Following the service, she will be laid to rest with her husband in Beau Pré Cemetery in Jeanerette. R,,,,,,,,,,,ev. Sue Pugh will conduct the services. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Serving as pallbearers will be Travis Broussard, Chase Horton, Buddy Legnon, Scott Mestayer Jr., Beau Boutte, Mark T. George, and Cody Clements. Ilene, as most knew her, was a native of Holcomb, Kansas, and a 49 year resident of Franklin, who passed away at the age of 90 on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at her home. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing duplicate bridge, dominos, and golf. Her passions in life though were painting, traveling with her husband, and playing cards and board games with her family. ‘’’’’’She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to their mother's neighbors, Ronald and Gwyn Bourgeois; her caregivers, Eleanor Washington and Yolanda Washington, as well as Dr. Roland Degeyter and staff for the loving and compassionate care given to their mother. Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her six children, Connie Broussard and her husband E.J., Alan George, Sheila Bentley and her husband Allen, Judy Rouly and her husband Lawson, Mark George, and Margaret Clements and her husband Chris; 19 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and also Julie Doyle and Jennifer Pendarvis, who always had a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Calvin George; one granddaughter, Riki Jo Legnon Leader; her parents, Charles Ernest Martin and Goldie Sheets Martin; her siblings, Neva Reigle Delker, Leora Berry, Dee Moore, Bonnie Jameson, and Ralph Martin; and her sister-in-law, Betty Jo Eichenauer LaGrange.
