She was 85 years of age. She was a native of Webster County, Miss., a longtime resident of Slidell and a retired bag factory worker. She was the mother of James H. McCain, Barbara M. Miller and Hellen M. Amerson; and survived by eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington. Interment was in United Pentecostal Church Cemetery. May 17, 2000 Arnold Leroy Bennett Arnold Leroy Bennett, a retired insurance manager, died at his residence in Folsom of a heart attack on Thursday, May 11, 2000. Bennett was 62 years of age, a native of Folsom, a resident of New Orleans for 21 years, and a resident of Folsom for the past 25 years. He had worked as an insurance manager for Commonwealth Insurance Company. Survivors include his wife, Gale Vessier Bennett; one son, Rocky Bennett; two daughters, Judith Bennett and Kelly Bennett; two brothers, Sidney Bennett and Jewel Bennett; and eight grandchildren. Services were held Saturday, May 13, 2000 from the chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington. A visitation was held Saturday prior to the services. Interment was in Willie Cemetery in Folsom. May 21, 2000 Beverly Louise Cousins Beverly Louise Cousins of Lacombe died on Thursday, May 11, 2000. She was 83 and a native and lifelong resident of Lacombe. She was the wife of the late Taylor J. Cousins; mother of Constant J. Cousins of Jefferson, Barry Cousins of Jackson, Larry Cousins of Lacombe; Sandra Morgan of St. Rose, Jane Hadley of Covington and the late Arlette Williams, Beverly Cousins and Roger J. Cousins. Mrs. Cousins was survived by 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Services were held May 17, 2000 from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacombe. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery. Schoen Funeral Home, of Covington, handled all the arrangements. Sonya Perrin Goodman Sonya Perrin Goodman died at her residence in Ponchatoula on Sunday, May 14, 2000. She was 60 years of age. She was a housewife, a native of Madisonville, and had lived in Ponchatoula for the past 18 years. Survivors include her husband, Edmond Goodman; two stepdaughters, Betty Goodman and Patsy Goodman Elder; a brother, Sidney W. Perrin Jr.; two sisters, Jennie Perrin Harrell Goodman and Rose Perrin Carrone. Services were held Tuesday, May 16, 2000 from Schoen Funeral Home in Covington. Interment followed in Theo Dendinger Cemetery in Covington. May 24, 2000 Reba Bennett Fitzgerald, Ga. -- A former resident of Covington, La., Reba Bennett died at her home in Huntsville, Ala. on Saturday, May 6, 2000. A homemaker, Bennett was 86 at the time of her death. She was born in Fitzgerald and lived there until she was 12 years of age. She was a former resident of Tulsa, Okla., and Covington, La. While living in Covington, La., she was a member of the North Shore Bible Church. She was a 1931 graduate of Central High School in Tulsa, Okla. Her parents were the late Ida Lillian Leach Searcy and Ewell Pinkerton Searcy. Survivors include a son, David E. Bennett of Cambridge, Mass.; a daughter, Robyn Block of Huntsville, Ala.; a sister, Elaine Jones of Auburn, Calif.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held in Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald on May 9, 2000. Interment followed the services. The Faulk Funeral Home of Fitzgerald was in charge of the arrangements. Graciela Castellanos Hinzie Graciela Castellanos Hinzie died on Thursday, May 18, 2000. She was the wife of the late Martin F. Hinzie Sr. Mrs. Hinzie was 86, a native of Guatemala and a resident of Folsom for the past eight years. Survivors include six daughters, Carol Hinzie, Martha Cochran, Ann Hover, Grace Messina, Mary Larcade and Helen Schiavo; two sons, Martin Hinzie Jr. and Johnny Hinzie; a sister, Mary Gonzales; a brother, Charles Williams; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. A funeral mass was held from the chapel of Schoen Funeral Home in Covington on Saturday, May 20, 2000. A visitation preceded the funeral. Interment followed the services in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Covington. Chastian Taurman Jr. Chastian Taurman Jr., a retired salesman, died Friday, May 19, 2000, at Christwood Retirement Community in Mandeville of natural causes. The deceased, 88 at the time of his death, was a native of Cincinnati, Ohio and was a resident of Covington for the past four years. Taurman was a graduate of Miami University of Ohio at Oxford, Ohio. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he rose to the rank of lieutenant commander before he was separated from the service after the war. At one time the deceased was affiliated with St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church of Atlanta, Ga. Survivors include one son, Chastian Taurman III; one sister, Thelma Taurman Black; and five grandchildren. Memorial services were held May 24, 2000 at Christ Episcopal Church in Covington. It was preceded by a visitation at the church. Details about burial were not released by the E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, which handled the arrangements. May 26, 2000 Betty Anders DiMarco Ms. Betty Anders DiMarco, who worked in an area restaurant and was also a homemaker, died Monday, May 22, 2000 at Columbia Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Mandeville. Family members said the 75-year-old native of Johnston, Pa., died of natural causes. She had been a resident of Mandeville for the past two years. Survivors include two sons, Anthony M. DiMarco of Mandevile and Joseph K. DiMarco of Slidell; two brothers, Charles Anders of North Carolina and Emel Anders of Shelton, Wash.; one sister, Georgene Biernacki of St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Ms. DiMarco was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph DiMarco. Funeral services were held May 25, 2000 at the E.J. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington. A visitation preceded the funeral services. Interment followed in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington. Daniel Ludovic Larter Daniel Ludovic Larter, a student at Mandeville Junior High School, died Monday, May 22, 2000 in Biloxi, Miss., of heart failure. He was 15 years of age. He was a native of New Orleans, but had lived with his family in Mandeville for the past 12 years. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 25, 2000 from the chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington. A visitation was observed before the services. Interment followed in Pinecrest Mausoleum in Covington. Melverne Louis Plavidal Melverne Louis Plavidal of Loranger died on Sunday, May 21, 2000 at his home from the effects of a long illness. He was 87, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Loranger for the past four years. Survivors include one grandchild; two great-grandchildren and one great-great-granchild. Plavidal was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Unland Plavidal and a daughter, Margaret Monk. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 24, 2000 at Jacob Schoen Funeral Home in New Orleans. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Mausoleum in New Orleans. Barbara Ann Robert Ms. Barbara Ann Robert, a retired physical education teacher, died on Monday, May 22, 2000 at Memorial Medical Center of New Orleans. She was born in Covington and educated in Slidell and New Orleans. She had worked all her adult life in New Orleans as a physical education teacher. After retirement, she moved back to Slidell. Survivors include her father, Albert J. Roberts and a stepmother, Delcina P. Roberts, both of Slidell; and a sister, Helen C.R. Rivers of New Orleans. Funeral services are scheduled, with a visitation and a Mass, Saturday, May 27, at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, La. Highway 433, Bayou Liberty Rd., Slidell. The visitation will be observed from 9 a.m. until the Mass begins at 11 a.m. The Rev. Wayne Paysee will officiate. Interment will follow in Dubuisson Cemetery in Slidell. Arrangements were handled by Freddie E. Doyle Funeral Home, 2430 Fourth St., Slidell.
