September 5, 1932 ~ March 9, 2016 (age 83) Curtis Anthony Gobert, Jr., 83, a resident and native of Patterson, LA, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Teche Regional Medical Center at 8:45 AM. Visitation will be observed on Monday, March 14, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1011 First St., Patterson, LA., from 8:00 AM until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, with Fr. Herbert Bennerfield III serving as the Celebrant. Entombment will follow cremation in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Cemetery in Lafayette, LA at a later date. The East St. Mary Veteran Funeral Squad will perform at end of church service. Curtis was a very adventurous soul. He traveled to California as a young man to visit relatives and enjoyed the vineyards, mountains and the scenery. He later enlisted in the United States Army and became a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. After his service to his country, Curtis received an Honorable Discharge. Curtis enjoyed the thrill of jumping from airplanes and the comradeship of the men in his unit. He held many jobs and decided that his love for antiques and garage sales could be profitable. Curtis opened up a Thrift Store for several years and enjoyed his many customers, friends and acquaintances. He leaves to cherish his memories Miss Lois Batiste, his life- long loving companion and her family of Patterson, LA; two brothers, Harold William Gobert of Patterson, LA and Wayne Calvin Gobert of Kenner, LA; thirteen nieces, four nephews as well as many close friends and other family members. Curtis also enjoyed the company and friendship of Len Klutts, Charlie Polk and Andrus Lecompte for many years. Curtis always knew what he wanted and made sure he acquired it, in this he lived a full and happy life. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Anthony Gobert, Sr. and Beulah Guillory-Gobert; his daughter, Tony Mouton Gobert; four sisters, Jeanette Gobert, Leatrice Gobert-Verdun, Shirley Gobert-Verdun and Ruby Gobert-Bogan as well as a sister-in-law, Margaret Bourgeois Gobert and three brothers-in-law, Joseph Oscar Verdun, Espie Verdun and Theo Bogan.
