ALLEN

Claudine "Tease" Allen was born to Mr. and Mrs. Abner Claude on Oct. 3, 1925. 
She died Nov. 5, 2008.

Tease was a lifelong resident of Slidell with a brief stay in New Orleans.

Tease was introduced to Christ by her parents at a very early age and attended 
Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Slidell in its former location on Brakefield Drive.

Although Tease did not attend church regularly, she was a prayer warrior who 
always prayed quietly and very deeply. Her faith was always in Jesus Christ.

Tease was married to Joe Allen for a brief period. No children were born to this 
union. Following the end of this union Tease met her faithful companion, Leroy 
Ducre, and remained in this loving relationship until his death. Tease and Leroy 
reared three of Leroy's children, Bryan, Peter and Valerie.

Tease was a sports fanatic, but it was not football or basketball. Baseball was 
her passion, and she knew all there was to know about the sport and the players.

She was our family's matriarch, our source of comfort, strength, courage, 
nurture and wisdom. One of Tease's favorite sayings was that we all were her 
children.

Tease worried about nothing, she lived her life by the Serinity Prayer: "God 
grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to 
change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference."

Visitation will be Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. with services at 1 p.m. at 
Hartzell Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 41040 U.S. Highway 190 E., Slidell. 
The Rev. Ernest E. Scott will officiate.

Kimberly Allison Miller Barnickel passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2008.

Wife of Michael Barnickel; a much beloved mother, she is survived by her three 
children Erica Larose and her husband A.J. Larose, Alan Wayne Moe, Jr. and Ryan 
Brandon Moe, and their father, Alan Wayne Moe, Sr.; two grandchildren Phillip 
and Sarah Larose; loving daughter of Bruce Logan Miller and Marilena Terrell 
Guth and her husband Paul; sister of Lee Miller, Layne Miller and Rebecca Paige 
Miller; and special aunt to Jennifer Kendrick, Elizabeth Miller, Meredith Miller 
and Heather Miller.

Age 50 years, a native of New Orleans, LA, she was a longtime resident of the 
New Orleans area. She worked with the American Cancer Society for many years.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services on 
Friday, November 28, 2008 at 1:00 PM from the chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral 
Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433.

Visitation on Friday will begin at 11:00 AM.

Frankie Clairessa Sylvest Blackwell passed away on Monday, November 24, 2008.

Beloved mother of Roy A. Sylvest, Sr. and wife Kristen, Tammy L. Dusang and 
husband Kyle and Tara D. Bufkin. Sister of Janet O'Keefe, Lottie Chin, Genevieve 
Abney and the late Teresa Mieners. Daughter of the late Frank C. Sylvest and 
Bertie Sylvest. Also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren.

Age 72 years. A native of Columbia, MS and a resident of Folsom, LA for the past 
5 years.

BONEE

Joseph William Bonee Sr., 63, passed away in New Orleans on Monday, Nov. 17, 2008.

He was an engineer in the electrical industry and was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Bonee is survived by five children, Joseph William Bonee Jr., Johnny Vann 
Bonee, Charles Bradley Bonee, Pamela Denise Null and Anita Lefay Hopkins, and 
their spouses, Melinda Bonee, Debbie Bonee, Teddy Null and Chris Hopkins. He is 
also survived by 16 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jarred, Shelby, 
Joseph IV, Zack, Trav and Charlie Bonee, Jenise Zack, Zayden and Jayden 
Robinson, Lexus and Mercedes Null, Jenna Nails and Johnathan, John Thomas and 
Laikin Hodum.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. today at the VFW in Pearl River.

Williams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Norman R. Bor passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2008. 

He was born June 13, 1927 in Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada to the late Peter and 
Dena Dornbush Borr and was a resident of Bush before moving to Covington.

He was the beloved husband of Marjorie Oalmann Kohnke Bor and is survived by two 
step-daughters, Barbara Lee and Constance Mahady. He is the brother of Dwain 
Borr and Delores Hess. Mr. 

Bor was a Seaman with 38 years of service to his country through the Coast 
Guard, Merchant Marines and he served in the Army during WW II.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 11:00 AM from the chapel at E.J. Fielding

Well known fishing guide, Joseph Berengher "Capt. Barry" Brechtel, Jr. passed 
away on Tuesday, November 25, 2008.

Beloved husband of Pam Bitterwolf Brechtel; loving father of Beren, Sophia and 
Bennet Brechtel; son of Drs. Berengher and Rebecca Underwood Brechtel; son-in-
law to Gordon and Sandra Bitterwolf; brother of Royceann B. Fugler and her 
husband Chad; brother-in-law to Mark Bitterwolf and his wife Anne and Lynn B. 
Ward and her husband Brent; and nephew of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Brechtel, III 
(Godfather)., Mr. and Mrs. Arthur A. Clarkson, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Carl Olson, Mr. 
And Mrs. Joe Krippel and Mrs. Charles Machecek, his Godmother. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John P. Brechtel, Jr. 
and Mr. and Mrs. Roy G. Underwood; and his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Louis 
Battistella.

Age 43 years, he was a native of Algiers, LA, he was a resident of Covington, LA 
for the past 10 years. He was a 1984 graduate of Jesuit High School and a 1989 
graduate of Loyola University. He was a financial consultant with Merill Lynch 
and Smith Barney for 18 years. He was the co-owner of Big Fish Charters and 
Breton Sound Marina. He was the Host of the "Louisiana Wildlife" program and the 
noontime Friday fishing report both on WDSU TV in New Orleans. He was a member 
of the Christian Golfers Association and the Coastal Conservation Association. 
He gave of his time and resources to the Kids Kicking Cancer Fishing Rodeo, 
Little Sisters of the Poor, New Orleans Mission, and Fishing For Hope.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to Celebrate the Mass of 
Christian Burial at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 West Causeway 
Approach, Mandeville, LA 70471 on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 12:00 Noon.

Rosalie F. Carlson died November 19, 2008. 

She was born May 17, 1915 in Council Bluffs, IA and lived in Omaha, NE and St. 
Louis, MO throughout her childhood. She moved to New Orleans, LA in 1938 where 
she met her husband Bertil G. Carlson. They married on September 8, 1939 in 
Waverly, TN. They soon moved to Abbeville, LA where she lived until 1998. 

Rosalie then moved to Covington, LA where she lived at Christwood Retirement 
Community until she passed on. Mrs. 

Carlson is preceded in death by her parents Paul S. Fleming and Chloe H. 
Fleming, her husband Bert, and her sister Ann Price. 

Rosalie is survived by her two children Lynda C. Ward (Dallas) of Folsom, LA and 
David B. Carlson (Marna Wellbrock) of New Iberia, LA; her four grandchildren 
Leslie Ward of Houston, TX; Mary Lee Doughton (E. Jones) of Columbus, GA; Amy 
Carlson of Baton Rouge, LA; and Timothy Carlson of Lafayette, LA; and one great 
grandchild Bennett Doughton of Columbus, GA.

Rosalie was an accomplished seamstress and gardener, and an avid reader. She was 
active in Abbeville area civic organizations for many years. Mrs. Carlson was a 
long time member of the Abbeville United Methodist Church where she was a member 
of the choir.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
on Saturday November 29 at 10:30 AM at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 
21st Ave. Covington, LA 77043.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home starting at 9:30 AM until the 
service.

Graveside services will be held at the Graceland Cemetery in Abbeville, LA on 
Saturday December 6, 2008 at 11 AM.

Augusta Elizabeth Michon Caruso passed away on Monday, November 3, 2008.

Beloved wife of the late Andrew Nicholas Caruso. Sister of Virginia DiSalvo, 
Joseph Michon, John P. Michon, Jr. and the late Morris Michon. Aunt of Alma Jean 
Manton and spouse Norman, Sr. Great-aunt of Norman Jay Manton, Jr., Nicholas Lee 
Manton, Nathan Joseph Manton, Naomi Lynn Manton and fiancˇe Jason McCullugh and 
Nolan John Manton. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and 
great-nephews.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and New Life Lutheran Church 
of Folsom.

Age 86 years. A native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Folsom, LA.

CULVER

On Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, Daniel Jeffery Culver, 27, of Slidell passed away.

He is survived by his parents, Ralph and Laura Culver and Becky Brupbacher, and 
his grandparents, Jack and Jackie Brupbacher and Geraldine Culver.

He is also survived by his sister, Celima Bullock (Dwayne); stepbrother, Karl 
Davis; stepsister, Mandy Davis; and nieces and nephews, Cameron, Tessa and 
Jasmine Bullock.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Merlin Culver Sr.

Visitation was held Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 
67525 Highway 41, Pearl River.

Funeral services were held Thursday at 8 p.m. 
Interment will be at a later date.

Anna Bourgeois Davi passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the age of 
93.

She was the daughter of Alcede Dugas and Francois Bourgeois. She was preceded in 
death by her husband Joseph J. Davi, her brothers Ivy, Claude and Dennis 
Bourgeois. She is survived by her loving daughter Jo Ann Davi Creech, her sister 
Grace LeBlanc, four beloved grandchildren, Kristen Creech Punch, Steven Davi 
Creech, Elizabeth Creech Brakel and Erin Creech Hassinger and five adored great-
grandchildren.

Mrs. Davi was an active volunteer at St. Louis Cathedral Church and School. She 
was awarded the Order of St. Louis Medal - Senior Citizen Archdiocese of New 
Orleans, elected president of the St. Louis Cathedral Mother's Club and served 
the parish as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a graduate of Scared Heart School 
and a lifelong resident of the French Quarter in New Orleans.

Monday, December 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM at St. Louis Cathedral, 615 Pere Antoine

Mildred Mary Babin Davis passed away on Monday, November 17, 2008.

Beloved wife of the late Robert E. Davis. Mother of Dolores Johnson, Barbara

She was the former owner of Bob's Country Store in Mandeville. A member of Our 
Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and a former member of the choir.

Age 84 years. A native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Mandeville, LA for 
the past 53 years.

Clayton "Gene" DeFries, 80, passed away November 16, 2008 at his home. 

Gene was a resident of the area since 1982 after moving here from San Francisco, 
California. He enjoyed farming and was a member of the Masonic Lodge at the Park 
Place Lodge of Houston, Texas and was the past President of Marine Engineer 
Beneficial Association.

Gene is survived by his wife, Shirley DeFries of Panama City; 2 daughters, Anne 
DeFries-Holeman of Fallschurch, VA and Jean Phyllis DeFries of Tampa, FL; 1 
brother, Leroy DeFries of WA; and 2 grandchildren, Robert Holeman and Ashleigh 
Holeman.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 12:00 Noon in the 
Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. William Bell officiating.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 18th at the 
Funeral Home.

Graveside Services will be held Saturday, November 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at 
Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Covington, Louisiana.

EDWARDS, BARBARA KENNY

Barbara Kenny Edwards died on Tuesday, November 18, 2008. 

She was born in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of the late James C. and Marie 
Shannon Kenny. After high school graduation, she attended the Wheeling Hospital 
School of Nursing in Wheeling, West Virginia. She then joined the Army Nurse 
Corp and spent three years in England as a First Lieutenant during World War II. 
Following Army service, she moved to Madisonville, LA where she worked for the 
St. Tammany Parish Health Department.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. Edwards, December 7, 2002. 

Surviving are her brother, James (Eleanor) Kenny, a niece Barbara Kenny 
Chenoweth, two nephews, Tim (Marge) Kenny and Tom (Debbie) Kenny, all of Cadiz, 
Ohio; and seven great nieces and nephews four great-great nieces and nephews. 
Also surviving are two step-sons, Henry and Marc (Heidi) Edwards and two step-
grandchildren, Callie and Kyle Edwards of Florida.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian 
Burial on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 11:00 AM at St. Anselm's Catholic 
Church, 307 St. Mary Street, Madisonville, LA 70447.

A wake will be on Friday, November 21, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at E.J.

Warren G. (Sam) Fandal, Sr. passed away at his residence on Saturday, November 
8, 2008 at the age of 86.

Beloved husband of Ruth W. Fandal. Father of Warren G. Fandal, Jr. and Alicia 
Marie Fandal, Van Williamson and the late Ryan James (Jimmy) Fandal. Son of the 
late Joseph W. and Augusta Matherne Fandal. Brother of Nora F. Hauptman, Joyce 
F. Veulman and the late Joseph Fandal, Manuel Fandal, Julius Fandal, Fred 
"Freddy" Fandal, Roy "Cotton" Fandal, Wilmer "Bill" Fandal, Carl Fandal, 
Josephine F. McCoy, Alva Fandal, Terese F. Cannon, Agnes Fandal, Olivia "Toot" 
F. Vicknair, Eula F. Palmer, Marian F. Wascom and Inez F. Davis. Also survived 
by 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Fandal was U.S. Army veteran of World War II, retired from Canal Barge Line 
and a parishioner of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church.

There will be no services.

Robert Anthony Frosch, Sr. passed away on Friday, November 28, 2008.

Heather Truett; step-daughter, Shannon Biggs; sister, Sherry LaDoux; and eight

Age 65 years, he was a native of Madisonville, LA and a resident of Mandeville,

GASKILL

Charles William Gaskill died Saturday November 8, 2008 in his home in Slidell of 
natural causes. 

Charles was born in West Lafayette, OH on May 9, 1938. He was 70 years old. 

He graduated in 1956 from Wickliffe High School in Wickliffe, OH. 

He served as an engineer in the US Army, and was honorably discharged at the end 
of his term. He retired from Bell South Phone Company. He was a longtime member 
and former board member of the Northshore Bowling Association. 

He is survived by his three sons Donald Gaskill, James Gaskill, and Scott 
Gaskill, and two grandchildren Jacob Gaskill, and Logan Gaskill. 

The memorial service for our beloved father will be held at the home of Donald & 
Sheila Gaskill at 1742 Fourth St., Slidell on Saturday November 22, 2008 from 
1:00-3:00 p.m..

William "Bill" Mayfield, David Mayfield and Ginger Mayfield. Son of the late 
Agnes Porowski and Joseph Gorgas. Grandfather of Semmes Blankenship, Bobby 
Blankenship, Kelly Helm, Mark Melancon, Keri Mayfield, Kara Travers and Kasey 
Mayfield and the late Scott Blankenship. Great-grandfather of seventeen. Brother 
of Rita Porowski and the late Maryann Jerzak.

He was an active member and 3rd Vice-command of the American Legion, Chaplain of 
the Covington VFW Post and a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Benedict 
Catholic Church.

Victims Reparations Board for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Innerarity.

JENKINS

On Nov. 17, 2008, Carl Edward Jenkins Sr., 53, of Slidell, accepted his call to 
his journey home. Funeral services were held Saturday at Rosa Sharon Church of 
God in Christ in Picayune, Miss.

Interment was in the Picayune Cemetery under the direction of Brown's Funeral 
Home.

Carl was born April 30, 1955, to the late Lattimore Greely Sr. and Louise Jean 
Jenkins.

He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward Van and Mary Louise 
Huderson; two brothers, Lattimore Greely Jr. and Bobby Ray Greely Sr., all of 
Picayune.

He attended George Washington Carver High. He worked in construction as a brick 
mason and was a salesman at various car dealerships. He was united in holy 
matrimony with Glory Jean Jenkins, and to this union five children were born.

He leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Carl Lamont Jenkins, Kevin Dewayne 
Jenkins and Jerome Jordan; two daughters, Letisaha Shunta Jenkins and Latonya 
Nicole Bridges; five sisters, Janed McCallister, Patricia Brown, Secundra Ducre, 
Mary Vick and Lotlise Beard; godmother, Ruby Jean Tyner Walker; Ella Lewis 
"Shelia" of Slidell of 20 years; 11 grandchildren, Keyontae Jenkins, Yamajah 
Curry, Caridius Kelly, Christopher Cowart, Keviona Jenkins, Kelsey Causey,

John David Warner; sister, Francis Morse; and stepsister, Alice Morse.

John Clifford Logsdon, 75, of Slidell, died Thurday, Nov. 6, 2008, at Northshore 
Regional Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Edna Fox Logsdon; father of Steven C. Logsdon, Lee 
Frances Harrington, Joanne Leslie Manuel (Eddie) and Suzanne Laurie Wilson 
(Dave); and brother of Gaevon Cossairt. He is also survived by nine 
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A native of Ada, Okla., and a longtime resident of Slidell.

Mr. Logsdon served in the U.S. Air Force in England as an airplane mechanic 
during the Korean War. He was the fomer owner of Logsdon Air Conditioning in 
Slidell.

Private graveside services and interment were in Biloxi National Cemetery.

Millard Emile Matthew, Sr., retired social agency operations director and former 
realtor and owner of a local real estate company, died Tuesday, November 18, 
2008, in Denham Springs, Louisiana, at the age of 86. Born in New Orleans on 
February 9, 1922, to Elizabeth Nicolay Matthew and John Emile Matthew, he was a 
resident of Metairie for 55 years and of Covington the past 31 years.

Beloved husband of the late Miriam Bogel Matthew, he is survived by five 
children, Suzanne L. Matthew, Millard E. Matthew, Jr., Peggy M. Good, Patricia 
M. Boatman and John E. Matthew, II., and eight grandchildren, Joshua Neil 
Matthew, Benjamin Bradley Matthew, Maxwell Alexander Good, Winston Oliver Good, 
Janet Lois Boatman, John Ewing Boatman, Jr., Amanda Lynne Matthew and Emily Anne 
Matthew. Brother of the late John J. Matthew and Frederick C. Matthew, he is 
survived by his sister, June M. Evans.

Mr. Matthew attended Beauregard Junior High and Warren Easton High in New 
Orleans, and graduated from Tulane University in 1946 with a degree in Political 
Science, being his family's first college graduate. He was in the Navy ROTC at 
Tulane and went through Navy Flight training in Pensacola, Florida. He worked in 
his father's paint business before becoming a realtor and starting a real estate 
business. He was owner of Metairie Realty Inc. 

He was later Executive Director of the Jefferson Parish Housing Authority and 
then Director for Kidney Foundation of Louisiana. His life's work culminated 
when he became Director of Operations for the Jefferson Community Action 
Program, a social agency that included at the time such programs as Head Start 
and Meals on Wheels, where he worked for 15 years, retiring in 1992. 

After retirement, he volunteered to help run the St. Tammany District 12 Fire 
Department for several years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of 
Covington, and of Metairie Lodge No. 444 F & AM.

Beloved mother of Donna S. Goode; step-mother of Jerry Thomas Schivers; 
grandmother of Anthony Badalamenti, Diane "Ticka" Dowdy, Glenn Dowdy, Jr., 
DeNeal Tolbert and her husband Michael, Faith Tara Goode, Jerrall Schivers and 
Samantha Schivers. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren and 6 great 
great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Schivers; her father, Lt. 
Col. Joseph Lloyd Vidrine; her mother, Bessie Wallace Vidrine; daughters, 
Paulette S. Jarreau and Gwendolyn Diane Dowdy; son, Richard Barlett; and a 
brother Danford Thornhill.

Age 88 years, a native of Tangipahoa Parish, LA, she was a resident of Belle 
Chasse, LA most of her life.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services on 
Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Mandeville, 
1895 Hwy 190, Mandeville, LA 70448.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, AT THE CHURCH, beginning at 9:00 A.M.

Miriam Catherine Appel Schmidt was received into the loving arms of her Savior 
Jesus Christ on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the age of 88.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Veronica Appel and her 
beloved husband of 40 years, the late Christian Peter Schmidt.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Terye 
Thompson and Chris Sellers; their husbands, Lynn Thompson and Chuck Sellers; her 
grandchildren, Jeffrey Lynn Thompson and Christy Ann Sellers; her great-
grandson, Ty Lynn Rivera; her nieces, nephews and countless other relatives and 
friends.

Miriam graduated from the Academy of the Holy Angels in 1938. She was a native 
of New Orleans and a resident of Mandeville for the past 11 years. She resided 
at Rouquette Lodge where she made many friends and spent many hours 
volunteering. She was very devoted to her family and her Catholic faith.

Relatives, friends of the family and her friends at Rouquette Lodge are invited 
to join in the celebration of her life at a Funeral Mass on Friday, November 7, 
2008 at 11:00 AM from Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 W. Causeway 
Approach, Mandeville, LA with visitation at church on Friday beginning at 10:00 
AM. Interment will follow in St. Vincent de Paul Mausoleum.

Mary Louise Lagarde Selzer passed away on Sunday, November 2nd. 

Mary was born in Morgan City, Louisiana on December 23, 1918, and was the 
youngest daughter of Charles Lagarde and Louise Kessel Lagarde. She had four 
brothers and three sisters.

Mary wed Jackson Xavier Selzer on Valentine's Day in 1941, and was his loving 
wife for 58 years. She was the loving mother of two children, Jack Xavier Selzer 
Jr, and Louise Catherine Selzer Randall. 

Mary loved to be surrounded by family, and had many beloved nieces and nephews. 
She enjoyed spending her day tending to her flowers, plants, and birds. In 
recent years Mary shared joy and companionship with her friends and extended 
family at Forest Manor.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sisters, husband, and 
children. 

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Nell Selzer; grandchildren: Jason and 
Angela Selzer, William and Gonca Randall, Wayne Randall, Amy and Marcos Garza, 
Sarah Randall; great grandchildren: Andrew Selzer, Caroline Selzer, and Erin 
Randall.

Memorial services will take place at 11:30 am, Saturday, November 8th at 
Covington Presbyterian Church.

Interment will be private at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington.

SEYMOUR

Peggy Raye McLaurin Seymour, 51, passed away Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at Cypress 
Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital in Houston. 

Peggy had fought a difficult battle for her health the last four years.

Born in Shreveport on Dec. 18, 1956, she spent her early years in Pineville and 
graduated from Salmen High School in Slidell. Peggy moved to Houston in 1978.

She was preceded in death by her brother David; grandparents Ruby and Darrell 
Delahoussaye, and Thelma and Algie McLaurin; and her aunts Bennie Lee Austin, 
Mary Ruth Barton and Dona Glass.

To cherish her memory she leaves her husband Gary; daughters, Wende Raye Kinney 
and Laurin Nicole Kinney; her beloved grandchildren Mikayla, Drak, and Zoey of 
Houston; parents Ray and Gerry McLaurin of Alexandria; sisters Cindy and husband 
Roy Burr Jr. of Pineville and Kelley and husband Scott Meyer of Grand Junction, 
Colo.; mother- and father-in-law Joy and Walter Seymour of Slidell; sister-in-
law Darlene Rudiger of Slidell; and stepsons James Duffy Seymour of Baton Rouge 
and Thomas Fletcher Seymour of Harrodsburg, Ky. All of her nieces, nephews, 
aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family were dear to her heart.

Peggy was a member of the National Association of Lease and Title Analysts in 
the oil and gas industry.

She worked for and retired from Union Texas Petroleum Company in Houston. With 
her independent spirit, upbeat personality and strong work ethic she made many 
long-lasting friendships.

Peggy will be remembered for her love of her grandchildren, gardening, 
needlework, sewing and travel. She was fortunate to have traveled worldwide. She 
visited Hawaii, Alaska, Norway, Denmark, England, France, Austria, Netherlands, 
Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. She and Gary also traveled to many cities in 
the United States and Europe. Mementos filled her home with reminders of family 
and places traveled.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Lake Lawn 
Metairie Funeral Home Chapel, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., at 11:00 a.m., on 
Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008. 
Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery. 
A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 9 a.m.

Emma Amelia Sharpe passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2008. She was born 
April 20, 1920 to the late Alonzo and Lettie Holliday Sharpe and was a life 
resident of Folsom.

She is the beloved mother of Alice Pierre, Dan, Eugene and Dale Sharpe, Linda 
and Glenn Jarrell, Lorraine Thompson, Debbie Smith and the late Buddy and Royce 
Sharpe. She is survived by one sister, 29 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, 
7 great-great grandchildren and was preceded in death by 4 brothers.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel at E.J. Fielding

STEVENS

On Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, Billy N. Stevens passed away at the age of 67 
years.

He was a longtime resident of Pearl River and was a retired gunnery sergeant 
with the United States Marine Corps. He was also retired from the U.S. Postal 
Service.

Stevens is survived by five children, Tommy Allen Stevens, Greg Stevens, Terry 
Stevens and his wife, Wendy, Sherry Stevens and Jill Stevens Martin and her 
husband, Kenny; two siblings, Denny Stevens and Pat, and a halfsister, Carol 
Thompson. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Kendall, Jacob, Tyler, 
Chris and Jennifer, and a nephew, Chris Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Stevens; a brother, Butch Stevens; 
and two grandchildren, Justin Martin and Travis Rist.

Memorial services, with military honors, will be held Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at 
the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Miss., at 1:30 p.m.

Prentiss Talley Jr., 65, of Franklinton passed away Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008.

He was a pipefitter with the Local 198, commander of the VFW Post 7196, member 
of the Masonic Lodge 456, a Shriner and a member of Eastern Star.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Talley; three sons, Michael Wayne Talley Sr., 
Scott Gregory Talley and Richard Eugene Talley; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Prentiss and Joyce Talley Sr., and one 
son, Martin Edgar Talley Sr.

Funeral services were Wednesday at Williams Funeral Home, Pearl River. 
Interment followed in Charter Oak Cemetery. Bro. Roger Miller officiated.

Charles E. Tynes, a native of Bogalusa and resident of Franklinton, passed away 
Nov. 16,2008, at the Louisiana Heart Hospital in Lacombe at the age of 54.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Rogers Tynes, and a daughter, Sarah Tynes of 
Franklinton; uncle, Howard W. (Brenda) Bynum of Bogalusa; two aunts, Mrs. 
Freddie Assen of Bogalusa and MRs. Bonnie Stupka of Mandeville; mother-in-law, 
Juanita Rogers of Covington; three sisters-in-law, Cathie Bass of Abita Springs, 
Kimberly Smith of Covington and Tina Rogers of Bush; and two brothers-in-law, 
Michael Rogers and Terry Rogers, both of Franklinton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Darris Tynes, and a brother-
in-law, Gary W. Rogers.

Memorial visitation will be held Thursday from 6-9 p.m. with a religious 
memorial service at 7 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Henri Ferrer. 
A private graveside service will be conducted at a later date.

Charles was a graduate of Bogalusa High School, Class of 1972. Charles also 
worked in law enforcement with both the Abita Springs and Mandeville police 
departments until his retirement.

Charles "Chuck" Gerard Trapani, Sr., died on November 11, 2008, at 66 years of 
age.

He was the beloved son of Mr. & Mrs. August G. Trapani, Jr.

A native of Covington, Louisiana and longtime resident of St. Tammany Parish, 
Chuck is survived by his son, Charles Gerard Trapani, Jr. and his wife Allison 
of Baldwin, Wisconsin; daughter Debbie Lane and husband Jay of Perkinston, 
Mississippi; daughter Beth McShan and husband Wayne of Slidell, Louisiana; and 
two grandchildren, Oliver and Amy Lane. He is also survived by his sisters Judy 
Hummel and husband Ki of Covington; Joan Ibos and husband Emile of Covington; 
Theresa Jolissaint and husband Mark of Mandeville; Melissa Porretto and husband 
Lloyd of Folsom; Angela Luksch and husband Chris of Fort Mill, South Carolina; 
and a brother Tim Trapani of Covington. 

He was preceded in death by his brother Chris Trapani. Chuck is also survived by 
his dear friend Dottie Smallwood of Mandeville and many nieces and nephews.

Chuck attended St. Peter School in Covington and was a 1960 graduate of Saint 
Paul's School. He was a proud and honorable veteran of the United States Navy. 
He graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was a 
highly skilled aircraft mechanic for many years. Chuck enjoyed numerous hobbies 
and spending time with family and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at St. Peter Catholic Church 128 W. 19th Ave. 
Covington, LA 70433 at 11:00 AM. Visitation at the church from 9:30 AM until

Age 75 years. A graduate of Rugby Academy High School and attended Tulane 
University. A veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. A native of New

WESSING

Joseph C. Wessing Jr., of Slidell, 64, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at his 
residence.

He was the beloved husband of Suzanne Doole Wessing for 41 years.

He was the father of Lisa W. Hemond (Scott and stepmom of Haliegh Hemond) and 
Joseph C. Wessing III (Jessica and stepfather of Gavin Jenkins); son of the late 
Joseph C. Wessing Sr. and Hazel Patterson Wessing; and brother of Judith W. 
Haber (Ken) and Joell W. Giler (John).

He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

A native of New Orleans, longtime past resident of Chalmette and resident of 
Slidell for three years, Mr. Wessing was self employed and the owner/operater of 
Wessing Refrigeration from 1970 until he retired in 2005 due to Hurricane 
Katrina. He also was a veteran of the U. S. Navy.

Memorial services were held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. W. (in 
Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell.

WILKIN

Elsie Ann Wilkin, 81, of Slidell, passed away at home on Saturday afternoon Nov. 
8, 2008, from cancer. 

She was a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother, aunt and 
friend.

Elsie Ann was born March 21, 1927 in Grand Forks, N.D., to William Joseph "Joe" 
and Mabel (Brenden) Brown and enjoyed her many summers spent with family at 
their cottage at Maple Lake in Minnesota.

She graduated early from Grand Forks Central High School and graduated from the 
University of North Dakota in 1948 with a bachelor's degree in Journalism, and 
she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority and Theta Sigma Phi journalism 
society.

After working at several newspapers in North Dakota and South Dakota, her Theta 
Sigma Phi contacts resulted in a job as a researcher for Time Magazine in New 
York City.

In October 1958 she met Charles Robert "Bob" Wilkin of Brinkley, Ark. (son of 
Charley and Dorothy Wilkin), and on Feb 13, 1960, they were married in New York. 
After a brief honeymoon in Lake Placid and Montreal, the newlyweds were off to 
Middletown, Conn., and later lived in Texas City, Texas, Dallas, Fort Smith, 
Ark., and Arkadelphia, Ark., before settling in Slidell in 1977.

Elsie Ann was retired from the Folgers Coffee Co. in New Orleans and a 
homemaker. An avid genealogist, Elsie Ann also enjoyed reading, traveling, 
cooking and spending time with her 12 grandchildren. She was a member of the 
Daughters of the American Revolution, Philanthropic Education Organization, St. 
Tammany Genealogical Society, Colonial Dames, and a member of St. Barnabas 
Anglican Church in Picayune, Miss.

Elsie Ann was preceded in death by her parents, brother Frank A. Brown and 
sister-in-law Mary Ellen Brown. 

She is survived by her husband of 48 years (and beau of 50), Bob, and their four 
children: Eric Wilkin and wife Kelli of Panama City, Fla., Kari Wilkin Spencer 
and husband John of Slidell, Rolf Wilkin and wife Ceri of Fayetteville, Ark., 
and Kurt Wilkin and wife Carrie of Austin, Texas; her sister, Barbara Modisett 
and husband John of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren: Evan, Andrew, Daniel, Matthew, 
Stephen and Mary Spencer of Slidell; Joe, Elise and Max Wilkin of Fayetteville, 
Ark.; and Luke, Brady and Bennett Wilkin of Austin, Texas.

Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at 2 p.m. at St. Barnabas 
Angelican Church at 201 Norwood St. in Picayune. Visitation will be held 
Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008 from 6-9 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home in Picayune. 
Interment will be at a later date at the Fayetteville National Cemetery in 
Fayetteville, Ark.
