(New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, July 08, 1916, Image 5, Image 5 An unfortunate accident befell Mr. Clifford Todd [Clifton M. Todd] last Saturday afternoon which cost him his life and cast a gloom over this community. From what we could learn it seems at about five o'clock that afternoon the young man took up his revolver and attempted to clean it when it was discharged and the bullet penetrated and went through his intestines. Physicians were rushed to the home of Mr. Moran where he was living at the time and they accompanied him to Lafayette for further surgical treatment. Despite the surgical attention he received, on Monday morning he succumbed from the wounds. After his death, the remains were taken to Franklin, his native home for interment. Mr. Todd came to New Iberia some fifteen months ago and resided with his relative, Mr. Moran and while here made many friends among our young people. He had reached the age of only twenty-one years and his family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends throughout the Attkapas parishes. source: The St. Mary Banner.
