He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a retired employee of Tesoro Petroleum Co. He was the husband of Elizabeth L. Hummel; the father of Sam Hummel, Raymond Hummel and Emmett Hummel III; the son of the late Emmett and Ethel Hummel; the brother of Christine Delaune, Peggy Tracy, Constance Hummel and the late Barbara Whitla; and the grandfather of six grandchildren. He served at Saint Paul School and St. Peter Church in Covington, St. Christopher Church in Metairie and Sacred Heart Church in New Orleans. He was the son of the late Charles G. Cobb Sr. and the late Alyce S. Cobb; and the brother of the late Beatrice C. Harrison and the late Charles G. Cobb Jr. A funeral Mass was held Thursday at 11:15 a.m. at Saint Joseph Abbey.
