Claire Akkawi passed away on Friday, December 12, 2008 at the age of 81.

Wife of the late Bandali. Mother of Khader, Amal, Salim, Sana and Joseph. 
Daughter of the late Said and Emeli. Sister of Sofie and the late Marika and 
Naheel. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Monday,

David E. Beck passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2008.

Beloved husband of Angela Ciaccio Beck. Son of Noel Petitbon Beck and the late 
Chuck Beck. Brother of Denise Seal (Rocky), Lynne Paulina (Curtis) and Edward 
Beck (Lisa). Also survived by his mother-in-law Anna Mae Ciaccio, sister-in-law 
Linda Fredrick, brother-in-law Shawn Ciaccio and several nieces and nephews.

An employee of Rouses Supermarkets on the Northshore.

Age 49 years. A native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Covington, LA for 
the past 12 years.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
on Wednesday, January 7, 2008 at 6:00 PM from E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc.,

Dorothy Bernard Bishop passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday, December 
1, 2008.

Beloved sister of Ernest Bernard, Jr.; and aunt to Barbara B. Campbell, Cary J. 
Bock and Alan B. Bock. She was also survived by several great-nieces and great-
nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernetta Schneider Bernard; 
her father, Ernest A. Bernard, Sr.; and two sisters, Hazel B. Bock and Marion B. 
Cameron.

Age 90 years, she was a native of New Orleans, LA, a resident of Mandeville, LA 
and a former resident of New Orleans, LA for most of her life.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian 
Burial on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 12:00 Noon at the Chapel at E.J. 
Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433.

Visitation on Wednesday will begin at 10:00 AM.

BUCKLEY, WILLIAM PETER, JR.
(February 29, 1920 - December 20, 2008)

William P. Buckley, Jr., age 88, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2008. Mr. 
Buckley was born February 29, 1920 in New Orleans, LA to Johanna and William P. 
Buckley, Sr.

He was a WWII veteran and served with the 2nd Infantry.

Preceded in death by his wife, Alice Dubourg Buckley, parents, brothers Wilmer 
and Bernard Buckley. Survived by his sister, Mary Buhler, step-daughters, Ruth 
Renz and Cathy Barrett. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his 
friend, Stephanie Rester.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass on 
Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 28088 
Main St., Lacombe, LA 70445. Visitation, AT THE CHURCH, on Tuesday from 9:00 AM

Verna Lusk Buell, a retired United Methodist Church Pastor, passed away Monday, 
December 9, 2008.

She was born June 30, 1923 in Douglas, Arizona to the late Harry W. and Janet 
Sine Lusk and has been a resident of St. Tammany Parish for 30 years. 

The beloved mother of Thomas Buell and wife Dawnell, Duncan A. Buell and wife 
Mary Ann, and Connie B. Hinton, she is survived by three grandchildren: Holly A. 
Hinton, Scott C. Hinton, and Kasey Buell; and three step-grandchildren: Elise 
Argueta, Tammy Stiebing, and Tiffany Wall; and her sister, Jean Lusk.

Verna graduated from the University of Arizona in 1944 with a Bachelor of Arts 
Degree in music education. From 1944-46, she worked at the Chautauqua 
Institution in New York, studied at the Julliard School of Music, appeared in 
early live television shows, and worked at Papermill Playhouse, New Jersey, 
performing in numerous musicals. 

In the 1950s she was a well-known church soloist at Christ Church, Cranbrook and 
St. John's Episcopal Church in the Detroit area. She formed the first choir at 
Christ Episcopal Church in Covington, LA in 1962 and served as choir director 
there until 1974. 

In 1979 she graduated from Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado, with a 
Master's of Divinity and in that same year, became Pastor of the United 
Methodist Church in Hemingford, NE. From 1981-1983 she led churches in Palmer, 
Wolbach, and St. Paul, NE and in Beaver City, NE from 1983-89, finally retiring 
in 1990. In retirement, she also pastored Lee's Landing United Methodist Church 
in Ponchatoula, LA from 1992-98 and was active in the Mandeville Ministerial 
Association.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend memorial services 
Monday, December 15, 2008 at 11:00 AM from St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 
335 Asbury Dr., Mandeville, LA 70448.

Visiting hours will begin at the church at 9:00 AM.

Brian Joseph Buendia passed away on Friday, December 5, 2008.

Beloved brother of Donald Joseph Buendia and spouse Margaret Meraux Buendia and 
the late Joseph Patrick Buendia. Son of the late Joseph and Catherine Andersen 
Buendia. Also survived by cousins.

Age 53 years. A native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Covington, LA for 
the past 4 years.

Relatives, co-worker and friends of the family are invited to attend the 
memorial mass on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 11:00 AM from E.J. Fielding

CACCARD, JOHN A. 
(July 9, 1924 - December 14, 2008)

John A. "Jack" Caccard passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008. He was born 
July 9, 1924 in Buffalo, NY to the late Albert and Mary Rothang Caccard and was 
a resident of Covington, LA since 1979.

The beloved husband of the late Jean Brown Caccard, he is survived by three 
daughters: Michele, Laurie and Tracey; four grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren.

Memorial services were celebrated privately by the family.

Virdies Ferrell Cason of Slidell passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008.

She is survived by one daughter, Beverly Miserendino of Jacksonville, Fla.; 
three sons, Tim and Talmage Galatas of Slidell and Garland Galatas of Anaheim 
Hills, Calif.; four grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husbands Harry Galatas and Carl Cason.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 
Slidell.

D.T. Williams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

(October 10, 1917 - December 22, 2008)

Hugh Lucas Collins passed away on Monday, December 22, 2008. 

He was born October 10, 1917 in Ouachita Parish to the late Charles and Benona 
Miller Collins. He lived many years in Shreveport, LA as a member of the Sheet 
metal workers Local Union 361 and has been a resident of Covington since 1989.

The beloved husband of the late Margaret Morrison Collins, he is survived by 
three sons, Hugh M., Charles L. (Sue) and John R. Collins (Susan); five 
grandchildren: Charles H. Collins, Bryan Ashley Collins (Silvana), Elizabeth A. 
Stevenson (Scott), John R. Collins, Jr. and Sarah S. McDevitt; nine great-
grandchildren and his sister, June Cox. 

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Joseph E. Collins; his daughter-in-
law, Brenda Collins, three brothers and two sisters.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel at Forest Park

Blanche Marie Contadellucci Davis was born December 12, 1933. A native of 
Philipsburg, PA. Passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2008.

Beloved wife of James J. Davis II for 54 years. Loving mother of daughter Ann 
Marie Clark and son James J. Davis III. Grandmother of Danielle and Kimberly 
Davis and Michael Clark. Mother-in-law of Gary Clark and Lisa Mylie Davis.

A past resident of New Orleans, Metairie, Kenner and Covington and a resident of 
Mandeville for the past 26 years. She was a retired real estate agent for 
Wagner-Truax for 20 years, retired owner and President of Southern Comfort 
Homes, Inc. of St. Tammany Parish from 1982-1993. Married at First English 
Lutheran Church of New Orleans by Pastor Edgar Homrighausen on March 13, 1954. 
Past member of Atonement Lutheran Church of Metairie from 1960-1982, Holy 
Trinity Lutheran Church of Covington from 1982-1990 and a member of The Village 
Lutheran Church of Lacombe since 1990.

Private graveside services were held on Monday, December 8, 2008 at Pinecrest

Jonathan Stephen DiLeo passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2008 from 
complications related to the treatment of a brain tumor.

Beloved son of Stephen and Cassy DiLeo; loving brother to Michael Carlo DiLeo, 
Kathryn DiLeo, and new brother to Phillip Michael "M.J." Coates; grandson to 
Larry R. Miele, Sr. and Marlene Miele; and nephew of Larry Miele, Jr., Charles 
DiLeo, Patricia Rodrigue and her husband David, Nancy Meier, Carol Benit and her 
husband Thomas, Trudy DiLeo and her husband Chris Shaw and Janet DiLeo Wade, as 
well as numerous cousins and other relatives. He is also survived by his best 
friend, Robyn Rubins and his favorite teachers, Patricia Vicknair and Sidney 
Rougelot. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. Carlo A. DiLeo, Ruth LaCroix 
DiLeo and Cheryle Townsend Miele; an aunt, Lillie R. DiLeo; and an uncle, 
Christopher DiLeo.

Age 17 years, a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Covington, LA for 
the past 16 years, he was an Honor Student of the Junior class at Fontainbleau 
High School and a former student of Northlake Christian School. While attending 
FHS he participated on the Cross Country Team, the Philosophy Club and the 
Creative Writing Club. He was a member of the Youth Group of First Baptist 
Church of Covington and a former member of the Youth Group of Hope Church of 
Waldheim. He was a passionate reader of history, theology and science, and 
aspired to be both a professor and author. He was also an accomplished public 
speaker and won several public speaking awards. Jonathan was very caring and 
this was demonstrated by his stated request through the Make A Wish Foundation 
to fund an irrigation project for an orphanage in Zimbabwe.

Grace Rodriguez Dunaway passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at the age 
of 83.

Beloved wife of the late Harold C. Dunaway. Devoted mother of H. Tim Dunaway and 
the late Susan Ann Dunaway and Patricia Ann Kight. Daughter of the late Octavia 
Glass Rodriguez and Enos Rodriguez. Sister of the late Gertrude Thomas. Also 
survived by her granddaughter Tasha Dunaway Hartfield and her husband John; her 
cousins, Betty Hunt and Helen Galloway; and nieces and nephews. 

She was a native and lifelong resident of Franklinton.

Joan Edwards passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the age of 74.

Beloved wife of the late Owen Edwards.

Devoted mother of Cheryl Tyrney, Linda DiMarco, Michael "Ed" Edwards, Pamela 
Fleitas, Gerald Edwards and Brian Edwards. Daughter of the late Marie and Andrew 
Wanner. Sister of Jerry Wanner and the late Clifton Wanner,Donald Wanner, Louise 
Stonicher and Leon Wanner. Also survived by 18 grandchildren and 16 great-
grandchildren.

Mrs. Edwards was a native of Covington and a longtime resident of Madisonville.

ERNCE

L.R. "Scotty" Ernce, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at 8 p.m.

He was the beloved husband of Linda; father of Scotty, Michael and Tammy; and 
grandfather of Brittany, Lindsey, Tyler and Cameron.

Scotty was a resident of Slidell for 31 years. He dedicated 60 plus years to the 
U.S. Marine Corps.

The family would like to give special thanks to Allen Titus, the Marine Corps, 
the Marine Forces Reserve and staff located at 4400 Dauphine St. for all their 
support.

Semper Fi "Always Faithful" - faithful to the mission at hand, to each other, to 
the Corps and to the Country, no matter what.

The family was told that there is no such thing as an ex-Marine. Scotty was well 
liked, well respected and will be missed and that if the Marines had a poster 
child it would be him. His family loved him and will miss him dearly.

Out of respect for Ernce's wishes, the family will hold a private service.

Arrangements were made by Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell.

EVANS

Vonnie Ruth Evans, 77, of Pearl River, passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008.

She was a hair dresser at Please You Beauty Salon and a member of Eastern Star, 
First Baptist Church and the Amaranth.

Vonnie is survived by three sons, Raymond Evans, Ray Landry and Richard Landry 
of Pearl River; one stepson, Marty Dewitt of Dallas; and one stepdaughter, Karen 
Evans of Oklahoma City, Okla. She is also survived by three sisters, Eldress 
Hankins, Lottie Harper and Fleeta Sandler, 14 grandchildren and three great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by Otis H. Evans and two brothers, Joseph R. Garretson 
and Henry Eugene Miller.

Funeral services will be held today, Dec. 3, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of 
Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Highway 41, Pearl River, with Bros. Alvin Waller 
and Paul Clark officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time.

Interment will follow in Evans Creek Cemetery.

FAYARD

On Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, John F. Fayard passed away. He was 89 years old.

Fayard was a contractor in the construction business and was a United States 
Navy veteran, serving his country during World War II. He fought in the battle 
of the Coral Sea.

He is survived by a son, John F. Fayard Jr.; two brothers, Hiram and Herlon 
Fayard; a sister, Jeanette Fayard; and five grandchildren, Jack, Jill, Kelsey 
and Adam Fayard and Steve Keller. He is also survived by four great-
grandchildren, Jackson, Abby, Amanda and Stephanie.

Graveside services were held Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard 
Memorial Gardens, Chalmette.

Ruby Fontenot, 63, of Huxley, Texas, passed away Monday, Dec. 1, 2008.

Her wishes were to be cremated, and no services are planned at this time.

She was born Aug. 17, 1945, to Herbert George and Edna Mae (Mitchell) Pittman. 
She was a retired teacher with the St. Tammany Parish School Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Edna Pittman, and brother, 
Hulon Pittman.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn Fontenot of Huxley; a son, Lee Gaines of 
Huxley; a daughter, Gwen Jackson of Slidell; a daughter and son-in-law, Becky 
and Chris Cureau of Covington; two stepchildren, Christy Wobberking and husband 
John of South Lake, Texas, and Michael Fontenot of Euless, Texas; grandchildren, 
Julie Gaines, Kailey Gaines, Jacobs Gaines, Travis Knott, Krystal Knott and Kyle 
Knott; step grandchildren, Joshua Jackson, Alec Cureau, Sarah Wobberking and 
Jayden Fontenot; and two brothers, Herbert Pittman of Pearl River and Herman and

Steven Randolph Franck Jr., 20, of Picayune, Miss., died Saturday, Nov. 29, 
2008.

He attended First Pentecostal Church on Robert Boulevard in Slidell.

He is survived by his parents, Blandina Werner and Steven Franck Sr.; one 
brother, Aaron Joshua Franck; and one sister, Lili Werner. He is also survived 
by his grandparents, Betty and Bill Franck and Linda and Walter Tyner, and 
numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at 2 p.m. in Hickory 
Memorial Gardens Cemetery, located at Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Highway 41, 
Pearl River.

Elma Glockner Faciane Fuller passed away on Friday, December 5, 2008.

Beloved wife of the late Willard Faciane by her first marriage and Rufus Fuller 
by her second. Mother of Linda Faciane Latil Pierce. Grandmother of Connie 
Simer, Patricia Taylor, Steven Latil and William Latil. Also survived by 12 
great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her 
loving brothers and sisters: Rudolph and Clifford Glockner, Cleo Meiners, Olga 
Fandal, Melvin "Putty" Bruno, Dolores Pellegrin, Russell Glockner and Bernice 
Farley.

Age 97 years. A native and lifelong resident of Mandeville, LA.

GRAHAM

Jean M. Graham, 78, of Slidell, passed away on Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at her 
home.

She was the beloved wife of the late William B. Graham, the mother of Joseph 
Fetters, Mark Fetters, Katherine Fetters Sconza, Carolyn Upton Graham, Laura 
Graham Conley, Frances Beecher Graham and Sarah Peckham Sack. She is also 
survived by 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and her brother, Tommy 
Morgan.

Graham was a native of Hamilton, Ohio, a former resident of Overland Park, Kan., 
and a resident of Slidell for the past 13 years. She was a pre-school teacher 
and was an active volunteer at Slidell Memorial Hospital.

Graham was also a member of the Red Hot Sweet Peas Red Hats in Slidell.

Services will be held at a later date in Overland Park. Arrangements were made 
by Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell.

James "Jim" J. Grogan passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008.

Beloved husband of 61 years to Martha Bivona Grogan; father of Barbara Grogan 
and Kathleen Grogan Tyrney and her husband Billy; grandfather to Christina 
Stanga Jerde and her husband Collin; and great-grandfather to Brittnee Stanga. 
He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lola Bishop Grogan; his father, John 
Grogan.

Age 84 years, he was a native of Birmingham, AL and a resident of Covington, LA 
for the past 58 years. Jim served honorably in the United States Navy during 
World War II. For many years, he served as the Volunteer Fire Chief for the 
Covington Fire Department. He was instrumental in the conversion of the 
Covington Fire Department from a volunteer department to a paid department.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Celebration of 
Christian Burial on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of 
E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433.

Mark Allen Barlow Hackney, 27, passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, in Ozark, Ark.

Mark was a free spirit with many friends. People who knew him loved him because 
he made them feel at ease. Mark helped everyone who needed him. He will always 
be loved and never forgotten.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. today at Picayune Funeral Home 
Chapel, with Bro. Danny Johnson officiating. Visitation was Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 
Picayune Funeral Home.

Mark is survived by his parents, Dennis A. and Pamela Hackney of Picayune, 
Miss.; two brothers, Dennis W.G. Hackney of Picayune and Kristian Hackney of 
Japan; one sister, Melissa (Greg) Bauman of Japan; one niece Rebecca Bauman of 
Japan; Grandma Roberta, Aunt Rosie and family in Omaha, Neb., Warsaw, Mo., and 
in Tulsa, Okla.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Leona Krueger Hall, 86, of Slidell, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008.

She was the mother of Randy Hall (Leslie), Ramona Wilday (Danny), Russell 
(Patty), Ronnie and Ricky Hall (Shawn). She was the sister of Luetta Morrissey, 
Leland Krueger (Arleen), Lorain Krueger (Joan), the late Glen and Clem Krueger; 
the loving grandmother of Scott (Amanda), Jeffry Hall (Katy), Richard Wilday, 
Kyle Hall, Cristina Hall, Hannah Hall, Jacob Hall, Angela Cocran, the late 
Michael Hall and Timothy Wilday; and great-grandmother of Shelby, Abby, Scott 
and Mia Hall.

Hall was a native of Elk Creek, Neb., and a resident of Slidell since 1963.

She was an active member with First United Methodist Church of Slidell and 
several other civic organizations.

She was a retired executive secretary with Lockheed-Martin.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
at noon Saturday at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. W. (in Forest Lawn 
Cemetery). Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is from 9

Robert Ross Herrick, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the age 
of 69.

Father of Amy Elisabeth Herrick and Amanda Lee Herrick Estapa. Brother of Janet 
Lee "JL" Foster and Martha "Marti" Jane Bough. Step-father of Robert McCormick 
Trent, Jr. and James Leonard Trent. New grandfather of Jillian Lee Estapa and 
step-grandfather of seven.

He graduated from Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT where he was Co-Social 
Chairman of Kappa Delta Rho. He was a captain in the U.S. Army where he received 
the Meritorious Service Award. He was a commercial Insurance Broker for Union 
Mutual and Paul Revere Life Insurance. He was the Distribution Manager for the 
Boca Raton News in Boca Raton, FL.

Private funeral services will be held at a future date.

Heather Herring, Paul Jr., Michael, Debbie and Christy Taylor. Great-grandmother 
of Steven, Samantha, Christopher and Tabitha Fisk, Brayden and Landon Rohr and 
Natalie Merrell. Great-great-grandmother of Alliyah Fisk, Christopher Fisk Jr. 
and Christian Fisk.

Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Herring was a former member of Bridgedale Baptist Church in Metairie, 
currently a member of First Baptist Church of Slidell, and a member of the 
Sunshine Club.

Aged 84 years, a native of Tyronza, Ark., a former resident of Metairie and a 
resident of Slidell.

Andrew Paul "Andy" Hrivnak passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2008 at the age 
of 70.

Beloved husband of Estelle Jourdan Hrivnak. Son of the late Susan Roskos Hrivnak 
and Andrew Hrivnak. Brother of Sue Hrivnak and the late Elsie Duris. Also 
survived by sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He was a project coordinator for Intrepid Stone Contractors and was actively 
involved with the Terrytown Volunteer Fire Department many years. He also served 
in the U.S. Navy from 1959 through 1965 and was a Petty Officer Second Class.

Relatives, friends, employees of Intrepid Stone, members of the Terrytown 
Volunteer Fire Dept., Ladies Auxillary and members of St. John Lutheran are

Carmelite Schulte Joseph, 81, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 1, 2008.

She was born on Feb. 11, 1927 in New Orleans. She was a member of Bedico Baptist 
Church and United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a retired Bell South 
Telephone Co. employee of 30 years.

She is survived by her three children; April Joseph Drushel, Michelle Joseph 
Perry and son-in-law, Wesley, and Tim Joseph and daughter-in-law, Ronda. She 
loved her grandchildren, Jason Drushel, Mathew Bernier, Michael and Jodee 
Delatte Bernier, Chelsea Bernier, Christopher and Janelle Joseph. Her step-
grandchildren, Amanda Dickerson, Wesley Perry, Jr., Nick and Jessica Bloesser. 
Surviving brothers are Jay and Jerry Schulte; sisters, Doll Riley and Connie 
Mayer.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Armand Joseph; son-in-law, Victor M. 
Bernier III; her parents Emma and Henry Schulte; brothers, Henry and Ott 
Schulte; and sister, Bonnie Schulte.

Hugh J. Kelly, past President and CEO of ODECO, and former Director of Hibernia, 
Tidewater, Inc., CLECO, and Gulf Island Fabrication, Inc. and past President of 
Mid-Continent Oil Association and the United Way Campaign in New Orleans, passed 
away on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the age of 83, following a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jean Kelly; and children, Michael, 
Patti, Pamela, Kevin, and Shawn; and grandchildren, Colin, Amy, Joshua, Jessica, 
Hannah, Rose, Sophia, and Chloe; and great-grandchild Faith; and one brother, 
Charles Kelly.

on Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at Christian Life Center (just past the cathedral 
on the left), located at 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, LA, 70457, situated on

Joe Floyd Kennedy, Sr., 71, of Pearl River, passed away at Louisiana Heart 
Hospital, on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, of cancer.

He was the beloved husband of Kay Merrill Kennedy (married 49 years); father of 
two sons, Joe F. Kennedy II of Picayune, Miss., and Terry Wayne Kennedy of Pearl 
River; and one daughter, Paula K. Kennedy of New Orleans.

He was the son of the late George and Edna W. Kennedy and brother of Villery 
(Bell) Martin of Pearl River.

He is also survived by five grandchildren, Stacy Lynn (Jed) Livingston,
Jonathan Kennedy, Joseph Paul Kennedy, Kayla Marie Kennedy and Alyssa Victoria 
Shane, and many nieces and nephews.

A native of Bogalusa and lifelong resident of Pearl River, he was a U.S. Army 
veteran serving in the 82nd Airborne at Ft. Bragg, N.C. He was a retiree of 
Louisiana State Police and a retiree of St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office and 
an avid Louisiana sportsman.

On Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, Diane Churchill LaBiche passed away. She was 68 
years old.

Born in England, she was a resident of Slidell and a waitress in the 
restaurant/bar industry.

Mrs. LaBiche is survived by three children, Terry Potter and Kim Hall, both of 
Maurepas, and Michael Bovia of Slidell; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Ivy Churchill, and a 
sister, Patricia Collins.

Raymond Patrick Ladouceur, born on St. Patrick's Day in 1927 in Motreal, Canada, 
passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the age of 81.

A pianist, Mr. Ladouceur spent most of his professional career entertaining 
music lovers on Bourbon Street in New Orleans using his stage name, Ray Ladd. He 
was featured nightly for years, first at Lucky Pierre's and then at Begue's in 
The Royal Sonesta Hotel. Even in retirement, Mr. Ladouceur continued to play his 
beloved piano at Restaurant Des Familles in Lafitte.

In 1955, Mr. Ladouceur recorded his first album with his father, Phililbert, who 
played the organ on the patio of Pat O'Brien's in the 60's and 70's. His second 
album, a Nice Ladd, was released in 1977. It contains his original song, 
"Sideman". The album cover describes his music thusly, "His is a rather 
economical style, modern and not at all obscure, impressionistic but not 
dissonant. A style that is of interest and can be listened to with the 
expectation of surprises and turns of whimsy."

Mr. Ladouceur is survived by his children, Raymond Phillip Ladouceur, David 
Ladouceur, Laura Roberts and Diane Liebrader; his sister, Lucille Holdford; and 
eight grandchildren. His wife, Anne, died in 1994.

Funeral services and interment in Hope Mausoleum were private. E.J. Fielding 
Funeral Home, Covington, LA is in charge of arrangements.

Glenda Rae Stein Lawrence passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at the age 
of 54.

Beloved wife of James Lawrence.

Mother of Shelah Freitag-Shaw, Steaven Duffy, Shannon Pendergrast, Timmy Duffy 
and George Duffy. Daughter of the late Shirley Ann and Ray L. Stein. Also 
survived by 3 brothers, 2 sisters and 8 grandchildren.

Mrs. Lawrence was a native and lifelong resident of Madisonville.

Sybil R. Lewis, 87, of Slidell, passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at Northshore 
Regional Medical Center.

Lewis was the beloved wife of the late Robert C. Lewis Jr.; the mother of Robert 
C. Lewis III and Gerald J. Lewis; mother-in-law of Sheryl Lewis and Melanie 
Natal Lewis; and the daughter of the late Louis and Lorenza Ritter.

She is also survived by four grandchildren, Robert C. Lewis IV, Melissa Lewis,, 
Gerald J. Lewis Jr. and Gordon J. Lewis; and three great-grandchildren.

Lewis was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell for the past 33 
years. She was a founding parishioner of St. Luke Catholic Church in Slidell and 
was a former member of the Happy Hour Club and Senior Citizens Club at St. 
Luke's.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral Mass at 1 
p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 910 Cross Gates Blvd., 
Slidell. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. 
Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery No. 2 in New Orleans. Masses are

Wade Hampton Lowe passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2008. 

He was born February 16, 1941 in Port Gibson, MS to the late Robert B. and 
Laverne McCool Lowe and has been a resident of Covington for the past 14 years.

The beloved husband of Catherine McDaniel Lowe, he is survived by his daughter, 
Stefany L. Middleton and her husband Jay; two grandsons, Mack and Lee Middleton; 
one brother, Robert B. Lowe of New Orleans and his sister, Anne L. Westrope of 
Huntsville, AL.

After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi, Wade went to work 
for the oil rig manufacturer, Marathon-Letourneau. He retired from a management 
position there in 1986 after 23 years of service. Wade married, moved to 
Covington and worked in sales at Poole Lumber Company until his retirement in 
2004.

MALONE, ELIZABETH 
(September 19, 1924 - December 15, 2008)

Elizabeth Malone, one of the elders in the community of Covington La, passed 
away on Sunday, December 14th. 

Elizabeth had the heart and soul of an artist which she expressed for many years 
through her activities in the Playmakers Theater in which she was a founding 
member since 1955. She was a gifted color artist at Ogden's Studio for over 25 
years and was also a prolific poet. 

She has been a member of First United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church and 
Trinity Evangelical Free Church.

She was the daughter of the late G.W. Malone and the late Kettye Williamson 
Malone. 

She is survived by a host of relatives, including the families of the late J.E. 
Drinkard of Covington, the late Bert Drinkard and the late Max Drinkard, both of 
Mobile, Alabama. She is also survived by cousins, Blanding Drinkard of Mobile, 
Alabama, George Drinkard of Covington and Raymond Pujol and family of Bunkie, 
Louisiana. 

Her gentle nature and boundless sense of humor will be missed by friends and 
family.

Curley Louis Marcotte died Monday, December 15 at the age of 67.

He was a resident of Springfield, LA and a native of Covington, LA. He also 
lived in Lafayette and Jackson, MS for many years. A graduate of St. Paul's 
School and LSU, where he was president of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He served 
as an officer in the USMC.

He was an executive with Phillip Morris for 30 years. An active fisherman and 
woodworker, Curley also was involved in the community. He volunteered at St. 
Vincent de Paul's and the Tangipahoa Food Pantry as a volunteer and Board 
member. March 11, 2009 he would have celebrated 30 years of sobriety. AA was a 
large part of his life and many were helped by his devotion to the program. A 
member of the St. Paul's alumni group, he especially enjoyed his monthly 
breakfasts with a group his high school classmates. He was a generous soul who 
would give anything that was asked of him.

He is survived by his daughter Johannah Brown (Alfred, III), sister Marion 
Walther, sister D'Wana Naquin (George), brother, Jerry and sister Anna Lee 
Pierson (Clint).

He was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Romano and his parents Curley 
and Anna Marcotte. He is also survived by twenty three (23) nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial mass on 
Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 1pm at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 E. 19th 
Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, 70433. Visitation at the church will begin at 
11am. Interment will follow mass at St. Joseph Abby cemetery.

Evan Joseph Melancon, Jr. passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2008. 

He was born April 24, 1939 in Shreveport, LA to the late Evan, Sr. and Elaine 
Melancon and was resident of Covington for many years before recently moving to 
Chickasha, OK.

He is survived by four daughters, Deborah Melancon, Michele M. Malatak, Lisa M. 
Patrick and Karen M. Rojas; one brother, Charles Melancon; his sister, Joan C. 
Melancon and nine grandchildren.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial mass on 
Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 3:00 PM from the chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral

Daniel J. Mizell passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2008. 

He was born December 4, 1920 in Sugartown, LA to the late Eugene and Annie 
Terrell Mizell and has been a resident of the Lee Road Community for most of his 
life.

He is the beloved father of Sarah "Sam" Mizell Ramser and John H. Johnson, Jr., 
he is survived by one brother, Shelton Mizell; five grandchildren: Leslie 
Johnson, Patri Talley, Russell Ramser, James Ramser, II and Brie Ramser; 12 
great-grandchildren: Dustin, Logan, Bailey, Peyton, Amber, Paige, Kaylon, 
Makayla, Dawson, Arreanna, Natalie, Tyler and one great-great granddaughter, 
Brooklyn Crawford. 

He was preceded in death by his former wife, Myrtle Stogner Mizell Pace; his 
wife, Vera Smith Johnson Mizell; three brothers: Willie, Sr., Howard and Floyd 
Mizell; his sister, Clarice Adams and a great-granddaughter, Megan Crawford.

Mr. Mizell served in the U.S. Army, with four tours of duty during World War II, 
he retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and was an active 
member of the Lee Road United Pentecostal Church and the American Legion Post 
#0401 in Baton Rouge.

Alma Perrilloux Morse died peacefully at home Sunday, December 7, 2008. 

She was born November 11, 1922 to the late Edward and Lucy Simmons Perrilloux 
and has been a resident of Madisonville for many years.

The beloved wife of the late Chester W. Morse, she is survived by her daughter, 
Christine M. Catchot (Tommy); daughter-in-law, Winnie LeBlanc; four 
grandchildren: Jeremy Catchot, Nikki Walker (Jason), Regina Froust (Gil) and Lee 
Ruberts (Chuck); her niece and caretaker, Helena Mollo; six great grandchildren: 
Darrell, Alexis, Ryan, Corey, Ryan, Justin and two great-great grandchildren, 
Matthew and Max. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Milton LeBlanc and grandson, Glenn Ray 
LeBlanc. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Alma was loved by all who knew her and will be missed deeply.

Billie Jean Rains Niver passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2008.

She is survived by her step-children, Sandra Baudoin, Sharon Baudoin, Katherine 
Christie, Elizabeth Backes and Margaret Niver McGann. She is also survived by 
six step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.

Age 79 years. A native of Alexandria, LA and a resident of Covington, LA.

NUNEZ

Charles "Cut" Nunez, 79, of Slidell, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at his 
residence.

He was the beloved husband of the late Amber Meyers Nunez; father of Charles C. 
Nunez Jr. (Kaysea), Ellen Marie Nunez Lamarque (John), Barnie Arthur Nunez and 
Laura Nunez McKinney (Steve); and brother of James Nunez, Estelle Coogler, Rhea 
Pershing, Juanita Merrill, Margie Mayfield and the late Charlene Patricia 
Callens.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a vast 
number of nieces and nephews.

A native and lifelong resident of Slidell, Nunez loved gardening and enjoyed 
sharing his bounty with friends and family. He was well known for his carpentry 
skills.

He drove a school bus for 26 years and is fondly remembered by the students who 
rode with him. His love of hunting and fishing was passed on to his children and 
grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday evening at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause 
Blvd. W. (in Forest Lawn Cemetery). 
Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Slidell.

Because of Cut's love of gardening, the family has asked that donations be made 
to the Paul Payne Agricultural Scholarship Fund, 648 Maine Ave., Slidell, La. 
70458, in lieu of flowers.

Charles L. O'Brien died peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2008 surrounded by 
family. 

He was born on August 10, 1924 in New Orleans to the late William and Mary 
Johnston O'Brien and was a resident of Covington for over 50 years.

He graduated from St. Joseph Seminary High School in June 1940 and from Tulane 
University Phi Beta Kappa in 1950. He served honorably in the United States Navy 
during World War II.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alyce O'Brien; his children and 
their spouses: Christine and Bill Lozes, Betsy O'Brien, Michael O'Brien, David 
and Lillian O'Brien, and John Preble; grandchildren: Wesley and Chris O'Brien, 
Andrew and William Preble, Maegan and Sean O'Brien, and Brian and Allison Lozes; 
and one great-granddaughter, Sonia O'Brien. He was preceded in death by two 
brothers, William and Edward O'Brien, and by his daughter Ann O'Brien.

Charlie was a licensed real estate broker; Louisiana State Certified General 
Appraiser, and a long-time member of the St. Tammany, Louisiana and National 
Associations of Realtors. He served as a director and regional vice-president of 
the Louisiana Association of Realtors, and as the president of the St. Tammany 
Board of Realtors. He was selected as Ethics Committee Chairman and Realtor of 
the Year by the St. Tammany Association of Realtors. He qualified as an expert 
real estate appraiser in many state courts and was a panelist and lecturer for 
real estate appraisal issues.

Charlie participated actively in the Catholic Church. He was awarded the medal 
of the Order of St. Louis by Archbishop Hannan on May 2, 1976. He served on the 
St. Peter Parish School Board in 1989 and was an honorary member of the Society 
of St. Teresa of Jesus and a frequent lector and volunteer at St. Peter Catholic 
Church. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial 
mass on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 2:00 PM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 
E. 19th Ave., Covington, LA 70433.

Frechou; and a brother, Maurice Penot. Mr. Penot was preceded in death by his

Dr. Thomas Price, formerly of Shelbyville, died Dec. 14, 2008 at Pontcharain 
Health Care Center, Mandeville, LA. 

Born January 20, 1928 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Dr. Clarence John & 
Bernadine (Henry) Price.

Survivors include his wife, Bernadine (Lemoine) Price; son, Terrance Price, 
Mandeville, LA; daughters, Debbie Hermann Price, Covington, LA, Mary Alice 
Hambers, Sitka, Alaska, Tina Price, Mandeville, LA; brother John Price, 
Smithville, IN; sister, Cindy Hamberg, Cincinnati, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Patrick Price and sister, 
Josephine Ellen Price.

Dr. Price was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Visitation will be Monday, December 22, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at 
Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison, Shelbyville, IN.

Pansy Baughman Quave passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2008.

She was born August 26, 1932 in Ponchatoula, LA to the late William Monroe and 
Ester Griffin Baughman, was a life long resident of Covington and worked for 
Norman Haik Clothing Store for over 40 years.

The beloved mother of Sandra Q. Jenkins, she is survived by; one sister, Peggy 
Ruth Fontenot; three grandchildren: Kevin Booth, April Booth and Angela Rusich 
and her former husband, Steve Quave. She was preceded in death by one brother, 
Joseph David Baughman and her sister, Mildred B. Dirr.

REESE

Marion Earle Reese, age 75, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008 after a courageous battle 
with cancer at his home in Fairhope, Ala. with his wife Elaine and family by his 
side.

Marion graduated from Lanphier High School in Springfield, Ill. where he played 
basketball and later graduated from Middle Tennessee State University. He served 
during the Korean War with the SeaBee's in the US Navy, followed by the Army 
National Guard as a Warrant Officer.

Marion taught mathematics at Marshall High School in Illinois before becoming a 
District Manager of Sales for Link Belt and P&H Cranes. He was an avid golfer 
and accomplished boater. He loved football, especially as a season ticket holder 
for the New Orleans Saints. His humor and love for family get-togethers, 
festivals, activities and parties brought many friends into his life.

Marion was a former member of Colonial Country Club in New Orleans and also a 
former member of Pontchartrain Yacht Club in Mandeville.

After relocating to Pass Christian, Miss., Marion was an active member of Pass 
Christian Isles Golf Club and was honored as the 1994 Italian Open Grand 
Marshall. He was formerly a member of Pass Christian Yacht Club.

Marion and his wife Elaine moved to Fairhope, Ala. after losing their home in 
Pass Christian to Hurricane Katrina where he became an active member of Quail 
Creek Golf Club, Fairhope Yacht Club, the American Legion, the Elks Club, and 
St. James Episcopal Church.

Marion is preceded in death by his beloved father and mother, Henry Earle and 
Roma Reese, and his previous wife, Carol Hogan Reese.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Elaine Peterson Reese, a wonderful 
mother and stepmother to his children, Michael (Kim), Susie (Jeff) Bishop, 
Elizabeth (Brad) Jones, Timothy, and Stephen, and step children Rick (Holly) 
Peterson, Todd (Jana) Peterson, and Rianne (Jimmy) Levy, and siblings Donny 
Reese, Leland Reese, and Elaine Sue Reese.

Missing his affection are his grandchildren Jenna (Chad) Raymond, Kiley Bishop, 
Austin and Sadie King and Jolie Reese and step grandchildren Kristen and Chad 
Peterson, Tyler Peterson, Andrew and Mary Kate Rigolo, Aidan and Noah Levy and 
great grandson Jarin Peterson. His honorary family members are Steve and 
Samantha Cook, Art Pengelley and man's best friend, his dog Bear.

His courageous energy was put into his last "Hoorah" at Thanksgiving with all of 
his family and closest friends at his side where Marion delivered his final 
family blessing wishing good health and happiness to us all.

Marion will be dearly missed.

Mary Frances Rizzo passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the age of 80.

Beloved wife of the late Tony Rizzo. Daughter of the late Flora Creel Seales and 
James Seales. Sister of Huey Wade and the late Perry Wade, Sr. and Jean Diebold.

She was a former resident of Chalmette and a resident of Mandeville for the past 
four years.

Louise Octavia LeBlanc Rudesill passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2008.

For 61 years, she was the beloved wife of Walter Rudesill who preceded her in 
death. 

A loving foster parent of four, she was the beloved aunt of Edie Huffman, Dale 
Burgess, Kay Caruso, Heather Doolittle, Joey Burgess and Brian Caruso. She is 
survived by three generations of nieces and nephews. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Louise Reinhardt LeBlanc; her 
father, Joseph Edgar LeBlanc, Sr.; and her siblings, Joseph Edgar LeBlanc, Jr., 
Dorothy LeBlanc Pete and Loys LeBlanc Fury.

Age 97 years, she was a native of New Orleans, LA and was a resident of Folsom, 
LA since 1958. 

She taught at St. John's Catholic School in Folsom for 50 years, was employed 
and retired from First National Bank of St. Tammany and was a volunteer at St. 
Tammany Hospital for many years.

SCHAEFER

Leon Schaefer Jr., 82, a longtime resident of Slidell, passed away on Tuesday, 
Dec. 16, 2008, in Carrolton, Ga.

He was the beloved husband of Evelyn Bird Schaefer; father of Cheryl Weisler, 
Leonell Fournet and Leon Schaefer III; stepfather of Linda Eiswirth; and brother 
of George Schaefer.

He is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a native of New Orleans, a resident of Slidell since 1969, and a resident 
of Carrolton Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Carrolton since 2005.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. W. 
(in Forest Lawn Cemetery). Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

STAMPLEY

Diana Stampley, 52, of Slidell, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Slidell 
Memorial Hospital.

She was the former wife of the late Jimmy Blocker; beloved wife of Lanier 
Stampley for 31 years; mother of John Blocker, Jimmy Blocker and Zachary 
Stampley; daughter of the late Lemuel O. and Mary F. Brown; and sister of Bill 
Mincey, Glenda Wade, Charlotte Shuler, Donna Poet, Janese Boone and Lemuel Brown 
Jr.

She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A native of Memphis, Tenn., and a resident of Slidell since the 60s, Diane was a 
wonderful wife, mother and an amazing friend to all who knew her.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. W. (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Saturday 
at 1 p.m.

Visitation will be today, Friday, Dec. 12, 2008 from 6-9 p.m. and on Saturday

SWORDS

Erica Lynn Swords, 44, resident of Austin, Texas, died peacefully Thursday, Nov. 
27, 2008, of complications from pancreatic cancer.

Erica was born on April 23, 1964 in Covington. After graduating from St. 
Scholastica Academy, Erica enrolled and graduated from Southwestern University 
in Georgetown, Texas in 1986. Erica loved the Texas Hill Country and decided to 
make Austin her new home.

Erica is survived by her loving family: parents, C.J. "Buster" Swords and Gayle 
Hurd Swords of Covington, three sisters, Stephanie Swords Fredericks, Kelly 
Swords, Wendy Swords Stouffer (husband Mark), and two brothers, Mike Swords 
(wife Ruby Crawford) and Cullom Swords (wife Lisa Thornburg). She is also 
survived by seven nieces and nephews: Michael Swords, Sara and Ali Fredericks, 
Heather and Claire Stouffer, and Kyle and Logan Swords.

The memorial service to celebrate Erica's life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6 
in Austin at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Erica will always be remembered for her smile, her sense of humor, and her love. 
She will be greatly missed by all. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in 
Erica's honor to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Denise Nicaud Villere, 92, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family 
Tuesday evening, December 9, 2008.

A native of New Orleans and a resident of Covington for almost 50 years, she was 
the beloved wife of 64 years of Edward J. Villere; mother of Edward D. (Mary 
Kathryn), Ronald J. (Charmaine), Donald J. (Colleen) and Keith J. (Carol) 
Villere and the late Denise V. (Larry) Centola; sister of' Roy J. Nicaud and the 
late Nathalie N. Andree, Emmet J. Nicaud and Albert J. Nicaud, Jr.; daughter of 
the late Nathalie Bayon and Albert J. Nicaud; also survived by 15 grandchildren, 
Ashley Chitwood, Eddie and Heath Villere, Larry, Denise and Deborah Centola, 
Jeremy and Kimberly Villere, Alexis Petit, Jacob, Jason, Matthew and Emily 
Villere and Emma and Zack Villere and 10 great-grandchildren.

Denise graduated from high school at 15 and the New Orleans Normal School at age 
18 and began teaching in the New Orleans Public School System. She graduated 
magna cum laude from Loyola University in 1940. After moving to Covington, 
Denise taught at the newly opened Elmer E. Lyon Elementary School and retired 
from teaching in 1981 from St. Peter School. Denise was active with the Ozone 
C's Square Dance Club, St. Peter Altar Society and the Covington Garden Club, 
and as a volunteer with Alpha House and Forest Manor Nursing Home. A Eucharistic 
Minister for many years, she was honored with the Medal of the Order of St. 
Louis by Archbishop Hannan in 2004.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Monday, December 
15, 2008 at 1 PM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 E. 19th Ave, Covington, LA.


Visitation at the Church at 10 AM until service time.

Interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Covington.

Sharon L. Walker, 65, of Carriere, Miss., died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at 
Northshore Regional Medical Center in Slidell.

She was the beloved wife of MSgt Richard Walker, USMC, retired; mother of 
Patrick Walker and MSgt. Richard Walker Jr., USAF; daughter of the late Leo and 
Lois Ryan; and sister of David Ryan, Michael Ryan, Jean Winsor, Roseann Ryan, 
Mary Taylor and the late William Ryan and Vicky Ryan. She is also survived by 
two grandchildren, Britt Johnson Walker and Hope Nicole Walker.

A native of Syracuse, N.Y., Mrs. Walker, a Marine Corps wife, served with her 
husband in various worldwide locations from 1964-1979 before being transferred 
to Louisiana. She was a resident of Slidell from 1980 to 1991, and moved to 
Carriere, where she resided until her demise. Walker worked in hotel management 
for many years, including at the Days Inn in Slidell.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 
Gause Blvd. W. (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell. 
Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Smith Warner, 84, of Monroe, formerly of 
Chalmette, will be held at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 3, 2008, in the chapel of St. 
Bernard Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, with the Rev. John Jeffries 
assisted by the Rev. Norman Bryant officiating. 
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.

Warner passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008.

Survivors include son, Karl D. Warner II and wife Debbie of Slidell; daughters, 
Gayle W. Rhymes of Bellevue and Betty W. Bundy of Monroe; brother, Jesse Ray 
Smith; three sisters, Gerry Ragusa, Georgia Bigelow and Betty Shook; eight 
grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Rhymes, Rodney Bundy, Brian Bundy, Seth Bundy, Karl 
Warner III, Joshua Warner, Roy Serpas, Hal Bigelow, Ralph Ragusa and Louis 
Leblanc.

Visitation will be held from noon until service time today at St. Bernard 
Funeral Home, Chalmette.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Azalea Assisted Living, Holly and 
Gail for their loving care and a special tribute to Catrice.

James Charles Weaver passed away on Monday, December 8, 2008 surrounded by his 
loving family in the family home.

Beloved husband of Alice Marie Weaver for 28.5 years. Father of Timothy, Randy 
and Brandon Flowers, Michael Weaver and Mychelle Bachtell. He had grandchildren 
that adored him, Zachary, Amanda, Amber, Aly, Meghan, Nicholas, Dylan Flowers 
and Sharae Weaver. Brother of George Weaver. Son of the late Charles and Elaine 
Weaver.

A native of Miami, OK and a resident of rural Franklinton, LA for the past 6 
years.

Jim retired from Conoco Phillips last year after 32 1/2 years, working his last 
years with brain cancer traveling back and forth to Houston. He had much valor 
through the battle and struggle of cancer. He was a much loved Deacon at Bogue 
Falaya Baptist Church.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation and 
funeral service at Bogue Falaya Baptist Church, 14278 Hwy 1077, Folsom, LA 70437 
on Saturday the 13th of December. Visitation from Noon until service at 2:00PM. 
Interment in Bogue Falaya Baptist Church Cemetery.

WESLEY

Dorothy D. Wesley was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ 
and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Slidell Memorial 
Hospital. 

She was 84 years of age and a resident of Slidell since 1979.

Wesley was retired from New Orleans Parish School System where she served as a 
custodian for 37 years.

She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Brown, and her mother, Alma 
Washington Davis.

Not only is she survived by many friends, but also by Coco, her canine pup whom 
she loved and adored like her very own child.

She was a great friend to all that knew her and will be sadly missed but fondly 
remembered.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Doyle's Funeral Home, 
2430 Fourth St., Slidell.
Interment will follow at Slidell Memorial Cemetery on Daney Street.
