Rosemary was born December 7, 1938 in New Orleans to her parents, the late Nathaniel William Ricketts and the late Ethel Baldwin Ricketts. Rosemary is survived by her son, Eric William Anderson; his wife, Angela Green Anderson; granddaughters, Aeryn and Erica Anderson; a sister, Regina Ricketts Draper; her husband, Prahngar Vubrio Draper and a host of relatives and friends. Rosemary is a graduate of Joseph S. Clark Sr. High School and Dillard University. Rosemary taught for over 30 years in the Orleans Parish School System and the California School System. He owned and operated Bayou Ed's Charter Fishing Service for many years out of Delacroix Island. He thoroughly enjoyed sharing his passion and knowledge of fishing with his family, his many good friends and his charter clients. Russ was affectionately known for his good nature, his hard work and his caring and generous heart. He will always be remembered as a fun loving story teller who left you wondering truth or trick? His greatest enjoyment in life was simply to enjoy being with his family. He will be missed terribly, more than words can express, by all those who knew him and loved him. Gretchen was born on August 16, 1969 in New Orleans, LA to adoring parents, Dianne Bologna Picou Boland, and the late Lee J. Picou, Jr. The family moved to the Abita Springs and Covington area when Gretchen was 2 years old, so she always thought of the North Shore as her home. She is the beloved wife of David W. Clifton, and is survived by her life long best friend and brother, Brian Steven Picou, sister-in-law, Kimberly Decker Picou, nephew Vincent Lee, and niece Gretchen Angelle Picou. Gretchen felt very fortunate to still have her beloved maternal grandparents, Nana and Paw-Paw, Antonio and Anna Duclos Bologna living close by and she was very devoted to both and will be greatly missed by them. Gretchen was the granddaughter of the late Lee J. Picou, Sr and Catherine Selhofer Picou. Surviving also are her parents- in-law, Charles J. and Leatrice Dours Clifton, and a hosts of numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. A graduate of the class of 1987 from Covington High School, Gretchen went on to learn and earn her Medical Assisting career in Pediatrics, first being employed by Children's Medical Center and at the time of her illness and for the last thirteen happy years of her life with Fairway Pediatrics where she was loved and respected by physicians, coworkers, parents and patients alike. Daly Cunningham, a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on, Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at her residence surrounded by her family. Jane was in one of the first graduating classes of the Jersey City State College where she earned a BS in Nursing and a degree in teaching. She became a dedicated nurse and educator and was well respected and loved by students, parents, fellow teachers and administrators. She was most happy though when teaching nursing to the next generation of nurses and health care providers. She loved reading which she passed on to all her children and was an avid learner. Jane volunteered for many causes throughout her life including CASA where she received a special Court recognition for her quality and caring work. A beautiful, fun loving and unique woman, she touched the lives of so many in so many ways. She managed the Pink Panther Trailer Park and was an active band booster with Northshore High School. She is survived by her husband, Freddie Faciane; two sons, Freddie E. Faciane III and Cory Brandon Faciane; and two daughters, April Rusk and Lori Jeanette Faciane. She is also survived by two brothers, Chester B. and Lester R. She was born on December 11, 1928 in Colombia, South America to Fay Whaley and Chester A. Stewart. She was married to the late Adam J. Falkenstein and is survived by her sister Lois Stout, her four children Lynn Fresh, Barbara Gennusa, Bruce Falkenstein and Jeff Falkenstein, and 9 grandchildren. Shirley spent the early years of her marriage assisting her husband in the management of the A.J. Falkenstein Bakery on Cohn St. in New Orleans. After spending several years in Airline Park, Shirley and her family moved to Covington in 1959. She was well known in the community for various roles that she served. In the sixties, she was Parents' Club president for St. Peter's School and SSA, and owner and operator of the Auto-Lec store on Columbia St. In the seventies and early eighties she was known for her work as President of the Military Road Civic Association, for her presence at the Covington Community Center watching her boys play ball and for the Falkenstein's Bakery in Covington which she owned and operated from 1974 until 1984. After her retirement, she became known for her work with the hospital auxiliary at Highland Park Hospital and then with Lakeview Regional and the Surgery Center in Mandeville. She will be remembered as a strong woman with a devotion to her husband, her children and her community. A memorial service will be held at E.J. A native of Troy, N.Y., he was a longtime resident of Slidell. He was the first State Farm Insurance Agent in Slidell and retired after 35 years with the company. He was a Charter and Lifetime Member of the Slidell Kiwanis Club, where he served as Chapter President and Division Lt. Governor. He was an active parishioner and former Usher at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where he and Avis were married. He was the beloved husband of Mildred and father of Gary. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Rabe, and many nieces and nephews. Olaf was a native of Central City, Ky. At age 17, he entered the Civilian Conservation Corp. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Olaf was a soldier in the 241 Coast Artillery of the Harbor Defenses of Boston and later volunteered as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He received a Purple Heart during operations in Nijmegen, Holland, one of the "Bridge too Far" targets, in 1944. He was married to Mildred for 61 years. He retired after 37 years as a tool and die maker in Detroit. He was a resident of Slidell for the past seven years. A private memorial service was held. Waldrop was born Aug. 18, 1930, in Murray, Ky., and passed Aug. 3, 2008. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1948 then the U.S. Navy from 1948 to retirement in 1987 as a Command Master Chief. He was a Korean War veteran, serving as a corpsman with the U.S. Marines at the Chosen Reservoir and later with the 1st Force Recon in Viet Nam. In Korea he earned a Silver Star, four Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts. As a Navy reservist he served as an aide to Rear Adm. J.P. Connelly, commander in chief of Naval Command in Europe. During his career as a corpsman he attended Harvard Medical School to learn medical photography and filmed the first open heart surgery. Later as a civilian he was a medical photographer at University of Tennessee Dental College and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He graduated from Memphis State with a Bachelor of Science in education and Master of Education. He developed the curriculum for the Master of Education for Audio Visual Media Educational Technology as he was the first to graduate with this major. He was a pioneer in Audio Visual Media as a teaching tool. He was an athlete, including being a player on the All Navy Semi-pro baseball team, and he bowled, taught bowling to young people and to those who were to be bowling coaches. He was a member of the Chicasaw Council for the Boy Scouts of America. He served as a reserve deputy sheriff for St. Tammany Parish as a road captain and EMT instructor. He was married to Roberta East on Dec. 13, 1964. He is survived by his wife; son, Steven K Waldrop and wife Tracy of Asheville, N.C.; daughter, Lynn Nance and husband Gary of Bastrop, Texas; and son, Barry Waldrop and wife Darla of Slidell; 11 grandchildren nine great-grandchildren; brother, Charles D. Waldrop Jr.; sister, Evann Hernandez; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, "Bill" Waldrop, his father, Charles Waldrop, and his brother, Dale Waldrop. A visitation was Thursday at Vaughan's Funeral Home, Boerne, Texas, followed by the funeral service. There will also be a visitation at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will follow at the Forest Lawn Cemetery. He is survived by one son, Robert L. Wood (Cathy); two daughters, Barbara Wood Kellar and Gwendolyn Wood Gole (Anthony); and former wife, Dorothy Williams Wood. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Chris Wood (Parrish), Tony Gole, Lee Gole, Kaitlin Kellar and Kirstin Kellar; one great-granddaughter, Brennan Wood; one sister-in-law, Bettye O'Connor Wood; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wood was preceded in death by his parents, C. L. Wood and Elise Turner Wood as well as his siblings, Roberta Wood Turner (Hilliard), Cyril L. Wood (Delta Mae), Etty Nell Wood Brouillette (Alfred), and twin brother, John T. Wood. Nathan was a native and lifelong resident of Sun, having served 20 years as mayor of Sun. While mayor, he was instrumental in establishing the Sun Senior Center, Sun Festival and numerous community improvement projects. Nathan retired after 43 years with Gaylord Container Co. in Bogalusa as a millwright. Mr. Wood was a past president of the St. Tammany Municipal Association, member of Sun Lodge No. 336, former deacon of Sun First Baptist Church and present member of The Morgan Class at First Baptist Church Covington.
