Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2016/sm1603.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services will be celebrated Friday, March 4, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson during an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian burial for James J. "Jimmy" Wilson Sr., a native and lifelong resident of Patterson, who passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at 8:14 a.m. at Teche Regional Medical Center. He will be laid to rest with his wife in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Patterson. Father Angelo Cremaldi will officiate the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Wilson, Jack Rock, Steven Wilson, Jody Theriot, Jr., Tyler Wilson, Frank Rock, and Keith Bodin. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, March 3, at Ibert's Mortuary in Patterson from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 6:30 PM. Visiting will resume Friday, March 4, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson from 9:00 AM until time of service. Mr. Jimmy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, who absolutely adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a longtime boat captain. He retired from Survey Boats in Patterson after 30 years of dedicated service. Some of his passions in life were hunting, fishing, and spending time at his camp with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his children, Nancy Espana and her husband Miguel of Jeanerette, James J. Wilson, Jr. and his wife Pauline of Centerville, Paul Wilson and his wife Lisa of Patterson, and Bonnie Duval and her husband Jerry of Patterson; one brother, Lyman Wilson of Patterson; one sister, Genoria Staples of Patterson; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Tierney Wilson; his parents, Dewey Wilson Sr. and Lissa Mae Daigle Wilson; two brothers, Tommy Wilson and Dewey Wilson Jr.; and two sisters, Dorothy Knudson and Betty Distefeno.
