He was born on July 11, 1939 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a lifelong resident of Mandeville and fourth generation restaurateur of Bechac's Restaurant "Since 1885" on the Lakefront in Mandeville. He served the residents of the City of Mandeville as a councilman from 1964 - 1976 and was a civic leader and charter member for many organizations, including the Pontchartrain Yacht Club, the Mandeville Jaycees, the Mandeville Lions Club and the Northlake-Mandeville Rotary Club. He attended Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School in Mandeville and graduated from St. Paul's School (1956) in Covington and Southeastern Louisiana University (1960) in Hammond. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Moise Bechac and Azelie Verrett Bechac of Mandeville, Louisiana. He is survived by his loving wife Margherita S. Bechac, sons Denis P. Bechac and his wife Rhonda and Andrew M. Bechac and his wife Margaret; daughter Gina B. Mabel was born in Randolph County, NC to Yancey Bray and Martha Emily Williamson Bray, both deceased. She grew up on the family farm as the 7th child of 8. During WWII she worked as a payroll clerk in a shipyard and married Joe T. Bridges who died in 1996. They lived in the New Orleans area for many years. Mabel was a great Mother, care provider to her siblings, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lived independently, kept a lovely home and beautiful garden. Mabel is survived by her children: Rebecca Perniciaro (husband Peter); Susan Greco (husband Nick); and David Bridges (wife Beverly); her grandchildren: Jennifer Perniciaro; John Perniciaro; Glen Greco; Lisa Greco Hughes; Christina Bridges Martinez and David Bridges, Jr. And her great grandchildren: Bailee Bridges; Catherine, Julia, and John Greco; Audrey and David Hughes. Gretchen was born Aug. 16, 1969, in New Orleans to her adoring parents, Dianne Bologna Picou Boland and the late Lee J. Picou Jr. Gretchen was also the stepdaughter of the late Terrence E. Boland. The family moved to the Abita Springs and Covington area when Gretchen was 2 years old, so she always thought of the Northshore as her home. She was the beloved wife of David W. Clifton and is survived by her lifelong best friend and brother, Brian Steven Picou; sister-in-law, Kimberly Decker Picou; nephew Vincent Lee; and niece, Gretchen Angelle Picou. Gretchen felt very fortunate to still have her beloved maternal grandparents, Nana and Paw-Paw, Antonio and Anna Duclos Bologna, living close by, and she was very devoted to both and will be greatly missed by them. Gretchen was the granddaughter of the late Lee J. Picou Sr. and Catherine Selhofer Picou. Also surviving her are parents-in-law, Charles J. and Leatrice Dours Clifton, and hosts of numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. A graduate of the class of 1987 from Covington High School, Gretchen went on to learn and earn her medical assisting career in pediatrics, first being employed by Children's Medical Center and at the time of her illness and for the last 13 happy years of her life with Fairway Pediatrics, where she was loved and respected by physicians, coworkers, parents and patients alike. He was born July 24, 1934 in Tylertown, MS to the late Willie D. and Linnie Causey Conerly and has been a resident of Madisonville for over 40 years. The beloved husband of Learmia Listach Conerly, he is survived by one son, Shaun R. Conerly (Kimberly); his daughter, Linnette Conerly Goodly (Pete); four grandchildren, Haley and Lauren Conerly, Ian and Christian Goodly and one sister, Evelyn C. Frelix. He was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Causey (Janice). Richard completed Central Memorial High School in Bogalusa in 1955. Therafter, he pursued his undergraduate studies at Grambling State University, graduating in 1962 with a degree in Physical Education. While at Grambling his extracurricular activities included drama, choir and playing football for the late Coach Eddie Robinson. On June 25, 1965, he married the love of his life, Learmia Listach. In 1973, Richard received his Master's Degree in Education from Southeastern Louisiana University. Finally, he completed an additional 30 credit hours to become certified in Physical Education, Special Education with emphasis on Mental Retardation, Drivers Education, Traffic Safety, Supervisor of Student Teaching and Principalship. Mr. Conerley's teaching career began at Mayfield High School in Homer, LA, followed by positions at Covington Rosenwald School, Pine View High, Covington Junior High and finally in 1978, Covington High School, were he taught and coached football and track until his retirement. Following retirement from teaching, he was a personal trainer at Franco's Athletic Club for over 10 years. He dedicated many years of service to the Special Olympics and was a member of the choir, usher and faithful parishioner at St. Anselm Catholic Church in Madisonville. Crosby, Jr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Christwood. He was born on October 5, 1920 in Picayune, MS to Robert Howell and Ethel May Crosby. He has been known by numerous titles though the course of his 88 years - patriot, husband, father, grandfather, entrepreneur and philanthropist are the most prominent. After completing over three years of service in the U. S. Army during World War II, Crosby made Louisiana his home. He and his wife, Elizabeth would become part of those returning veterans and their spouses known as "the greatest generation." Not only did he become a successful and highly regarded businessman, he endeavored to better his adopted state. A graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he settled in DeRidder, Louisiana in 1945 where he immediately opened Crosby Chemicals, Inc which has evolved into Crosby Land & Resources. As recently as 6 years ago he served as Chairman of the Board. Throughout his career, Crosby devoted time to various corporate boards, including Central Louisiana Electric Company, Whitney National Bank, Pan American Life Insurance Co., Ochsner Medical Foundation. He served as Chairman of the LSU Foundation and the Louisiana Forestry Association. He also served as Grand Master of the Masons of Louisiana, as a member the Boy Scouts of America National Council and as a member of the National Explorer Scouting Committee. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Richard and Thomas Crosby and 1 sister Mary McDuff. Pat was born in Ponca City, Okla. She was a Choctaw Native American Indian. She married the love of her life, George B. Goff Jr. in 1947. George and Pat started out in Oklahoma and then moved to Washington, D.C. for a few years before moving to various places while George worked for The Boeing Company, including Issaquah, Wash., Huntsville, Ala.; New Orleans and Merritt Island, Fla. They returned to Issaquah and retired in 1989. Pat worked as a nurse in all of these cities. She was an outstanding cook and loved to garden. Her sense of humor was contagious and kindness and humbleness defined her character. In their retirement years, Pat and George loved to take their boat the N-SANA-T up to Echo Bay, Canada and to Alaska. She was born Sept. 5, 1951, in Hammond to Max Eugene and Sara Thomas Campbell, both now deceased. After graduating from high school, Linda spent the next 11 1/2 years in the United States Air Force, giving her the opportunity to see much of the world. She was stationed in Colorado, California and New Mexico. She also had tours of duty in the Philippines and Turkey, at which point she was able to backpack across much of Western Europe and England. Upon leaving the Air Force, Linda was employed by John C. Stennis Space Center in Hancock County, Miss. She was the daughter of Hazel Sellers and Gordon Bennett McGregor of Wiggins, Miss. and Mobile, AL. Debra was born on April, 17, 1944, in Hattiesburg, Miss. She attended Mobile General Nursing School where she received her RN and Norfolk General Hospital in VA from which she attained the status of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Debra was Lieutenant in the Navy Nurse Corps and worked for 28 years at Slidell Memorial Hospital. McGregor is survived by three sons Dr. Victor Rucker, Richard Rucker, and Perry Clay Rucker Jr. She is also survived by two sisters, Mollie Barrott and Melissa Gillis. She was predeceased by her parents and one brother Gerald McGregor.
