John Frederick "Fred" Clement passed away on October 1, 2009. A long time 
resident of Covington, he was born October 13, 1945 in New Orleans to the late 
John Voryce and Harriet Cady Clement.

The beloved husband of Elizabeth "Betty" Siren Clement for 24 years, he is 
survived by the mother of his children, Gwendolyn Cosgrove Clement; three sons: 
Jeffrey Noel (Ashely), Timothy Andrew (Donna) and Jody Emmanuel Clement 
(Angela); two daughters, Wendy Love Lathrop and Ginger Clement Foy and one 
sister, Sandra Clement Nardelle (Warren). He is the grandfather of Hayden, 
Trinity, Noelle, Cady, Timmy, Toby, Drew, Cory, Elise, Milan and Kaelan. He is 
also survived by a host of extended family and close friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
at 8:00 PM on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 
21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433.

Visiting hours will begin at 5:00 PM.

Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society,

HOFF

Herman Gust Hoff, 74, passed away Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, surrounded by his 
loving family.

He is survived by his four children; son, Steven Hoff and daughter-in-law, 
Sherri Hoff; daughter, Darlene Landaiche and son-in-law, Ron Landaiche III; 
daughter, Marlene Hoff and son, Brandon Hoff and daughter-in-law, Eileen Hoff; 
four grandchildren, Brandon, Ian, Michael and Beaux; brothers, Milbert, 
Clarence, Alton and Jake.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Marie Pilet Hoff; his 
parents, Jacob J. Hoff and Lydia Arnold Hoff; brothers Reuben and Erving; and 
sisters, Ida, Christine, Ann and Hilda.

He grew up in Aberdeen, S.D., and was drafted into the U.S. Army during the 
Korean War. He worked as a longshoreman on the New Orleans waterfront until his 
retirement, then moved to Slidell and remained there the rest of his life. 

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. today at Seale Funeral Home, 1720 South 
Range Ave. in Denham Springs, with a Christian service immediately following.

HOFFMANN

Glen D. Hoffmann, 59, of Slidell, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009.

He was the beloved husband of Jeanne Breaux Hoffmann; father of Glen D. 
Hoffmann Jr. (wife Allison), Matthew D. Hoffmann (wife Jennifer), and Jessica 
M. Hoffmann; son of Warren F. Hoffmann Sr., and Gloria Hoffmann and brother of 
Warren F. Hoffmann Jr. (wife Willie) and Bryen J. Hoffmann (wife Sally). He is 
also survived by four grandchildren, Hailey Hoffmann, Kristina Hoffmann, Jack 
Hoffmann and Peyton Hoffmann; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters 
in law and other relatives.

He was a native of New Orleans, and a resident of Slidell since 1984.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., at St. John of the 
Cross Catholic Church, 61051 Brier Lake Drive, in Lacombe. Friends may visit at 
the church beginning at 10 a.m.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Octavio Gonzalez Memorial Foundation, 626 
Carmener Drive, Kenner, LA 70065.

Donald G. Sharp, 71, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009.

He was the beloved husband of Linda M. Sharp; father of Donna Marie Nieves-
Flores, Jacquelynn Francis Sikes, Terri Ann Wedeking, and Dawn Rivera; son of 
the late, Cleo and Sophia Sharp; brother of Richard Sharp, Cleo A. Sharp, David 
E. Sharp, James A. Sharp, Mark W. Sharp, Juanita S. Robson and the late Karen 
Hogue. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren;

He was a native of Ottawa, Ill., and a resident of Pearl River for the past 39 
years. He was a member of Slidell Lodge 311 Free and Accepted Masons, High 
Priest of Pontchartrain Chapter 68, R.A.M., member of Slidell Council 48, 
R.S.M., and Commander of C.A. Everett Commandery 29, and a member of the New 
Orleans Temple Guard, Knights Templar.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral.

Masonic services will be held at 6 p.m. today at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 
Gause Blvd. W. (in the Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell. Friends may visit after 
the service until 9 p.m. Inurnment of his remains will be in Biloxi National 
Cemetery.

U.S. Veteran Ray Hammock Triplett passed away on Friday, October 2, 2009.

Beloved father of Frances Faye Ernst and her husband Charles, William N. 
Triplett and his wife Cinda and John L. Triplett; brother to Jo Nugent; and 
grandfather of six and great grandfather of three. He was preceded in death by 
his wife, Helen Carpenter Triplett; his son, Stephen H. Triplett; his mother, 
Bertha Hammock Triplett; his father, Nathan Triplett; and brother, Cecil 
Triplett.

Age 89 years, he was a native of Noxubee County, MS and a resident of 
Mandeville, LA for the past 37 years. He was a World War II veteran having 
served in the United States Navy.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend memorial services on 
Monday, October 5, 2009 at 3:00 PM at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 335 
Asbury Drive, Mandeville, LA 70448.

WILLIE

Eva "Patty" Laird Willie, 72, of Ponchatoula, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at 
her residence. 

She was born Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1937, in Natalbany, daughter of the late 
Oliver and Bernice Bertus Laird.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Jackie B. Willie, Byron 
and Gloria C. Willie; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and John Buckley; nine 
grandchildren, Angela Allen, Brandy Daniels, Lindsey Bertaut, Robin Willie, 
Roxanne Willie, Hunter Lehmann, Wesley Lehmann, Meagan Lehmann and James 
Buckley; three great-grandchildren, Christopher Allen, Hayden Allen and Byron 
Gideon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Berton Willie.

Funeral services were held yesterday at the Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home 
in Ponchatoula, with the Rev. David Cranford officiating.

Interment was in the Willie Cemetery in Folsom.

CARPENTER, DAVID W 
September 18, 1945 - October 3, 2009 	

David Wilson Carpenter passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the age of 
64. 

David was a native of Hattiesburg, MS and a resident of Luling and Pearl 
River, LA. 

Beloved husband of Krista Ross Carpenter. Father of Kayce Carpenter 
Sisson, Scott Ross Carpenter and Katherine Anne Carpenter. Son of the late Anna 
Morgan Carpenter and Woodrow Wilson Carpenter. Brother of Anna Lynne Saucier 
and Sarah Ann Clark. Grandfather of Spencer Ross Morse. Also survived by nieces 
and nephews.

David was a United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, he was retired from 
Exxon Mobile Refinery, a member of the Camp Villere Hunting Club, and a member 
of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 5174.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation in the chapel of 
Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Road, Covington, LA 70435 on Wednesday, 
October 7, 2009 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Interment will be private.

A Celebration of David's Life will be held at his residence located at 326

Hermina F. Conrad, 79, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at St. Tammany 
Parish Hospital.

She was the beloved wife of George H. Conrad Sr. for the past 61 years; mother 
of George H. Conrad Jr., Kathy C. Nunez and husband Sidney Nunez and Donald 
Conrad and wife Carmen Conrad; sister of Joyce Vandebrook, Yvonne Calloway, 
Susie Parrish, Lovita Kister and the late Silvia Robertson and Herman Knetch 
Jr.; and also survived by six grandchildren, Christopher and Geoffrey Conrad, 
Holly Chesnut, Donald Conrad Jr., Kelly Flanagan and Michelle Conrad; and nine 
great-grandchildren, Ethan Flanagan, Brady Flanagan, Aidan Conrad, Heath 
Conrad, Gavin Conrad, Travis Conrad, Sierra Bynum and Seth and Natalie Spears.

She was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Abita Springs for the past 15 
years. 

Funeral services were Saturday followed by interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. 
Donations to: American Cancer Society are preferred, in lieu of flowers.

Mary Lee Lemann Dalferes passed away on October 4, 2009. A resident of 
Covington since 1976, she was born October 20, 1920 in Donaldsonville, LA to 
the late Arthur A., Sr. and Mary Lee Landry Lemann.

She was a graduate of Newcomb College class of 1940 with a B.S. in Mathematics. 
During her early years, she taught math and dancing. She formerly resided in 
New Orleans, Caracas, Mobile and Houston before moving to Covington in 1976.

The beloved wife of Joseph Lee Dalferes, Jr. for 67 years, she is survived by 
two sons, Joseph L., III "Dal" and James G. Dalferes; two daughters, Donna D. 
MacGregor and Denise G. Dalferes; seven grandchildren: Joseph, Craig, Gene and 
Thomas Dalferes, Molly, Cecile and Robert MacGregor; two great-grandsons, 
Charles and Joseph Dalferes. She was preceded in death by her sister, Harriet 
Lemann and two brothers, Arthur, Jr. and Charles Lemann.

Louis Porcello, Jr. passed away on October 4, 2009. He was born in New Orleans 
on August 6, 1944 to the late Louis, Sr. and Marian Eisler Porcello and was a 
resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast for 25 years before recently moving to 
Mandeville.

The beloved husband of the late Jacqueline Gehlert Porcello, he is survived by 
two daughters, Dorothy Rebecca Porcello and Celina Marie Porcello Hardy; two 
sons, Jason Aaron Porcello and Ryan Mitchell Porcello; two sisters, Mary Ellen 
Porcello Moran, Jo Ann Porcello Dell'Orfano; his brother, George Porcello and 
one grandson, Sebastian Oliver Moore.

LESNIAK

Laurrainne O'Laughlin Lesniak, 79, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009.

She was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret O'Laughlin; beloved wife 
of the late Thomas Ivan Lesniak; very "special companion" of Arthur Hammel Sr.; 
mother of Charmayne Teal (Jim), Dawn Lancashire (Dan) and the late Thomas Frank 
Lesniak; grandmother of Kimberly Majoue Forbes (Chris), Dana Lancashire Pender 
(Stuart) and the late Dan J. Lancashire, Jr.; great grandmother "Great Maw 
Maw/Gate" of Justin Lancashire, Emma Pender, Ava Pender and baby Cameron Forbes 
due in January and sister of Edward O'Laughlin Jr. and the late George 
O'Laughlin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Lesniak is a retiree of the St. Bernard Clerk of Courts, a member of the St. 
Bernard VFW Post 7194 Ladies Auxiliary and a former volunteer in nursing homes 
and hospitals for many years. 

She enjoyed dancing, shopping and playing bingo at the Senior Citizens Center 
in Slidell. She had a wonderful life with Art who took such great care of her 
even through many surgeries. Art brought her on many trips especially to visit 
his family, which she loved dearly and we know they loved her as well. Art 
treated our mother like she was a queen and we will be forever grateful to him. 
Mom loved sharing her good nature with family and friends and she will be 
dearly missed. Thanks Mom for being such a special blessing in our lives.

Relatives, friends of the family, fellow volunteers, members of the VFW Post 
7194 and former co-workers are invited to attend the funeral service at 2 p.m. 
today at St. Bernard Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette. Visitation is 
from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in St. Bernard 
Memorial Gardens.

Darville William McLemore, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the 
age of 62. 

Darville was a native of Greenville, Mississippi and a resident of 
Slidell, LA. 

Beloved son of Lillie Mae Boler McLemore and the late Darville 
William McLemore, Sr. Brother of Julie Karl Steelman.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

MOBLEY

On Sunday Oct. 4, 2009, Justin Aaron Mobley passed away.

He is survived by his father, Charles Singletary; mother, Angela Craddock; 
stepmother, Buffie Single-tary; grandparents Diane and Jerry Mobley and 
Virginia and Phil Singletary. He is also survived by his sisters, Stephanie 
Singletary, Macy Singletary and Victoria Singletary; brothers, Jacob Craddock, 
Shannon Craddock and Darrell Spiess.

The loss of Justin's life saves the lives of eight others through organ 
donations.

Services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 
Louisiana Highway 41, Pearl River. 

Visitation will be held today from 6- 9 p.m. 

Interment will follow the services in Austin Cemetery, Pearl River.

John Wesley Moore, 72, of Mandeville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at 
Lakeview Regional Medical Center.

He was the beloved husband of Lucille Sheridan Moore for the past 49 years and 
father of Ricky Marshall (wife, Sharron) of Jacksonville, Fla., Jeffrey Moore 
(wife, Tammie) of Cary, N.C., Ronald Moore (wife, Andrea) of Fuquay-Varina, 
N.C., Travis Moore (wife, Leslie) of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Tiffany Moore 
Fowler (husband, Brant) of Baton Rouge. He was the son of the late Willie 
Coleman and Disoco Moore and the twin brother of Charles Moore (wife, Dolores) 
of Mandeville. He was the proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren, Chauncey 
Marshall, Thadius Jones, Kendra Marshall, Jessica Moore, Kendall Moore, Brant 
Fowler II and Kyle Moore; and the great-grandfather of two, Jordan and Xavier.

Moore was a devoted deacon and superintendent of the Sunday school at Goodwill 
Missionary Baptist Church. He sung with the Fireside Gospel Singers for more 
than 50 years and was on the Planning and Zoning Board for the city of 
Mandeville. Also, he was a retired educator who served the St. Tammany Parish 
School System for more than 34 years, 25 as the assistant principal at 
Covington High School.

Relatives and friend are invited to attend the funeral services at 11 a.m. 
Saturday at First Baptist Church of Mandeville, 1895 U.S. Highway 190. 
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Interment will follow in Mandeville Cemetery.

Michael S. Nigro, 49, of Slidell, passed away Friday, Oct. 2, 2009.

He was the beloved husband of Donna Nigro; father of Jesse Nigro; stepfather of 
Ross Wiesner, Bobby Wiesner and Kelly McNeese; son of Wanda Nigro and the late 
John Marshall Nigro; and brother of John Marshall Nigro Jr. and Stephanie 
Dreux. He is also survived by two grandchildren.

He was a native and longtime resident of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell 
since 1998.

Funeral services were held yesterday at Covenant Baptist Church in Slidell. 

Interment was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Matthew James Rhinehart, age 24, beloved son of Brian James Rhinehart and Margo 
Duplantier Rhinehart, passed away at his home in Mandeville on October 7, 2009. 

He was born June 28, 1985 in New Orleans, and moved to Mandeville as a very 
young child. He lived several years of his childhood in Tembagapura, Indonesia. 

Matt was a graduate of Mandeville High School and ITT Technical College. He was 
a Computer Programmer Analyst at Ochsner Hospital and took great pride in his 
work.

He was the grandson of Dorothy Kuhn Rhinehart, Gerald F. Duplantier, Phyllis 
Sanders Duplantier, and the late Nat C. Rhinehart. He was the great-grandson of 
Gladys Quarrella Sanders. He was the loving brother of Leigh R. Dokos, Michael 
G. Rhinehart, and Rebecca R. Saucier, and brother-in-law to Tina McCormick 
Rhinehart and Alfred F. Saucier, IV. He was also the devoted uncle to Gabriel 
B. Rhinehart and Connor B. Dokos. He is also survived by a host of aunts,

On Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, BradyJo Latrich Tate passed away.

She is survived by her children, Summer Raven Tate and Victor John Tate, as

Norma Lee Gleghorn Gavin passed away on October 8, 2009 at the age of 80.

Beloved wife of Louis M.Gavin to whom she was married for 55 years but started 
dating at age 16. Norma is the loving mother of Andrew B. Gavin, Daniel D. 
Gavin and Matthew D. Gavin, grandmother of Benjamin Gavin and Madeline Gavin 
who reside in Knoxville, Tennessee.

She was born in Lawrence County Pennsylvania on a 250 acre dairy farm owned by 
her parents Helen Reid Gleghorn and Willis Gleghorn and she is the sister of 
Elaine Brooks who lives in New Jersey. 

She was the valedictorian of her high school graduating class and is a graduate 
of Pennsylvania State University with a BA in Journalism. For a short time she 
worked for a Denver Colorado newspaper, and later worked as the administrative 
assistant at the Moriah Synaggue in Highland Park, Illinois and she held a 
similar position at the Sherime Synagogue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. And 
later after when she and her husband Louis retired to Mandeville, she was the 
assistant to the Headmaster of the Hebrew Day School in Metairie. Her husband 
Louis' work with an international financial firm required a number of 
relocations which included stays in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Youngstown, Ohio, 
Cleveland, Ohio Detroit, Michigan, Dearborn Michigan, Louisville, Kentucky, 
Dallas, Texas, Deerfield, Illinois, Chicago, Illinois, and Philadelphia, 
Pennsylvania.

Norma was a community activist. While living in Deerfield, Illinois she was 
elected for two terms to the Deerfield City Council and was the chief 
negotiator for the city of Deerfield with the Police Department. She also 
served as the President of the Illinois State League of Women Voters. She 
chaired the Deerfield organization called CHILD whose purpose was to help 
children with learning disabilities. 

She also led the project to help develop senior housing in Deerfield and was 
president of the Presbyterian Church Couples Club. She received the 
Distinguished Service Award for her work on the Illinois Bicentennial 
Commission. 

When she and her husband retired to Mandeville, she served on the Board of 
Directors of the Lakeview Regional Medical Center and on the Board of the 
Lallie Kemp Medical Center in Independence. She held directorships on the Board 
of the Youth Service Bureau where she served as an active Court Appointed 
Special Advocate assisting children living in foster homes, the Mandeville 
Trail Head, the St. Tammany Parish League of Women as well as a past president. 
For the League she was an observer at all the St. Tammany Parish Council 
meetings keeping the Councilpersons on their toes. In addition she was the 
editor of "The Voter", a League publication. She was known for her quick and 
outrages sense of humor. 

She was an accomplished pianist and vocalist.

Relatives and Friends of the Gavin family are invited to attend the memorial 
service on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 10:00am at the Faith Bible Church 
located at 1148 N. Columbia Street, Covington, 70433.

James "Larry" Schaefer passed away on October 8, 2009 at the age of 74. 
Surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. 

He was the beloved husband of Janet Schexnaydre for 52 years. Loving father of 
Tarra Summerfield (Bob), Kenneth Schaefer (Toni), Martha Briggs (John), Beth 
Byrd (Lennon). Grandfather of Jessica Hayes, John & Matthew Briggs, Roni & Ali 
Byrd, and the late Joshua Hayes. Son of the late Arnold Clark Schaefer and 
Jesse Wachenfeld of Biloxi, MS. He is survived by his sister Betty Campbell and 
many nieces & nephews, and was preceded in death by his brother Clark. 

He was born in Biloxi, MS on December 6, 1934. He was raised in Metairie, LA, 
and has been a resident of Slidell, LA for the past 25 years. He graduated from 
Metairie High School in 1953. Perkinston Junior College in 1957 and LSU in 
1961. 

He worked in the garment industry all of his life. He was a Veteran of the U.S. 
Naval Reserve, an active member of American Legion Post 374. He had many 
friends and never met a stranger. He loved the outdoors and was an avid deer 
hunter but a wanna-be fisherman. He was scoutmaster for troop 114 at St 
Martin's inMetairie, LA. 

Memorial services will be held at a later date. 

Donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Memphis, TN. and Boy 
Scouts of America.

Malcolm Barkley Berrigan, 66, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at her home.

She was the loving mom of Laura B. Creighton (David), Tracey L. Berrigan, 
Kimberly B. Baggett (Christopher) and Darrell D. Berrigan; daughter of the late 
Laurence M. Barkley and Malcolm Tullis Barkley; and sister of Laurence M.

grandchildren, Jamie Creighton, Tristan, Hayden, Ethan and Morgan Baggett; and 
also many nieces and nephews.

She was a lifelong resident of Slidell. Berrigan was a Weight Watchers leader 
for the past seven years.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Epicopal Church of Sulphur, La. Margaret loved 
knitting, sewing and quilting.

She took much pride in her appearance and was the rock for her family, Living 
her life by example. She loved her nieces and nephews and entire family very 
much.

She was the daughter of the late Alfred V. Smith Sr. and the late Lavinia 
Peroncel Smith. 

She is survived by her one son, Harris N. Rowzie Jr. and his 
wife Jan Barber Rowzie of Sulphur, La; two grandchildren, Harris N. Rowzie III 
and Michelle Renee Renew; one great-grandchild, Elizabeth Renew; two step-
grandchildren, Nick Barber and Jennifer Barber

Isabelle Sallinger Mangin, 69, died Thursday morning, Oct. 8, 2009, at 
Northshore Living Center. She was a native of New Orleans and a resident of 
Slidell since 2006.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Esteves Sallinger; her father, 
George E. Sallinger Sr.; and her brother, George E. Sallinger Jr.

She is survived by her sisters, Amelia Kennedy (Bill) and Inez Laurent 
(Gerald). She was the loving mother of Sheree Jarrell Roshto (Steve), Deborah 
Jarrell Broussard, Michael Hemphill (Amy) and the late Terri Kathleen Jarrell; 
grandmother of Steven Roshto Jr., (Bianca), Anthony Roshto, Sheramie Roshto, 
Neal Broussard Jr., Beckie Broussard, Michael Alan Hemphill, Megan Hemphill and 
the late Brandie Broussard; great-grandmother of Victoria and Steven Roshto III 
and Landon Brown. She is also survived by her special sister-in-law, Beth 
Johannessen, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was a very kind and loving person and always had a smile for everyone. She 
touched many hearts and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Many thanks 
to all the staff of Northshore Living Center and Memorial Hospice for the 
wonderful care she received and for making her last years happy ones. She loved 
you all so very much.

Funeral services were held yesterday at Honaker Funeral Home, Slidell.

Bessie Mae Schultz, 89, passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, in Slidell.

She was the beloved wife of the late Orville Harvey Jones by first marriage and 
Fred William Schultz by second marriage. She was the mother of Eric Orville 
Jones Sr. (Phyllis) and Robert Harvey Jones (Linda). She is also survived by 
one sister, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was a native of Monteray, Tenn., and a resident of Slidell since 1972. Mrs. 
Schultz was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Slidell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 
Gause Blvd. W., Slidell. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Interment will 
follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

1957 to Sadie Barnes Motichek and the late Louis F. Motichek, Jr. and was a 
life resident of Madisonville, LA until moving to Meadville, MS in 1997.

The beloved husband of Carol Ann Halford Motichek, he is survived by two sons, 
Jason and Justin Motichek; one daughter, Elizabeth Motichek; three step-
children: Dewayne, Brittany and Brandy Mitchell; his granddaughter, Madison 
Motichek; two brothers, David and Mark Motichek and three sisters: Diane

The beloved wife of David Charles Scott, she is survived by two children,

survived by nieces and other relatives. He was a native of New Orleans, and a 
resident of Slidell for the past 30 years.

GOTSCHALL

"Laura" Jane Auld Gotschall, 88, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at home in 
Conroe, Texas.

Born in Plankinton, S.D., Oct. 23, 1920, she was the daughter of Florence 
Belding Auld and Glenn Hoon Auld. She graduated from Grand Island Business 
College in Nebraska and worked for the Department of the Navy during World War 
II.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Gerald Edward "Jerry" 
Gotschall, in 1990. She lovingly supported his career moves as an FBI agent and 
later as a petroleum landsman for John Mecom Sr., General Crude Oil and 
International Paper, making homes for their family in Bloomington, Ill., 
Denver, Falls Church, Va., New Orleans, Covington and Conroe.

In addition to her gifts as wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and 
homemaker, Jane was a talented musician, athlete and bridge player. She was a 
devoted member of First Presbyterian Church in Conroe, where she was an 
indispensable and gifted Sunday School teacher, piano accompanist, and choir 
member. She was an instrumental member of the planning committee for the 
relocation and building program of the church and spent much of her time in 
church-related volunteer activities.

She was recognized as Woman of the Year and awarded an Honorary Lifetime 
Membership by The Presbyterian Women Of The Church last spring in recognition 
of her many services to the church.

Jane served as an elder, both in the Covington Presbyterian Church and in her 
current church home.

Jane's circle of friends was extensive and included her many tennis, bridge and 
golf partners and opponents. She played league tennis, golf and bridge for 
River Plantation groups and taught bridge at Montgomery County Community 
College.

She loved to travel and included friends and family whenever possible. She 
continued a tradition she and Jerry began 35 years ago to bring their children 
and grandchildren together for a week each summer to enjoy each others' 
company. In recent years, the usual venues at Texas or Florida beaches also 
included memorable family trips to Hawaii, France and a Caribbean cruise.

Jane will be missed by her children, Bob and wife Teboota, David and wife Kay, 
Ann and husband Edward Sharp, and Glenn and wife Ann; grandchildren, Sarah and 
Summer and their mother Isobel Gotschall, Kristin and husband Tim Gutzke, Kreg 
and fiancˇe Caroline Worra, Charles Sharp, Kelly and husband Rusty Lannin, 
Kerry, Ruth, Nona, Emma, and Ioanna; and her great-grandchildren, Austen, 
Rachael and Victoria. Her granddaughter Etita Bob passed away in July.

Burial services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Cashner Funeral Home and 
Cemetery, 801 Teas Road, (North FM 3083 East), Conroe, Texas. The memorial 
services will follow at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 2727 N. Loop 336 
W., Conroe. A reception at the church will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Jane Gotschall Memorial Choir Fund at 
First Presbyterian Church, Conroe, will be welcomed.

Annie Sprofera Heine, 88, passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009.

She was the daughter of the late John and Josephine Sprofera; beloved wife of 
the late Theodore J. Heine Sr.; mother of Faye Ann Lashover (Jack), Cindy 
Simpson (Wayne) and the late Theodore J. Heine Jr. (Joan "De De"). She was the 
grandmother of Keith, Brett, Michelle, Yvette, Nicole, Tiffany, Amanda and the 
late Kirby and Christie; great-grandmother of Katrina, Christian, Michael, 
Jacob, Deanna, D.J., Blake, Tia, Tabitha, Holly, Kaitlyn, Timothy, Davis and 
Alexis; sister of Pauline Gove (Wilburn) and Jennie Lee DeRose (Tommy); and 
niece of Sam Culotta. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Heine was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish and will be fondly 
remembered for her devotion to family which included great Italian Sunday 
dinners, gardening, baby quilting and painting.

noon today at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette.

Carl Morgan, 74, of Slidell, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009.

He was a member of Ridge Memorial Baptist Church and was a Master Sergeant in 
the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was also an owner-operator 
of 18-wheel trucks.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Cantrelle Morgan; four sons, Carl, Calvin, 
Todd and Morgan; eight grandchildren and two sisters, Geraldine Smith and 
Evelyn Tate.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Murphy and Mabel Morgan, and four 
brothers.

Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Ridge Memorial Baptist 
Church, 55115 Apple Pie Ridge, Slidell. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 
service time. The Rev. Paul Dabdoub will officiate. Internment will follow in 
the VA National Cemetery in Biloxi, Miss.

She was a native of New Orleans, a longtime former resident of St. Bernard and 
a resident of Slidell since 2007. Sullivan was a former employee of Magnolia 
Marketing. She was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor church in 
Chalmette and a most recent parishioner of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in 
Slidell. Many thanks to all who provided care in her later days.

THOMPSON

Capt. Donald Joseph Thompson, 73, of Slidell, passed away Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, 
at Northshore Regional Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Faye Thompson and by the previous marriage to the 
late Eileen O. Thompson. He was the brother of Walter Thompson; loving father 
to five children, three stepchildren and numerous grandchildren.

He was a native of Bayside Queens, N.Y. Don graduated from the U.S. Merchant 
Marine Academy (Kings Point) in August 1957. He served honorably at sea, 
achieving the rank of Master and sailing during the Korean War. In the 1970's 
and 80's, he supported his alma mater by serving as a Kings Point Recruiter in 
the New Orleans area. He also owned and operated a maritime surveying business, 
Crescent Surveyor's in New Orleans area for over 30 years. Known affectionately 
by friends and colleagues as "D.J.," he enjoyed travel, golf, history, 
supporting numerous charities and serving the Lord. As one friend remembers, 
"D.J. always had a smile. As a golfer, he stunk, but as a man, he was 
excellent."

Don's extraordinary life was celebrated and a funeral Mass was held yesterday 
at St. Luke's Catholic Church. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in New 
Orleans.

Vera Solari Herberger passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 11:00 am, 
surrounded by her family and friends, at the age of 85. 

Vera was born in Westwego and spent her youth there until she married Merlin E. 
Herberger, Sr. in 1945. They spent a long and respectful life together for over 
64 years. 

They moved to New Orleans and built a successful trucking business with 
Merlin's brother, the late Neil Herberger, Sr. They retired in 1968 and moved 
to Covington where they now reside.

Vera is survived by her husband Merlin E. Herberger, Sr., her sister Esther 
Gervas, her two sons, Merlin Herberger, Jr. and Wayne Herberger, Sr. and their 
wives, Sylvia Van Camp Herberger and Barbara Lazier Herberger. Also survived by 
6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Jim Edward Evans passed away on Friday, October 16, 2009 at the age of 62. 

Jim was born in New Orleans and was raised in Violet by his loving mother, 
Olivia Dardar Evans and his father Clifford Joseph Evans. 

He is a 1965 graduate of St. Bernard High School. While proudly serving in the 
U.S. Army, Jim toured the world. Jim returned home to meet the love of his life 
and soul mate, Donna Nunez. They married in November 1972 and lived happily 
together for 37 wonderful years. 

Jim was a master carpenter as well as an accomplished woodworker. He 
created a legacy that will forever be known as the Evans family. 

He is survived by his loving wife Donna, his children Melissa and Billy Holder, 
Melanie Evans, Jacques and Jennifer Evans and Jeanett Evans, brother and best 
friend Bobby Battle, sister Josephine and little brother Clifford, brother-in-
law Gail, sisters-in-law Ava Jean and Ann Marie, his grandchildren Sebastion, 
Nathaniel, Ashley, Heather, Lily and Alani, and his nephews Michael and Adam 
Battle. 

The most important thing in life to Jim was his family. He was a very special 
person who will always hold a special place in our hearts and will be loved and 
remembered forever.

Catherine Hatton Guffey, 76, of Slidell, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, 
at Greenbriar Nursing Home in Slidell.

She was the beloved wife of Kenneth Guffey; mother of Kenneth J. Guffey, 
Kristopher J. Guffey and wife Christine. She is also survived by grandchild, 
Kristin Guffey and great-grandchild, Shelby Guffey.

She was a native of Montgomery County, Ky., and a longtime resident of Slidell, 
Mrs. Guffey was a retired LPN and worked for Slidell Memorial Hospital.

A celebration of her life was held yesterday at Pinewood Country Club, 405

Charles Joseph O'Neil Sr., 65, of Chalmette, went home to be with the Lord on 
Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009.

He was the beloved and devoted husband of 42 years of Sandra Terry O'Neil; 
cherished father of Charles Joseph O'Neil Jr. (wife Mary), Christopher Joseph 
O'Neil (wife Sharon), and Ryan Matthew O'Neil (wife Nicole); son of the late 
Myrtle O'Neil Zanca and James Joseph O'Neil Sr.; brother of Charlotte Schmitt, 
Daniel O'Neil Sr., Steven O'Neil Sr., James Joseph O'Neil Jr. and the late 
Peggy LeBeau. He is also survived by five precious grandchildren, Abby O'Neil, 
Lauren O'Neil, Cameron O'Neil, Collin O'Neil, Morgan O'Neil and a host of 
aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was a native of New Orleans, Charles served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 
1967 and was retired from Metal Goods and Folgers Coffee Co. in New Orleans. He 
was a resident of St. Bernard Parish for the past 37 years.

A celebration of Charles' life will be held at noon tomorrow at Honaker Funeral 
Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. W., (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell. Friends may 
visit at the funeral home tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

the former manager of Imperial Jewelry Co. in Metairie.

Catherine "Katie" Planche Friedrichs, 80, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 
2009.

Beloved mother of Drew Friedrichs, M. Pierre Friedrichs, Marie Friedrichs 
Rodehorst and Kit Friedrichs-Baumann; grandmother to Caroline, Andrew, Leah, 
Elizabeth, Anastasia, Harris and Austin. She was preceded in death by her 
husband, Andrew V. Friedrichs, Jr.; her mother, Catherine Slattery Planche; her 
father, Maurice P. Planche, Sr.; a sister, Marie Planche; and two brothers, 
Ricky and Edgar Planche.

She was a native and lifetime resident of Ramsay, LA. A community activist and 
Professor Emeritus at Southeastern Louisiana University, she was a graduate of 
Saint Scholastica Academy and Louisiana State University with a Masters degree 
in Physical Education and Dance and later studied at Columbia University in New 
York. As a young girl, she was the first female to show cattle with 4-H in 
Louisiana and was a featured actor in the film "Kingfish". She was also a 
founding member of Playmaker Theater.

Beth Short Gilpin, a resident of St. Tammany Parish since 1987, passed away 
Oct. 15, 2009.

Gilpin was preceded in death by parents, Robert Terrell Short and Vella Bea 
Short.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Oscar Gilpin Jr.; her children, Charles 
Oscar Gilpin III and his wife Nicole Hungerman Gilpin and John Ayres Gilpin; 
brothers, Robert Terrell Short Jr. and Ronnie Fowler Short; and sister, Ann 
Short Agee. She had many loving nieces and nephews.

Gilpin was a popular and successful real estate agent on the Northshore; a 
member of Phi Mu Sorority; active in Mandeville schools as a volunteer and PTA 
President at Mandeville Middle School under school board superintendent Gayle 
Sloan (principal at the time); helped organize the first Project Graduation in 
Mandeville; was a former member of the Junior League of Greater Covington; and 
served as president of Salmen High School Football Booster Club under Coach 
Bill Stubbs for the team that won the 4-A State Championship. She will be 
remembered most for her great big long hugs and treating everyone as her best 
friend.

Memorial service were held yesterday at First Baptist Church of Covington with 
the Rev. Waylon Baily officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, 
Montgomery, Ala., today at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Mike Northcutt officiating.

Active pallbearers were Robert Spencer Agee, Steven Trenton Agee, Robert 
Terrell Short III, John Robin Short, Michael Edward Short and Matthew Fowler 
Short. Honorary pallbearers are Sheffield Watterson Young and Thomas Twain

Carl Morgan, 74, of Slidell passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009.

He was a member of the Grace Memorial Baptist Church and was a master sergeant 
in the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was also an owner-
operator of 18-wheel trucks.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Cantrelle Morgan; four sons, Carl, Calvin, 
Todd and Tim Morgan; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Geraldine Smith and 
Evlyn Tate.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

Funeral Services were held Wednesday at the Grace Memorial Baptist Church with 
the Rev. Paul Dabdoub officiating. Interment was in the VA National Cemetery in 
Biloxi, Miss.

Oct. 15, 2009, at his residence.

Montalbano, Chris-topher J. Pomes (Dawn); and stepfather of Philip Generose and 
Sheila Ronquillo. He is survived by his brother, Roy Pomes; stepbrothers, 
William Roecher Jr., Larry; stepsister, Lucy; and his former wife, Dee Diket 
Pomes. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Robert Rapp, Ryan Rapp, 
Kristie Cangelosi Goyer, Kristian Cangelosi, Blaine Maurin, Nicole Montalbano, 
Kassidy Montalbano, Kailey Montalbano and Cody Pomes; and four great-
grandchildren, Angelle Rapp, Victoria Rapp, Connor Rapp and Isabella Goyer.

He was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Lake Catherine. He 
served in the U.S. Navy, worked for Otis Elevator for many years and was the 
owner of Pomes Seafood for the past 35 years. He will be greatly missed by the 
seafood industry and his many friends and fisherman.

Ronald Alfred Boze passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the age of 77. 

Ronald was a native of New Orleans, LA. and a resident of Mandeville, LA. 

Beloved husband of 42 years to Antoinette Vita Boze. Ronald is the son of the 
late Leslie John Boze Sr., Nellie Webre Boze and brother of the late Leslie 
John Boze Jr. Survived by his daughter Michelle M. Boze, Psy.D., (Thomas Peter 
Toomey II), two loving sons Christopher M. Boze (Diana) of Harrison, AR. and 
John L. Boze (Monica) of Sacramento, CA, and grandfather of Thomas Maxwell. 
Also survived by many loving relatives and friends. 

Ronald graduated from St. Paul's High School, Covington, LA in 1949, graduated 
LSU with a B.S. in petroleum engineering in 1954. He worked as a petroleum 
engineer on many projects including the Polaris missile systems in California. 
Ronald was a partner in the firm of Roberts & Boze in New Orleans and for 30 
years was the owner and President of L'Eau Claire, International, a water 
treatment engineering firm. 
During his career, he developed numerous patents for improving the treatment of 
petroleum and industrial wastewater, and developed an innovative treatment 
processes. 

Ronald also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army in 1956. 
Following retirement, he served as a CASA volunteer and was awarded the CASA 
volunteer of the year in 2007. He also became an avid horseman. Ronald was a 
member of several trade and social organizations, including a lifetime member 
of the U.S. Equestrian Federation, Patriots Circle of the National WWII Museum, 
Knights of Columbus, and Plimsoll Club at the World Trade Center of New 
Orleans. 

He also extensively traveled the world over, including Europe, Asia, Africa, 
and the Middle East. 

Mr. Boze was a respected mentor and confidant to many and a noble man of true 
character. He enjoyed all of life's blessings and gained wisdom from the trials 
and tribulations of life. He generously bestowed his life's lessons to anyone 
who sought his advice. He loved his country very much and relished in its rich 
history, especially the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces. He will 
be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ralph Latapie, 69, of Chalmette, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at his 
home in Chalmette.

He was the beloved husband of Mercedes Weiser Latapie by second marriage and 
the late Marcia Chalona Latapie by first marriage. He was the father of Walter 
Ralph Latapie III (Lisa Latapie) and Katherine Elizabeth Latapie Gilbert 
(Matthew Gilbert); stepfather of Christopher Peter Weiser, David Michael Weiser 
and Paul Matthew Weiser. He was the son of the late Walter Ralph Latapie Sr. 
and Hilda Siemssen Latapie and the brother of Lynn Gerding and Alan Latapie; 
grandfather of Marley Gilbert; stepgrandfather of Jonathan Weiser and the late 
Brad Weiser.

He was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Chalmette since 1967. He was a 
retired marine biologist for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries 
and the Department of Natural Resources-Coastal Restoration. He was a member 
and former chairman of the St. Bernard Wetlands Foundation and many other 
numerous committees dealing with coastal restoration in the St. Bernard area. 
Until 2005, Ralph was a longtime volunteer at the Aquarium of the America's in 
New Orleans.

Relatives, friends of the family as well as colleagues from the Departments of 
Wildlife and Fisheries and Natural Resources are invited to attend the funeral

in Lisle, IL and Mary Queen of Peace in Mandeville, LA. Gus also coached youth 
sports in Lisle, IL. After retiring, he worked along side his son at Steve's 
Ace Hardware in Covington, LA.

Francis Paul Deluca, 57, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009. He was a native of New 
Orleans and recently resided in Covington.

He was the husband of 31 years to Jannelle M. Deluca; and father of Frank P. 
Deluca, David A. Deluca and Jennifer D. Schexnaildre. He was the son of the 
late Joseph and Mary Deluca. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph Deluca; 
sister, Mary Ann Grau; and nine grandchildren.

A funeral and memorial service was held yesterday at Richardson Funeral Home in 
Covington.

HEINERICHS

Harry Heinerichs, of Winona, Miss., formerly of Slidell, died of heart failure 
Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at the Winona Manor Nursing Home. He was 85 years old.

He was a retired riverboat engineer, a member of the Catholic Church in 
Slidell, a Mason and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gaynel Ladnier Heinerichs; and parents, 
Fredrick and Elizabeth Reese Heinerichs.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Perry of Winona; three sons, Michael 
Heinerichs of Alton Ill., Harry Walter Heinerichs II of Slidell and Carl 
Fredrick Heinerichs of Slidell; four grandchildren and three great-
grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services were Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Winona with 
the Rev. Rusty Fair officiating. Oliver Funeral Home of Winona is in charge of 
arrangements.

James Dale McKee went to his heavenly Father Oct. 21, 2009, at 7:15 a.m. 

He was a student at Pearl River High School.

James touched everyone's heart in a very special way. He will be missed by his 
mother, Judy Sharp McKee; aunt, Debbie Mitchell; uncles, Everett Mitchell and 
Joey Sharp; his grandmothers, Mary Sharp and Dorothy Nixon; and grandfather, 
Charles J. Nixon. He will also be missed by his cousins, Glenn, Amanda and 
Matthew Walker; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in Slidell, 
Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Home, 67525 
Louisiana Highway 41, Pearl River. The family will receive visitors from noon 
to service time, and his remains will be cremated.

Dr. Terry Don Petty passed away on Friday, October 23, 2009 at the age of 74.

Beloved husband of Mary Case Petty. Father of Terry M. Petty, Shane Petty, John 
Petty and Bruce Petty. Step-father of Debra Koski and Charles Koski. Son of the 
late Faine Bratton and W.H. Petty. Brother of Joy Lugar. Also survived by eight 
grandchildren.

He was a native of Paducah, TX and a resident of the New Orleans area for over 
30 years. He received his BS, MS and Doctorate of Engineering from the 
University of Oklahoma and was vice-president of engineering at ODECO and 
president of Eldorado Engineering/ Murphy Oil.

BARRINGER

Myrtle D. Barringer, 86, of Bush, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at 
Forest Manor Nursing Home in Covington.

She was the beloved wife of the late Jerome E. Barringer by second marriage and 
the late Abner H. Gilmore by first marriage. She was the mother of Theresa G. 
Gilmore, Kay G. Strain, Lisa G. Lier and the late William David Gilmore; 
daughter of the late Alex W. DuBell and Francis Brooks DuBell; sister of the 
late Mary Williams, Ruth Rayborn and Juanita Pickering. She is also survived by 
11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Wisner and a resident of Bush for the past six years. 
Barringer was a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Bush and a former longtime 
member of First Baptist Church of Lacombe.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
at 11 a.m. Monday at Honaker Funeral Home1751 Gause Blvd. W. (in Forest Lawn

SMITH

Leroy Lovering Smith passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009. 

He was born June 24, 1925, to the late Gustave and Edna Smith and had been a 
life resident of Mandeville.

He is survived by six children: Gretchen, Craig, Phoebe, Melisa, Marian and Tim 
and seven grandchildren.

His childhood was spent fishing, hunting and trapping on Lake Pontchartrain and 
the surrounding rivers and marshes. Helping his father build houses, tending to 
cattle and working at the family's icehouse in Mandeville also kept him busy. 
At age 14, he found time for schooling and helped the other students in the 
community by driving the school bus. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, during World 
War II he served his country in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Fremont.

A memorial gathering will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mandeville Cemetery 
(on Montgomery Street between Jackson and Foy streets). E.J. Fielding Funeral 
Home of Covington was entrusted with arrangements.

Father Thomas Eugene Perrier, O.S.B., monk of Saint Joseph Abbey in Saint 
Benedict, Louisiana, died at the abbey on October 26, 2009. He was 56 years 
old.

Son of the late Eugene Perrier, III and Myrtle Weathers, Father Thomas was born 
Dec. 4 1952, in New Orleans, LA. He made his profession as a Benedictine Monk 
of Saint Joseph Abbey on July 10, 1975. He was ordained to the priesthood 
January 5, 1980.

He is survived by two sisters, Sister Rochelle Perrier, MSC and Sister 
Christine Perrier, MSC.

Father Thomas served as Director of Camp Abbey, Professor in St. Joseph 
Seminary College, Novice Master, and Director of the Christian Life Center.

Father Thomas' body will be received at Saint Joseph Abbey on Thursday, October 
29, 2009 at 5:15 P.M. followed by the singing of Vespers.

The Funeral Vigil will be held at 7:15 PM in the Abbey Church.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 
11:15 AM at St. Joseph Abbey followed by burial in the Abbey Cemetery.

of Adrian Jay Ordogne and the late Alan James Ordogne. Grandmother-in-law of 
Peggy Ordogne. Great grandmother of Kelly Ann Ordogne and Amanda Katherine 
Ordogne. Daughter of the late Henrietta and Thomas J. Lee. Sister of Ursula Lee 
Kuhn, Beverly Lee Calia and the late Thomas John Lee, Gloria Lee Rando, John 
Joseph Lee, and Betty Lee Nye. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and 
friends. 

Florence was a member of Our Lady of the Lake's Altar Society and the 
Bereavement Committee. Her family is especially grateful to her devoted 
caretakers and her Altar Society friends. 

Florence's most special memories were the birth of her daughter and when 
Patrick proposed.

He was a cook in the restaurant business.

Francis "Boogie" Xavier Gomila, 72, passed away peacefully at his residence 
Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009.

He was the beloved husband of Carolyn Gagnon Gomila; father of Renee Gomila 
Croissant (John), Julie Cornell, Gaye Gomila and Paul Gomila (Maria); brother 
of Bobbie Donnelly and the late Dorothy Daboval, Lawrence Gomila, Marilyn 
Marine, James Gomila and Patricia Pratt. He is also survived by five 
grandchildren, Christopher Cornell, Katie Cornell, Kyle Cornell, Madeline 
Gomila and Paul "Bear" Gomila, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a native of New Orleans and a long time resident of Slidell. He was 
president of Miramon Construction and was active in numerous civic and social 
organizations.

She was born October 10, 1930 in Pascagoula, MS and was a resident of St. 
Bernard Parish for over 50 years.

M.J. McCarty. The beloved wife of the late Vincent J. Portera, she is survived

Kathleen P. Schaeffer (Milton), Tony J. Portera (Gwenette), Michael R. Portera 
(Brenda), Tina P. Lloyd (Gary) and Jodi P. Bergeron (Gregory; two sisters,

Patricia (Pat) Ann Hammell passed away on October 31, 2009 at the age of 72.

She was a native of New Jersey and a resident of New Orleans for over 30 years. 
After Hurricane Katrina, Ms. Hammell made her home in Covington, LA. She was a 
retired commercial interior designer. Pat was an artist and woodcarver who 
received her inspiration from nature.

She was a member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Mandeville. In the 
last months of her life, she enjoyed attending the Deborah class at First 
Baptist Church, Covington.

She is survived by Robert and Marilyn Hammell of Milton, FL; Loretta Rivers and 
The Rivers Family of Union, MS; Curt and Ann Davenport and Scott Weber of the 
Seattle, WA area. She was predeceased by her parents, John Edward Hammell and 
Elinor Kipp Hammell.

Pamela Spell Ory passed away on October 31, 2009. She was born October 10, 1955 
to the late Mathew "Butz" and Gloria "Billie" Lemons Spell. A life resident of 
Mandeville, she worked as bookkeeper and office manager for a combined 20 years 
at Mandeville Middle School and most recently for Lake Harbor Middle School.

The beloved wife of Lawrence T. Ory, Jr., she is survived by two sons, Lawrence 
"Trey" Ory, III, his wife Trece Brown Ory and Matthew Michael Ory, his fiance' 
Sloane R. Goux and one granddaughter, Chloe Lynn Ory. She is also survived by 
her sister, Dondra Spell Sharp and one brother, Kirk M. Spell.
