A longtime resident of Garden City, Jessie was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was a one of a kind person who had a kind soul, a strong will, a determined mind, and a witty sense of humor. Jessie also had an inner strength that enabled her to overcome so many challenges in her all too brief life. When she was two years old she was in a serious car accident which left her in a coma for a month. Miraculously she pulled through only to face tragedy again. Following the birth of her beloved "Meggie", she slipped in to another coma and has also suffered from the debilitating illness of Fibromyalgia. Following the loss of her mother and then three months later her father, a part of Jessie died as well. But despite all of her struggles Jessie kept pushing on and fighting. Her life was not defined by the struggles she faced, but in how she faced those struggles with determination and courage. Her life was defined by her strength, and in the way she loved her family and friends and tried her best to protect them and help in any way she could. Her life was enjoyed by her passions in life, such as her love of animals and cooking, and how she loved having fun, being spontaneous, and her loud, heart filled laugh that she was known for. Her final struggle would come on February 23, 2016, when Jessie suffered a major stroke. For the next 73 days she fought the greatest battle of her life, and on Friday, May 6, 2016, at the young age of 43, Jessie received her ultimate healing when she was called home to her heavenly reward, where there's no more pain or struggles, only peace. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staffs of Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, AMG Specialty Hospital in Houma, and especially Heart of Hospice in Franklin, for the loving care given to Jessie in her final days and also for the comfort and compassion given to them. Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her husband of 21 years, Curtis Martin; her daughter, Megan Martin; two sisters, Dana Bodin and Desi Hanagriff and her husband Randy; her maternal grandmother, Hazel Guidry; her brother-in- law, Shane Martin; her sister-in-law, Brenda Martin Kinsella and her husband Mike; as well as numerous family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Burton and Laurel Guidry Schexnayder; her maternal grandfather, Willis Guidry Sr.; and her paternal grandparents, Sidney "PaPa Shine" Schexnayder, Jr. and Ophelia "Mama Shine" Sonnier Schexnayder. An intimate memorial service with family and close friends will be held at a later date, with her remains being laid to rest with her parents. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Jessie's name to Heart of Hospice - Bayou Region, 14777 Highway 90 West Frontage Road, Franklin, LA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc., 1007 Main Street, Franklin, LA ===================
