DUQUESNAY, STUART BROCK (Died April 2, 2009) Stuart Brock duQuesnay died Thursday, April 2nd 2009, at home in Diamondhead, MS after a long illness. Age 52, Mr. duQuesnay was a resident of Diamondhead, MS for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma Jean Hebert duQuesnay and Noel Joseph duQuesnay. Stuart is survived by his siblings, Noel Clay duQuesnay and Emeric Charles duQuesnay of New Orleans, LA and Amy duQuesnay Mabon of Atlanta, GA as well as six nieces and nephews. Fielding Funeral Home and Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington, LA. ============================================================================== St. Tammany News (Covington, LA) Friday, April 3, 2009 BILLINGSLEY Michaelann Doty Billingsley, 72, of Madisonville, Tenn., passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 27, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Aug. 19, 1936, in Lima, Ohio, and graduated from Linden McKinley High School in Columbus, Ohio. In 1954, and after spending 34 years in Louisiana, she and her husband retired to Tennessee. She was preceded in death by parents, Michael J. Doty and Mary E. Means. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 54 years, Harold "Bing" Billingsley; sons, Arthur Billingsley of Lafayette and Guy John Billingsley of Shreveport; daughters, Debra Reed of Englewood, Tenn., and Carolyn Cusimano of Lacombe; grandchildren, Dr. Emily Latiolais-Billingsley, Sarah Chapman, Daniel Billingsley, Bradly Billingsley, Chad Billingsley, Jasmine Billingsley, Michael Barringer Jr., and Andrea Williams; and five great grandchildren. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by many. She was an artist, enjoyed knitting, cross-stitching and sewing outfits for her children and grandchildren in their younger years and was very supportive of her husband's affiliation with Elk's Lodge No. 2321 of Slidell. The family would like to give a special "thank you" to the UT Medical Hospice Services RN Angela Lewelliing and Dr. Stephen Miller for the loving help and support. She resided in Meridian, Miss., with her longtime companion James Joles. She is survived by three children, Tinker Blackwell, Cynthia Blackwell Yates and Allen Blackwell. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Felicia, Mass III, Jennie and Dustin Blackwell, Jody and Cassie Yates, David Blackwell Jr. and Adam and Bradley Blackwell; four great-grandchildren, Jerry Blackwell, Phoebe Tanner, Jody Yates Jr. and Cameron Travis; and sister Mattie Carol Crawford. She was preceded in death by her parents, Odess C. Evans and Elbert Cochran; son David Blackwell; two grandchildren, Ronald James Moran and Vivian Ray Blackwell; and one brother, Elbert Cochran. Rabalais. 81, peacefully passed away on Wednesday April 1, 2009, at Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He was a native of Plaucheville and a former resident of Slidell. He resided in Walker for the past three years. He was a retired marine mechanic and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard-Merchant Marines. He was the husband of Grace Wiefel Rabalis for 61 years. He was the father of Craig P. Rabalais, (wife Slyvia). He was the grandfather of the love of his life, Kristen Ray, (husband Jeff). He was the son of the late Otis and Olive Rabalais, brother of Cartie Horn, Jessie Naquin Mattern, Bernard Rabalais, Otis James Rabalais Jr., Dudley Rabalais, and the late Theresa Marchand and Huey Rabalais. He is survived by a host of nieces and nephews and a special niece Jill Brouillette, (husband Jerry), and great-niece Danelle Brouillette. He was the beloved husband of Linda D. Matteson for the past 22 years; loving father of Valerie Matteson of Erie, Pa., Daniel Denney, Jennifer Matteson Estrada and Christopher Matteson; son of Marie Webster Matteson of Lake Placid, Fla., and the late George D. Matteson; brother of George Matteson Jr., Elaine Rudy, Karen Downer and Marlene Wilhelm. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Chelsea Matteson, Kristina Estrada, Kyle Estrada, Chris Denny and Tyler Denny; and numerous relatives, friends and Parish Cab clients. He was the beloved son of Leroy J. and Jan Mayeux Jr., David W. Zechenelly and Terry Canulette Zechenelly; grandson of Leroy and Elise Mayeux Sr., and the late Frank K. and Doris Canulette; brother of Jennifer Brown, Richard Siener Jr. and Jennifer Siener. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews. Mayeux was a native and lifelong resident of Slidell. He was employed by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office. After being raised in New Orleans with her younger brother AJ, she began work at the Flintkote Company as a secretary. There she met and eventually married Henry Turner and moved to New Jersey. Anna (or "Susie" as Henry nicknamed her) was a Donna Reed mom - she was devoted to her daughters, Kathleen and Marianne, active in the Church in Radburn and an avid bridge player. It wasn't until later in our lives that we realized that her membership in the "Knitting Club" was really not about knitting, but about the friendships she formed with many women in her neighborhood. Henry and Susie retired to Slidell, Louisiana in 1974. After losing Henry in 1990, she reconnected with a lifetime friend, William P. Weber, and they married in 1992. With her health failing, she moved to Bozeman, Mont., in March 2008 and passed away under the loving care of the staff at the Gallatin County Rest Home. She is survived by her husband, Bill of Baton Rouge, daughter Kathy (Jack) McNeal Nolte of Queensbury, N.Y. and Tucson, Ariz., daughter Marianne (Bill) Murdock of Bozeman, grandchildren Will (Tracy) McNeal, Wyn (Brian) Murdock Schulz, Peter and Leigh Murdock, great-grandchildren Margaret McNeal, Addison and Alexander Schulz; and her brother AJ's children Ann Klein, Bruce, Bonnie Steen and Richard Bertram and Michelle Douglas. Doolittle, Jr., brother-in-law William J. Burgess, and nephew Joseph Edgar Burgess. Preceded in death by her husband, James W. Huffman and parents Joseph Edgar LeBlanc, Jr. and Edith Edna Root LeBlanc. Edith was born in Metairie on Nov. 22, 1939 and resided for the last 31 years in the Mandeville-Covington area. For several years she had a school of dance in Metairie. She worked as a bank manager for many years in the Mandeville- Covington area. Recently, she worked with the St. Tammany Council on Aging. Edith frequently entertained the patients at Pontchartrain Heath Care Center with a medley of songs. The beloved husband of the late, Erin Fuge Ajubita; he is survived by his brother, Captain Adolph M. Ajubita and one sister, Maria L. Franklin. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Joseph M. and Alfonso M. Ajubita and one sister, Beatriz M. Whited. Mr. Ajubita lived most his life in New Orleans under the employment of The United Fruit Co. as a Ship Master. He also served the U.S. Merchant Marines in this capacity during WW II and holds the rank of Commander with the U.S. Maritime Service. She was the loving wife of John Anthony Campora for 33 years who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her loving sister, Antonina Lombardo Ravain. She is survived two daughters, Linda Campora Guidry and Carolyn Campora Schutten; five grandchildren; Leila, Farrah, Serena Guidry, Melissa Schutten Rose (Glenn), Maryanne Schutten Jarrell (Joshua); and one great grandson, Noah Scott Jarrell. She is also survived by her brother, Frank Lombardo of New Orleans, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She has been a resident of Slidell since 1968 and a New Orleans resident previous to that. She retired from K & B in New Orleans after 45 years of loyal service as a secretary. In Slidell she belonged to the XYZ Club, Happy Hour, AARP and Mall Walkers. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. She graduated from Ursuline Academy and Soule Business School. She was living at Millington Nursing Home for the last several months near her daughter Linda Guidry. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Cook, 80, beloved wife and mother, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Camellia Gardens Retirement Community. Cook was born in Philadelphia on Oct. 25, 1928. When she was 6 years old, her family moved to Syracuse, N.Y. After graduating from Nottingham High School, she attended Mary Washington College. On Dec. 27, 1949, she married Gorton C. Cook of Syracuse and then moved to San Diego while her husband attended and graduated from San Diego State University. Subsequently, her husband, Gorton accepted an officer's commission in the U.S. Marine Corps. For the next 31 years, Joan enjoyed and actively participated in Officer's Wives Club functions, while her husband served his country. His assignments dictated extensive travel and residences throughout the United States with her family. One such tour was in Taiwan for two years. Additionally, Joan held various positions in the Republican Women's Associations. Joan also found time to be a Cub Scout Den Mother for her sons, Peter and Phillip. Even from early childhood, Joan pursued her love for horses and English riding. So much so, that after her husband's retirement from the Marine Corps, she established Magnolia Forest Stables in Pearl River, which she operated for 10 years as owner/trainer and teacher. She was also a member for LA Hunter Jumper Association, co-founder of the Gulfcoast Show Circuit and a registered steward for the American Horse Show Association. She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Gorton C. Cook; her son, Peter G., both of Slidell; her sister-in-law, Betty Cook of Lady Lake, Fla.; and her brother G. Robert McAllister and his family of Cazenovia, N.Y. She was preceded in death by her youngest son Phillip G. Sterling 3 1/2 years ago from Slidell following Hurricane Katrina. Mr. Thornton was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling, a retired mechanic and a U.S. Navy veteran. Rich Coleman is from Washington, DC and has been a professional musician for 39 years. The only son of an accomplished violinist, Rich began his music studies at 7 years of age. He studied the violin for seven years. When he turned 14 years old, he switched to drums and percussion and studied with Bill Chisholm, one of Washington, DC's most respected show drummers. On his 16th birthday, Rich completed a music audition in front of a panel of musicians representing the American Federation of Musicians Local 161-710 in Washington, DC. He then started performing with his father's 17 piece group composed of a 5 piece rhythm section and 12 strolling violins. The group known as the "Strolling Strings" was very much in demand in the Washington area in private and political circles. The group performed at many Washington, DC hotels and on Capital Hill for members of Congress. Rich has shared the stage with many of Washington, DC's finest musicians including: Guitarist Billy Gibson of the Gibson Guitar Company, Violinist Rut Hawn, father of Actress Goldie Hawn, and Bruce Steig, the principle piano player and conductor of the Metropolitan Opera Company. While in college in Daytona Beach, Florida, Rich performed with various musicians and groups including nationally renowned jazz pianist Dave McKenna and Lead Trumpet Player Don Trube of the Buddy Morrow Orchestra who recorded the hit song "Night Train". On the local scene, Rich has performed with the jazz trio he formed in 2005 in the Mandeville and Covington area. Known as the Bob Ellis Trio, the group composed of piano, bass and drums, is recognized as the best jazz and easy listening trio on the Northshore. Bob Ellis on piano and vocals has performed locally at the Royal Orleans Hotel for 12 years as a single entertainer. When joining Rich Coleman on drums and John Gillis on bass, the group transforms into a very sophisticated listening as well as dancing experience. Bob Ellis has performed with Steve Lawrence and Eyde Gorme on the NBC Today Show in New York and the Copa Cabana Club in New York City, as well as many venues all over the world with the United States Air Force Band. John Gillis who is a Dentist by profession is from Terre Haute, Indiana. John is also an accomplished jazz musician and has performed with many groups in Indianapolis, Indiana. He moved to New Orleans in the early 70's and has performed with many local musicians including the Herb Tassin Orchestra at the Fairmont Hotel's Blue Room in New Orleans. Dr. Gillis has also performed at the Steak Knife on Harrison Avenue in Lakeview with his own modern jazz group known as "Absolute Brew". The Bob Ellis Trio has a 3,000 song repertoire and performs music from America's Great Song Book and love songs from many countries around the world including the worlds most beautiful bosa novas from Brazil. The trio performed at D.Lamarque's Italian Restaurant in Mandeville for 14 months as well as Benjamin's Bistro in Covington, LA during the Friday Night Block parties. The group has also performed locally at Keith Young's Supper Club in Madisonville and Crown Plaza Hotel in New Orleans. In addition to being an accomplished musician, Rich Coleman is an aviation professional and flys for the Department of Homeland Security as a Federal Officer and pilot. He graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1975 with a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Science. He started flying when he was 16 years old paying for flying lessons from his music performances. Rich earned his Private Pilot License at 17 years of age before entering college. Rich achieved all his FAA Pilot Certificates at the minimum age by law, including the Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, the highest grade of pilot license issued by the FAA at the age of 23. He holds six instructor ratings and has logged over 11,525 hours in 42 types of aircraft including 2,700 hours in jets. Rich has been a pilot for the Federal Government for 22 years. Rich is also a Shriner and does volunteer work for Jerry Lewis. Age 56 years, a native of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Rich has been a resident in Beau Chene for the last five years. (now, Univ. of La., Lafayette) and then taught at John McDonogh H.S., and worked summers at Higgins Ship Builders for two years. During her time in college, she attended CPTP (Civilian Pilot Training Program) which launched her into the aviation main-stream as one of the first, military / professional, female pilots. Serving in WW II as a WASP and later, onto the USAF, as a pilot, she continued to be instrumental in general aviation for over fifty years. Her efforts and time to this endeavor included the fields of General (Private), Corporate and Military aviation. Marion inspired and lead aviation via, Flight Instruction, Chief of flight operations and FAA Flight Inspector. Mrs. Brown was also a participant of multiple Women's' Air Races, (Powder Puff Derby and Angel Derby) - in which she won, from Canada to Cuba in 1956. He was born on Dec. 20, 1933, in New Orleans and was the youngest child of the late Robert "Ralph" Abney and Lillian "Gertrude" Ragan Abney. A long-time resident of St. Bernard Parish, Abney had resided in Purvis, Miss., since 2005. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Gaynel Ann Abney Rogers; brothers, Melvin Abney and Donald Abney; and sisters, Lillian Nunez, Velma Saran and Fay Melancon. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 53 years, Clothilde Anysia Hingle Abney; his beloved son, Raymond Robert Abney Jr.; his son-in-law, Wade E.
