He was preceded in death by his son, Angelo Tunis Jr.; father, Wyvan Barrow; and brother, Dale Barrow. ======================== St. Tammany News (Covington, LA) - Sunday, November 1, 2009 BATEMAN Howell (Harrell) "Ray" Bateman passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at the age of 83. He was born Oct. 28, 1926, in Mount Hermon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees and proudly served his country during World War II. He worked for New Orleans Public Service for 42 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawson and Eula Bateman; brothers, Joe and Steve Bateman; and sister, Athalone Rustin. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Florence Hulin Bateman; his children, Ann Musacchia (wife of Roy), Ray Bateman (husband of Cecile), Glenn Bateman (husband of Linda) and Micky Bateman (husband of Geralyn). "Big Daddy" was also survived by his grandchildren, Mark (Kelly), Melisa (Travis), Stephen (Jamie), Tommy, Sarah (Tony), Danny (the late Amber), Michelle (Sid) and Brett. He will be fondly remembered by his 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Alford; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was the beloved husband of Jo Carol Bearden for the past 44 years; father of Wendy Ray and husband Tommy of Walker and Joseph Edward Bearden III and wife Shannon of Mandeville; son of Nancy Bearden and the late Joseph Edward Bearden; brother of Ronald Bearden and wife Carol of Memphis, Tenn., and Mary Coltrain and husband Rick of Williamston, N.C. He was blessed with the opportunity to retire early which allowed him to give back to many organizations including AARP tax aide volunteer, member of Beau Chene HOA, volunteer to minister at Forest Manor nursing home and a member of the World Seniors Golf Federation During his retirement he was able to travel, hike and fly fish with his wife, participate in many golf tournaments with his buddies, attend UT football games with his brother, hunt with friends and watch his grandchildren participate in sporting events. Larry was a godly man that led by example in his personal and professional life. He was a man that accomplished great things but he also knew that his great God was behind it all. He loved right and hated wrong, he loved truth and hated error. Larry touched the lives and hearts of many and will be greatly missed by the ones he loved. We are thankful for the tender care of the Doctors, the ICU/CCU nurses and therapists at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He graduated from the University of Texas, receiving a bachelor of science degree in applied mathematics. Claude actively served in the military as a U.S. Army staff sergeant during both engineer in the air and space industries. He was an active member of the Methodist Church for over 53 years. Mr. Aldridge was born Sept. 16, 1916, in Danville, Ala., to Walter W. Aldridge Jr. and Mabel O. Aldridge. He graduated from Danville High School in 1935, entered the work force and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1941. After his military service, he graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1950. He worked for the federal government for 35 years, retiring from NASA in 1985. During his time at NASA he was awarded a Snoopy, the astronauts' award for performance. He lived in Slidell since 1963 and devoted time to his church, gardening and his family. He received the Order of St. Louis from the Archdiocese of New Orleans in recognition of his service to the church. He was active in retirement and never gave up his lifelong love of learning. Dubuisson passed away after a long illness at age 94 in Carmichael, Calif. on Nov. 14, 2009. He was born on Jan. 7, 1915, in Pass Christian, Miss., and at five years of age moved to Covington, where he resided until 1991, when he moved to Carmichael. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alix, of almost 50 years, by his sisters Lela Fitzgerald and Carrie Fitzgerald, and his brother Vernon Dubuisson. He is survived by his son, Lloyd Dubuisson of Baton Rouge, his daughter Mary Alice Marino of Carmichael, four grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. After graduating from Covington High School in 1931, and Southeastern in 1933. Mr. Dubuisson began his long teaching career at age 18 in a two-room school in Savannah Branch, north of Folsom. In 1939, he received a Bachelor of Arts from Southeastern, and in 1956, a master's in education from L.S.U. During his forty years with St. Tammany Parish Public Schools, he taught or was principal at eight schools. In 1963, he was selected as the most outstanding 4-H leader in the state of Louisiana. In 1973, he retired as principal of Covington Elementary, which was approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools during his leadership. Mr. Dubuisson loved flowers and plants and was an avid gardener. After retirement, he and Mrs. Dubuisson spent most of their free time landscaping and beautifying the yard of their home on 8th Avenue in Covington, which frequently won the Garden of the Month Award. During retirement, Mr. Dubuisson served on the St. Peter's School Board and was active in the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association, a National Day Lily Organization, and numerous civic endeavors. In addition, he administered the GED tests for the St. Tammany Parish School Board until 1990. He remained committed to the importance of education throughout his life. Mr. Dubuisson was a generous and compassionate person who was devoted to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Louis was a lifelong resident of the New Orleans area. He was born in New Orleans on May 2, 1947 and grew up in the 9th Ward until marrying and raising his family in the Covington area. He is survived by his wife, Kay Fallon, two children, Jerry Dendinger and Jennifer Patterson, and eight grandchildren. The grandchildren are Joshua, Christopher, Alex, Jonathan, Rebecca, Emily, Adam and Evan. Jerry and Mallory Dendinger currently reside in Lebanon, Ohio while Jennifer and Trey Patterson reside in Cumming, Georgia. Louis is also survived by his wife's family - daughter Caitlin, son Cassady and his wife Heather and their son Sebastian. He also leaves behind innumerable friends and family. Louis is the son of the late Louis and Octavia Dendinger also of New Orleans. Louis is a graduate of Nicholls High School and the University of New Orleans. He served as an accountant and CPA for forty years serving clients all over the Northshore. His life was full and active. Louis was athletic all his life from baseball as a youth and then a competitive weight lifter (Olympic Lifts) through the 70's. In the 80's Louis became an avid runner competing in races all over the New Orleans area until the mid 90's when he had to limit his activity due to a knee replacement. Louis and friends annually ran in the Azalea Trail, Crescent City Classic and Turkey Day Run. The last 10 years of his life, consisted of frequent travel to visit grandchildren. He also traveled internationally on mission trips with son Jerry to Spain and Kenya. Louis and Kay started a new life within the world of Jazz music and dancing. Louis became an outstanding dancer that was admired by all who saw him. The funeral service will be held on December 4th at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home on 21st Ave. in Covington. Butch (as she was commonly known) was a resident of Hattiesburg, Ms for most of her life. She worked as a legal secretary for Tomas Law Office until her retirement. The past three years she resided at Wynnwood Assisted Living in Mandeville, La., where she was lovingly cared for by all especially Ella, Kim, Beverly, and Mike. She touched the hearts of everyone who knew her and lived life to the fullest. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband. C. W. England, Jr., her mother Ouida Griffin Wooten, her father Sam Wooten, her sister Sammie Dillard and brother Jack Wade Wooten. She began her life's Journey August 27th, 1930 in Bayou Blue, LA. Joyce (as she is commonly known) graduated from Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans, LA in 1949 at the young age of 18. She worked as a Registered Nurse for many years at Charity Hospital, in New Orleans, in the Diebert Clinic-TB ward and later became the Director of Nursing at St. Ann's Convalescent Home on Mehle Ave. in Arabi, LA. She went on to earn her Nursing Home Administrators license and managed Maison Hospitliere in the French Quarter for 17 years. Joyce was the most organized, efficient and caring RN/Administrator and was sorely missed when she retired. She also loved to travel with Jack, her husband, especially to Ireland. She was preceded in death by: her husband of 52 wonderful years-John (Jack) Michael Flynn, Jr. (she was his heart), her mother-Adele J. Buchanan Picou Basford White, her father-Oliver Joseph Picou, Sr. and her little brother- Oliver J. Picou, Jr. She is survived by her seven children and their spouses; Diana F. Breen, Kathy F.
