Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2017/sm1705.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services for Bonnie McLain Miguez will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin. Following the service she will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Chris Holloway of Little Pass Baptist Church in Charenton will conduct the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark LaBarge, Christian Derouen, Russell LaBarge, Brent Boudreaux, Phillip Boudreaux, and Doug Hood. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Ibert's Mortuary from 11:00 a.m. until service time. A native of Tennessee, Bonnie was born on July 28, 1932 to the late Doyle McLain and the late Zelma Gray McLain. After meeting and marrying the love of her life, Herman, the two moved to his home state of Louisiana and resided in Franklin where they began their family. They later moved to Buras and then Walker, following work in the oil field, until moving to New Iberia in the 90's due to Herman's declining health. Following the death of her beloved husband, Bonnie moved to Lafayette to be near her daughter, where she has resided for the past 15 years. During her early years, she worked in the retail industry, managing several stores in the Franklin and Buras areas. Some of her favorite pastimes included sewing, crocheting, needle work, cooking for family, working in her yard, gardening, listening to music, and especially Saturday night dancing with her husband. Bonnie passed away at the age of 84 in the early morning hours of Monday, May 8, 2017, at Maison de Lafayette with her daughter by her side. She will be fondly remembered for her huge smile and loving nature and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her daughter, Cheryl Miguez; one granddaughter, Crystal Bourque; one grandson, Mark LaBarge; three great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; six siblings, Ann Marie Boudreaux, Shelby Goulas, Susan Little, Robert McLain, Jimmy McLain, and Johnny McLain; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman J. Miguez; an infant son, Lester Miguez; and an infant sibling. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to help alleviate funeral expenses.
