Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2017/sm1706.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== On Tuesday, June 20, 2017, Robert Grady Bruce, passed away due to complications from diabetes at age 58 at Franklin Hospital in Franklin, Louisiana. He is survived by his daughter, Virginia Lee Bruce Guidry and a granddaughter, Charlotte, of Abbeville, LA. He is also survived by three sisters, Carol Bruce Greve of New Orleans, LA, Sadie Bruce Nelson of Zachary, LA and Katherine Bruce Blackburn of New Iberia, LA and two brothers, George W. Bruce of Leesville, LA and John Lee Bruce of Westminister, California. Robert was the youngest of six children of George W. Bruce and Verla Asby Bruce. He was born August 9, 1958, in Oakdale, Louisiana. Robert grew up in Oakdale, graduated from Oakdale High School in 1976 and attended Northeast Louisiana State University in Monroe, LA. In his professional life Robert held jobs in the trucking industry in Houston, Texas and Baton Rouge, LA. He was an avid fisherman and sportsman. He loved hunting and fishing and spent many days on the water and in the woods. He loved Louisiana football. He was a super fan of the New Orleans Saints and always listened or watched every game. The family wishes to extend many thanks and much gratitude to the staffs of Chateau Terrebonne Health Care in Houma, LA and Franklin Health Care Center and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin, LA for the care they gave Robert during the last years of his life. A private memorial service will be held for the family. ===================
