On Monday, March 30, 2009, Zion Jace Griffin, 6 days, went to be with our Lord.

He is survived by his parents, John Lee Griffin Jr. and Sherrell Nicol Sams 
Griffin; three brothers, Daniel Sams, John Griffin III and Elijah Griffin. He 
is also survived by grandparents, John Griffin Sr., Linda Griffin and Deidra 
Warren; and great-grandparents, Alma Young, Samuel Sams, Mariane Sams, Dorothy 
and John Batiste.

He was preceded in death by grandfather, Charles Thomas; and great-
grandparents, Amos Griffin Sr. and Elijah and Bernice Thomas.

Arrangements were made by D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Louisiana Highway 
41, Pearl River.

MARKEY, JOHN CHARLES 
(May 21, 1936 - April 1, 2009)

John Charles Markey passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. 

He was born May 21, 1936 in New Orleans to the late John A. and Bessie Gonzales 
Markey and was a resident of Covington.

The beloved husband of Janet Bischone Markey, he is survived by two sons, 
Robert A. and John C. Markey, Jr.; his daughter, Ann Markey Walters and one 
sister, Patricia M. Retif. He was preceded in death by one sister, Bessie M. 
Boucheaux.

Private family services were entrusted to E.J. Fielding Funeral Home of 
Covington, LA.

DUQUESNAY, STUART BROCK 
(Died April 2, 2009)

Stuart Brock duQuesnay died Thursday, April 2nd 2009, at home in Diamondhead, 
MS after a long illness.

Age 52, Mr. duQuesnay was a resident of Diamondhead, MS for 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma Jean Hebert duQuesnay and Noel 
Joseph duQuesnay.

Stuart is survived by his siblings, Noel Clay duQuesnay and Emeric Charles 
duQuesnay of New Orleans, LA and Amy duQuesnay Mabon of Atlanta, GA as well as 
six nieces and nephews.

A private Mass and burial were held Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at E.J. Fielding 
Funeral Home and Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington, LA.

BILLINGSLEY

Michaelann Doty Billingsley, 72, of Madisonville, Tenn., passed away peacefully 
at her home on Friday, March 27, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on Aug. 19, 1936, in Lima, Ohio, and graduated from Linden 
McKinley High School in Columbus, Ohio. In 1954, and after spending 34 years in 
Louisiana, she and her husband retired to Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by parents, Michael J. Doty and Mary E. Means.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 54 years, Harold "Bing" 
Billingsley; sons, Arthur Billingsley of Lafayette and Guy John Billingsley of 
Shreveport; daughters, Debra Reed of Englewood, Tenn., and Carolyn Cusimano of 
Lacombe; grandchildren, Dr. Emily Latiolais-Billingsley, Sarah Chapman, Daniel 
Billingsley, Bradly Billingsley, Chad Billingsley, Jasmine Billingsley, Michael 
Barringer Jr., and Andrea Williams; and five great grandchildren.

She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by many. She was an 
artist, enjoyed knitting, cross-stitching and sewing outfits for her children 
and grandchildren in their younger years and was very supportive of her 
husband's affiliation with Elk's Lodge No. 2321 of Slidell.

The family would like to give a special "thank you" to the UT Medical Hospice 
Services RN Angela Lewelliing and Dr. Stephen Miller for the loving help and 
support. 

A "Celebration of Life" service will be held at a later date, locations and 
dates are yet to be determined.

BLACKWELL

Jacqueline Ann Blackwell, 66, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009. 

She resided in Meridian, Miss., with her longtime companion James Joles.

She is survived by three children, Tinker Blackwell, Cynthia Blackwell Yates 
and Allen Blackwell. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Felicia, Mass 
III, Jennie and Dustin Blackwell, Jody and Cassie Yates, David Blackwell Jr. 
and Adam and Bradley Blackwell; four great-grandchildren, Jerry Blackwell, 
Phoebe Tanner, Jody Yates Jr. and Cameron Travis; and sister Mattie Carol 
Crawford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Odess C. Evans and Elbert Cochran; 
son David Blackwell; two grandchildren, Ronald James Moran and Vivian Ray 
Blackwell; and one brother, Elbert Cochran.

Funeral services were held on Thursday at Williams Funeral Home in Pearl River. 

Interment followed at Charter Oak Cemetery. 
The Rev. Billy Trusdey officiated.

RABALAIS

Floyd P. Rabalais. 81, peacefully passed away on Wednesday April 1, 2009, at 
Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge.

He was a native of Plaucheville and a former resident of Slidell. He resided in 
Walker for the past three years. He was a retired marine mechanic and a veteran 
of the U.S. Coast Guard-Merchant Marines. 

He was the husband of Grace Wiefel Rabalis for 61 years. He was the father of 
Craig P. Rabalais, (wife Slyvia). He was the grandfather of the love of his 
life, Kristen Ray, (husband Jeff).

He was the son of the late Otis and Olive Rabalais, brother of Cartie Horn, 
Jessie Naquin Mattern, Bernard Rabalais, Otis James Rabalais Jr., Dudley 
Rabalais, and the late Theresa Marchand and Huey Rabalais. 

He is survived by a host of nieces and nephews and a special niece Jill 
Brouillette, (husband Jerry), and great-niece Danelle Brouillette.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at noon Saturday 
at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., New Orleans. The Rev. J. 
Mark Holland will be officiating the services. 
Interment will follow in St. Louis Cemetery III. 
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations preferred to the St. James Episcopal 
Church, P.O. Box 126, Baton Rouge, LA, 70821.

Pascal John Drago, Jr. passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at his Folsom 
residence.

Beloved father of Tommy Drago, Sr. his wife Elizabeth and their children, 
Tommy, Jr. and Sarah, Tammy Drago Scontrino, her husband Brian and their 
children Gino, Anthony and Dominic, Gina Drago and her son Petey, and David 
Drago, Sr. his wife Donna and their children, David, Jr. and Dominique; and 
brother to Jackie D. DeLucca. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Piazza Drago; his mother, Margaret 
Louise Hamburger Drago; and his father, Pascal John Drago, Sr.

Age 75 years, a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Folsom, LA for the 
past 15 years. He retired after 30 years service with South Central Bell and 
AT&T as an installer, he was also a Louisiana Army National Guard veteran.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian 
Burial on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River 
Road, St. Benedict, LA 70457.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at E.J. Fielding 
Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Abbey Cemetery.

Annabelle Dowling passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Slidell Memorial 
Hospital after a brief illness. 

A native of Barrington, Ill, she was a resident of Slidell for 30 years.

She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. William Dowling.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mike and Cindy Cochran, and a 
multitude of loving friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial services 
at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Slidell.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parlor/Bride Room Fund at First United 
Methodist Church, would be appreciated.

Elizabeth "Lizzy" Ann-Marie Sturm, "our little angel of Lacombe," went to be 
with the Lord Wednesday, April 1, 2009.

She is survived by her parents, David and Marie Sturm; three brothers, Shawn 
Michael, Kaden Lee-Brice and James Austin Sturm; grandparents, Mildred Goss, 
Freddy Richards, Charles Thomas and Carlette Thomas; and great-grandparents, 
Virginia Dean, Vic Noto, Ruie Drake III and Lille Goss. She is also survived by 
uncles, Jesse Thomas (Sherry), Lawrence Richards (Marie) and Michael Sturm 
(Annie); aunts, Charity Richards, Jennifer Wasilewski (Chris); and other 
numerous great-aunts, uncles and friends. Also Lee Nickerson and Lee Chauney.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandfathers, the Rev. Charles Thomas 
Sr. and James Goss.

Visitation will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in 
Independence followed by funeral services. The Rev. Mitch Williams will be 
officiating. 
Interment will follow at Colonial Cemetery in Independence.

Lindsey Cook Evans Jr., 87, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2009.

Lindsey was a native of Ponchatoula and a resident of Bush.

He was the beloved husband of Beverly Commander Evans; father of Susan Evans 
Anders and Randall A. Evans; father-in-law of Kathleen W. Evans and James B. 
Anders Jr.; frandfather of Jennifer E. Miller, Stephanie E. Miller, Melissa E. 
Cano, Kimberly A. Fulks, James Anders, David Anders and Stuart Anders. He is 
also survived by five great grandchildren.

Evans was a member of Square & Compass Lodge 417, F. & A.M. of Kenner.

The memorial service was held Tuesday at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home in 
Covington.

is also survived by three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Robert Bradford "Bob" Nowlin passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the age 
of 60.

Beloved husband of Marie-France Nowlin. Loving father of Kristi Nowlin Spell 
and Sabrina Nowlin Shappley. Son of the late Inez Hazel Bradford Nowlin and 
Florentine Wade Nowlin. Grandfather of Ally, Brenna and Drew Spell. Brother of 
the late Bill Nowlin.

Mr. Nowlin was a State Farm agent for thirty years, a resident of the 
northshore for the past twenty years and a U.S. Navy veteran.

Dorothy Kelleher Simon passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2009. 

She was born January 5, 1915 in New Orleans to the late John J. and Grace 
Hamilton Kelleher and has been a resident of Mandeville, LA since 1982.

The beloved wife of the late Eugene Simon, she is survived by one daughter, 
Linda Simon Weber and her husband William; one son, Eugene K. Simon and his 
wife Ellen; five grandchildren: Kathleen E. Simon, Eugene K., Jr. (Marji), 
Jeanne S. Burvant (Johnny), Lisette S. Gros (Dale) and Charles G. Simon 
(Kerri). She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.

A graduate of Sophie Wright High School in New Orleans, Dorothy was a dedicated 
volunteer with the American Red Cross during World War II and continued her 
service for many years thereafter.

Private family memorial services were held on Saturday, April 11, 2009.

BUCKNER, WILLIAM EDWIN 
(March 12, 1928 - April 10, 2009)

William Edwin Buckner, born on March 12th, 1928 in Bessemer, AL, a lifetime 
resident of the Birmingham area and died April 10th , 2009 in Covington, 
Louisiana.

He attended Blessed Sacrament Academy, in Birmingham, AL. Served in the U.S. 
Marine Corp during WWII and received the Medal of Army, Navy and Air Force, 
Class B, Grade II. He was a charter member of the U.S. Auto Club and proud 
builder and owner of the Buckner Offy number four. He was co-owner of Midway 
Garage in Powderly, AL. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 668.

Visitation and Mass will be held Monday, April 13th at Saint Thomas Catholic 
Church in Montevallo, AL. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 pm with a Funeral Mass 
following.

Interment in Southern Heritage Cemetery, in Pelham, AL.

Survivors include his former wife, Ruth B. Buckner; daughter, Rita B. Wallace; 
sisters, Yolanda E. Messina and Mary J. Lee; grandchildren, Rebecca W. Pierce 
and Michael D. Wallace; great-grandchildren, Christopher Wallace, Brandon and 
Brittany Pierce, Alexis and Zachary Wallace; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, 
and nephews.

Betty Lou Keyes, 69, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2009.

Betty Lou was a native of St. Petersburg, Fla., and a longtime resident of 
Franklinton.

Ron Doman; daughter of Amy Keyes and the late Edward F. Keyes; and sister of 
Steve Keyes. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and three great 
grandchildren.

residence.

She was the beloved wife of Reginald "Reggie" Knight; mother of Tina Huffines 
(Allan); stepmother of Lisa Hibbs (Frank), Mark Knight (Ann) and Ryan 
Knight(Mindy); daughter of the late Helen Iva Hipp; and sister of Ann 
Clark(Mark). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 2 great 
grandchildren.

Robin Lee Matteson, 54, of Slidell passed away on Monday, April 6, 2009.

He was the beloved husband of Linda D. Matteson for the past 22 years; loving 
father of Valerie Matteson of Erie, Pa., Daniel Denney, Jennifer Matteson 
Estrada and Christopher Matteson; son of Marie Webster Matteson of Lake Placid, 
Fla., and the late George D. Matteson; brother of George Matteson Jr., Elaine 
Rudy, Karen Downer and Marlene Wilhelm. He is also survived by five 
grandchildren, Chelsea Matteson, Kristina Estrada, Kyle Estrada, Chris Denny 
and Tyler Denny; and numerous relatives, friends and Parish Cab clients.

Matteson was a native of Meadville, Pa., and a resident of Slidell for the past 
30 years. Along with his wife, Matteson was the owner and operator of Parish 
Cab Co. of Slidell. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of 
the Northshore Corvette Club and the Misfits Car Club of Bay St. Louis, Miss. 
Matteson was a wonderful husband and father and his memory will be forever 
etched in the hearts of all those he met throughout his life and business.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
at 2 p.m. today at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. W. (in Forest Lawn 
Cemetery), Slidell. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time.

Nicholas Joseph Mayeux, 30, of Slidell, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2009.

He was the beloved son of Leroy J. and Jan Mayeux Jr., David W. Zechenelly and 
Terry Canulette Zechenelly; grandson of Leroy and Elise Mayeux Sr., and the 
late Frank K. and Doris Canulette; brother of Jennifer Brown, Richard Siener 
Jr. and Jennifer Siener. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews.

Mayeux was a native and lifelong resident of Slidell. He was employed by the 
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. 
W. (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn 
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to funeral 
time tomorrow.

WEBER

Anna Marie Bertram Turner Weber, 94, was born in New Iberia on Oct. 20, 1913. 
After being raised in New Orleans with her younger brother AJ, she began work 
at the Flintkote Company as a secretary. There she met and eventually married 
Henry Turner and moved to New Jersey.

Anna (or "Susie" as Henry nicknamed her) was a Donna Reed mom - she was devoted 
to her daughters, Kathleen and Marianne, active in the Church in Radburn and an 
avid bridge player. It wasn't until later in our lives that we realized that 
her membership in the "Knitting Club" was really not about knitting, but about 
the friendships she formed with many women in her neighborhood. Henry and Susie 
retired to Slidell, Louisiana in 1974. After losing Henry in 1990, she 
reconnected with a lifetime friend, William P. Weber, and they married in 1992.

With her health failing, she moved to Bozeman, Mont., in March 2008 and passed 
away under the loving care of the staff at the Gallatin County Rest Home.

She is survived by her husband, Bill of Baton Rouge, daughter Kathy (Jack) 
McNeal Nolte of Queensbury, N.Y. and Tucson, Ariz., daughter Marianne (Bill) 
Murdock of Bozeman, grandchildren Will (Tracy) McNeal, Wyn (Brian) Murdock 
Schulz, Peter and Leigh Murdock, great-grandchildren Margaret McNeal, Addison 
and Alexander Schulz; and her brother AJ's children Ann Klein, Bruce, Bonnie 
Steen and Richard Bertram and Michelle Douglas.

Graveside services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Forest Lawn 
Cemetary in Slidell.

HAMILTON, JUDITH KAY TURNAGE 
(August 16, 1939 - April 11, 2009)

Judith Kay Turnage Hamilton passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the age 
of 69.

She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Hamilton; Sister and brother-in-
law, Marion and Jo Ann Long of Marion, IL; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Douillard, 
Anna Sue Wallen and Judith L. Hamilton all of the state of Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter "Beau" Finney; infant 
daughter, Laura Lee Finney; parents, Loren and Jewell Turnage; and brother, 
Kenneth Loren Turnage.

All services were private.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations in memory of Mrs. 
Hamilton to the Textron Humanitarian Fund.

Ardele Frances Robinson Kraemer passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2009. 

She was born October 18, 1937 in New Orleans to the late Louis John and Elaine 
Johnson Robinson and has been a resident of Amite, LA since 1989.

The beloved wife of the late Jerry Joseph Kraemer, Sr., she is survived by one 
son, Randy P. Kraemer; two daughters, Elaine H. and Caryn A. Kraemer and her 
sister, Vera R. Grimsley Barrett. She was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry 
J., Jr. and Gary L. Kraemer and her brother, Louis J. Robinson, Jr.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral 
Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433.

Edith Edna "Edie" LeBlanc Huffman, aged 69 years, on Monday, April 13, 2009.

Beloved mother of Heather Huffman Doolittle, revered grandmother of Rylan 
Elisabeth and Robert Thomas "Tripp" Doolittle, III, dearest friend and sister 
of Dale LeBlanc Burgess, also survived by son-in-law Robert T. Doolittle, Jr., 
brother-in-law William J. Burgess, and nephew Joseph Edgar Burgess. 

Preceded in death by her husband, James W. Huffman and parents Joseph Edgar 
LeBlanc, Jr. and Edith Edna Root LeBlanc.

Edith was born in Metairie on Nov. 22, 1939 and resided for the last 31 years 
in the Mandeville-Covington area. For several years she had a school of dance 
in Metairie. She worked as a bank manager for many years in the Mandeville-
Covington area. Recently, she worked with the St. Tammany Council on Aging. 
Edith frequently entertained the patients at Pontchartrain Heath Care Center 
with a medley of songs.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at noon on 
Thursday, April 16, 2009 at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st. Ave.,

SCHOLL

Arthur "Mickey" Scholl Jr., 67, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 7, 
2009, due to complications from a heart attack and a long battle with 
Parkinson's disease.

He was the beloved husband of Barbara Poleto Scholl of 44 years; loving father 
of Anthony, Glen and Mickey Scholl; father-in-law of Jeannie and Renee Scholl; 
grandfather of Courtney, Gavin, Colin and Mason; son of the late Eileen 
Whittaker Scholl and Arthur Scholl Sr.; brother of Suzie Johnson and the late 
Bobby Scholl; and brother-in-law of Jordan Johnson and Rose Drummond. He is 
also survived by nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Lakeview 
Regional Medical Center ICU for their loving care and support of his family and 
friends.

A special thanks to Concerned Care Hospice, especially Carol, Michelle, Linda 
and Laura. They have been part of the family for 2 1/2 years.

Arthur was a member of Church of the King where he was taught the Bible and was 
loved by many. He was a retired member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union 
Local 60.

A celebration of his life will was held at the Scholl family property in 
Ponchatoula (Bedico) on Saturday. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Capital One Bank on his 
behalf.

Dorothy Jean Walters White passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009. 

She was born December 22, 1959 in New Orleans and was a resident of Slidell at 
the time of her death.

The beloved wife of Steve W. White, she is survived by her mother and step-
father, Eugene and Augustine Hollis Cantrelle; her son, Steve White, Jr.; one 
daughter, Jennifer White; step-son, Danny White; step-daughter, Christy White; 
four brothers: Bobby Couture (Liz), Glen Couture (Collette), Clifton Couture 
(Kelly) and Steven Couture (Doreen); one sister, Karen Couture; step-brother, 
Jude Cantrelle; step-sister, Hope Buras (Brad) and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Walters, Jr.

June Rivet Borgstede, 82, of Lacombe, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009, at 
Northshore Regional Medical Center in Slidell.

She was the beloved wife of the late Clarence W. Borgstede; mother of Bonnie B. 
DeShazo and Susan B. Koenig; mother-in-law of Harold L. DeShazo Jr. and Guy A. 
Koenig; and the daughter of the late Urban P. Rivet and Conjetta Domilise 
Rivet. She was also the grandmother of Christian C. Koenig (Alana), Mich-ael L. 
DeShazo (Michele) and Justin P. Koenig (Brittney); and the great-grandmother of 
Allie, Grace, Jackson and Gavin Koenig. She was the sister of Urban P. Rivet 
Jr., and the late Catherine R. Winstine.

She was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Lacombe for the past 31 
years. Borgstede was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacombe 
and a member of the Lacombe Senior Citizens and the Happy Hour Club of Slidell.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral Mass at 
noon Thursday at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. W., Slidell. 
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon.

Brent Patrick Caillet, beloved husband of 34 years to Sharon Lirette Caillet, 
lost his courageous battle with lung cancer on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the 
age of 55. 

He once said, "I would be nothing without all of my family."

Father and best friend of Christy Caillet Steib and her husband Wayne, and 
Tracy Caillet Gisclair and her husband Terrel. Son of Jack and Mercedes 
Caillet. Son-in-law of June Lirette and the late Sidney Lirette. Loving 
Grandfather (Pawsy) of Alyssa, Brock and Brent Steib and Abby and Ally 
Couvillion. He is remembered and loved by family and many friends, including

Naquyn, Debra Schmitt, Theresa Fontenot, Jane Falgout and Ramona Lucas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dolores and Forrest Kieff Sr.;

David Earl "Turtle" Robinson, a resident of Perryville, Ark., and a longtime 
resident of Covington and Tylertown, Miss., died at his home in Perryville, 
April 7, 2009.

He is survived by his wife, Amy; two daughters, Natasha (Rodney) Payne of 
Tylertown, Miss., Alicia (Randy) Payne of Forth Worth, Texas; his mother and 
stepfather Betty S. and James W. Merritt of Pine; two sisters, Cynthia Gibson 
of Mendenhall, Miss., and Deborah Plescia of Covington; two brothers Jerry L. 
Merritt of Pine and William E. Merritt of Wilmington, N.C.

He is also survived by two stepsons, Ryan and Mitchell Saunders, and three 
grandchildren, Jade, Scarlett and Aaron.

He was preceded in death by his son, Silas E. Robinson, and his beloved adopted 
father, William H. Merritt.

Memorial services were held on April 10 at the First Baptist Church in 
Perryville, Ark.

John Arla Hood, age 66, passed into our Lord's arms on Thursday, April 16, 2009 
at the Balloon Fiesta Park in Albuquerque, NM.

He retired from the Volunteers of America as President of the VOA National 
Housing Corp as well as corporate Vice-President of the national office of 
Volunteers of America. He also served as Director of sheltered workshops for 
the homeless alcoholic men in Indianapolis, IN and Louisville, KY. During his 
retirement years he served on the Advisory Board of Community Housing Corp. of 
Minneapolis, MN. He was a lifetime member of the Gulf Coast Conservation 
Association and an avid fisherman.

He was a native of Hammond, LA and a resident of Covington, LA. He is survived 
by his beloved wife, Barbara Bretz Hood, sons John Louis and David Lawrence 
Hood, grandson John Alan Hood and granddaughters Alexandra Marie and Kristen 
Angelle Hood and brother James Robin Hood.

AJUBITA, AGUSTIN DOMINGO 
(May 9, 1914 - April 17, 2009)

Agustin Domingo Ajubita passed away on Friday, April 17, 2009. 

He was born May 9, 1914 in Marquina, Spain to the late Domingo and Matilda 
Aspiazu Ajubita and has been a resident of Covington since 1970.

The beloved husband of the late, Erin Fuge Ajubita; he is survived by his 
brother, Captain Adolph M. Ajubita and one sister, Maria L. Franklin. He was 
preceded in death by two brothers: Joseph M. and Alfonso M. Ajubita and one 
sister, Beatriz M. Whited.

Mr. Ajubita lived most his life in New Orleans under the employment of The 
United Fruit Co. as a Ship Master. He also served the U.S. Merchant Marines in 
this capacity during WW II and holds the rank of Commander with the U.S. 
Maritime Service. He was Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus, a dedicated 
parishioner of St. Anselm Catholic Church and was instrumental in establishing 
the Weldon Wallace Poole Volunteer Fire Deptartment on Highway 21.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass on 
Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral

CAMPORA

Concettina Marie Lombardo Xampora, born to Domenica Lonatro and Phillippo 
Lombardo on Jan. 10, 1922, departed this life on April 14, 2009, in Memphis, 
Tenn., at the age of 87.

She was the loving wife of John Anthony Campora for 33 years who preceded her 
in death. She was also preceded in death by her loving sister, Antonina 
Lombardo Ravain.

She is survived two daughters, Linda Campora Guidry and Carolyn Campora 
Schutten; five grandchildren; Leila, Farrah, Serena Guidry, Melissa Schutten 
Rose (Glenn), Maryanne Schutten Jarrell (Joshua); and one great grandson, Noah 
Scott Jarrell. She is also survived by her brother, Frank Lombardo of New 
Orleans, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

She has been a resident of Slidell since 1968 and a New Orleans resident 
previous to that. She retired from K & B in New Orleans after 45 years of loyal 
service as a secretary. In Slidell she belonged to the XYZ Club, Happy Hour, 
AARP and Mall Walkers. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. She 
graduated from Ursuline Academy and Soule Business School.

She was living at Millington Nursing Home for the last several months near her 
daughter Linda Guidry. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. We 
will cherish her memory and the memories she gave us.

Betty Ann Pichon Clark ended her bout with liver cancer at the young age of 59 
on Thursday, April 9, 2009, at her home in Slidell. 

Services will be held Saturday at Mt. Olive AME Church, 2457 Second St., 
Slidell. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Service will begin at 12:30 
p.m.

She was the daughter of the late Augusta and Beatrice Pichon. She was also 
preceded in death by her two sisters, Barbara J. Pichon and Edna Pichon.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, Harry Clark Jr.; daughter, Denise 
Gray; sons, Jeffery Pichon, Anthony Pichon of Slidell, Harold Clark of Kentucky 
and Daryl Clark of Chicago; brothers, Augustin Pichon Jr. and Lucien Pichon of 
St. Louis, Hermon Pichon, Jerry Pichon and Herbert Pichon of Slidell; 13 
grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a host of other relatives and friends.

Following the funeral service, repast will be at the home of Lydia and Alphonse

COOK

Joan M. Cook, 80, beloved wife and mother, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 
2009, at Camellia Gardens Retirement Community.

Cook was born in Philadelphia on Oct. 25, 1928. When she was 6 years old, her 
family moved to Syracuse, N.Y. After graduating from Nottingham High School, 
she attended Mary Washington College. On Dec. 27, 1949, she married Gorton C. 
Cook of Syracuse and then moved to San Diego while her husband attended and 
graduated from San Diego State University. Subsequently, her husband, Gorton 
accepted an officer's commission in the U.S. Marine Corps.

For the next 31 years, Joan enjoyed and actively participated in Officer's 
Wives Club functions, while her husband served his country. His assignments 
dictated extensive travel and residences throughout the United States with her 
family. One such tour was in Taiwan for two years. Additionally, Joan held 
various positions in the Republican Women's Associations. Joan also found time 
to be a Cub Scout Den Mother for her sons, Peter and Phillip.

Even from early childhood, Joan pursued her love for horses and English riding. 
So much so, that after her husband's retirement from the Marine Corps, she 
established Magnolia Forest Stables in Pearl River, which she operated for 10 
years as owner/trainer and teacher. She was also a member for LA Hunter Jumper 
Association, co-founder of the Gulfcoast Show Circuit and a registered steward 
for the American Horse Show Association.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Gorton C. Cook; her son, 
Peter G., both of Slidell; her sister-in-law, Betty Cook of Lady Lake, Fla.; 
and her brother G. Robert McAllister and his family of Cazenovia, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her youngest son Phillip G.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service at 
1 p.m. on Wednesday at Christ Episcopal Church, 1534 Seventh St., Slidell. A 
memorial gathering will follow the service at the church.

Frederick Thomas Thornton, 88, of Mt. Sterling, Ky., died Thursday morning at 
Lexington V.A. Medical Center. 

He was born on Sept. 3, 1920, in Chester, Pa., to the late Frederick and Helen 
Thornton.

The Thorntons relocated to Mt. Sterling 3 1/2 years ago from Slidell following 
Hurricane Katrina. 

Mr. Thornton was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling, a 
retired mechanic and a U.S. Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Delia Thornton of Mt. Sterling; son, Frederick 
Thornton (America) of Slidell; two daughters, JoAnn Shipp (Jim) of Mt. Sterling 
and Rita Relan (Anthony) of Slidell.; a brother, Joseph Thornton (Betty) of Ft. 
Myers, Fla.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Maria 
Esposito.

A memorial service will be held Monday, April 20 at 11:30 a.m. at the First 
Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 11-11:30 a.m. Arrangements are under the direct care of 
Coffman Mortuary Parlor in Kentucky.

Richard Aubrey Coleman passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2009 in Covington, 
LA.

Rich Coleman is from Washington, DC and has been a professional musician for 39 
years. The only son of an accomplished violinist, Rich began his music studies 
at 7 years of age. He studied the violin for seven years. When he turned 14 
years old, he switched to drums and percussion and studied with Bill Chisholm, 
one of Washington, DC's most respected show drummers.

On his 16th birthday, Rich completed a music audition in front of a panel of 
musicians representing the American Federation of Musicians Local 161-710 in 
Washington, DC. He then started performing with his father's 17 piece group 
composed of a 5 piece rhythm section and 12 strolling violins. The group known 
as the "Strolling Strings" was very much in demand in the Washington area in 
private and political circles. The group performed at many Washington, DC 
hotels and on Capital Hill for members of Congress. Rich has shared the stage 
with many of Washington, DC's finest musicians including: Guitarist Billy 
Gibson of the Gibson Guitar Company, Violinist Rut Hawn, father of Actress 
Goldie Hawn, and Bruce Steig, the principle piano player and conductor of the 
Metropolitan Opera Company.

While in college in Daytona Beach, Florida, Rich performed with various 
musicians and groups including nationally renowned jazz pianist Dave McKenna 
and Lead Trumpet Player Don Trube of the Buddy Morrow Orchestra who recorded 
the hit song "Night Train".

On the local scene, Rich has performed with the jazz trio he formed in 2005 in 
the Mandeville and Covington area. Known as the Bob Ellis Trio, the group 
composed of piano, bass and drums, is recognized as the best jazz and easy 
listening trio on the Northshore. Bob Ellis on piano and vocals has performed 
locally at the Royal Orleans Hotel for 12 years as a single entertainer. When 
joining Rich Coleman on drums and John Gillis on bass, the group transforms 
into a very sophisticated listening as well as dancing experience.

Bob Ellis has performed with Steve Lawrence and Eyde Gorme on the NBC Today 
Show in New York and the Copa Cabana Club in New York City, as well as many 
venues all over the world with the United States Air Force Band.

John Gillis who is a Dentist by profession is from Terre Haute, Indiana. John 
is also an accomplished jazz musician and has performed with many groups in 
Indianapolis, Indiana. He moved to New Orleans in the early 70's and has 
performed with many local musicians including the Herb Tassin Orchestra at the 
Fairmont Hotel's Blue Room in New Orleans. Dr. Gillis has also performed at the 
Steak Knife on Harrison Avenue in Lakeview with his own modern jazz group known 
as "Absolute Brew".

The Bob Ellis Trio has a 3,000 song repertoire and performs music from 
America's Great Song Book and love songs from many countries around the world 
including the worlds most beautiful bosa novas from Brazil.

The trio performed at D.Lamarque's Italian Restaurant in Mandeville for 14 
months as well as Benjamin's Bistro in Covington, LA during the Friday Night 
Block parties. The group has also performed locally at Keith Young's Supper 
Club in Madisonville and Crown Plaza Hotel in New Orleans.

In addition to being an accomplished musician, Rich Coleman is an aviation 
professional and flys for the Department of Homeland Security as a Federal 
Officer and pilot. He graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 
1975 with a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Science. He started flying when 
he was 16 years old paying for flying lessons from his music performances. Rich 
earned his Private Pilot License at 17 years of age before entering college. 
Rich achieved all his FAA Pilot Certificates at the minimum age by law, 
including the Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, the highest grade of pilot 
license issued by the FAA at the age of 23. He holds six instructor ratings and 
has logged over 11,525 hours in 42 types of aircraft including 2,700 hours in 
jets. Rich has been a pilot for the Federal Government for 22 years.

Rich is also a Shriner and does volunteer work for Jerry Lewis.

Age 56 years, a native of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Rich has been a resident in 
Beau Chene for the last five years.

He was the beloved son of Richard Adam Coleman and his wife Donna, and he was 
preceded in death by his mother, Joan Ritchie Coleman.

20, 2009 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W.

Charlene L. Sanders succumbed to Mercle Cell Carcinoma, of which there is no 
known cure, on Saturday, April 18, 2009. 

She was 85 years old.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Herbert C. Sanders, a 
retired civil engineer; one son, Judge Richard B. Sanders of the Washington 
State Supreme Court; and her granddaughter, Laura, a graduating senior from the 
University of San Francisco.

Mrs. Sanders retired from teaching at Covington High School and held both a 
Bachelor and Master's Degree from Southeastern University. She was dedicated 
member of the American Association of University Women and was a resident of 
Tchefuncta Club Estates in St. Tammany.

She is also survived by many relatives and friends in Houma, Alexandria, 
California and Washington State.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. 

Healthcare treatment was provided by Journey Hospice.

her residence in Sun, LA.

Age 73 years, Warrene was a native of New Orleans, LA, and she had been a 
resident of Sun, LA for the past 27 years.

Marion H. Schorr Brown, a resident of Christwood Nursing Facility of Covington, 
LA, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2009 of heart complications.

Born in New Orleans, March 13, 1920, of John Michael (brew master of Regal 
Beer, N.O.) and Wilhelmina Southerland Schorr. She was preceded in death by her 
parents, brother Edmund Schorr, Sr. and husband Jack D. Brown. 

She is survived by two sons: Richard S. and Kay Betzler of Ohio and Michael D. 
and Susan Betzler of Alabama; two grandchildren: Stacie M. Champa and 
Christopher L. Betzler and one great-grandchild: Jessica R. Champa.

Mrs. Brown was a member / supporter of the La. Episcopal Diocese through, Grace 
Memorial, Christwood and Mt. Olivet. 

She was a member of The Ninety-Nines (Women's International Org. of Pilots), 
The WASP (Women's Air Service Pilots -WW II), USAF, Tri Sigma Service Sorority, 
Civil Air Patrol, and countless others. Raised in New Orleans (Algiers, later, 
Lakefront area), attended SW La. (now, Univ. of La., Lafayette) and then taught 
at John McDonogh H.S., and worked summers at Higgins Ship Builders for two 
years. 

During her time in college, she attended CPTP (Civilian Pilot Training Program) 
which launched her into the aviation main-stream as one of the first, military 
/ professional, female pilots. Serving in WW II as a WASP and later, onto the 
USAF, as a pilot, she continued to be instrumental in general aviation for over 
fifty years. Her efforts and time to this endeavor included the fields of 
General (Private), Corporate and Military aviation. Marion inspired and lead 
aviation via, Flight Instruction, Chief of flight operations and FAA Flight 
Inspector. Mrs. Brown was also a participant of multiple Women's' Air Races, 
(Powder Puff Derby and Angel Derby) - in which she won, from Canada to Cuba in 
1956. 

Her love, dedication and caring-ways with family, friends and community, will 
be missed, yet, a guide to live by and a welcomed friend in the Everlasting.

Memorial services will be held at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church in Hammond, 
La. on Saturday, May 23, 2009; Visitation at 11:00 a.m., Service at 12:00 noon.

Internment by family at Grace Memorial Cemetery following.

DUNLEAVY, MILDRED HEARTSFIELD 
(April 6, 1923 - April 20, 2009)

Mildred Heartsfield Dunleavy passed away on Monday, April 20, 2009. She was 
born April 6, 1923 in Jacksonville, FL where she lived until 1970 when she 
moved to Monticello, FL. She resided in Monticello until 2002 and then moved to 
Mandeville, LA.

Her parents, Robert Lee and Myrtle Cook Heartsfield; as well as two brothers, 
Donald Heartsfield and Robert Lee, Jr. preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Robert Dunleavy and his fiancˇe Deborah Knorr of 
Mandeville as well as her dog "Dexter".

Mildred was a Registered Nurse, earning her license from St. Jude Hospital in 
Jacksonville in 1943. She worked in the medical industry until her retirement 
in 1990. She loved animals, nature, bird watching reading and gardening.

Committal services will be held at the St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery.

Thomas A. Cuff, 67, lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, April 19, 2009, 
surrounded in his home by his loving wife Judith M. Cuff, his two sons, Thomas 
W. Cuff and Joseph M. Cuff and his daughter, Judi M. Cuff.

He was the father-in-law of Dominique Cuff; grandfather of Aidan and Liam Cuff 
and son of the late Joseph M. and Emma P. Cuff. He was the brother of Margaret 
Mahaffey, Kathryn Cuff, Mary Snyder and the late Joseph Cuff and Anne Marie 
Cuff.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Thomas was a native of Mt. Carmel, Penn., and a resident of Mandeville. Thomas 
was employed by Northrop Grumman Shipyard in Avondale since 1990.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian 
Burial will be held at Mary Queen of Peace, 1501 West Causeway Approach, 
Mandeville, on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held at

She is also survived by seven grandchildren: William, Stephen, Allison, Taylor, 
Connor, Jacob and Joshua, and her devoted caregiver Debra Lott.

Dr. Reynaud was preceded in death by her husband Leo J. Vallette, M.D.

A native of Marksville and a resident of Lacombe since 1967, Dr. Reynaud was a 
graduate of Louisiana State University School of Medicine and former director 
of Jefferson and St. Tammany Parish Health Units.

Elmer Alvin Snell passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2009.

pediatric AIDS Program.

past 18 years.

Joseph C. Fontenot Sr., 80, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Slidell 
Memorial Hospital. 

Fontenot was born in Holden and was a lifelong resident of Pearl River.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Fontenot; one son, Joseph C. Fontenot Jr.; 
four daughters, Joann Shill, Marilyn Shill, Thyra Younce and Pamela Baragona;

Noel and Melonie Picou. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 great-
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lucien Ameluse Fontenot; mother, 
"Annie" Josephine Fontenot; brothers, J.W., Carter, Thomas and Jimmy Fontenot; 
and sisters, Eronie Rousseau, Rosalie Reine and Elouise Caro.

Services were held Tuesday at D.T. Williams Funeral Home in Pearl River. 
Interment followed in Hickory Memorial Gardens in Pearl River.

The family extends special thanks to the East Wing of Slidell Memorial Hospital 
for taking excellent care of "Pops."

Dannie Lee Addison Mailhos Matthews, 70, of Copperas Cove, Texas, passed away 
Friday, April 17, 2009, at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. 

A private family service followed by interment was held Monday at Central Texas 
State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.

Matthews was born Nov. 10, 1938, in Covington. She was married to Billy R. 
Matthews Sept. 11, 1975, in Covington. She worked for Winn Dixie and A&P 
Grocery Stores. She was also a homemaker.

She was the daughter of Leo and Eugenia Addison and graduated from Lyon High 
School in Covington. She was the mother of Margaret "Cindy" McLain (Keith) of 
Covington, Alecia A. Johnson (Shannon) of Abita Springs, Kenneth D. Mailhos 
(Melinda) of Enon and Erwin E. Mailhos of Covington; and sister of Roberta 
Boutwell of Covington and Donald Addison of Harrison, Ark. She is also survived 
by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and sister, Marie A. Carter.

George Dewy Grass, Jr. passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the age of 
87.

Beloved husband of Teresa Tonglet Grass. Devoted father of Patricia Furgeson, 
Cathy Wayne, Richard Grass, Robert Grass and George Grass, III. Son of the late 
Josie Saucier Grass and George Dewy Grass, Sr. Brother of Joseph Grass and 
Lucille Boston. Also survived by eight grandchildren and eleven great-
grandchildren.

Mr. Grass was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Bush for the past seven 
years, a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II and past American Legion Post 203 Commander 
and also a member of the American Legion 40 and 8. He was a retired machinist 
with City of New Orleans.

Raymond Robert Abney Sr., 75, died on April 22, 2009, at Forrest General 
Hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss. 

He was born on Dec. 20, 1933, in New Orleans and was the youngest child of the 
late Robert "Ralph" Abney and Lillian "Gertrude" Ragan Abney. A long-time 
resident of St. Bernard Parish, Abney had resided in Purvis, Miss., since 2005.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Gaynel Ann Abney Rogers; 
brothers, Melvin Abney and Donald Abney; and sisters, Lillian Nunez, Velma 
Saran and Fay Melancon.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 53 years, Clothilde Anysia Hingle 
Abney; his beloved son, Raymond Robert Abney Jr.; his son-in-law, Wade E. 
Rogers; seven grandchildren, Tiffany, Raymond III, Clothilde and husband, 
Jimmy, Bobbye-Girl, Ralph II, Ross and Jesse James; four great-grandchildren, 
Emily, Raechel, Raymond IV and Trˇ; sisters, Iris Farrell and Shirley Birrcher; 
brother, Richard Abney and his wife, Carol; sister-in-law, Mary Willhoft; and 
brother-in-law, Ronald Hingle and his wife, Debbie.

Abney served his country with honor in the LNG and U.S. Army Reserve. He was 
retired from the Orleans Parish School Board and was a member of Our Lady of 
Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Lumberton, Miss.

A devout Catholic, his reward has been prepared in Heaven where he will await 
the reunion with his loving wife.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Moore Funeral Home in Purvis with 
entombment following in Roseland Park Mausoleum in Hattiesburg.

of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell for over 30 years, 
Dottie was a former employee of Alltel Inc. on Gause Blvd. in Slidell.

Dottie fought a courageous 2 1/2 year battle against cervical cancer, receiving 
excellent healthcare assistance from Dr. Agustin Suarez and the medical staff 
at Slidell Memorial Hospital.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause 
Blvd., (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell.

HUGHES James W. Hughes III, of Kenner, Louisiana passed away on Monday, April 
27, 2009, at the age of 66.

He was born on August 16, 1942, in New Orleans, Louisiana to James Wellington 
Hughes, Jr. and Alice Laborde Hughes. He was a graduate of Jesuit High School 
and attended Loyola University. Jim's passion for golf lead him to a career as 
a manufacturer's representative for Golfwear. He was a member of Colonial 
Country Club and the Louisiana Scratch Golfer's Tour.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 
20 years, Margaret Hughes, with Prudential Gardner Realtors; daughters: Lauri 
Beard, Beth Szewc and Stacey Vogel; his sister, Yvonne ("Beth") Maestri; and 
his brother, Vic Hughes. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Ryan 
Beard, Megan Beard, Benjamin Szewc and Aleks Vogel.

Jeffrey "Jeff" James Hebert, 69, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the 
age of 69. 

Jeff was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell.

He was the beloved husband of Kathleen "Kathy" Pynes Hebert of 37 years; father 
of Rachel Delia Perkoff; son of the late Ruth Haspel and Herman Hebert; and 
brother of Kathleen Calderone and Charmaine Hebert. He is also survived by 
aunts Iola Young, Lareah Denoux and Velma Whitty as well as one uncle, cousins 
and a niece.

Jeff was an avid fisherman with a love of the water. He was proud to be 
Commodore in the year 2000 for Tammany Yacht Club in Slidell. Jeff was a 
longtime realtor and contractor.

A memorial Mass was held Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 
Slidell. A reception followed at Tammany Yacht Club, Slidell.

Reuble E. Jenkins, age 78 and a lifelong resident of Covington, LA died early 
Wednesday morning at his home in Barker's Corner Community.

He was a retired chief cook for McDermott Inc. and helped in the establishment 
of the Lee Road Volunteer Fire Dept. He was well known in the area for help 
with charity barbeques and cookouts.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rowena G. Jenkins; 3 children, Eddie, 
David and Tammey; 2 daughters-in-law, Dorothy and Theresa; 7 grandchildren, 
Corey, Matthew, Tony, Zachery, Brigitte, Tanya and Christy; 5 great-
grandchildren Ryan, Tucker, Tyler, Cayden and Raven; 7 brothers and sisters, 
Wilson, Tom, Hansel, Showalter, Joy, Irma and Aliene. Preceded in death by his 
parents, Charles and Gertrude Jenkins and 6 brothers and sisters, Wylie, 
Raymond, Doyle, Adrian, Pearlie and Vernie. He is also survived by many more 
loving family and friends.

Jean Grace Kelly died April 29th at the age of 79 after a long battle with 
Alzheimer's. 

Jean Kelly was born October 12, 1929 in Ashley, North Dakota, to the late 
Virgil Collins and Margaret (Johnstone) Collins.

She lived most of her life in Louisiana but always loved North Dakota and the 
Midwest.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Hugh John Kelly and her brother Roy 
Collins.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory five children: Pamela (Ed) Van Hoven, 
Michael (Elaine) Kelly, Patricia (Bud) Beyer, Kevin (Vicky) Kelly, and Shawn 
(Elizabeth) Kelly. She also leaves eight grandchildren: Jessica, Joshua, Colin, 
Amy, Hannah, Rose, Sophia, and Chloe.

Jean's greatest gift to all was unconditional love. She gave it not only to her 
family but also to most everyone else she met. Jean made you feel loved no 
matter who you were or what you did. She had a way of embracing total strangers 
and making them feel like family. All will miss her intensely. Few people have 
this unique quality. She was deeply loved by everyone who came in contact with 
her -including people from whom she bought groceries or gas.

Viewing will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, May 4, 2009 at the St. Joseph Abbey 
Christian Life Center (Just past the cathedral on the left) located at 75376 
River Road, St. Covington, LA. Funeral to follow at 2:00.

Pearl Eleanor Johnson Trapani, age 85 years, died Thursday, April 30, 2009.

Most devoted and loving wife for 68 years of August G. Trapani, Jr., she is 
also survived by her children Judy T. Hummel (Ki), Joan T. Ibos (Emile), Tim 
Trapani,Theresa T. Jolissaint (Mark),Melissa T. Porretto (Lloyd),and Angela T. 
Luksch (Chris). Also left to cherish her memory are 22 grandchildren and 23 
great-grandchildren. Pearl was preceded in death by her sons Charles G. 
Trapani, Sr., and Christopher Trapani and two sisters Dorothy J. Collins and 
Janet J. Lorenz. She was the daughter of the late Elmer Johnson and Myrtle 
Perrilloux Johnson Jenkins and the beloved stepdaughter of the late Charles 
Jenkins.

Pearl was a native of Covington later residing in the Folsom area. She was a 
parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Folsom and a member of 
the St. Tammany Hospital Guild. On February 2, 1941, Pearl and Gus' marriage 
ceremony was the first to be celebrated at the present St. Peter Catholic 
Church, which was their family church for many years.

St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 E. 19th Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Monday, May

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Honaker Funeral Home, Slidell. 
Interment followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Dottie to Children's 
Hospital in New Orleans.
