She was 41 years old. She was a native of Erie, Pa., a nurse's aide and a resident of Mandeville for the past 23 years. She was the mother of Bobby Kaizer; the daughter of Dottie P. Kaizer; and the sister of B.J. Kaizer, Jennifer Rogers of Mandeville, Robin Trahan of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Lisa Kaiser of Tangipahoa. A graveside service will be held today at 10 a.m. in Mandeville Cemetery under the direction of Vickers Northshore Funeral Home. FREDERICK 05/04/01 COVINGTON - Allen Thomas Frederick died May 2, 2001. He was 91 years old. He was a native and a longtime resident of Covington. He was the husband of Frances B. Frederick; father of Thom Frederick, Terry A. McMahon, Beth Austin, Dr. Tim Frederick and Mary Fourmeaux; the son of the late E.J. and Blanche H. Frederick; the grandfather of 11 grandchildren; and the great-grandfather of one great-grandchild. A funeral Mass will be held today at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens under the direction of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. in the funeral home until shortly before time of services in the church. The rosary will be said at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. BEAUVAIS 05/04/01 COVINGTON - Dr. Hewitt Joseph Beauvais Jr. died April 30, 2001. He was 80 years old. He was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Bush for the past 31 years. He was a graduate of Jesuit High School and Loyola University and a member of Vignes Odontological Society, Who's Who in American Colleges, Theta Beta, Alpha Sigma Nu and Psi Omega honor societies. He was a decorated veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was the husband of Ruby H. Beauvais; the father of Lydia Piper, Hewitt J. Beauvais III, Rosemary Miller, Jeannette Fuchs, Rene M. Beauvais and Chris Beauvais; and the grandfather of four grandchildren. A funeral service was held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington. BARTELT 05/04/01 COVINGTON - Barbara Ann Ehmke Bartelt died May 1, 2001. She was 73 years old. She was a native of Milwaukee, Wis., and a resident of Covington the past 13 years. She was a former resident of Marathon Bay, Fla. and Orlando, Fla., and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. She was the mother of Barbara A.B. Caldwell of Covington, Wendy E.B. Thomas of Newport, Ore., and the late Joanne I. Bartelt; the daughter of the late Herbert and Lorraine E.D. Ehmke; and the grandmother of two grandchildren. A Liturgy of the Word will be held today at 4 p.m. in the chapel of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Covington under the direction of Schoen Funeral Home. She was 87 years old. She was a resident of Abita Springs for the past 35 years. She was the wife of the late Lonnie Jarrell Sr.; the mother of Lonnie Jarrell Jr., Kathleen Carlisle, Dorothy M. Jones, Cynthia McIntyre, Stanley E. Jarrell and the late James F. Jarrell and Eddie R. Jarrell; the daughter of the late Lanzo and Lottie H. Sharpe; the sister of Roxie Jones, Emma Sharpe, Fay Morse and Melton Sharpe; the grandmother of 15 grandchildren; and the great-grandmother of 20 great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held Monday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington. Interment was in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery. VORHABEN 05/11/01 VORHABEN NEW ORLEANS - Deborah Grace Burke Vorhaben died May 8, 2001. She was 52 years old. She was a native of New Orleans, a resident of Slidell and a registered nurse. She was a graduate of the Charity Hospital School of Nursing and a former employee of Touro Infirmary, Tulane Medical Center, Seventh Ward Hospital and East Jefferson Medical Center. She was a past president of the Chateau Ladies Tennis Association, a record keeper of the Crescent City Ladies Tennis Association, a first vice president of the Orleans Women's Tennis Association and a captain of City Team Tennis. She was the wife of Dr. Harry S. Vorhaben Jr.; the mother of Quinn S. Vorhaben of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Arthur S. Vorhaben, Alicia Q. Vorhaben and Ann T. Vorhaben, all of New Orleans; the daughter of Mary B. Burke of Covington and the late Jack L. Burke; and the sister of Christopher Burke of Covington, Pamela Hingle of Abita Springs, Kathleen Glynn of Madisonville, Patrick Burke of Bay St. Louis, Miss., Mary L. Burke of New Orleans and Timothy Burke of Snellville, Ga. A funeral Mass will be held today at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans. Interment will be private. HAIK 05/11/01 HAIK COVINGTON - Vera Lee Rodgers Haik died May 8, 2001. She was 90 years old. She was a native of Edna, Texas, and a longtime resident of Covington. She served with the American Red Cross during World War II, and she was a court reporter in St. Tammany Parish for more than 20 years. She was a former manager of the Riverside Inn, a bookkeeper for Peace Publications and a columnist for The Times-Picayune. She was a member of DAR, the UDC, the Garden Club of Covington and a former member of the Business and Professional Women's Association. She was the wife of the late Sam Haik; the mother of the late Lanette H. Clapp; the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Nannie B. Rodgers; the sister of Cecil Rodgers; the grandmother of three grandchildren; the great-grandmother of two great-grandchildren; and the great-great-grandmother of one great-great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held today at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington. Interment will be in Covington Cemetery No. 1. BURKE 05/11/01 BURKE MADISONVILLE - Kathleen Frances Kelly Burke died May 8, 2001. She was 82 years old. She was a native of Wyoming, a resident of Covington for the past 22 years and a retired ward clerk at Charity Hospital. She was the mother of Lillian Burke, Sharon Killian, Nancy Burke and Diane De Shaxer; the sister of Clarence Kelly; the grandmother of nine grandchildren; and the great-grandmother of seven great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of St. Anselm Catholic Church in Madisonville. Interment will be in Theo-Dendinger Cemetery under the direction of Vickers Northshore Funeral Home. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington. Interment was in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. MOORE 05/14/01 COVINGTON - Clarence David "Clay" Moore died May 7, 2001. He was 42 years old. He was a native of Austin, Texas, and a resident of Bush for the past six years. He was a leader of Boy Scout Troop No. 112, a coach for the Bush Recreation Center and a member of St. Michael's Mission, St. Jane de Chantal Knights of Columbus Council No. 12529 and the Pontchartrain Yacht Club. He was the husband of Laura L. Moore; the father of Meghan Moore, Emily Moore and Sam Moore; the son of Clyde Moore and Melba D. Weiss; and the brother of Butch Moore and Beth Otis. A funeral Mass was held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington. Interment was in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
