He was the co-founder and owner of Fischer Exterminating from 1962 until 1984 and a member of Faith Presbyterian Church, Covington Rotary Club, Covington Chamber of Commerce, Louisiana Pest Control Association and National Pest Control Association. He was the husband of Ruth M.G. Fischer; the son of the late Ernest L. and Lillian E. Fischer; and the brother of the late Ashton J. Fischer and Merrill P. Fischer. A funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington. Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services. -ROGERS 03/07/01 FOLSOM - Ruth Sharp Rogers died Sunday, March 4, 2001. She was 82 years old. She was a native and lifelong resident of Folsom. She was the wife of the late Floyd L. Rogers; the mother of Jerry H. Rogers, Katherine R. Reed, Sandra R. Frederick and Sherri R. Daull; the sister of Hazel Corkern, Ethel Rogers, Sidney Sharp and the late Huldah Burns, Tressie Bruhl, Hattie Magee and Selma Wascom; the grandmother of nine grandchildren; and the great-grandmother of four great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the First Baptist Church of Folsom under the direction of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home. McGuire and Helen Givins; the sister of Fred McGuire, Joe McGuire, William McGuire, Deloris McGuire, Gloria McGuire and Carol Golemon; the grandmother of three grandchildren; and the great-grandmother of one great-grandchild. Interment was in Mandeville Cemetery. -------------------------------------------------------- RUCKER 03/12/01 MANDEVILLE - Robert Malcolm Rucker died Wednesday, March 7, 2001. He was 68 years old. He was a native of New Orleans and a resident of St. Tammany Parish in the Covington/Mandeville area for the past 25 years. He was a graduate of John McCrady School of Fine Art in New Orleans, and he was named a Louisiana Legend in 1997. Nineteen of his paintings are included in The Historic New Orleans Collection. He was the husband of Margaret E. Rucker; the father of Kathryn L. Rucker, Janet R. Cartier and Yvonne R. Carriere; the brother of Edward A. Rucker III, Amy R. Kreubbe and Marie R. Dendy; the grandfather of 12 grandchildren; and the great-grandfather of three great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was held Saturday in the chapel of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mandeville under the direction of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home. He was 46 years old. He was a native of Syracuse, N.Y., and a resident of Metairie for the past 12 years. He was the son of Florence P. Box 524, Mandeville, LA 70470. ------------------------------------------------------- 03/14/01 SPENCER BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Herbert E. Spencer died Friday, March 9, 2001. He was 89. He was a native of Gainesville, Fla., a former resident of Birmingham and Houston and a resident of Covington for the past two years. He was a graduate of the University of Florida and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served in the Pacific Theater as commanding officer of the Army Quartermaster Depot in Australia, New Guinea, the Philippines and Japan and he retired as a lieutenant colonel after 28 years of service. He was an employee with the Florida Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Louisiana Extension Service in Franklinton and the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank in New Orleans. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in New Orleans, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Birmingham and Christ Episcopal Church in Covington. Graveside services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham under the direction of E.J. She was a native of Covington and a resident of Dalton, Ga. for the past six years. She was the wife of the late C. Everett Heintz; the mother of Kathryn H. Pusateri and Charles E. Heintz Jr.; the daughter of the late Ulysses and Katie Depriest; the sister of Hermanie D. Ward and the late Norma D. He was a native of Gulfport and a former resident of Wiggins and Covington, La. He was a volunteer firefighter, a retired safety coordinator for Centex Construction in Dallas, Texas and a certified OSHA instructor. He was a member of the Wiggins Church of God. He was the husband of Esther E. Warden; the father of Heather W. Jenkins of Covington, La., and Shay Warden of Wiggins; the son of Marie Warden of Wiggins and the late Randall Warden; the brother of T.W. Warden and David Warden, both of Gulfport, Bea Robnett and Jenell Jackson, both of Wiggins, and the late Clyde Warden and Douglas Warden; and the grandfather of two grandchildren. A funeral service will be held today at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the Wiggins Church of God under the direction of Riemann Funeral Home in Gulfport. Duhon, William Landry, Lucy Guilbeau and the late Antoin Landry, Oruielle Landry, George Landry, Leid Landry and Ludell Landry; the grandmother of five grandchildren; and the great-grandmother of six great-grandchildren. He was 101 years old. He was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Covington for the past 20 years. He was a graduate of Loyola University Law School, and he practiced in New Orleans for more than 70 years. He was a member of the Canal Boulevard Baptist Church, the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and the Sons of the Confederate Veterans and he was a 33rd Degree Mason and a charter member and past master of Lee E. Thomas Lodge and an associate member of the Covington Lodge. He served as Grandmaster of Kadosh of the Grand Consistory of New Orleans and as Past Venerable Master of the Albert Pike Lodge of Perfection, Indivisible Commandry and Knight Templars. He was a former state director of the Friends of Public Schools of America, Inc., and he served as a delegate to the White House conference on public schools. He served on the advisory board of the Boy Scouts of America, the Salvation Army and the New Orleans Public Library. He was the father of Ysabelita K. Fritzi Martin; the grandfather of three grandchildren; and the great-grandfather of five great-grandchildren. She was 43 years old. She was a native of Cedar Lake, Ind., a resident of Folsom and a homemaker. She was the mother of Richard O’Keefe Jr., Selissa G. Imboden and Tylina L. Imboden; the daughter of Charles and Lois B. Endris; the sister of Rodney Endris, Christine Endris, Penny D. Miller and Melinda K. Smith; and the grandmother of three grandchildren. He was 83 years old. He was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Covington. He was a retired senior vice president and director of Strachan Shipping with 52 years of service. He was an honorary consul of Sweden in Louisiana and he was awarded the King’s Order of the North Star First Class by King Carl Gustaf VI. He was a charter member of the International House and a member of the World Trade Club, the New Orleans Board of Trade, the New Orleans Traffic and Transportation Club, the Export Manager Club, the Propeller Club, the Boston Club, the Metairie Country Club, the Southern Yacht Club, the Tchefuncte Country Club and the St. Tammany Investment Club. He was the husband of Harriet N. Collins; the father of Carl H. Collins of Plains, Texas, H. Holland Collins of New Orleans and Carol Finley of Folsom; the stepfather of Robert N. Larsen, Christie S. Larsen and Lyn L.H. Hayward; the grandfather of 15 grandchildren; and the great-grandfather of 11 great-grandchildren. Vinet; the sister of Joseph Cambre and the late Emma Schneider, Pauline Cambre, Jerome Cambre, Louis Cambre, Louise Aucoin and Leonce Cambre; the grandmother of five grandchildren; and the great-grandmother of eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from noon until time of services. ---------------- HALL 03/28/01 HALL COVINGTON - M. Guy Hall died Saturday, March 24, 2001. He was 81 years old. He was a native of Greenwood, Miss., and a resident of Covington for the past 35 years. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School, attended Mississippi State University in Starkville, Miss., and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, and after the war he moved to West Texas to work in the oil and gas industry. He founded an oil service company, TEOC, Inc., in 1963 and it was in operation in Louisiana until his retirement in 1988. He wrote an autobiography, “From Here to There and Along the Way,” and in 1995 he was honored by his hometown. He was the husband of Marion W. Hall; the father of William W. Hall, Michael G. Hall, Gay A. Hall and Melissa H. Butler; and the son of the late Milton G. and Lela R. Hall; the brother of the late Celeste H. White. He was also the grandfather of eight grandchildren. A funeral service was held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington. Interment was in Pinecrest Mausoleum.
