She was born April 3, 1947 in Hamburg, Germany and has been a resident of St. Tammany since 1973. The beloved wife of Thomas M. Burns, II, she is survived by her mother, Luieselotte Strohschein Garske; her daughter, Heidi Luiese Burns; one step-son, Thomas M. A native of Metairie she resided in Covington for the past 45 years. The beloved wife of Ernest J. Cole, Sr., she is survived by one brother, Walter E. Smith, Jr. (Norma) of Metairie; three children: Susan Hargroder (Michael) of Dumfries, VA, Rebecca Cole of Mandeville, Ernie, Jr. (Ellen) of Covington and four grandchildren: Lydia Hargroder, Savanna, Mason, Caroline and Spencer Cole. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter E. and Mercedes Tharpe Smith; one brother, George Smith; her daughter, Vicki Cole Hartong and one granddaughter, Chandler Cole Prudhomme. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother and friend known for her thoughtful gestures, sweet personality, good humor, and genuine caring for others. She will be fondly remembered for her love of cooking, finding the perfect gift for any occasion, her uncanny luck at cards with the girls and her warm hugs. He was the beloved husband of Mary Hill Coppola for 49 years; father of James Joseph Coppola, Jeannette Coppola Kleck and the late Joanne Mary Coppola Kaufmann; son of the late Joseph Coppola and Eleanora Dudenhefer; and brother of Beverly Mueller and the late George Ruiz. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Candace Kaufmann, Kyle Kaufmann, Jake Kaufmann, Austin Kleck and Alex Kleck. He is the father-in-law of Fabious "Buck" Kleck and Stephen Kaufmann; and brother-in-law of Ernest Mueller, Nettie and Sam Burguieres. He is also survived by nieces nephews and other relatives. Coppola was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Lake Catherine. He was a commercial fisherman who loved the lake and to hunt and fish. He was a very generous and loving person. He was born in Denver, Colo., on Dec. 17, 1924. He was a Naval veteran who served during World War II in the Pacific Theater earning two battle stars. He graduated from Colorado University as an electrical engineer. He retired from Lockheed-Martin where he worked in the aerospace and military arms divisions. He was a long time resident of of Slidell, who moved to Hammond two years ago. He was married to Mary Mangus for 56 years. He is survived by his five children, Raymond Mangus Jr., of Florida; Kay Holmes, Charles, Patrick & John Mangus and five grandchildren. She was a volunteer at Slidell Memorial Hospital for many years, where she was a member of its scholarship committee and served as membership chairman for the hospital auxillary. She was a member of T.R.O.A. Ladies Auxiliary and active in the St. Tammany Literacy Program and Christian Community Concern. She was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and an active member of AARP Chapter 4716 and its Doll Restoration program. Her hobbies were fishing and gambling, with big fish and small wagers. He was born September 2, 1922 to the late Rusaw and Agnes Fitzmorris Jenkins and has been a life resident of St. Tammany Parish. The beloved husband of the late Gertrude Mendow Jenkins, he is survived by three daughters: Judy J. Cazaux (Lester), Barbara J. Sharp (Kenzie) and Marsha J. Carter (Wayne); his sister, Clara J. Born in Slidell, he was a local resident since 1991. Shane was a 1997 graduate of Midland Valley High School and had been employed at Bridgestone as a machine technician for the last three years. He attended True North Church. Shane enjoyed playing video games, watching wrestling, playing a round of golf and riding his motorcycle and was an avid LSU fan. Shane enjoyed all the things previously listed but more than anything, he enjoyed playing and spending time with his children. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his father, Timothy T. He was the beloved husband of Lula Mae Johnson; son of the late Edgar Sr. and Sedonia Weston Johnson; and father of Zachary (Shalanda) Johnson, Janice (Billy) Odom, Eileen (Shawn) Johnson, Tonya (James) Johnson and the late Edgar Allen (Renee) Johnson. In 1984 the Haskins moved to Slidell where Kim taught pre-school at Appletree for 15 years. She was a member of St Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in Slidell. She enjoyed camping and hiking. Although she lost her battle with cancer she remained victorious in life and will be deeply missed. Known as "Mom" to many of her daughters' friends, she dedicated her life to her family and friends and always found room for "just one more" at her table, in her home and in her heart. Her family believes that it was deeply fitting that she be called home to the Lord on Mother's Day. A deeply spiritual woman, Carol was an active member of St. Margaret Mary Church for 32 years.
