Segura, a native of Erath and longtime resident of Franklin, passed away at the age of 80, on Saturday at 11:47 a.m. at his home surrounded by his family following a brief illness. L. J. was born April 25, 1936 to the late Leby Segura and the late Adia Duplantis Segura in Erath, LA. He joined the Marine Corp in June 1954 and was honorably discharged in April 1958. He married later that year and moved to Franklin in 1964 while working at Pelican Creamery. He then became employed by the United States Postal Service in Franklin until his retirement. L. J. was a co-founder, along with his wife, of the Krewe of Agmarol in Franklin, a member of the American Legion, and served 4 years as a Franklin City Councilman. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. L. J. was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a loyal friend. His hobbies included gardening, visiting family and friends, and caring for his wife when she became ill. Survivors include his wife, Martha Conner Segura, his daughter (and caregiver) Tammy Segura Himel, and her husband Warren (Butch), one granddaughter, Alice Himel, all of Franklin, two grandsons, Adam Himel and his wife Kristen of Erath and Ben Himel and his wife Cindy of Carencro, five great grandchildren, two brothers, Randall Segura and his wife, Jo, of Texas, and Robert Segura and his wife, Lona, of Abbeville, one sister, Mary Dale Segura Dronet and her husband, Rudy, of Erath, his fur baby, Taylor, his oldest and dearest friend, Irvin Sonnier, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to family friend and caregiver, Keely Mayer, Heart of Hospice, and Dr. Roland Degeyter for the care provided. Private services will be held at a later date. Anyone wishing to make contributions in L. J.'s name may do so to either the Wounded Warrior Project or to Marines Helping Marines.
