Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2016/sm1605.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Carol Pontiff Battaglia, a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, passed away at the age of 74 on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at 8:28 a.m. at the Franklin Foundation Hospital. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Donald J. Battaglia; four children, Donna B. Landry and her husband Alwin, Toby Battaglia and his wife Theresa, Kara B. Landry and her husband Scott, and Brett Battaglia and his wife Dena; five grandchildren, Landon and Bryson Landry, and Aubree, Brody, and Ava Battaglia; six siblings, Paul Pontiff, Murphy Pontiff Jr., Barbara Borne, Linda Richard, Helen Jones, and Faye Rice; special niece, Jennifer Scelfo; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Murphy Pontiff Sr. and Bessie Boudreaux Pontiff; one sister, Aline Gaudet; and one brother, Keith Pontiff. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 12:00 p.m. at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. She will be laid to rest in the Perpetual Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Father Lloyd Benoit will conduct the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Toby Battaglia, Brett Battaglia, Alwin Landry, Scott Landry, Bryson Landry, Landon Landry, Joe Gaudet, Mark Gaudet, and Kenny Scelfo Sr. The family would like to thank Dr. McPherson, Dr. Tesi, Justin Boudreaux and the staff of Franklin Foundation Hospital, as well as the Franklin Fire Department for the care and compassion given to Carol.
