Patricia Cooper Allen, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2008.

Beloved mother of Gail Buffington Koch and her husband Harold; and sister to 
Norma Jean Cooper and Leola M. Hoover. She was also survived by numerous nieces 
and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Dorman Allen; 
mother, Allie Strickler Cooper; father, James M. Cooper; sisters, Margaret 
Bingham, Mary Greeson, Lois White and Lena Carper; and brothers, Lawrence and 
Buster Cooper.

Age 76 years. A native of Cromwell, OK, she was a resident of Mandeville, LA for 
the past 5 years, and Dallas, TX for 37 years prior.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services in 
Covington, LA on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel at E.J. 
Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433, visitation 
will begin at 1:30 PM. And in Tulsa, OK on Friday, May 23, 2008 at 2:00 PM at 
the Chapel at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 East 51st Street, Tulsa, OK 74145, 
visitation will begin at 1:00 PM.

Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, OK.

ANDERSON, DOUGLAS J. 

Douglas J. Anderson, 64, of Slidell, died Thursday, May 8, 2008.

He was the beloved companion of Peggy Levy and her son Roy Wonsch.

He was the son of the late Joseph Anderson and Margaret Resetar Anderson; 
brother of Marilyn Romero; and uncle of Marilyn Mora, Dr. Michelle Gabai, Mathew 
Romero, Rene Romero, Rosanne Crodova, Laurie Romero and Crystal Romero.

A native of Detroit, he was a resident of Slidell over 40 years.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell, on 
Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at 10 a.m.

Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday after 9 a.m. until the 
funeral.

Donations to Parkinsons Research preferred in lieu of flowers.

ANDERSON, THOMAS ANN 

On Thursday, May 22, 2008, Thomas Ann Anderson at the age of 62 was called to 
her heavenly home. She was the foster daughter of Mattie Beck and the late Rev. 
Dr. Joe Beck of Picayune, Miss.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 30, at 11 a.m. in East Jerusalem 
Missionary Baptist Church.

The Rev. Donald Parker will officiate at the service, assisted by Pastor Brian 
K. Dees. Burial will be in the Picayune Cemetery under the direction of Brown's 
Funeral Home.

A native of Picayune, she was an organist and a member of East Jerusalem 
Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the Junior Mission 
and a Vacation Bible School teacher. Thomas Ann retired from Crosby Memorial 
Hospital and continued her tutoring of neighborhood children in music and 
academics.

One son, Bryant Hardaway, preceded her in death. She is survived by a loving and 
devoted daughter, Stefaine Hardaway of New Orleans; one brother, Elder Ronald 
Victor of Picayune; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be May 30 from 10-11 a.m. in East Jerusalem Missionary Baptist 
Church. Brown's Funeral Home of Picayune is in charge of arrangments.

BADON, JOHN LOGAN, JR.
(November 14, 1928 - May 30, 2008)

John Logan "Pop" Badon, Jr. passed away on Friday, May 30, 2008.

Beloved father of Richard Badon and his wife Patty and Donna Autin and her 
husband Ernie; grandfather of six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He 
was preceded in death by his wife Mavis Thompson Badon; father, John Logan 
Badon, Sr.; and mother, Allie Bateman Badon.

Age 79 years. A native of Memphis, TN and a resident of Covington, LA.

Special thanks to his Forest Manor Nursing Home family for their loving care 
during the past two years.

Graveside services will be private at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

Margaret "Peggy" Sullivan Behrens passed away on Monday, May 26, 2008.

Born in New Orleans, LA and a resident of Covington, LA for 30 years. She was 
92.

She was the beloved wife of the late Remick V. Behrens and daughter of the late 
Francis and Hannah Sullivan. Peggy was the mother of John Behrens, Mary (Brian) 
McCarthy, Father James Stephen Behrens, Robert (Marnie) Behrens, Meg (Jim) 
Brown, Peter (Bonnie) Behrens and the late Gregory James Behrens. She is also 
survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass on 
Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 11:00 AM from E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 
21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433. Visitation on Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 
PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM and on Thursday from 9:30 AM until service time.

BOLTON, WANDA WILLIAMSON 

Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of 
Picayune, Miss., for Wanda Williamson Bolton, 61, of Picayune, who died Monday, 
May 12, 2008, in Picayune.

Burial will be in the New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald 
Funeral Home, Picayune.

The Rev. Clint Gill will officiate at the service.

A native of Collins, Miss., she was a registered nurse and a member of First 
Baptist Church of Picayune. In addition, she was on the Board of Directors for 
United Way and was a member of The Civic Women's Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Oma Lee Williamson, and one 
sister, Mae Leggett.

Survivors include her husband, Dewitt L. Bolton, M.D.; three sons, Charles C. 
Bolton of Greensboro, N.C., Kevin C. Stockstill of Slidell and Dewitt L. Bolton 
III of Oxford, Miss.; three daughters, Lynn Bolton of Atlanta, Elizabeth Blakely 
of Hahira, Ga., and Laurie Bounds of Picayune; six sisters, Brenda Rowell of 
Columbus, Ga., Polly Autry of Seminary, Miss., Mackie Clark of Mt. Olive, Miss., 
Nancy Beech of Ellisville, Miss., Rita Griffith of Prentiss, Miss., and Amber 
Magee of Petal, Miss.; three brothers, Graham Williamson, Lloyd Williamson and 
Chuck Williamson all of Petal, Miss.; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church of 
Picayune.

Claire Jeanfreau Bourgeois, 86, of Slidell, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2008, 
at Slidell Memorial Hospital.

She was the beloved wife of Emmanuel A. Bourgeois Sr. for 61 years; mother of 
Emmanuel A. Bourgeois Jr., Louis E. Bourgeois, Clyde J. Bourgeois, Gerry M. 
Bourgeois and the late Wayne O. Bourgeois, daughter of the late Louis Jeanfreau 
Sr. and Rose Marie Diaz Jeanfreau; Sister of the late Louis Jeanfreau Jr. She 
also survived by 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and other relatives 
and friends.

Bourgeois was a native of St. Bernard and a resident of Slidell since 1953. Miz 
Claire was the owner and operator of Jeanfreau's Fisherman's Rest on Chef Hwy. 
Along with her husband, she was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 
in Slidell for many years.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. W. (in Forest Lawn Cemetery) Slidell 
at noon May 27. Interment will follow in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.

Rollo Joseph Bourgeois, Jr. passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2008.

He was born September 8, 1939 in Hester, LA to the late Mathilda Haydel and 
Rollo J. Bourgeois, Sr. As a young man he lived many years in Westwego and has 
been a resident of Bush, LA since 1986.

The beloved husband of Dorothy Bordelon Bourgeois, he is survived by one 
daughter, Elizabeth B. Guzzardo (Doug); one son, Robert J. Bourgeois (Tiffany); 
four grandchildren: Mason R. Bourgeois, Laura E., Anna M. and Stephen J. 
Guzzardo and one brother, Randall F. Bourgeois.

Mr. Bourgeois served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-1963 and 
retired from Camco, Inc, an oil tool production Company, as Sales Manager after 
25 years of service.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial mass on 
Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 10:00 AM from St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 6425 
West Metairie Ave. Metairie, LA 70003.

BRADDY, VIRGINIA MAY "GINNY" MILLER 

Virginia May "Ginny" Miller Braddy went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2008. She 
was born on Jan. 24, 1920, in Kerrs Creek Rockbridge County, Va.

She was the daughter of Ida Harris and Frank Miller, who predeceased her. She 
was married to Virgil Braddy Sr. for 65 years until he predeceased her in 2004. 
They had three sons, Virgil Braddy Jr. of Washington State; David Miller Braddy 
of Ennis, Texas; and Jimmie Lee Braddy of Slidell. She was the grandmother of 
Dawn Sharpe, Shannon Sharpe, Allen Braddy and Andrea Olsen. She is also survived 
by nine great-grandchildren.

Ginny was very active in the community as a member of the Lakeshore Chapter No. 
59, Order of Eastern Star, Apple Pie Ridge Homemakers and Cub Scouts, to name a 
few. She was a great seamstress and cook. Her spunky personality will be missed 
by all.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services

BRADLEY, JUDITH GREGORY 

Judith Gregory Bradley, 66, of Slidell, passed away surrounded by her family on 
Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Northshore Regional Medical Center of respiratory 
failure.

She was the beloved wife of J. Lynn Bradley, Slidell, (married 45 years); mother 
of two sons, Gregory T. Bradley and wife Amy, of Temple, Texas, and Christian D. 
Bradley, Slidell; daughter of the late Harold and Leona Gregory; sister of 
Elaine Orr, Akron, Ohio, Marilyn DeLong, North Canton, Ohio, and the late Anita 
Vorndran.

She is also survived by two grandsons, Kristopher and Ronnie Blain Dyess, and 
one great-granddaughter, Kylie Dyess, all of Temple; and numerous neices and 
nephews.

A native of Akron, Ohio, and resident of Slidell for the past 40 years, she was 
a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church of Slidell and former co-
owner of Oak Hall Interiors.

Private services were held and family requests memorial gifts to Ochsner Multi-
Organ Transplant Center, Attn: Philanthropy Department, 1514 Jefferson Highway, 
New Orleans, LA 70121.

BRUSETH, ELSIE 

Elsie Bruseth, 84, of Slidell, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at 
Northshore Living Center in Slidell.

She was the beloved wife of the late Oliver J. Bruseth; mother of James E. 
Bruseth, Katherine M. Chataignier and the late Ronald Moody; daughter of the 
late Peter and Katherine Plypick; and sister of Peter Plypick of Auburn, Wash., 
and Doreen Hawyroshko of Canada.

She is also survived by two grandchildren; Lisa Spinks of Covington and Chris 
Chataignier of Destin, Fla., and two great-grandsons; Andrew Spinks and Cayden 
Chataignier.

A native of Bucovina, Romania and a resident of Slidell since 1964, Mrs. Bruseth 
was a retired real estate agent. Along with her late husband, Mrs. Bruseth ran 
and operated Bruseth Realty Co. in Slidell for many years and retired recently 
as an agent for Gertrude Gardner Realty Co.

In 1976 Elsie and her late husband Jim were the King and Queen of the Krewe of 
Perseus in Slidell. She was an avid cook and baker and was known for her 
Hummingbird Cake and Christmas cookies. She enjoyed gardening and most of all 
growing her own vegetables and flowers.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial services

James Charles Carey, Sr. passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2008.

He was the beloved husband of Mary "Tressie" Higgins Carey. Father of Nancy 
Carey Simeon (Rick) and James C. "Chuck" Carey, Jr. (Laurie). Grandfather of 
Mike, Jim and Lauren Simeon, Katie and Mollie Carey. Son of the late Barney 
Francis Carey, Sr. and Marie Jochim Carey. Brother of the late Audrey Carey 
Champagne and Barney F. Carey, Jr.

Age 80 years. A native of Abita Springs, LA and a resident of Covington, LA for 
the past 72 years.

A 1950 Graduate of L.S.U., he worked in the family's beer distributorship - 
Barney Carey Company. The company later became Jim Carey Distributing Company, 
where he served as President and Chairman of the Board.

She was the beloved wife of Brian Carter, Slidell; mother two daughters, 
Michelle Carter and Amy Hingle; mother-in-law of Eric Joseph Hingle; and 
grandmother of Angelle Elizabeth Hingle, Madison Alexis Hingle and Colin Lee 
Hingle. She was the daughter of Lucenia Smith Neal and the late Stanley M. Neal; 
sister of Gaynel Neal, Glen Neal Sr. and Gary Lind Neal; and godmother of 
Whitney Neal. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was a native of Picayune, Miss., and resident of Slidell. She was a devoted 
wife, mother and grandmother, as well as an interior designer.

John Robert Coffey Sr., age 64, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2008.

He was the beloved husband of Eileen Balser Coffey; father of Johnny Coffey 
(Elaine) and Shawn Coffey; brother of June Sanders, Joyce Klick and Jewel 
Coffey; and grandfather of Garrison and Braxton Coffey.

He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and many 
friends.

He was preceded in death by parents, Homer and Helen Coffey, and brother, James 
Coffey.

He is also survived by loving and devoted pets, "Missy" and "Reese."

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired steamship clerk at the Port of New 
Orleans. He was a member of the N.O. Clerks & Checkers ILA Local 1497 Union.

Right Reverend Monsignor Joseph Leonard Chotin, Jr., died at his home on 
Saturday, May 10, 2008.

"Father Joe", as most of his friends knew him, is survived by his sister Wanda 
Chotin Johnson and her husband, Dr. Gordon Johnson; three nieces, Patricia Ann 
Stewart and her husband Dr. Wayne Stewart, Robin Marie Scheyd and her husband 
John Scheyd and Pamela Paige Fair and her husband Mark Fair; and seven great-
nieces and nephews, Taylor, Michael, Patrick, Ryan, Austin, Tyler, and Amanda.

Age 69 years, Chotin grew up in New Orleans where he attended Sacred Heart 
Elementary School and Warren Easton High School. Having decided to enter the 
priesthood, he attended St. Mary's Seminary in Kentucky, where he studied Latin 
for two years. He continued his study of Latin at Conception Abbey in Missouri, 
before completing his training at Notre Dame Seminary. After ordination, he 
served as Assistant Pastor at Holy Cross Parish in Morgan City and then at St. 
Joseph's Parish in Chauvin. Following these assignments, he assumed the position 
of Vocations Director, first for the tri-parish area then for the New Orleans 
Archdiocese. Father Joe served as pastor of Our Lady of the Lake Parish from 
1979 to 2001. In retirement, he continued to play an important role in the life 
of the Parish. He will be greatly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Archbishop Alfred Hughes on 
Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 3:00 PM at St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Road, St. 
Benedict, LA 70457.

Visitation will be on Wednesday May 14, 2008 from 7:00 to 10:00 PM at Our Lady 
of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte Street, Mandeville, LA 70448 and on 
Thursday May 15, 2008 from 12:30 to 3:00 PM at St. Joseph Abbey.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery.

John "Jack" Cressend, Jr. passed away at his home in Mandeville on Friday, May 
2, 2008. 

He was born November 11, 1946 in New Orleans to Amelie Prados Cressend and the 
late John B. Cressend, Sr.

The beloved husband of Juanita Maestri Cressend, he is survived by three 
children: Emily, Jack and Gary; his daughters-in-law, Katy and Jamie; three 
grandchildren, Cole and Cameron Cressend, William Lazar and two brothers, Rufus 
P. and Paul G. Cressend. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary C. 
Macgregor.

He served four years in the United States Air Force with a tour in Vietnam and 
was most recently employed by Oce Corporate Printing/North America as their 
General Manager. He was a dedicated and loving son, husband, father, grandfather 
and brother with a passion for fishing. He will be sadly missed by his family, 
friends and co-workers.

Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 11:00 AM from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312

Leona Ott Curran passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2008. 

She was born December 20, 1913 in Wann, OK to the late Olive St. Claire and 
Joseph Wyngate Ott.

The beloved wife of the late Joseph L. Curran, Sr., she is survived three 
children: Suzanne Curran, Joseph Laurence, Jr. and Stanley Frank Curran; two 
sisters, Eula Mae Cummings and Juanita Williams; two grandchildren, Marisa C.

FERGUSON, NORMA ROSE PENTON 

Mrs. Norma Rose Penton Ferguson passed away May 7, 2008, in the year of our 
Lord. She went on to be with Jesus. She was born Sept. 4, 1942, during World War 
II.

She was a lifelong resident of Pearl River. Her family has been in Pearl River 
since 1888. She was a member of Jesus Name Apostolic Church in Pearl River. She 
was the most beautiful, loving and caring lady who never met a stranger. She 
never had an unkind word for anyone, and she never turned anyone away that 
needed help or someone to talk to. She loved and lived for Jesus, her church, 
her family and friends. She was totally devoted and committed to all of them.

She is survived by three sons, Samuel Michael, William "Sam" (Vonda) and Samuel 
March (Patricia) Ferguson; one daughter, Norma Louise (Tony) Crawley; and eight 
grandchildren, Sam (Ann), Tinisha (Gary), Chris (Angie), Scott (Deanna), Candace 
(Ray) Ferguson, Samantha, Shelia and David (Tammy) Crawley. She is also survived 
by eight great-grandchildren, Damian and Danni-Lynn Ferguson, Kyle, Elisha and 
Hannah Crawler, Emily McQueen, Kaitlyn Joles and Alexis Morse and numberous 
nieces and nephews. Also by her lifelong best friend, Bobbie Rose Frierson and 
other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. William Sam Ferguson, her 
parents, Ellis and Idonia Penton Sr.; grandparents, Albert and Nancy Penton; 
four brothers, Artis, Leon Joseph, Michael and Ellis Penton Jr.; and one sister, 
Louise Kennedy.

Funeral services were held May 13 at Jesus Name Apostolic Church in Pearl River. 
Interment followed in Audubon Cemetery.

Sister Bessie Henderson, Brother Waller, Brother David Kennedy, Brother Pierce 
and Brother Brad Heffner officiated.

recreation baseball and basketball for her children. A loyal supporter of her 
grandchildren's sporting events and FHS sports. Special thanks to Karen Jenkins;

Anna Natalie Goodwyn Hebert, age 81 years, died on Wednesday, May 21, 2008.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Covington, LA. She was retired as the 
owner/operator of The St. Tammany Farmer, a weekly newspaper purchased by her 
father in 1928. She began working there in 1950 following the death of her 
brother, Howard K. Goodwyn, Jr. She was the daughter of the late Howard Keener 
"Nat" Goodwyn and Anna Frederick Goodwyn. Mrs. Hebert was married for 46 years 
to the late John S. "Jack" Hebert, Sr. and was mother to five sons; Howard Alan 
Hebert of Pearl River, David Bruce Hebert of Covington, Paul Leon Hebert of 
Maysville, GA, Gregory Goodwyn Hebert of Folsom and the late John S. Hebert, Jr. 
She is survived by 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was a 1944 graduate of Lyon High School, a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic 
Church and a represented St. Peter Parish at Senior Mass at St. Louis Cathedral 
in 1999, served with the hospitality ministry, a member of the St. Peter Alter 
Society having served as recording secretary, a member of NAIM having served as 
president for two years, a charter member of the Covington Kaycettes serving as 
recording secretary and parliamentarian, a member of the St. Tammany Hospital 
Guild serving as chairman of the Memorial Scholarship Fund and was a 1953 queen 
of the Krewe of Kaa Cee.

Mrs. Helen Anna June Herrmann, 84, of Morganton, Ga., passed away Friday, May 2, 
2008, following an extended illness with cancer.

She was born in Elizabeth, N.J., to the late William and Annastacia Diebel 
Kaiser.

Mrs. Herrmann was a loving mother, homemaker and wife. She was a former resident 
of Springfield, N.J., and Ft. Pierce, Fla., where she was a member of the 
Presbyterian churches. She was also active in the High Point Women's Club in Ft. 
Pierce and was also active as a Hospice volunteer and the Republican Women's 
Club in Slidell.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Walter Weston Baldwin of 41 years and 
Ray Herrmann of 11 years.

Survivors included one daughter, Deborah and husband John Edward Thompson of 
Morganton, Ga.; stepdaughters, Cheryl Jacquin of Ft. Pierce, Fla., and Barbara, 
also of Florida; sister, Dorothy and husband Bob Geiger of Brielle, N.J.; 
grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy Edward and Dawn Marie Thompson, Gregory 
Scott and Kelli Lynn Thompson, and Adam Alexander Weston Thompson; and great- 
grandchildren, Jonah and Micah Thompson.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. from the 
Akins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lisa Moore officiating. Music was 
provided by Min. Alan Abernathy and Elizabeth Hunt. Interment followed in the 
Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery.

Preceded in death by husbands Walter G. Doherty in 1994 and Fred S. Irwin in 
1999.

Mrs. Mary Doherty-Irwin was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 
Whisperwood Homeowners Association, East St. Tammany Mental Health Association 
Board, AARP, and for many years a member of Slidell Business & Professional 
Women. She was a retired legal secretary, having worked for firms in Jersey 
City, N. J., New Orleans, Dallas and Slidell. Mrs. Irwin previously lived in 
Georgia,Tennessee Florida, Texas, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Interment will be at the family plot in Northview Cemetery, Cedartown, Ga., with 
graveside services. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to East St.

Church of Covington and the FBC Celebration Singers. She was also a volunteer at 
Mandeville Elementary School and Lake Harbor Middle School. She was named PTA 
District Grandparent of the Year in 1999.

On Friday , May 9 , 2008 the Rev. Ralph H. Kimball passed away in Covington. 
Father Ralph, as he was affectionately known to his myriad friends, was 93 years 
old. His loving wife, Dottie, of 62 years had predeceased him by a short six 
weeks on March 23, 2008.

Father Ralph had served his Lord since he was 16 years old when he was the 
organist/pianist at churches in his hometown of Manchester, NH. He went on to 
graduate from the University of New Hampshire and Bangor Theological Seminary, 
Bangor Maine.

Fr. Ralph was originally ordained as a minister in the Congregational Church and 
he served churches in Maine until he answered the call of his country to serve 
in WWII. He was commissioned into the Chaplain's Corps of the US Army Air Corps 
and served honorably in the China/Burma/India Theaters as well as in North 
Africa and Southern Europe. Upon leaving the service as a Major, he met the love 
of his life at the Army post in Greensboro, NC and he and Dottie were married 
six weeks after they met!

From Greensboro, they went to Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA. 
He was then ordained an Episcopal priest in 1946 in North Carolina where he 
served churches in several locations before accepting a call to Good Shepherd 
Episcopal Church in Columbia, SC. In 1956 he accepted a call to St. Andrew's 
Episcopal Church on Carrolton Ave. in New Orleans where he served for 25 years. 
In 1958 he oversaw the beginning of St. Andrew's Episcopal School which recently 
celebrated its 50th anniversary with Fr. Ralph in attendance. 

After "retiring" (a word that Fr. Ralph didn't really understand), he and Dottie 
moved to the Northshore in 1981 where he joined the staff of Christ Church, 
Covington. While at Christ Church, he did "supply" work at churches in Hammond, 
Ponchatoula and for 10 years at the Church of the Incarnation in Amite. Fr. 
Ralph was the epitome of a pastor to his flock and if anyone was sick or in any 
need he would visit them at home, in a hospital, nursing home or anywhere they 
were to bring comfort and counsel. He truly touched the lives of everyone he 
met.

Fr. Ralph is survived by his daughter, Priscilla King, of King George, VA and 
her husband Robert; two granddaughters, Emily King of Auckland, NZ and Charlotte 
Frame and her husband, Jason, of Mt. Solon, VA; and two great-grandchildren Noah 
and Madeleine Frame also of Mt. Solon.

Services will be held at Christ Church, 120 S. New Hampshire, Covington, LA 
70433 at 10:30 AM on Monday, May 12, 2008. Interment will follow services at 
Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to E.J. Fielding Funeral Home of

Madeleine Rushford Mahoney. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marcia 
Moynahan Mahoney; four children: Peggy Mahoney Santry (husband Steve), J.B. 
Mahoney, III (wife Marie), Patrick Mahoney (wife Kathleen), Erin Mahoney 
Berrigan (husband Patrick); and one sister, Mary Lynne Farrell of Monmouth

Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal.

Mildred Manchester went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 4, 
2008. 

Born in Greensburg, LA on July 18, 1935 to the late William D. and Mildred 
Sessions Souder, she was a retired Teacher's Aide at the SSD1 School at 
Greenwell Springs Hospital in Baton Rouge.

The beloved wife of T.J. Manchester for almost 55 years, she is survived by 
three daughters: Judy Manchester Wilson, Lora Manchester and Cathy M. DiMaggio 
(Sal); one son, Jeff Manchester (Sharon); one sister, Estelle S. Wicker of 
Clinton, LA; one brother, Walter Souder (Janie) of Tennessee; sister-in-law, 
Maudie Carey; her special friend, Elaine DiMaggio; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William, Jr. and 
Thomas Sessions Souder.

Sarah "Sally" Pelle McDonald passed away Friday, May 10, 2008 at the age of 83.

She was the cherished wife of the late Charles Edward McDonald, Jr.

Sally was born in Meridian, Mississippi, the oldest child of Wilbur Pelle of 
Ohio and Janie Meyer of Meridian, Mississippi. Sally was preceded in death by 
her parents, her brother Wilbur "Biggy" Pelle, Jr., and her daughter Suzanne 
McDonald Guillot.

She is survived by three daughters, Janie McDonald Allen of North Carolina, 
Sarah Nell Miquet of Slidell, and Dianne Lingl of Florida, along with eight 
grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Sally was an entrepreneur and owned a dress shop on Bourbon Street in the 
1970's. She was also an accountant for many years until she retired, but did not 
stop there. She volunteered tirelessly for the Lakeview Hospital in Mandeville 
where she will be sorely missed. She was a member of the Red Hat Society of 
North Carolina, and a proud member of the Republican Women's Club.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who 
treasured her family and lived life as if it were a grand adventure.

MERRITT, RIDGLEY BRYANT SR 

Ridgley Bryant Merritt Sr., a man of unwavering faith and devotion to Jesus 
Christ, died peacefully in his sleep on April 3, 2008, at his home in Baton 
Rouge.

His respect and gratitude for the gift of life empowered him to fight an eight-
month battle with leukemia until God called him home.

Ridgley was born Dec. 9, 1923, in New Orleans to Francis R. and Mildred T. Koepp 
Merritt. A veteran of World War II, he served his country with honor and courage 
as a pilot in the Air Force. After the war, he continued flying as a civilian 
instructor for the Air Force, being stationed at Graham Air Force Base in 
Marianna, Fla.

Ridge was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jean Koepp Merritt. His 
parents and his brother, Francis K. Merritt and spouse Eloise also preceded him 
in death.

He is survived by a sister, Mildred K. Love and husband Charles of Madisonville 
and four children, all from Baton Rouge.

His surviving children are Ridgley B. Merritt Jr. and wife Dorothy; Janet M. 
Padgett and husband Wayne; Patricia M. Hannaman and husband Robert; and Jesse L. 
Merritt and wife Gina. He is also survive by eight grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren.

His children and grandchildren are grateful for the strong heritage of faith and 
family passed down from their loving parents.

a United States Navy Veteran having served during World War II on the U.S.S. 
Formoe in the South Pacific. He graduated from Auburn University in 1949, moved 
to Metairie, LA in 1955, and then to Covington, LA in 1975. A major portion of 
his career was in corrosion engineering for major plants, pipelines and offshore 
oil facilities.

He graduated from Slidell High School in 1969 and was a 25-year employee of

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Anthony Ponceti Sr. and the late 
Milton Ponceti; mother of Sandra Ponceti Buelle, Christine Ponceti Brown and the 
late Joseph Anthony Ponceti Jr.; daughter of the late Baldo Matthew Albrecht and 
Mary Santa Lucia Albrecht; and sister of Baldo Albrecht Jr., Robert Albrecht, 
Florence A. Landry, Elizabeth A. Mullet, and the late Richard Albrecht.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Cheryl Simon, Joseph Ponceti III, 
Melissa Madere, Corey Brown, Peggy Buelle, David Buelle, Edward Buelle Jr. and 
the late Jason Brown, and 14 great-grandchildren.

A native of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell for the past 35 years, Mrs. 
Ponceti was a retired employee of Sears after 30 years and was also a member of 
the TOPS of Slidell and a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 
Parish in Slidell.

Jules Edward Reese, Jr. of Mandeville, LA, loving husband, father, and 
grandfather passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2008.

Age 72 years. He was born and raised in Mobile, AL where he graduated from 
Murphy High School. He earned an engineering degree from Auburn University in 
1957. Upon graduation he joined the Army Reserve. 

He married Elizabeth Moon in 1959, and was happily married for 47 years until 
her death in 2006. 

He worked in various engineering and management positions for US Steel 
Corporation. Upon earning his MBA at the University of Chicago in 1972, he 
started work for RLI in Peoria, IL, where he served as Treasurer and later 
Executive Vice-President. He finished his career serving in various executive 
positions throughout the insurance industry. 
He was an Eagle Scout as a youth, and later served as both Scoutmaster and 
Council Executive as an adult. 

He was raised an Episcopal, and later joined the Methodist Church. 

Throughout his life he moved several times; Chicago, Atlanta, Miami Beach, but 
his friends from Peoria, IL and the Forest Hills United Methodist Church always 
held a special place in his heart.

He is survived by his three children, Suzanne Reese-Mathis of Orlando, FL, Jules 
Reese, III of Miami, FL, and Andy Reese of New Orleans, LA, four granddaughters, 
and one brother, Randy Reese, of Mobile, AL.

River for the past 18 years. She had worked as an executive secretary in the 
legal/financial field.

Mrs. Samples was a member of Christian Church in Slidell.

She was active in the American Cancer Society as a marathon runner, Louisiana 
Chapter for Special Olympics, The American Stroke Foundation and secretary of 
Forest Ridge Homeowners Association.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, James E. Thomas and Lucille 
Thomas, George O. Parker and Rachael Parker Morrow and one niece, Krista Parker.

Survivors include her husband, Donald W. Samples of Pearl River; stepdaughters, 
Siobhan Samples of Van Nuys, Calif., and Audrey Laureen Carels of Covina, 
Calif.; grandchildren, Bradley Carels, Justin Carels and Sydney Carels, all of

Larry Oliver Singletary, a native of Pearl River and a resident of Six Ward,

Mr. Singletary was 68 years of age. He served in the United States Army for 16 
years and the Navy four years and was a member of Charter Oak Baptist Church in 
Six Ward.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Chiffone Chane Singletary of Six Ward; 
two nephews, Carl Singletary and Michael Singletary, both of Six Ward; and two 
nieces, Tammy Kozior of Philadelphia and Cheri Cebulski of Chicago.

He is preceded in death by one brother, Howard Bruce Singletary Jr.

A native of New Orleans, Lee was a resident of Slidell for the past 50 years. He

through the Local 58 Iron Workers Union.

A memorial service for Bessie Ann Pacholik Svebek will be held on May 25, 2008, 
at 2 p.m. at the Czech Community Center in Libuse. The Rev. Peter Faulk will 
officiate. Mrs. Svebek died at age 90 on March 6, 2008 in Covington.

"Boboo," as she was affectionately called by family members and friends, was 
born on Sept. 16, 1917, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Frank (Frantz) and Josephine 
Pacholik, who later were among the early Czech settlers in Central Louisiana. In 
Alexandria, she married Carl Svebek, a well known and respected Alexandria 
businessman, builder and proprietor of City Lumber Co.

Four children were born of the marriage, Carl Svebek Jr., Eugen Svebek, Mickey 
Creed, and Caroline Sessions.

Mrs. Svebek was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Carl Svebek 
Jr. She is survived by her son Eugen of Abita Springs and daughters, Mickey 
Creed of Libuse and Caroline Sessions of Houston. Also her best friend, Ms. 
Darlene Telgenhoff of Abita Springs, who brought such comfort, support and 
happiness to Bessie in her final years.

In addition, she leaves five grandchildren to cherish her memory. Boboo's 
grandchildren include Michelle McCollum of Nacogdoches, Texas; Carl Svebek of 
Siloam Springs, Ark.; Katherine Fontenot of Gulfport, Miss.; Christian Creed of 
Monroe; and Erik Creed of Greenville, S.C. Other survivors include 11 great 
grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

WADKINS, LLOYD E. 

Lloyd E. Wadkins of Slidell passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2008.

He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley Rayhorn Wadkins; mother of Anson 
E. Wadkins and Dian W. Pena; and brother of H.L. Wadkins and Gertrude Wadkins 
Barnett.

He is also survived by two grandchildren, Scott Nance and Lori Nance; four 
great-grandchildren, Rachell Champagne, Roxannne Nance, Victoria Lebo and Ethan 
Nance; and great-great-grandson, Brennon Stringer.

He was 86 years old, a native of Cherokee, Ala., and a resident of Slidell since 
1959.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), 
Slidell, today at 2 p.m. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.

Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Donald Marrero Walker passed away on Monday May 5, 2008.

Beloved father of Colin Walker and his wife Catherine Kim Walker, Elizabeth 
Caire Walker and the late Joseph Clifford Walker; brother to Robert E. Walker 
Jr., John C. Walker and the late Michael E. Walker. He was also preceded in 
death by his mother, Irene Marrero Walker and his father, Robert E. Walker Sr. 
Aged 61 years, a native of New Orleans, La. and a resident of Covington, La.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend memorial services and 
interment on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Christ Episcopal Church, 120 
South New Hampshire Street, Covington, La. 70433.

A reception will follow services at the Christ Episcopal Church Commons Room.

He supported many charities and was an avid lover of the arts.

Billy W. Weaver, Jr., a former State Policeman at the Slidell Weigh Station, 
passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2008.

Beloved husband of Theresa Chatto Weaver. Son of Mary Weaver and the late Billy 
W. Weaver, Sr. Brother of Gail W. Jourdan and husband William and Wanda W. Hand. 
Uncle of Zachary Jourdan. Nephew of Anne and Ruby Weaver, Benny L. and Dana 
Sanders.

Age 51 years. A native of Bogalusa, LA and a resident of Covington, LA for the 
past 47 years.

Diane Boren Wheelock, born in Memphis, Tennessee March 30, 1943, passed away 
peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2008.

She was the daughter of the late Lorene Griggs and Eldred Boren and beloved wife 
of Armando JosŽ (A.J.) Wheelock. 

She is survived by her sister Nell Box (wife of David Box) and four children, 
Carmen W. Dessauer (wife of Patrick Dessauer), Christine W. Sy (wife of Bernard 
Sy), Joseph A. Wheelock, and Alexander P. Wheelock (husband of Crissie 
Wheelock). She was a devoted grandmother to five grandchildren; Katherine and 
Ian Dessauer and Noah, Olivia and Benjamin Sy.

Diane Wheelock was organist/choir director at Our Lady of the Lake Church in 
Mandeville for over 27 years. In that capacity, she led choirs to sing twice at 
St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican; in Germany/Austria; Spain/Portugal, 
Ireland; and Poland/Czech Republic. She was also a member of National Pastoral 
Musicians, Organ Historical Society, Northlake Petroleum Wives, Red Hat Grits 
and was the recipient of the St. Louis Award for service to the Archdiocese of 
New Orleans.

Friends and family are invited to attend the wake services on Wednesday, May 
21st from 5:30-8 pm at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Ave, Covington, 
LA.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 316 Lafitte 
St, Mandeville at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 22, 2008.
