Beverly Hamilton Alba passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2008.

She was born May 30, 1929 in Pasadena, CA to the late Florence Cocke and Howard 
Hamilton. The beloved wife of the late Edward M. Alba, Sr., she is survived by 
four children: Susan A. Roberts, Gretchen A. Jones, Leslie A. Delatte, Edward 
"Ted" Alba, Jr., seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

ARCHIE, MELVIN 

Melvin Archie, 87, of Slidell, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008. 

He was the beloved husband of 61 years to Cora Jerrymayne Hambrick and father of 
three, Emanda (Harold) Jones of Hammond, Ind., Marvin (Pamela) Archie of Los 
Angeles and Arlene (David) Simmons of Slidell; grandfather of seven and great-
grandfather of 19. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, with visitation from 9 
a.m. until service at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church, 2457 2nd St., Slidell. 

Homegoing arrangements entrusted to Doyle's Funeral Home, 2430 4th St., Slidell. 
Interment will be at Slidell Memorial Cemetery and repast at Mt. Olive A.M.E. 
Feeding Center.

BADEAUX, REGINALD THOMAS, JR.

Reginald T. Badeaux, Jr. passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 29, 2008. 

He was born in New Orleans on September 16, 1918 to the late Ann Meany and 
Reginald T. Badeaux, Sr. and has been a resident of Covington for over 40 years.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Mollie Leslie Badeaux; eight 
children: Leslie van Duyvendijk, Reginald T. III, Gregory B., Richard C., Steven 
B., Jeffrey G., Timothy E., Daniel J. Badeaux; eighteen grandchildren and one 
great grandson. 

He was preceded in death by four siblings: Gerald Badeaux, Audrey Babst, Donald 
Badeaux and Hubert Badeaux.

Mr. Badeaux graduated from St. Paul's High School in 1934. He enjoyed immediate 
success as the top regional salesman for Decca Records. In WWII he served his 
country as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a navigator in the 9th 
Troop Carrier Squadron in the Pacific Theater. After an honorable discharge of 
his duties, he obtained a B.S. Degree in Business from Loyola University in New 
Orleans, ultimately obtaining a J.D. degree from Loyola University School of Law 
in 1951. In addition to graduating first in his class, he served as Editor in 
Chief of the Loyola Law Review. In later years he attained an L.L.M. in 
Admiralty from Tulane University. In addition to enjoying great success as a 
trial attorney with the law firm of Badeaux, Discon, Cumberland and Barbier, he 
also served as the Custodian of the Orleans Parish Notarial Archives under three 
governors, having first been appointed to the position by the late Gov. Earl K. 
Long in 1956 until 1972, the longest term of any Custodian to date. Mr. Badeaux 
was a founder and former President of the Louisiana Epilepsy Association, a 
Board Member and former President of the Board of Directors of Tchefuncte 
Estates and was a member of the Knights of Columbus in St. Dominic Parish. He 
was especially proud of his continuing association with St. Paul's High School 
as a member of its Board of Directors. Reggie was an avid golfer; in addition to 
Tchefunte, he was a charter member of Covington Country Club and a member at 
Metairie Country Club.

Mr. Badeaux was a generous and loving husband and father; and he will be sadly 
missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass on 
Friday, February 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM from St. Anselm Catholic Church, 307 St. 
Mary Street, Madisonville, LA 70447.

Visiting hours will begin AT THE CHURCH at 9:00 AM.

Interment will follow mass at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery.

Charles Alexander Banish, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2008.

Beloved son of Catherine Banish and the late Charles Banish; brother of Dorothy 
Banish Madden and Valerie Banish Bobosh; uncle to Jessica, James, Paul and Alex 
Madden and Julianna, John, Seth and Daniel Bobosh.

Age 47 years. A native and resident of New York City, NY, he was a former 
resident of New Orleans, LA. He was a 1982 Tulane University graduate, a former 
New York City Police Officer and currently employed as a Tax Specialist with the 
Internal Revenue Service.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
on Saturday, January 12, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel at E.J. Fielding 
Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433.

Visitation will begin at the funeral home on Saturday at 12 noon.

Interment will be on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Claremont

Loving mother of Marsha Pazos, Tina Hebert, Roxanne Day, Darrell Barattini, 
Ronald Barattini and Lawrence Barattini. Also survived by 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Age 76 years, a native of New Orleans and resident of Mandeville, LA for the 
past five years. She was one of the founders of Barattini's Jewelers at 1 Shell 
Square.

Also survived by 3 grandchildren; Christian Bell, Keifer Bell and Anders Bell. 

Age 64 years; a native of New Orleans and long-time resident of Slidell, Mr. 
Bell was a Computer Systems Analyst.

Michael "Mickey" W. Bieller Sr., 66, of Pearl River entered into eternal rest on 
Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008. 

He was the beloved husband of Rosary Bieller for 45 years. He was the father of 
Michael W. Bieller, Jr. and Kenneth J. Bieller; father-in-law of Sheryl Bieller 
and Gina Bieller; grandfather of Michelle, Rachel, Ashley, Karen and Jacob 
Bieller; and son of the late Josephine Bieller and Walter Bieller Sr. 

He was the brother of Claire Campbell, Lucille Bieller, Joan Menzato and the 
late Mildred Bieller, Walter Bieller Jr. and Steven Bieller. 

He is also survived by many other loving nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

A native of New Orleans, Bieller was a resident of the Slidell area for the past 
29 years. He was the owner of Mastercraft Printing in Slidell.

Dean Edward Bollmeyer born on October 1, 1952 entered Heaven's gates on January 
4, 2008 in Covington, LA at the age of 55 years old.

A native of Sioux City, IA and a resident of Bush, LA for the past 16 years. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Judi. Loving father of Corey, 
Joshua, Adam, Jason, Todd and Michael. Father-in-law to Krista and Racheal. 
Grandfather of Coby, Morgan, Jada, Cameron and Alyson. Son of Eldo and Midge 
Bollmeyer. Brother of Kathy and Eldo Bollmeyer, Jr. Friend and "brother" to 
numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law who he loved dearly. Dean was 
employed at Trinity Industries in Madisonville, La for over 20 years.

Genevieve Marie LeBoeuf Bourg went to her eternal rest on Monday, January 7, 
2008, in Covington, Louisiana.

Born November 2, 1925 in Bourg, LA, she attended Terrebonne High School in 
Houma, LA and remained in southern Louisiana most of her life, most recently in 
retirement in Covington, LA. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, and 
an avid and talented gardener, cook and needle artist.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John E. and Alice Matherne LeBoeuf, 
her husband, Avis J. Bourg, a son, Carl Joel Bourg, and a son-in-law, Harold 
Cavallero, Jr. 

She is survived by her children, Avis Joseph Bourg, Jr. and his wife Suzette 
Guidroz; Catherine Bourg Haws; Stephen Dunreath Bourg and his wife Renee Patch; 
and Denise Bourg Cavallero. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, and six 
great-grandchildren.

Edward W. Boutte Jr. of Slidell passed away at home on Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at 
the age of 93. 

He was the beloved husband of Thyra L. Boutte; father of Roy Nels Boutte; 
stepfather of Sandra M. Morgott and Kim M. Mercadal; son of the late Edward and 
Jeannne Boutte; grandfather of Kirsten Boutte; and step-grandfather of Chad 
Kring, the late Kollin Kring and Joshua and Amanda Mercadal. He is also survived 
by many other relatives and friends. 

He was the retired owner of Boutte's Machine Works and a U.S. Navy veteran.

Jean "Buck" O. Buchholz, 85, of Pearl River, passed away Saturday, Dec. 22. 

He was a retired E-7 with the U.S. Navy. 

He is survived by his wife, Charmaine Milliet Buchholz, son Steve Buchholz, two 
daughters, Stormy Hansen and Janet Hoban, eight grandchildren, eight great-
grandchildren, one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley Ann and Preston 
Coyle, three nieces and one nephew and extended family, Dana and Brenda Magee. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Faye and Clarence Buchholz. 

Memorial services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul 
Catholic Church, 66192 St. Mary Drive, Pearl River.

Robert "Bob" Constantine, Sr. on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 went to be with his 
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He was born November 2, 1944 in New Orleans to the late Mary Lou Beaugh and 
Charles Constantine and was a resident of Folsom. 

He is the beloved husband of Sandra LaMarca Constantine and the loving father of 
Robert, Jr. (Andrea), Allen J. (Joanne) and Marcie T. Constantine. He is 
survived by two grandchildren, Michael and Madelyn; four brothers: Charles 
(Marie), Russell (Connie), John (Theis) and Ray (Brenda); five sisters: Rena 
Nevels, Margaret Richards (Joe), Lee Bergeron (Ray), Shirley Ledet (David) and 
Ella Ryan (Rod). 

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Garland Nevels and a sister-in-law 
Phyllis Constantine.

Bob was a devoted servant of Christ and a committed member of New Zion Baptist 
Church.

Covington, LA 70435) on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 11:00 AM.

Funeral Services at 1:00 PM will be followed by interment at New Zion Church

Carrie Jacob Crowe was lifted into heaven by God's loving hands on Jan. 3, 2008. 
She was a resident of Pearl River. 

She is survived by her devoted husband, Steven Eric Crowe, and their two sons, 
Seth and Sabin Crowe, and by her children, Amber Brooks and her husband, Al, 
Aaron, Jason and Danielle Guidry and her stepsons, Eric Crowe and his wife, 
Ashley, Brent, Lance and Dusty Crowe; her three grandchildren, Christy, Shane 
and Alyssa. Carrie will be sorely missed by her mother, Brenda Lambert 
Zimmerman, and her father, Terry James Jacob, along with her stepmother, Marge 
Jacob, and her stepfather, Bill Zimmermann. 

She is also survived by her sister, Cindy Casso, and her husband, Scott, by her 
brother, Todd Jacob, and his wife, Deanna, and by her sister, Christy Reggio, 
and her husband Roger, and Caryn Z. Baudean. She is also survived by her 
stepbrother, Jay Boyd, and his wife, Eve. 

She will be missed by her in-laws, Sue and Levi Crowe, her sisters-in-law, 
Regina Scott and her husband, Winston and Natasha Silcio and her husband, 
Donald, and her brothers-in-law, Jerald and his wife, Martha and Dennis Crowe. 

Her bright eyes and beautiful smile will also be missed by her numerous nieces 
and nephews and by her many friends from New Jerusalem Praise and Worship Center 
in Pearl River. 

Funeral services were held Jan. 5 at New Jersusalem Praise and Worship Center. 
Interment followed in Crowe Cemetery.

DEWITT, WILLIAM 

William Dewitt, 67, born Feb. 21, 1940, of Dermott, Ark., passed away Monday, 
Dec. 10, 2007, at a local Arkansas hospital. 

He was born and raised in Arkansas and Missouri was called home for a while. He 
resided in Covington for most of his life before returning to Arkansas. While in 
Louisiana, he made many friends within St. Tammany Parish and around the state 
of Louisiana. He was known to the local area as "WL" or "Dub." He lived his life 
based on faith in his Lord and Savior. 

He is survived by two sons, William Nathan Dewitt of Tylertown, Miss. and 
William Wendell Ray Dewitt of Paragould, Ark.; one daughter, Joan Dewitt Morgan 
of Morgan City; two brothers, Charles Dewitt Sr. of Madisonville and Floyd Paul 
Dewitt of Doniphan, Mo.; two sisters, Sylvia Atwood of Naylor, Mo. and Goldie

and Jacob Beckler and Christopher Nathan Dighton. He is also survived by 
numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Dewitt Sr. and Ida Mae Trout 
Dewitt; two brothers, Robert Dewitt Jr. and an infant brother; and three 
sisters, Edna Dewitt Perrilloux, Flossie Marie Statler and Violet Dewitt. 

Funeral services were held Dec. 15 at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in 
Neelyville, Mo. Interment was in Naylor, Mo.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Jane Bene Downey, and his grandparents, 
Gene and Lorine Bene and Edward Downey.

Paul Clifford Dugas Sr. of Slidell passed away in the presence of his wife and 
children on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at his home in Slidell. 

He was the beloved husband of Lucille Tonguis Dugas for 61 years; father of Paul 
Clifford Dugas Jr., Deanna Marie-Louise Dugas, Guy Lawrence Dugas, Cecelia Marie 
Dugas and Clifford Lawrence Dugas; father-in-law of Rebecca Harris Dugas, 
Janelle Noto Dugas and Christine Balducci Dugas; and son of the late Clay E. 
Dugas and Nellie Aucoin Dugas. 

He was the brother of Raymond Dugas and the late Gertie, Anna, Lollie, Clay T., 
Mabel, Hubert, Haywood, Alvin and Lois. 

He is also survived by six grandchildren: Jessica, Alyssa, Bethany, Austin, 
Destiny and Demi and other numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. 

A native of Napoleonville and a longtime resident of Slidell, Dugas was a 
retired refrigeration and air conditioning engineer. 

He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII and served on the ship 
that the Japanese surrendered on. He was a proud member of the Knights of 
Columbus for 58 years and is currently a 4th Degree Knight of the KC Council 
2732 in Slidell. 

Along with his wife, Dugas was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes 
Church in Slidell. 

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral 
Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 325 Westchester St., Slidell, on Friday, 
Jan. 18, 2008, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be at church from 10-11 a.m. Interment

Walter Frederick Eastman, 72, of Slidell passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at 
Northshore Regional Medical Center in Slidell. 

He was the beloved husband of Bettye Joyce Baker Eastman; father of William Carl 
Schroeder Jr., Georgette "GiGi" Claire Eastman Head, Carol Lynn Schroeder 
Hathway, Frederick Anson Eastman, Tina Marie Schroeder Robertson, Terri Dianne 
Schroeder Stewart and John Mark Schroeder; and son of the late Ellery Martin 
Eastman and Lillian Edith Preston Eastman. 

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. 

A native of Boston, Mr. Eastman was a retired senior scheduler for Martin 
Marietta. He was past governer for the Loyal Order of Moose, four-time Moose 
Legion Ambassador and was a Mooseheart Appointee. He received his Fellowship 
Degree and Pilgrim Degree, which is the highest honor received by a member. 

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
at Honaker Funeral Home, 751 Gause Blvd. West (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), 
Slidell, at noon Tuesday. Pastor David Robertson will be officiating. Interment

William "Bill" K. Fischer Jr., 53, passed away Jan. 29, 2008, at 5:15 p.m. 

Fischer was born in New Orleans and graduated from Covington High School in 
1973. He was a longtime resident of Houston. 

Fischer was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Fischer, in 2006. 

He is survived by one sister and two brothers: Jana, Robert, and David. He is 
also survived by his two wonderful sister-in-laws, Barbara Fischer and Mary Jane 
Fischer, and a wonderful brother-in-law, Wayne McLain. 

Bill also is survived by his son, Will Fischer, 14, as well as five nephews and 
two nieces. 

Celebration of Life Ceremony for Fischer will be held Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. at 
Christ Episcopal Church in Covington.

Chad "Chunk" Steven Guerin was 23 years old, born Aug. 13, 1984. He was a 
resident and native of Folsom and employed by American Cooling & Heating Co. He 
died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, as a result of an automobile accident on Louisiana 
Highway 438.

He is survived by his parents, Sherwood "Woody" and Cheryl Guerin of Folsom; 
sister Cheri DeMello Guerin of Baton Rouge; brother MSgt Jimmy and wife Sylvia 
Guerin of San Antonio; brother Kenny Guerin of Folsom; brother-in-law Lloyd 
Hackney of Madisonville; nephew Michael and wife Gwen Hackney of Madisonville, 
niece Chelsea and husband Seth Crane of Madisonville, nieces Brianna and Haley 
Guerin of San Antonio, great-nephews Cole Hackney, Chase Crane, Dawson Hackney; 
aunts, uncles and cousins in Franklinton and New Orleans; beloved bulldog Max;

(July 21, 1929 - January 1, 2008)

Carol Saunders Jahncke passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2008.

She was born July 21, 1929 in New Orleans to the late Mea East and Eugene D. 
Saunders and was a resident of Covington most of her life. She was the beloved 
wife of the late Herbert G. Jahncke, Sr.; mother of Kennedy S. and the late Roy 
S. Harrison and sister of Sylvia "Tee-Ta" Davis. Also affectionately known as 
'Gannie', she is survived by three grandchildren: Sean, Jennifer, and Colin 
Harrison.

Carol Jahncke was in many regards a Covington icon. She owned several shops in 
Covington most notably 'Carol's Corner', a small book store. Her love of 
Louisiana and Covington in particular led her to write several books including 
Mr. Kensel's Covington, Louisiana Visit, and The Christmas Spirit. Carol 
Jahncke's extensive list of civic involvement includes her writing and promotion 
of the official Covington hymn 'I'm in Love Again With Covington'. She logged 
many volunteer hours with St. Tammany Hospital as well as The Hospice of St. 
Tammany. In memory of her late husband, she donated several items to and worked 
at the Maritime Museum in Madisonville where she was known, in character, as 
Mrs. Thurston. Carol Jahncke was indeed an uptown philosopher to all those who 
knew her: she was a hiker having hiked most of the Appalachian Trail, she was a 
well accomplished golfer, and she was especially an avid gardener. But most of 
all she was a lover who enjoyed doing all of these activities with her late 
husband Herbert. Her grave marker will read: "Where Herbert leads, Carol 
follows... where to next?"

Mrs. Johnson retired as a secretary after working in public schools in Arkansas 
and Oklahoma for many years. She was a member of St. Andrew Baptist Church and 
the Chapel Sunday School class. 

Mrs. Johnson was predeceased by her husband, Willie J. Johnson; her first 
husband, Olan Homer Bourns; son, Olan Bourns; and two sisters: Lucille Bush and 
Ailene Hicks. Survivors include her daughter, Karen Claunch and husband Dr. 
Michael Claunch of Lynn Haven; her stepson, David Johnson of San Francisco; her 
stepdaughter, Susan Cox of College Station, Texas; sister, Charlotte Shreve of 
Jonesboro, Ark.; her grandchildren, Jeremy Claunch, Kyle Claunch, Heather Glaze,

very creative artist, author and inventor, a member of the Porcelain Art Club,

Pageant at Ponchartrain Beach in 1939. She was as beautiful on the inside as she 
was on the outside.

LANDON, LEICESTER LLWELLHYNN "LES" 

Leicester Llwellhynn "Les" Landon, DVM, FRSH, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 
2007. 

He was 86, a native of New Orleans, a resident of Baton Rouge and a former 
resident of Covington. 

A WWII veteran, he served as a lieutenant on Destroyer Escorts in the U.S. Navy, 
fighting in the Pacific theater. 

He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Southeastern Louisiana College in 
1942, and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia in 
1950. 

He served on the UGA veterinary school faculty from 1951 until 1952, and opened 
a private veterinary practice in Covington in 1952. He retired in 2000. 

Dr. Landon was one of the founders of Playmakers Theater and the Krewe of 
Olympia in Covington. 

He served as a deacon and elder of the Covington Presbyterian Church, and later 
taught Bible classes and was a member of the Living Word Church in Covington. 

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Joyce Elsa Jackson, and three 
children, Leicester Landon II of Baton Rouge, Laurence Landon of Richmond, Va., 
and Victoria Landon of Austin, Texas. 

He is also survived by two grandsons, Laurence Landon, II of Lafayette and 
Leicester Landon, III of New York City, and a great-grandson, Jackson Landon of 
Lafayette. 

He was preceded in death by one son, Lewis Landon, IV, his parents, Lewis 
Landon, II and Estelle Zeitvogel Landon, and one brother, Lewis Landon, III. 

A memorial service was held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at University Baptist Church 
in Baton Rouge.

He was an addict drag racer.

Laurent; two sons, Ike Laurent Jr. and Isiah Laurent, all of Lacombe; two 
brothers, Monroe Laurent Sr. and Rickey Ducre, and one sister, Patricia Ducre,

He was cremated.

for the past 29 years. A graduate of LaGrange High School, he attended McNeese 
State University and was a salesman of oilfield pipe, supplies, offshore cranes 
and fish fry tickets. He was a member of the Holy Names Society of St. Benedict 
and an usher at St. Benedict Catholic Church. He was currently serving as a 
board member of the LA Quarter Horse Breeders Association.

MEINERS, CARRIE MAE 

Carrie Mae Meiners, 49, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at Terrebonne 
General Hospital in Houma from injuries due to an automobile accident earlier 
that day. 

She was the beloved wife of Mark Judice of Broussard and the mother of Nicholas 
Judice and his wife, Emily, of Marrero. She was the daughter of Frederick N. 
Meiners Jr. and Barbara North Meiners. Carrie was the sister of Anna Meiners and 
Frederick N. Meiners III. 

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frederick N. Meiners Sr. and Cleo 
Glockner Meiners, Amore E. North and Eunice Moore North. 

Interment was at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetary in Broussard. 

A native of Mandeville and resident of Lafayette Parish for most of her life, 
Mrs. Judice was a loving mother, future grandmother, daughter, sister, friend to 
all who knew her. 

Mrs. Judice was employed as a registered nurse for 25 years at Lafayette General 
Medical Center and for the past four years at Lafayette Surgical Hospital and 
also worked at Park Place Surgery Center. In 2006, she was awarded the 
"Excellence in Clinical Practice." 

Mrs. Judice was currently working on her Master's Degree in nursing at ULL and 
was also an officer with the Louisiana Association of Post Anesthesia Nurses. 

She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, visiting plantation homes and gardens. 
She was also an associate of Mary Kay Cosmetics. 

Mrs. Judice was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church Community 
in Broussard. Her passion in life was always her family, especially her husband 
and son, whom she adored. Carrie will be dearly missed not only by family and 
friends, but by all of those whose lives she has touched throughout the years.

John P. Moore passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2008.

He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy Henderson Moore; four children: 
Elizabeth M. Novak, Craig H. and David S. Moore, Jane M. Johnson and seven 
grandchildren. He is the brother of Mary Franklin Cherry and the late Joseph 
Moore.

Mr. Moore served in the Navy during WW II and was employed by Shell Oil as a 
Petroleum Engineer until his retirement. He joined the first United Methodist 
Church of Covington when he moved into the community 40 years ago and briefly 
served on the Board of Directors for Tchefuncte Club Estates. He also enjoyed 
his membership at the St. Tammany Woodworkers Association and volunteering his 
time for the Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival.

O'SULLIVAN, RITA STOCKSTILL 

Rita Stockstill O'Sullivan was embraced in God's arms on Thursday, Jan. 24, 
2008, at 6:10 p.m. 

An indomitable warrior, her strength never waivered. She joins her mother, 
Bonnie Pratt, in heaven and together they rejoice again. 

Rita is a true inspiration to her father, Walter G. "Bub" Pratt, and her 
daughter and kindred spirit, Amara Joy Blust. She found her soul mate in Dan 
O'Sullivan and their hearts flowed together on April 21, 2001. This union 
blessed her with three beautiful "Children by Choice": Caitlin, Maureen and 
Kevin, whom she was proud to consider as her own. 

She shared that special bond that only sisters can understand with both Angelia 
Yacavone and Kay Chandler and was fortunate enough to find additional sisters in 
Grace Marshall and Suzanne Parsons Stymiest, who served as her pillars of 
strength. Another joyful blessed layer of Rita's life was her grandchildren, 
Alexis and Greyson Blust. What a legacy of inspiration, courage and strength she 
leaves for them and for all whose life she touched over the course of her 
teaching and theatrical careers. 

Over the course of the past 25 years, Rita has offered her humor, her insights 
and her demands for excellence to everyone she touched. Whether it was in her 
English classes, theatrical performances and productions, or her commitment to 
the children she taught theater, Rita's dedication, contagious spirit and love 
inspired us and made us better people. 

Rita's visitation will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, 
Slidell, today from 6-9 p.m. The service celebrating the journey of this 
incredible woman's life will be that evening at 7:00p.m. 

Rita will finally rest in the place that brought her the most peace, Pensacola 
Beach, Fla., where she will spend eternity with her Lord with sand between her 
toes.

Juan Jose' "Chochi" Quintanilla, 69, of Slidell, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 
26, 2008, at Northshore Regional Medical Center of heart failure. 

He was the beloved husband of Olga Madrid Quintanilla, (married 29 years); 
father of Mercedes (Lenny) Schmit of Gainesville, Fla., Rick (Carolyn) 
Quintanilla of Lecanto, Fla., Patricia Miller of Beverly Hills, Fla., Glenia 
(Carlos) Rios of Houston; and his beloved dog Max, whom he adored. 

He was the son of the late Jose' R. and Emma Meza Quintanilla; brother of Carlos 
Quintanilla, Edy Quintanilla, Rene Quintanilla, Tulio Quintanilla, Aurora Ruiz, 
Melida Murillo, Gladys Andino and Yolanda Silva; and grandfather of Chris and 
Bryce Schmit, Jordan, Jency, and Hannah Quintanilla, Koty and Shi Veltman and 
many more grandchildren. 

A native of Jutiapa, Honduras and resident of Slidell for the past 24 years, he 
was former vice president of operations at Forster Corp. in Chalmette and was a 
parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. He will be missed by many. 

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. 

Services with Spanish Mass will be held at today at 11 a.m. at Honaker Funeral

Anna Ray Simkin Regenbogen, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2008.

Beloved wife of the late Bernard Regenbogen; loving mother to Lucille R. Banquer 
and her husband Paul, Kathleen R. Herleikson (John Joseph Almon, Jr.), and the 
late Sheri Fay Regenbogen; grandmother to Blair Blitz (Melissa Hebert), Jeffrey 
Banquer and his fiance' Casie Steib, Miles Herleikson, Jr. (Jessica Mina), 
Stephen Blitz, Josh Herleikson and Michael Blitz, sister to Kay Simkin Lemaster 
and her husband Ebb Lemaster and Dorothy Simkin. 

She was also preceded in death by her mother, Fania Kramsky and her father, 
Louis Simkin.

Age 78 years. A native of New Orleans, LA, she had been a resident of Abita 
Springs, LA for the past 10 years.

A graveside service was conducted for immediate family on Thursday, January 24, 
2008 at 2:00 PM at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

Margaret (Peggy) Jerome Sampson died peacefully on January 13, 2008. 

She was born October 1, 1915 and grew up in Minneapolis.

Peggy is pre-deceased by her husband Charles Milburn Sampson and is survived by 
three children: Charles J. Sampson and his wife Linda, Mary S. Nawrocki and her 
husband Chris, Dick Sampson along with his wife Marjorie. Peggy also leaves 
seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Most recently she lived in Covington for 37 years preceded by many years in 
Westport, Connecticut, Metairie and Port Sulphur, LA as well as Freeport, TX. 
She earned her BS at the University of Minnesota and completed some graduate 
work at Mills College in California. 

She was actively involved with the Covington Chapter of the American Association 
of University Women and committed time to volunteer work with organizations such 
as the Red Cross and Head Start. 

Peggy lived an active life with special interests in travel, sailing, golfing, 
ice skating and she always maintained an affiliation with the Presbyterian 
Church.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend memorial services on 
Friday, January 18, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home

Ronald Owen Sharp passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2008.

Ronnie was a wonderful and giving Husband, Dad and Poppy. He is survived by his 
loving wife Sue King Sharp; one daughter, Kimberly Sharp Jenkins; two 
granddaughters, Caroline Jenkins Helton and her husband Kyle, Kaylynn Jenkins 
and one great-granddaughter, Kyleigh Helton. He was preceded in death by his 
mother, Eleanor Taylor Sharp Passman. He is also survived by three half-sisters: 
Tana P. Gazzillo, Suzanne P. Snider and Suzette Passman.

At age 61, Ronnie was a life resident of St. Tammany Parish.

Thelma "Pon" Marie Beatrice Ruiz Sihvonen, beloved wife, mother, "Grannie", and 
friend, died at her home on Saturday, January 12, 2008, on her 90th Birthday.

She was born January 12, 1918, in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

She is survived by her son, John Phillip Sihvonen; two daughters, Ann Lynne 
Sihvonen Mayo and Sue Boland Sihvonen DuCros; her sisters-in-law Mildred Bowman 
Ruiz and Sigrid Sihvonen Laitala; her daughter-in-law, Susan Lynn Kraft 
Sihvonen; her "Gems" (grandchildren), Amy Boland Mayo McLin, John Sihvonen Mayo, 
Elizabeth Lynn Sihvonen Weissinger, Matt Victor Sihvonen, and Sarah Kraft 
Sihvonen; her grand-sons-in-law, Ian Michael McLin and Ryan Guiam Weissinger; 
her "Crown Princes" (great-grandchildren), Thomas Boland McLin and James Victor 
Weissinger. 

She was pre-deceased by her parents Adolph Phillip Ruiz and Thelma Cooper Hill; 
her husband of 28 years, Sulo Victor Sihvonen; her two brothers, George Walter 
Ruiz and Adolph Phillip Ruiz, Jr.; her sister-in-law, Joyce Sanama Ruiz; and her 
son-in-law, Jerry Gene Mayo.

She graduated from Touro Infirmary School of Nursing in 1939 and worked as a 
public health nurse in Bastrop, Louisiana, prior to marriage and military 
service. As a 1st Lieutenant in the 24th General Hospital Unit of the United 
States Army during World War II, she served her country as an Army nurse in 
Italy and North Africa from 1943 to 1946. 

As a newly wed, she and her husband moved to Crossett, Arkansas where they 
raised their family. Pon was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of 
Crossett, serving as Treasurer of the Church Circle and Women of the Church. As 
an active mother, homemaker, and volunteer, she served as den mother for her 
son's Cub Scout troop for two years and as Girl Scout troop leader for her 
daughters for 10 years. She was also involved with the American Cancer Society 
serving as memorial chairman for 5 years and County Chairman for 1 year. A 
lifelong Republican and avid political enthusiast, Pon was active in the GOP in 
Ashley County, Arkansas; serving as their president for three years and also 
serving on a statewide level. She was an alternate delegate to the Republican 
National Convention in 1972. Pon was also a charter member of the League of 
Women Voters.

In 1986, she returned to Louisiana to be near relatives. In recent years, she 
has enjoyed her involvement in the Daughters of the American Revolution, United 
Daughters of the Confederacy, National Society Daughters of Eighteen Hundred and 
Twelve, National Society Southern Dames of America, and the American Legion.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a visitation at Holy Trinity 
Lutheran Church, 1 North Marigold Drive, Covington, Louisiana, on Tuesday, 
January 15, 2008 at 9:00 a.m., a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. There will be a 
reception following the service. Pon will be buried next to her husband at the 
Crossroads Cemetery in Crossett, Arkansas.

Joseph Marion Vernaci, 81, of Helena, Ala., passed away on Jan. 13, 2008. He was

He was a graduate of Jesuit High School and Loyola University in New Orleans. He 
served in the armed forced in WWII and he was a member of the Buck Creek Masonic 
Lodge No. 410, Zamora Shriners and Helena United Methodist Church. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion J. Vernaci and Rose Picone 
Vernaci. 

He is survived by his wife, Benita Vining Vernaci; daughters, Karen Vernaci 
Ferro, Michelle Vernaci Tine and Benita Vernaci Risch; stepchildren, Gordon 
Wayne Carline and Duane Carline Jones and many grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held today at Helena United Methodist Church at 1 p.m.

Donald Claiborne Wanner passed away on Friday, January 25, 2008.

A native and life resident of the Covington/Madisonville area, he was born 
February 15, 1931 to the late Andrew and Hazel Rester Wanner.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elmera Fletcher Wanner; three 
children: Donna Lee Efferson, Daniel J. Wanner and Lalanne W. Motichek; one 
brother, Jerry Wanner and one sister, Joan W. Edwards. He is also survived by 
eight grandchildren: Shawn Marie Graphia, Kristy M. Haik, Donald "Clay"

He moved to the area from New Orleans 21 years ago. He was a pipeline welder and

He is survived by his wife, Denise Weems of Picayune; mother, Faye Price of 
Gretna; two sons, Michael (Hope) Weems of Carriere and John (Cassie) Weems of 
Picayune; a daughter, Dana Weems of Carriere; a sister, Karen (Dane) Dufrene of 
Gretna and four grandchildren, Hallie, Makai, Jaxon and Juliana.

Davis Young Jr., (Black Rider, Toetoe) age 91, passed away Dec. 30, 2007, at 
Northshore Living Center. 

He was born in Bonfouca and was a resident of Slidell. He was a retired Southern 
Shipyard Sandblaster. He served in the Army during WWII. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Davis Young Sr., his mother, Louisa Page 
Young, and his wife, Juanita Crandall Young. 

He is survived by one son, Melvin Young of Wallis, Texas, and six daughters, 
Dorothy Stokes, Jerry Dean Ray and Deborah Williams, all of Slidell, Albertha 
Vaultz of Los Angeles, Yvonne Adger of Carson, Calif., and Earlean Porter of 
Ponder, Texas. 

He is also survived by one brother, Clarence Young of New Orleans, and three 
sisters, Mary Wren of New Orleans and Thelma Butler and Alma Young, both of 
Slidell. He has 24 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-
grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at noon at Mt. Olive AME 
Church, 2457 Second St., Slidell. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until funeral time. 
Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Slidell.
