Dillard was born on August 22, 1930 in Evangeline Parish the son of Isom Deshotels and Feloman Fontenot. Dillard enjoyed being in the outdoors tending to his garden. He was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints and loved watching all the games. Not only did he love watching the Saints play but he also enjoyed watching old westerns with Gun Smoke being his favorite. He loved a good home cooked meal and always loved spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three children, Lee Deshotels of Morgan City, Arlene Martin and Linda Deshotels both of Bushnell, Florida; five grandchildren, Brandy Dehotels, Chasity Maeser, Cameron Martin, Ricky Martin, Tyler Lane; five great grandchildren; one brother, Terrel Deshotels of Opelousas; one sister, Bernella Deshotels Meche of Mamou. Dillard was preceded in death by his parents, Isom Deshotels and Feloman Fontenot; wife, Hilda Zikes Deshotels; one son, Ricky Deshotels; two brothers, Varance Lee Deshotels and Atney Deshotels. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Twin City Funeral Home with Monsignor J. Douglas Courville officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Twin City Funeral Home with the visitation resuming Thursday morning at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Following the services Dillard will be laid to rest with Military Honors in the Morgan City Cemetery with the honors being rendered by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad. ===================
