Joyce Marie Bergeron Buford, 89, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Sunday, 
May 1, 2016 at Morgan City Healthcare Center.

Joyce was born on December 26, 1926 in Morgan City the daughter of Oliver 
Bergeron Sr. and Elizabeth Rentrop Bergeron.

Joyce was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church and was a member of the 
Catholic Daughters and St. Mary Genealogy Society. She was a graduate of Sacred 
Heart Academy. She was one of the first charter members of the St. Mary AARP. 
She was an early member of the Desk and Derrick Club Club of Morgan City.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three brothers, Anthony R. 
Bergeron and wife Patricia of Gretna, Patrick J. Bergeron of Morgan City, Edwin 
J. Bergeron of Morgan City; one sister, Joan Marie Michel and husband Calvin of 
Kaplan; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver Bergeron Sr. and Elizabeth 
Rentrop Bergeron; husband, Gerald Buford; five brothers, Oliver Bergeron Jr., 
Laurie Bergeron, Sheldon Bergeron, Robert Bergeron and Jason Bergeron; two 
sisters, Elizabeth Bergquist and Catherine Kidd.

The family would like to thank Mr. Joyce’s caretakers who took great care of 
her for nine years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 
Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Greg Fratt celebrating, with a 
visitation being held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. 

Following Mass Joyce will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Holy Cross Catholic 
Church or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
