Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2016/sm1607.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin during an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian burial for Roland "Pete" Shinn, who passed away at the age of 96, on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the Franklin Foundation Hospital. He will be laid to rest in the Perpetual Park Cemetery. Fr. William Ruskoski will be the Celebrant for the Mass. Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Shinn, Dylan Shinn, Shawn Migues, Earl Migues, Jr., Aaron Migues and Jerry Migues. A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday at the Church of Assumption from 9:00 a.m. until service time. A loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend, Roland "Pete" Shinn was a native and lifelong resident of Franklin. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and served in the Army Air Corp in the European Theater of Operations. He was a retired drilling superintendent with Exxon Co., U.S.A. with 36 years of services. Pete was a life member of the V.F.W. and a member of Exxon Annuitants Club. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Survivors include two sons, Thomas Shinn and his wife Shelia and Duffy Shinn; one daughter, Kathleen S. Migues and her husband Earl; one step daughter, Trish Wheatley and her husband Bruce; four grandsons, Blake and Dylan Shinn, Shawn Migues and his wife Tanya andEarl Migues, Jr.and his wife Linda; four granddaughters, Lacey and Ariel Shinn, Tabitha S. Newton and Vita Migues and her husband Jerry; three great grandsons, Aaron, Evan and Caleb Migues; three great granddaughters, Kaylee, Keylee and Layla Migues; two step grandchildren; 4 great step grandchildren; his close and devoted friend, Jane Powers and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. "TJ" Shinn and Lorena Robichaux Shinn; his first wife, Rosemary Battaglia Shinn; his second wife, Alice Bouie Shinn; three brothers, William "Billy" Shinn, Retired Col. Lee F. Shinn and Manley Roy Shinn (Infant) and one sister, Patricia Shinn. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in memory of Mr. Roland "Pete" Shinn.
