John was born on May 20, 1950 in Morgan City the son of Joseph Oswald Melancon and Geraldine Thompson Melancon. John enjoyed woodworking and photography. He enjoyed working with his hands and enjoyed fixing things or making things with his tools. His love for photography started while he was in high school and it was something that he still enjoyed to this day. He was an avid fan of Facebook as this was the way that he kept up with his family and friends during the last few years. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three sons, Christian Melancon of Gonzales, Joey Melancon of Gonzales, and Cody Melancon of Florida; his father, J. Oswald Melancon and wife Evelyn of Morgan City; three brothers, Scott Melancon and wife Cecilia of Morgan City, Joe Melancon of Pasadena, Texas, Dieter Roy and wife Stephanie of Baton Rouge; one sister, Cindy Roy Cloutier and husband Charles of Baldwin; two nephews, Brian C. Melancon and Stephen G. Melancon; one niece, Laura R. Melancon. John was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine Thompson Melancon; maternal grandparents, C.T. and Margaret Thompson; paternal grandparents, George and Almeda Melancon. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Twin City Funeral Home with a memorial visitation being held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. John will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery at a later date. ===================
