Begue; the son of the late Edward and Sarah M. Begue; and the brother of the Edwina B. Fonti, Marie L. Drury, Ruth Berrigan and Claire F. Begue. A funeral Mass will be held today at noon in St. Peter's Catholic Church in Covington. Interment will be in Abita Springs Cemetery. She was 83 years of age. She was a native of Madisonville and a resident of Covington for the past 48 years. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, the past president of St. Peter Altar Society, Covington Kaycetts and a charter member of Covington Business and Professional Women's Club. She was an active member and a past president of St. Tammany Parish Hospital Guild, a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 16, Covington Chamber of Commerce Auxiliary and the Covington Garden Club. She was the recipient of the Order of St. Louis medallion, "Woman of the Year" by Covington Business and Professional Women's Club, "Mother of the Year" at St. Peter School, "Outstanding Senior Citizen" of St. Peter Church and past queen of the Krewe of Kaa Cee. She was the wife of Edwin "Brother" Galatas; the mother of Gayle G. Frere, Cheryl G. McCain, Jan G. Gardner and the late Edwin Galatas; the daughter of the late Jacques Pelloat and Piano C. Mother Teresita Soniat COVINGTON - Mother Teresita Soniat died Saturday, July 29, 2000. She was a member of the Discalced Carmelites Nuns, after joining the order in May 1930 and making her profession Dec. 8, 1931. A funeral Mass was held Monday in the Monastery Chapel. He was 67 years of age. He was a native of Milwaukee, Wis., a resident of Covington for the past 21 years and a former assembly worker for the Orleans Casket Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the 101st Airborne Division and a member of the Covington Lions Club. He was the husband of Dorothy D. Gassen; the father of James D. He was the former president of Citizens National Bank in Hammond, a director of the Halliburton Company and Hibernia National Bank and a member of the board of trustees of Tulane University and Alma College. He was a graduate of Isadore Newman School and Tulane University and a U.S. Air Force veteran who retired at the rank of captain. He was a volunteer member of the Civil Air Patrol's Search and Rescue Team, a member of the Louisiana Club and the Pickwick Club and a board member and former president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Louisiana. He was the owner and president of Klinesmith, Laudeman and Talbot, Inc. and a senior vice president of Insurance Underwriters, Ltd. He received a commercial pilots license and a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters designation and he served as president of the Deep South Chapter and the Independent Insurance Agents of Greater New Orleans. He was the husband of Jean G. Talbot; the stepfather of Andrew Palmer and Robert Palmer; the son of the late Benjamin H. Talbot Jr. and Charlotte P. Talbot; and the grandfather of two grandchildren.
