Calvary Baptist Church, Jeanerette, LA. Rev. A Jones will officiate the service. The Family has requested that visitation be from 9:00 AM until the commencement of the funeral service at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Ms. Gilliam will be buried in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, Jeanerette, LA. Beaulah Phillips Gilliam was born on October 11th to the late Alec Phillips and the late Lucinda Polidore Phillips. She was united in marriage to the late Ollie Gilliam, Jr. and they were blessed with three sons and two daughters. Beaulah was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She did her best to train her children to be respectful, trust God, and seek him first in all things. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her heart. No one could touch them, but she made sure to counsel and correct them when they did something wrong. She worked as a cook for Smile Headstart for many years where she was loved and cherished by all of her supervisors and co-workers. Everyone who ate her food would ask for more and many tried to use her recipes, but they just couldn’t put as much love in the pot as she did. She loved to travel and kept a bag packed so she could take off when anyone called on her. She had a positive impact on the lives of everyone she met, taking them under her wings as a bird does their babies, and guiding them to a better life. She accepted Christ at a young age and became a spiritual warrior. She counseled and prayed for all who crossed her path, leading many lost souls to Christ. As a member of Mt Calvary, she was a part of the Senior Choir, Gospellets and the Men and Women’s choirs. She cooked for Vacation Bible School for many years and prepared breakfast every Sunday for the church until the congregation moved to this building. She also visited the sick and elderly in nursing homes and hospitals every month and was very active with Nazareth Baptist Church and the music ministry. Beaulah departed this life on the morning of June 2, 2017. She leaves to cherish her loving memory one sister, Victoria Phillips of Jeanerette; one son, Ollie “Butch” Gilliam, III of Youngsville; two daughters, Bernadette (Kerry) Conner of Coteau and Charlene (Ronald) Gabriel of Patterson; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and a host of godchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends whose lives she touched so deeply. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Alec and Lucinda Phillips and James “Jim” Colbert; husband, Ollie Gilliam, Jr; three sisters, Mary Alice Phillips, Mary Grace Phillips, and Olivia August; two sons, Reginald and Redford Gilliam; one grandson, Officer Juandre Gilliam; one great granddaughter and two great-great grands MK DIXON Funeral Home is in charge of final arrangements ===================
