Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 07, 2016, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was 88 years old, and a resident of Patterson, Louisiana since 1955. Hugh was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Nell Egle' Brown of Morgan City; his parents, Hugh Sr. and Lelia Mitchell Brown; and his sister, Eleanor Brown Hall. He is survived by his four children, Jenny Brown LaCour and husband, Barry, and their two children, Gabrielle (and husband John Heil) and Joey; Eva Claire Brown Tregle and husband, Tim, and their son, Charlton; Hugh C. Brown III and wife, Rachel, and their children, Laci (and husband Seth Cavalier), Jami and Nickolas, and great grandchildren, Brant and Laityn Cavalier; Thomas J. Brown and wife, Sherri, and their children, William and Walker; one sister, Mary Ida Sprague; one brother, Dr. Edwin L. Brown; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina, Hugh attended Christ School before joining the US Army where he served as a military policeman in Japan following WWII. Having graduated from Sewanee, The University of the South, with a degree in Forestry, Hugh worked as a Land Manager for Williams, Inc. before retiring as Vice President after 40+ years of service. Hugh dedicated his life to always giving back to his community, serving Troop 41 (Scoutmaster), Patterson Rotary Club (Paul Harris Fellow), Louisiana Forestry Association, Louisiana Landowners Association, and Wedell-Williams Aviation and Cypress Sawmill Museum. Hugh was a devout Christian and active member of the Patterson United Methodist Church.
