JOHANNESEN, INGARD O (RET)
April 21, 1922 - February 28, 2010 	

A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2010, in New 
Orleans, LA.

U. S. Magistrate Ingard Olai Johannesen (Ret) 87, died at Ollie Steele Burden 
Manor in Baton Rouge, LA on Sunday, February 28, 2010. 

He was a native of New Orleans, LA, and resided in Bush, LA for over twenty 
years. 

He was born April 21, 1922 to Ingarbright and Inger Johannesen of Haugesund, 
Norway. 

Ingard retired as U. S. Magistrate for the Eastern District of Louisiana, was a 
World War II, D-Day, and U.S. Army Veteran and was a recipient of the Bronze 
Star for Bravery. He landed June 6, 1944, on Normandy Beach as a 1st Lieutenant 
with the 453rd D.U.C.W. (Ducks) Transportation Battalion. Ingard was a graduate 
of S. J. Peters High School and Tulane University's School of Law. He was a 
member of the Norwegian Seamen's Church on Prytania Street in New Orleans, LA.

Preceeded in death by his first wife Adele Marie Mahan Johannesen. Survived by 
his former wife Betty K. Sells. Loving father of Helen Inger Johannesen and her 
fiancŽ William "Bill" Lang, Jr. and James Ingard Johannesen, Sr. and his wife 
Linda P. Johannesen. Grandfather of James Ingard Johannesen, Jr., Erik Leif 
Johannesen, and Nikolle Adele Johannesen. Stepfather of Frank and Michael Kuzma. 
Son of the late Ingarbright and Inger Johannesen. Brother of the late Ingeborg, 
Brieta, Johannes, Jenny, Borghilde, Asta, and Inger. Ingard is also survived by 
a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins, both here 
in the United States and in Norway.

The family wishes to thank Ollie Steele Burden Manor for all of their 
compassionate care showered on Ingard while he was a resident there.

Ingard was impassioned about the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans.

Lawrence E. Elsensohn, Sr. passed away on March 1, 2010. He was born June 22, 
1937 in New Orleans to the late Virgil and Loretta Fenerty Elsensohn and has 
been a resident of Covington since 1963.

The beloved husband of the late Sylvia Ann Simoneaux Elsensohn, he is survived 
by one son, Lawrence E., Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Wendi Roberts Elsensohn; his 
step-mother, Rebecca Elsensohn; two brothers, Ronald and Virgil Elsensohn; two 
step-sisters, Judy Reilly and Faye Elsensohn; four grandchildren: Troy and 
Willie Roberts, Laura Roberts, Chelsei S. Dunlap and five great-grandsons.

Mr. Elsensohn was the seventh of nine generations to serve on the New Orleans 
Police Department and was awarded the Medal of Valor for his dedication to law 
enforcement. After 23 years he retired from the NOPD and joined ranks with the 
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's office for an additional 13 years.

Coach Larry was co-founder and first president of both the Lee Road Youth 
Recreation Association and the West St. Tammany football program, which 
organized the baseball, basketball and football programs for all Lee Rd. 
residents. Coach Larry touched the lives of so many as he nicknamed every kid on 
the field.

Also, he and his wife Sylvia rode their Gold Wing for many miles and had 
countless adventures as riders with the Slidell F-Troop and The Blue Knights.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 
11:00 AM on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st 
Ave., Covington, LA 70433.

A wake is scheduled for Friday, March 5, 2010 from 6-9:00 PM with visiting hours 
beginning Saturday at 9:00 AM.

Interment at Barker-McManus Cemetery will immediately follow services.

Audrey Radford Gray passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2010.

She was born in Covington, LA to the late Thomas L. and Arena Alexander Radford. 
Preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Radford Sharp. She is survived by three 
sons: Thomas, Brian and Joel "Wayne" Gray; eight grandchildren, eight great-
grandchildren and one sister: Lillian Michel.

Age 83 years. A native and lifelong resident of Covington, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service

BUCKLEY, MICHAEL S 
September 23, 1949 - March 3, 2010 	

Michael Stephen Buckley passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the age of 
60. 

Michael was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA. 

Beloved husband of Judith Flashner Buckley. Father of Erin F., Raegan L., Ellen 
V., and Shannon J. Buckley. Son of Vivian Champagne Buckley and the late Thomas 
Stewart Buckley, Jr. Brother of Colleen B. Hufft and the late Thomas S. Buckley, 
III. Son-in-law of Doris Lestelle Flashner and the late Rudolph George Flashner. 
Brother-in-law of David M. Hufft and uncle of Jeffrey, Nicholas, David, Jr. and 
Cody Hufft. Nephew of Shirley Buckley McCaffery and Stewart J. Buckley.

Michael graduated from Holy Cross High School and attended the University of 
Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette. He served in the U.S. Army and was a 
Vietnam War Veteran earning a purple heart. He was the owner and operator of 
Buckley International, Inc. and Michael's, A Coffee Bar, in the French Quarter. 
He was a member of Green Coffee Association, Southern Coffee Association, and 
the New Orleans Board of Trade Association. He was also a former member of Tally 
Ho Club and Little Lake Club. Along with being a coffee-cupping expert, Michael 
was a gourmet chef at heart, an appreciator of fine art, an aspiring music 
producer and manager, an avid hunter and fisherman, and a teller of incessantly 
bad jokes. Michael was quite the individualist, but he touched the lives of many 
with his kindness and generosity, all while maintaining his sharp brand of 
humor. He will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends, also employees of the Orleans Parish Civil Sheriff's 
Office, are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 
6666 Spanish Fort Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124 on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 
12:30 pm. Visitation at church from 10:30 am until service time. Arrangements by

Joyce Rose Varenholt Eberhardt, 81, of Slidell, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 
2010.

She was the beloved Wife of John D. Eberhardt; mother of Dennis Joseph Eberhardt 
(Susan); sister of Sylvia Heard, the late Henry J. Varenholt and Lawrence 
Varenholt. She is also survived by three grandchildren and eight great-
grandchildren.

She was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Slidell. She was an 
avid bowler, spending many hours bowling with her beloved husband John. She won 
the Louisiana State Matchgame Singles Championship in 1960.

Relatives and friends are invite to attend the funeral service at 10 a.m. 
tomorrow at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1050 Robert Blvd., Slidell. 
Visitation is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. today at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause

Maurice "Mudbug" Clyde Ezell Sr., 86, of Lacombe, passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 
2010, at the Louisiana Heart Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Rosa Lee Bailey Ezell and by the first marriage to 
the late Marcell Craddock Ezell; father of Clyde M. Ezell Jr., Barbara E. 
Jennings, Bridgett Sheppard, Brian Easley and the late Roy Ezell; brother of 
Milton Ezell, the late Ermis, Ray and Homer Ezell. He is also survived by nine 
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He retired after 27 years as a welding foreman for J. Ray McDermott. He was an 
avid sportsman, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Honaker Funeral Home, Slidell, with the 
Rev. Jay Yarbrough, officiating. The interment was in Forest Lawn Cemetery. 
Arrangements were by Honaker Funeral Home, Inc., Slidell.

Mary Margaret Conlin O'Hara, March 3, 2010.

Raised in Monroe, LA, she lived most of her adult life in New Orleans. Her 
career as an elementary school teacher in the New Orleans public and parochial 
school systems was long and successful. She was also an avid reader and cross 
word puzzle enthusiast.

She is predeceased by her father, Maurice Conlin and two sisters, Jan Robin and 
Christine Wright. She is survived by her mother, Louise Wood Conlin; three 
daughters: Kathleen O'Hara Sides, Erin O'Hara Birchall, Jennifer O'Hara; two 
sons-in-law, David Sides and Rusty Birchall and five grandchildren: Cecelia 
Frances Palermo, Margaret "Maggie" Louise Sides, Emma Katherine Sides, Joseph 
Birchall V and Benjamin William Birchall.

Friends and family are invited to attend memorial services at the Pontchartrain 
Yacht Club in Mandeville, LA on Monday March 8, 2010 at 11:00 AM.

Anthony O'Neil (Paige) and the late Stephan DuPuy; daughter of the late Vernon 
and Phyllis Messier and sister of Karen Messier and Vernon Messier (Ann). She is 
also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Gladys B. Smith, 79, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010.

She was the beloved wife of the late Norman Smith; mother of Fran Kinsey, and 
Elizabeth Honeycutt; daughter of the late Henry and Frances Bell; and the sister 
of Thelma Ryals, the late Daisy Laster, Lawrence Bell and Christine Ryals. She 
is also survived by four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, 
nephews and other relatives.

She was a native of Mobile, Ala., a longtime resident of Theodore, Ala., and a 
resident of Pearl River for the past two years.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the graveside service 
at 1 p.m. today at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mobile. A visitation will

John Thomas Stang Sr., 86, passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010.

He was the beloved husband of the Late Joyce Fitzgibbons Stang; father of John 
T. "Jack" Stang Jr., Julie S. Damiano, Janice A. Stang, Joseph E. Stang and the 
late Jeffrey A. Stang; brother of Mary Heil, Marguerite Hohm, Barbara 
Richardson, Norma Stang, Thomas Stang, David Stang, the late James Stang and Sr. 
Dorothy Stang, SNS de N. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven 
great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Dayton, Ohio, and a resident of Slidell for the past 45 
years. He retired as a Purchasing Director from the Housing Authority of New 
Orleans. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a lieutenant, during World War 
II in the European theatre.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. W. (in Forest 
Lawn Cemetery), Slidell, to be followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Our Lady

Robert George Williamson, age 73, passed away March 3, 2010.

Beloved husband of 52 years to Pat Geoghegan Williamson, father of Robert Mike 
Williamson (Shar), Julianne Chappuis (James), and Linda Kieffer (David). 
Grandfather of Travis (Amanda), Allison, Kelsey and Jessica Chappuis, Tyler, 
Joseph, and Caroline Kieffer, and great-grandfather of Michelle Chappuis. He was 
preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Eva K. Williamson, and his 
brother, John Williamson Jr. Other surviving family members include sister Eva 
Mae Jones (Tom), sister-in-law Margaret Williamson, brother-in-law Roy Pepper 
Geoghegan (Barbara) and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Bob was a native New Orleanian and resident of Mandeville for the past 32 years. 
He graduated from Fortier high school in 1954 and Tulane University with a B.S. 
in Geology. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, the New Orleans 
Geological Society, and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He was 
a loyal supporter of Tulane football and baseball, as well as a proud Saints fan 
who attended the first home game in Tulane stadium and lived to see them fulfill 
their dream. A lifelong geologist, he enjoyed rock hunting, traveling, sailing, 
running, and spending time with his extended family and many close friends. The 
family would like to express appreciation to the congregation of St. Timothy 
UMC, Kathleen Montgomery and other devoted caregivers, and the staff of 
Lakeshore Hospice.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at St. Timothy 
United Methodist Church, 335 Asbury Dr. in Mandeville. Visitation will on 
Saturday, March 6, 2010 beginning at 9:30 with the service at 11:00.

Mitchell Anthony Boone died Thursday March 4, 2010. He was born May 30, 1963 in 
Jefferson Parish and was a longtime resident of Covington, LA, with his most 
recent residence in Ballston Spa, New York.

The beloved son of Antoinette Palmere Boone and the late Donald Joseph Boone, He 
is survived by his son, Nicholas Aaron Keller; his beloved fiancŽe and longtime 
companion, Lisa Beth Pritchett; many cherished uncles, aunts, cousins, dear 
friends and his good horse, Bud. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: 
Clarence & Agnes Boone, Helen Boone Larmeu & Martin Larmeu, Paul & Camelle 
Palmere.

Mitchell enjoyed an extensive and rich history in the thoroughbred horse racing 
industry and most recently worked in Saratoga Springs, NY for the New York 
Racing Association as a Backstretch field trainer under John Veitch, American 
Hall of Fame Thoroughbred horse trainer and State of Kentucky Thoroughbred 
Racing Commissioner. Mitchell was a joyous force of life and will be greatly 
missed by everyone he encountered throughout his life.

The time of visitation and service will be held Friday, March 12, 2010 from 
11:00 AM until Noon at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, 
LA 70433.

Graveside services and interment will begin at 1:30 PM at Garden of Memories on 
Airline Highway in Metairie, LA.

still one of the people I love the most I wish we had more time together but I

Joseph Lawrence Colgin, 61, of Pearl River, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 
2010. 

He was a wildlife agent, singer and a local entertainer for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years Bobbie Jean Colgin. He was also the 
loving father of three sons, Bobby Joe, Michael A. and James A. Colgin; and 
devoted grandfather of four grandchildren, Dillon, Shelby, Damon and Addison 
Colgin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Maxine Colgin; stepfather, 
Claude Pittman; and brother, Gary Colgin.

Dirk Johannes Egge, 72, departed this life Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at his 
residence in Pearl River after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Dirk was born in Utrecht, Holland, to the late Wilhemina Lepair and Wilhelm 
Egge. He was a marine engineer by trade. Dirk sailed all over the world for 
Chevron for many years.

Dirk emigrated to the United States in 1979 and became a marine surveyor and 
consultant. At the time of his death, he was employed as a marine consultant by 
Linea Peninsula in Panama City, Fla. He was a dedicated and loving husband, 
father, grandfather, and friend to many. His zest for life and humor will be 
deeply missed by many of us.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elisabeth Egge; daughter Angelique 
Daigle and son in law Neal Daigle, daughter Monique Stiegler and son in law 
Scott Stiegler; and son, Jeroen Egge. He is also survived by five grandchildren, 
Nicole Dodd, Christopher Dodd, Zachary Stiegler, Grant Stiegler and Leo Egge; 
and one great grandchild, Emmalyn Rupe.

A celebration of his life ceremony will be held from 2-4 p.m. tomorrow at 
Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. W., Slidell. For more funeral information

Robert Andrew (Bobby) Gibbs passed away on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the age of 
79. 

Bobby was a native of Bossier City, LA and a resident of Slidell, LA since 1963. 
Beloved husband of Joyce M. Gibbs. Father of Robert Terry Gibbs and Mitzi Gay 
Gibbs Norris. Brother of Lola Grosjean, Buddy Gibbs, Sondra Robinson, and Gary 
Gibbs. Grandfather of Carole, Michelle, Glen, Bethany, and Jared. Great 
grandfather of Joshua, Zachary, Brianna, Katelynn, Brielle, Logan, Victoria,

Robert "Bob" Daniel Hutson, U.S. Coast Guard (Ret.) of Pearl River, went on to 
be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at 69.

He was the beloved husband for the past 31 years of Grace Cortazzo Hutson; 
devoted father of Robert D. Hutson Jr., "J" Forest Hutson II, Christopher A. 
Hutson and the late Thomas Edward Hutson and granddad of Dan, Bailee, Brandi, 
Brittany and Cameron Hutson.

Bob served his country for 20 years with the U.S. Coast Guard and retired as a 
chief storekeeper. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Bob was called into the 
ministry late in life and served as a minister in the United Methodist Church. 
After his retirement from the UMC, he continued to serve the Lord in many local 
churches, and was a current member and Deacon of Community Christian Church. He 
was a member of the USCG Chief Petty Officers Association, Disabled American 
Veterans and the Louisiana Wildfowl Carvers and Collectors Guild.

Funeral services were held yesterday at Community Christian Church, Slidell.

Interment was in the Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, Miss.

Helen Kikendall, 81, of Hattiesburg, Miss., passed away March 1, 2010, at 
Forrest General Hospital. 

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jerry Kikendall of Hattiesburg; son, 
Randy Kikendall of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Virgina Loggins, Evelyn Loggins, 
both of Cut Off and JoAnn Thrasher of Pearl River; brother, Arron B. Loggins of 
Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dessie Loggins.

Helen was an accountant, who retired after 30 years and also a retired postal 
worker. She was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church.

Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. today at the Moore Funeral Chapel in 
Hattiesburg. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery. Moore Funeral Home, 
Hattiesburg, is in charge of arrangements

Clinton Ledford, 91, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at his grandson's 
residence in Pearl River. 

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pearl River, and an avid collector of 
antiques and other items.

Ledford is survived by a daughter, Janice L. Ledford; a sister, Naomi Balio; 
three grandchildren, Sonny Hodgson, III, Ricky Hodgson, and Lisa Hodgson; eight 
great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle Ledford; parents, Homer Ledford 
and Rita Posey; and brother, Aaron Ledford.

Funeral services will start at 10 a.m. today at D.T. Williams Funeral Home 67525 
Louisiana Highway 41, Pearl River with the Rev. Alvin Waller officiating. 
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Interment to follow at Hickory Memorial 
Gardens, Pearl River, where he will be laid at rest next to his wife of 70 
years, Estelle Ledford.

Elves Graden Myers, 89, of Talisheek passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2010. 

He was a member and chairman of the Deacons of Evans Creek Baptist Church and he 
was a deacon at Talisheek Baptist Church from 1957-2004 until its closure. He 
was a welder during World War II, and a service mechanic and tree improvement 
for Crown Zellarbach. He also owned and operated Myers Service Station in 
Talisheek from 1955-1974.

He is survived by four children, Donna Trascher, Sharon Frierson, Carl William 
Myers, and Glenn Cristodero; seven grandchildren, Tonja, Eric, Rodney, Jennifer, 
Misty, Casey, Karalee, Trevor, Courtney and great-grandchildren, Dustin, Austin, 
Breanna, Dillon, Tanner, Emily, Colby and Kailey. He is preceded in death by his 
wife, Ruth Myers; granddaughter Wendy; great-grandson Caleb; brother Alton T. 
Myers and three sisters Edwena Myers Lennox, Orelia Stockstill, and Mamie "Tee 
Wee" Millet.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Williams Funeral Home, 67525 
Louisiana Highway 41, Pearl River. Visitation is from 6-10 p.m. Interment will 
follow at Carpenter Cemetery, Bush. Brother Clifford Anglin. Brother Carl Myers

Zachary Todd Pennington, 21, of Slidell, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010. 

Zachary was born July 14, 1988, in Slidell to Todd Westin Pennington and Linda 
Gail Butters Galloway. He loved spending time with his dad outside whether it 
was canoeing, camping, fishing, riding 4-wheelers or just hanging out.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Linda Gail Galloway; and step-grandmother, 
Margie Ponson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his father and stepmother, Todd and 
Jennifer Pennington; brothers, Joshua Pennington (wife, Kellie) and Blake 
Pennington; maternal grandparents, Paula Butters and Randy Thompson and Edward 
Butters; paternal grandparents, Georgia and Les Chapman, Roger and Jeanette 
Pennington and stepgrandfather, Joe Ponson Sr. He is also survived by many 
loving family members and friends.

A memorial service will be at noon tomorrow at New Jerusalem Praise and Worship

many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents John J. (Dooley)

Patrick Dennis Walsh, Ph.D, a longtime resident of Slidell, passed away 
unexpectedly at his home Feb. 28, 2010. 

Pat was born and raised in New Orleans, one of five children born to the late 
Edward and Zoe Rita Walsh and was the beloved husband of Tere Mares for 32 
years.  

He was a loving father to his children, Christen Roberts, her husband Jeff and 
the late Matthew Patrick Walsh.  He was also a very loving grandfather to 
Carolina Joy Roberts and his granddog Yaeger. Pat will forever be remembered by 
his brothers Michael, Timothy and Charles, his loving sister Patricia Walsh, as 
well as his numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, along with countless other 
friends and family whom were blessed to know him. 

Pat graduated from Loyola University New Orleans with a bachelor's degree in 
criminal justice in 1978 and a master's degree in criminal justice in 2002.  In 
2006, he also earned his doctorate in the administration of justice from the 
University of Southern Mississippi.  He was an assistant professor at Loyola 
University New Orleans in the Department of Criminal Justice and was recently 
awarded the position of Associate Chair for the department.  He was a forensic 
criminologist having over 25 years experience in the private security and loss 
prevention sectors, specializing in internal theft, robberies and the thought 
process of robbery offenders.

He was also a state-licensed private investigator, a graduate of the Reid 
Interview & Interrogation School and a former licensed polygraph examiner.  Pat 
was a member of the Academy of Criminal Justice Science, the American Society of 
Criminology, the European Society of Criminology, the Homicide Research Working 
Group and the International Association of Investigative Psychology.  He was a 
published author of over 20 articles in journals, textbooks and encyclopedias 
relative to his professional career.

Pat loved to entertain family and friends with his many stories and crazy 
antics.

He was full of endless knowledge and was forever putting others' needs ahead of 
his own.  He inspired so many by his enthusiastic teaching style; his 
willingness to go the extra mile for anyone with a desire to learn or to better 
themselves.  He was deeply passionate about law enforcement, ethics, history, 
football and his number one role, that of family man.  For many years, he 
coached his children's baseball, softball and soccer teams; volunteered at 
school events; and could always be relied upon to "make it happen."  Pat touched 
the lives of many people with his kindness and generosity, and maintained his 
trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. 

A Mass will be celebrated at noon today at St. Margaret Mary Church, 1050 Robert 
Boulevard, Slidell, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.  Internment will be 
held at a later date for immediate family.

Memorial Scholarship in Criminal Justice, c/o Loyola University New Orleans,

James E. Anderson, 58, of Carriere, Miss., passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010, 
in Slidell.

He was the beloved husband of Teresa W. Anderson since 2003; father of Derek A. 
Anderson of Jackson, Miss.; stepfather of Jason R. Delatte and wife Aubrey and 
Jacqueline M. Delatte; son of the late Elmer and Mildred Anderson; and brother 
of Bruce and Bill Anderson. He is also survived by one grandchild, Jalynn 
Delatte.

He was a native of Greensburg, Pa., and a resident of Picayune and Slidell area 
for the past 35 years. He was a retired NASA employee of John C. Stennis Space 
Center after 31 years of service.

Age 64 years, he was a native of Shreveport, LA and a resident of the 
Covington/Mandeville area for the past 41 years. A United States Air Force 
veteran, he served during the Vietnam Era. He was a past president of the 
Covington Rotary Club, former member of the Covington Jaycees, and was a member 
of the Vestry and Senior Warden at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Mandeville.

U.S. Veteran W.L. "Johnny" Epton passed away on March 5, 2010.

He was born June 5, 1927 in Nashville, Arkansas to the late J. Cecil and Alty 
Humphrey Epton. The beloved husband of Aurora Cox Epton, he is survived by three 
sons: Michael (Sally), Terrence (Sandra) and Scott Epton; his sister, Vivian 
Libby of New Hampshire; two grandchildren, Eric and Abigail Epton; five step 
grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren. He is the brother-in-law of 
Pat Cox and Doris Cox Simon and was preceded in death by his brother, Chares 
Epton.

A resident of Big Branch for over 30 years, Johnny was a member of the Big 
Branch Civic Club. He worked for American Standard for nearly 40 years and 
belonged to the Local #220 International Potters and Allied Workers Union. 
Wounded during WW II, he served his country as a Merchant Marine and held a 
membership in the Seafarers' International Union.

Doug Jeansonne, 67, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010. 

He was the beloved husband of Evi Jeansonne for the past 42 years; father of 
Kristina Jeansonne Braud and husband Mark and Jean-Pierre Jeansonne and wife 
Kristina; son of the late Harold and Bernice Jeansonne; brother of Nancy 
Jeansonne Webre and the late Harold Michael Jeansonne Jr. He is also survived by 
four grandchildren, Christopher Douglas Jeansonne, Brianna Elizabeth Jeansonne, 
Alyssa Nicole Jeansonne and Noelle Elisabeth Braud.

He was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell for the past 20 years. 
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. After living 
overseas for many years, Doug settled in Slidell where he began the business of 
Pools 'N Stuff. Doug was a wonderful husband and father who will be dearly 
missed.

Eli J. Stevens, 85, of Slidell, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at 
Northshore Regional Medical Center in Slidell. 

He was the beloved husband of the late Kitty Stevens; companion of Bernice 
Crowell; father of Caroline Mitchell and husband Ralph Mitchell; son of the late 
Anthony and Betsy Stevens and brother of Gilbert Stevens. He is also survived by 
six grandchildren, Julie Mitchell, Tuff Mitchell, Samantha Mitchell, Steve 
Stevens, Randy Stevens and Rusty Stevens and numerous great-grandchildren, 
relatives and friends. He was a native of New York and a longtime resident of 
Slidell. Mr. Stevens served his community as a well-respected paving contractor.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Friday.

Interment will be held at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chicago.

The Rev. Jim Long, pastor of the Vineyard Church of Slidell, graduated to higher 
glory Sunday, March 7, 2010, around 8 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Long; two children, Jamie Long and Melissa 
Milazzo; two grandchildren, Trinity and Tyler Milazzo; two brothers, Johnny and 
Bill Long, and his mother, Mary Leonard Long. He is also survived by the most 
wonderful church family possible.

Jim and Betty served the community since 1974 first as pastors of Trinity 
Presbyterian Church for eight years, New Life Community Church and finally 
Vineyard Church of Slidell - part of the Association of Vineyard Churches - 
since 1985. Jim served many people as a pastor and shepherd in the community for 
36 years and has left a legacy of love and service to continue for years to 
come.

There will be a memorial service at 3 p.m. today at the Vineyard Church, 61025 
U.S. Highway 11, Slidell. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m.

Carrie Jean Storch, 22, of Pearl River, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010.

She was the beloved daughter of Lisa and Kip Langston and the late Eric Storch; 
sister of Matthew Storch and Katy Storch; granddaughter of Elizabeth "Betty" 
Batta and the late John Batta, Jean Storch and the late Dale Storch; aunt of 
Hali, Bethany and Tyler Storch; niece of Kevin Bailey, David Storch, Jill and 
Dale Large, Julie and Mike Madison, John Batta, III and Michael Batta.

She was a native of Savannah, Ga., and a resident of Pearl River for the past 
six years. Carrie was a graduate of Pearl River High School in 2006.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at 
7 p.m. Friday at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. W. (in Forest Lawn 
Cemetery) Slidell. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Interment will be private.

Clarence E. "Vic" Vicroy, 86, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010, at his home.

He was the beloved husband of the late Eileen Y. Vicroy; father of seven 
daughters, Jane Scott, Beverly Kozelka, Mary Vicroy, Catherine Stratton, Ann 
Ribbeck, Theresa Vicroy and Valerie Vicroy; grandfather of Matthew, Travis, 
Christopher, Mark, Jennifer, Mary Catherine, Anna, Kelly and William; and great-
grandfather of Hunter. Brother of Dorothy Vicroy and Jane Ricciardelli.

He was born in Philadelphia and raised in Honolulu. Vic traveled extensively in 
his adult life. Vic's 42 years in government was divided between military and 
civilian service. Vic was at Pearl Harbor with his dad, who was a U.S. Navy 
submariner, on the morning of Dec. 7, 1941, and soon after joined the Army Air 
Corps.

He flew in B-17s in the European Theater during World War II as a 
navigator/bombardier, and remained in the service after VE Day.

He served in the U.S. Air Force in Air Sea Rescue and in the Air Weather 
Service, retiring after 21 years of service in 1964 as a Lt Colonel.

Vic's civilian career was marked with two major achievements. First the opening 
and operation of the Slidell River Forecast Office in the early 1970s and 
second, being selected to lead one of the most complex National Weather Service 
forecast offices in 1983.

Recipient of many awards, including the Dept. of Commerce Silver Medal Award for 
scientific achievement, he retired from civil service in 1985. Vic and Eileen 
chose Slidell in which to retire and they worked diligently to help build their 
church.

Vic felt his greatest accomplishment was becoming a deacon in the Catholic 
Church and serving at St. Margaret Mary from 1983 to 1997.

Vic was a volunteer deputy sheriff, amateur radio operator and aspiring cook. He 
also enjoyed traveling, classical music and reading.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral Mass at 
3:30 p.m. today at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1050 Robert Blvd., Slidell 
Visitation at the church is from 1:30 a.m. to service time. Interment is in the 
Biloxi National Cemetery at 11 a.m. tomorrow.

Lydia Mercedes Ferrera Duignan, 96, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010, following 
a brief illness. She was born March 17, 1913, in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony Ferrera and Maria Louise 
Lucha; her brother, Cesar Lucha of Ocala, Fla.; her sisters, Delores F Galich of 
Guatemala City, Guatemala, and Rosario Gallardo of San Pedro Sula.

She was the beloved wife of the late Phillip Francis Duignan who died on Nov. 
23, 2004. Their longtime home and all its contents were destroyed in 2005 by 
Hurricane Katrina. After a brief period in California with her great nephew, she 
insisted on returning to Slidell, to be near the interment of her husband with 
thoughts of being buried beside him when God called to her.

She is survived by a nephew, Will Arnoldo Gallardo Lucha of San Pedro Sula; and 
great-nephews, Will Gallardo of California and Manfredo Gallardo of San Pedro 
Sula; and by great-great nieces and great nephews. She had resided at Live Oak 
Village for the last five years, blessing the residents and staff with her 
lively personality and kindness.

The funeral Mass was held yesterday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 
Slidell, celebrated by the Rev. Frank Lipps. Interment was in Forest Lawn 
Cemetery. Honaker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

After a short illness, Evelyn "Lynntune" Cornelia Cousin Evans was called home 
by the Lord Monday, March 8, 2010. The late Joseph "Gilbert" Cousin and 
Josephine "Frances" Pichon Cousin were blessed with their eighth child of 13, 
Evelyn Cornelia Oct. 19, 1939. Evelyn married Henry Evans Jr. Oct. 11, 1958, and 
into this union five children were born, four sons and one daughter. She was a 
graduate of St. Tammany High School. She worked as a nurse's aide at the Lacombe 
Nursing Home

She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory four sons, Henry III (Carletta) of 
Slidell, Michael (Lolita) of Lacombe, Clinton of Bedico and Bernard Evans of 
Richwood; one daughter, Toni (Freddie) Brown of Magnolia, Miss.; six 
granddaughters, Fredrecka, Stacey, Jatera, Melissa, Alicia and Natalie; six 
grandsons, Sean, Fredrick Sr. (Tiffany), Tyler, Jatory, Henry IV and Devin and 
seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Eunice 
(Walter) Lymuel of Slidell, Mary Theresa (Ervin) Faciane and Varonica Alma Braud 
of California; three brothers Richard, Edwin (Isabella)and Leo Cousin of Slidell 
and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons, Steven Michael Evans 
and Tradell Scott Evans Sr. and six brothers, Curtis, Robert, Bernard, Harold, 
Joseph and Calvin Cousin.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at St. Genevieve Catholic 
Church 58189 Louisiana Highway 433, Slidell. Visitation will be two hours prior 
to the service. Interment will follow at Slidell Memorial Cemetery. Services 
entrusted to Doyle's Funeral Home, Slidell.

KING

James L. King, 77, passed away Feb. 9, 2010, at his residence in Pearl River. 

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 

Mr. King worked on the Apollo Program at NASA, and he worked with Mason 
Chamberlin, who designed the first automated grain loader. He was an avid 
archer, hunter and fisherman. 

He is survived by eight children, Richard, Randy, Rodney, Robert, Royce, Ryan, 
and Pamela King and Patience Breaux. He is also survived by two sisters, 
Charlotte Larsen and Vivian Lindberg and 15 grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to attend the graveside services at 10 a.m. 
tomorrow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, in Slidell. There will be a memorial service 
immediately following at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to 
honor his life.

MCDERMOTT

Joseph Daniel McDermott passed away Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at the age of 62. 

Joseph was a native of Round Brook, N.J., and a resident of Lacomb. He was the 
beloved father of Jason Merriman; son of the late Rose Marie Buckley McDermott 
and George Edward McDermott and dear friend of John Copeland.

Patricia Cecilia Platta passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 11. 

Her devoted husband of 45 years, Victor, was by her side. Pat was preceded in 
death by a son, Scott Arthur; her parents Cecilia and Arthur Van Ness. Pat is 
survived by her lifetime sweetheart Victor Platta, and her sons Michael and 
Stephen, and daughter-in-law Kristin Platta. She will be especially missed by 
her grandchildren, Alex and Audrey, who she proudly spoiled. Pat was a loving, 
caring wife and an exceptional mother to her three sons.

Pat was born in Newark, New Jersey on March 27, 1942 and grew up in Belmar. Her 
younger brother, Arthur still resides in New Jersey. Pat met Victor at NAD 
Earle, while both were employed on the Navy base and they were married April 10, 
1964. Pat dutifully endured the life of a "navy wife" and was adept at creating 
a new home each time the family was transferred. She was a talented cook and 
took pride in her talent in decorating her home. Pat will be missed by her 
sisters and brothers-in-law, and her nieces and nephews. She took great pleasure 
in sending and receiving Christmas gifts with Steve Adams, one of her brothers-
in-law.

Pat will be missed by her many close friends. All of whom received a bounty of 
birthday and holiday cards she constantly mailed out each year. Pat was blessed 
with the ability to make lifelong friends and will be missed by everyone who was 
lucky enough to have known her; she was kind, loyal, and had a highly developed 
sense of humor. She was the first to laugh at herself and the first person to 
help others in need. Pat was generous in life, and as an organ donor, was just 
as generous in passing. Pat considered herself extremely fortunate to share a 
special bond with the "Slender Ladies". She enjoyed many special memories with 
her newfound sisters she met after moving to Mandeville.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held on 
Monday, March 15 at the E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue in 
Covington, LA. The memorial service will take place at 3pm with a gathering on 
Monday beginning at 2pm.

A committal service will be held on Tuesday, March 16 at Barancas National 
Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida at 11am.

Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Tina Redmond Sosa; son of Blanca Fernandez Colon 
and the late Mario Sosa and brother of Neff Gomez. He is also survived by his 
nephews and nieces, Kody, Nathan, Sierra and Isabella.

He was a native of Puerto Rico and a long time resident of Louisiana. He was a 
registered nurse employed by Humana.

SUKMAN

Mary Pauline Sukman, 97, died March 7, 2010, at River Oaks Residential Care, 
Port Royal, S.C. Sukman was born Feb. 5, 1913, in Woonsocket, R.I. She moved to 
Beaufort, S.C. in 2006, after residing in Slidell for 25 years.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and John Payne of 
Beaufort; son and daughter-in-law, William and Barbara Sukman of Gulf Shores, 
Ala.; son and daughter-in-law Arthur and Wilma Sukman of Houston, nine 
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Michael Sukman.

Family will receive friends at 1 p.m. today at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 
Beaufort, followed by a funeral Mass at 2 p.m. Interment will be at 4 p.m. 
tomorrow at St. Peter's Memorial Gardens in Beaufort.

Age 63 years. He served as a Covington City Councilman for many years, coached 
many age levels and sports at the Covington Recreation Center, was an avid 
bowler, fisherman and gardener. He retired as a mortgage lender. A native and 
lifelong resident of Covington, LA.

Thomas Wharton Collens, Jr. died March 13, 2010 at the age of 92.

Beloved husband of Joyce Gain Collens for 63 years; son of the late Stella 
Harang Collens and Thomas Wharton Collens; brother of Frances Collens Curtis of 
New Orleans; father of Thomas Wharton Collens III (Nancy) of Covington, LA, Nan 
Stothard (Hank) of San Juan Capistrano, CA, and the late Peter Lancaster Wharton 
Collens; grandfather of Thomas Wharton Collens IV (Mandy) of Suwanee GA, John 
"Jack" Daniel Collens of Athens GA, and Dylan Greenhoe (Annie) of Abu Dhabi, 
UAE; great-grandfather of Jack and Charlie Greenhoe.

He was an avid theater-goer and devotee of the performing arts, served with the 
U.S. State Department as American Vice Consul to the Belgian Congo (Zaire), 
where he met and married his wife, Joyce.

He was born in New Orleans and educated at Jesuit and Fortier High Schools, and 
graduated from Tulane University and Law School. He and Joyce spent many years 
in Baton Rouge, where he entered the mortgage banking business with his late 
uncle, Lancaster W Collens. He later moved to Key Biscayne, FL and retired to 
Covington in the late 1980's after serving as President of Sears Mortgage 
Corporation. For the last several years, he and Joyce have been residents of 
Christwood.

He is the great-great grandson of the founder of Covington, John Wharton 
Collins.

Services will be held at E J Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington 
LA on Wednesday, March 17 at 2:00 PM.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM.

Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens will follow services.

BURKELL

Donald Gordon Burkell, 72, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 8, 2010, at 
Slidell Memorial Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Helen Gurley Burkell; father of Michael Edward 
Burkell; son of the late Frank and Esther Burkell; brother of Sandi Decker; 
brother-in-law of Charles Decker. He is also survived by three grandchildren, 
Kaylynne Lauff, Hunter Michael Burkell and Abigail Denise Burkell.

He was a native of Chicago, a longtime resident of Panama City, Fla., and a 
resident of Slidell for the past 33 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and 
an employee of Stennis Space Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at First Baptist Church of 
Slidell, 4141 Pontchartrain Drive, Slidell. Friends may visit at 10 a.m. 
Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

William Herbert Flautt, 87, a native of New Orleans, resident of St. Bernard 
Parish for 32 years, resident of Picayune, Miss., for three years and a resident 
of Lacombe for the past 15 years, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Dubea Flautt; children, Caron 
Lynn Flautt Codina and husband Julian, and William Brian Flautt and wife 
Jennifer. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Matthew Michael Flautt and 
Andrea Elizabeth Flautt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert 
Alexander Flautt, Sr., and Bonnabel Berry Flautt; two brothers and three 
sisters.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the World War II Pacific Theatre.

He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Dominique You Lodge 468, Reggio and a member of 
Jerusalem Temple Shrine of New Orleans.

Bill was employed as a U.S. Customs inspector, a job he dearly loved until his 
retirement; and he enjoyed hunting and fishing in St. Bernard Parish with his 
family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral at noon tomorrow at 
Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. W. (in Forest Lawn Cemetery) Slidell. 
Visitation at the funeral home begins at 10 a.m.

MEINDL

Victoria "Vickie" Ann Watson Meindl, 57, died Thursday, March 11, 2010. 

Born in Rantoul, Ill., she was the daughter of Edna Lorraine Williams Watson and 
the late Robert Wray Watson. She was the wife and best friend of Eric Meindl.

Meindl graduated from Jackson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Miami
Fla., in 1973. She was a registered nurse who specialized in obstetrical and 
newborn nursing services. She was a staff nurse at Tampa General Hospital in 
Florida and Women's Hospital in Baton Rouge. She was a neonatal intensive care 
nurse at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaksa, and coordinator of the Alaska 
Newborn Transport Team. She was a full time Ob/Gyn staff nurse and weekend house 

supervisor at Slidell Memorial Hospital in Slidell and maternal/ child nursing 
director and patient quality assurance officer/HIPPA privacy officer at Hancock 
Medical Center in Bay St. Louis, Miss.

Meindl enjoyed traveling, especially trans-Atlantic ocean cruises, the 
performing arts and was a Peace Center "Peacekeeper" along with her husband.She 
loved to read, enjoyed jewelry making and briefly owned a small business, 
"Victoria's Cottage" in Waveland, Miss. She loved small children and helping 
people who needed assistance in hard times, loved animals and, with her husband, 
was a volunteer transporting cats from the Greenville Humane Society shelter to 
no-kill facilities in North Carolina.

Meindl was of the Catholic faith and was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Clare's 
Catholic Church in Waveland.

She was a past member of the Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics and 
Neonatal Nurses, past member of Coast Chorale, Mississippi Gulf Coast, and past 
member of Krewe of Nereids, Bay St. Louis.

The family would like to thank her Greenville area family and friends who 
rescued her family with comfort, shelter, supplies and replaced many lost family 
photos following Hurricane Katrina; and special thanks to the staff of 
Greenville Memorial Hospital and Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson for their 
kindness and extraordinary care.

Surviving, in addition to her mother and husband are a son, Patrick Meindl and 
his wife Rosie of Easley.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, 
Greenville, S.C., with visitation following the service until 5 p.m.

Chef Carl Dusek, 47, lost his courageous battle with cancer Monday, March 15, 
2010, at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in Jefferson.

He was the beloved fiancŽ of Elaine Brown; father of Paul Dusek (Amanda) and 
Robert Dusek; son of Camille Brady Dusek and the late Robert Dusek; brother of 
Debbie Haylett, Claudia Mercer, Anthony Dusek, Marilyn Hukill and the late Sibyl 
O'Dette Dusek. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Alexis and Madison 
Dusek and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a native of Mantua, Ohio, and a resident of Slidell since 1980. Carl was 
a former family member and chef at Ray's Bullpen in Slidell and currently a chef 
and instructor with ART Catering in Belle Chasse. Carl was a member of C.I.A. 
and enjoyed ice sculpting and fishing. Carl was considered the Best Damn Chef in 
Slidell!

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service 
from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Pinewood Country Club, 405 Country Club 
Blvd., Slidell. A memorial service will be held in Mantua, Ohio, in the near

John Andrew "Andy" Ingles, 54, of Acworth died Wednesday March 17, 2010.

Mr. Ingles was an estimator with Mauldin and Cook Fence Company and was an avid

Acworth. Sons, Andrew Christopher Ingles and Eric Conner Ingles both of Acworth.

Bruce Ronald Rivers, 61, of Slidell, passed away Monday, March 15, 2010.

He was the beloved husband of Katherine Kuss Rivers; father of Keith J. Rivers, 
Elizabeth R. Buras (Harold), Bryan P. Rivers and Ryan P. Rivers; son of Aline 
Teutsch Rivers and the late Bruce Rivers; brother of Catherine R. Vicknair 
(Peter) and Roland B. Rivers (Jeannie). He is also survived by one grandchild, 
Colby Hogan Buras. He was a native of New Orleans, a former resident of St
Bernard Parish.

Marietta Patricia Webster Sigerson ("Pat") lost her courageous battle with 
breast cancer on March 17, 2010.

Pat was born in New Orleans and lived in Covington for the past thirty-eight 
ddyears.

Pat is predeceased by her father and mother, Alfred William Webster and Marietta 
Lafaso Webster. She is survived by her beloved husband of forty-seven years, 
Bob, and her children and their spouses: Allyson Sigerson and her fiancŽ Les 
Miller, Marietta and Greg Davis, and Richard and Jennifer Sigerson. The love and 
joy of Pat's life were her two grandchildren, Ryan Sigerson and Riley Claire 
Sigerson. In addition to her children and grandchildren she is survived by her 
sisters and their spouses, Marilyn and Matt Lanasa and Darleen and Jack 
Christiansen, seven nieces and numerous cousins.

Pat graduated from Warren Easton high school in 1956 and attended Loyola 
University. She married Bob on July 16, 1963.

After her family, Pat's great passion was ballet. She began dancing at the age 
of eight and never stopped living and loving the ballet. For over fifty years, 
children of all ages in New Orleans and on the North Shore studied classical 
ballet under Miss Pat's watchful eye. Pat remained an avid supporter of ballet 
companies in New Orleans and Houston. In her last years she enjoyed nothing more 
than taking her grandchildren to the Houston Ballet's Nutcracker every 
Christmas. After retiring from ballet, Pat was active in her community. She 
volunteered for Hospice and was an active member of Mary, Queen of Peace 
Catholic Church.

Pat had many friends, some of whom she'd known for decades and others whom she 
met in recent years. They all meant the world to her. She felt blessed to have 
them and took great comfort in their company. The family would like to thank all 
of them for their presence in Pat's life.

Friends and family are invited to visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on 
Monday, March 22, 2010 at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 West 
Causeway Approach, Mandeville, Louisiana 70471. Mass of Christian Burial will 
follow at 12:00 PM. Interment will take place immediately following Mass at

Linda Joyce Barnes, a resident of native of Covington and of Berkley, Calif., 
was granted her angel wings Monday, March 8, 2010, at Aldleats Hospital of 
Berkley. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends of Oakland, 
Calif., who Linda had touched in some small way throughout her residence in 
Oakland.

She was the fifth child born to Eola Lott and the late Houston Barnes in New 
Orleans, Feb. 14, 1948.

She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memories, son, Michael Anthony 
Barnes and his wife Shawana M. Barnes; two granddaughters, Gabraielle B. Barnes 
and Mikayla R. Barnes; her mother, Eola Lott of Abita Springs; two sisters, 
Jackie B. L. Jackson and Dora L. Powell both of Abita Springs; one brother, 
Zebedee "Mike" Lott of Abita Springs; 34 nieces and nephews and many, many other 
relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Bobbie Jean Barnes and Betty Ann 
Barnes Batiste; and three brothers, Houston Jerome Barnes, Prince Albert Hogans 
and Ronnie Wayne Hogans.

Linda's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her 
understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in 
which one lives. Her gently smile brought so much joy to our family.

She attended school at Covington Rosenwald, St. Tammany Parish, and Covington 
and relocated to New Orleans in 1964, at 16. During this time she was employed 
as a food service technician and later she worked as a sales associate.

Linda lived in New Orleans for 28 years to return to the Northshore where she 
resided in Abita Springs and Bogalusa. In 2008, Linda decided to relocate to 
Oakland.

Her interests included family, sewing and reading. She devoted much of her time 
and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother.

Although she was away in another state, she gave us all such courage and hope 
and reminded us of the preciousness of life. She loved to rock and swing. She 
could spend hours rocking in her favorite chair while cuddling close to those 
she loved so much. She enjoyed music and reading. She will be missed greatly by 
her family and everyone who knew her.

U.S. Veteran Bill R. Bond passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010. He was born 
August 14, 1931 in Lumberton, MS to the late Port and Eunice Moffitt Bond and 
has been a resident of Covington for many years.

The beloved husband of Clara Holder Cooper Bond for 30 years, he is survived by 
one sister, Dorothy Cascio; two brothers, Darden and Jerry Bond all of 
Mississippi; two step daughters, Carol Cooper Walters, Debra Cooper Martineau; 
four step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; eight nieces and nine 
nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Lorina Ball.

Mr. Bond's life was a mission for Christ. His career in construction and 
dedication to the Lord Jesus Christ led him, along with his wife Clara, to 
become the founders of The Way Builders Ministry. Under their leadership, this 
work program brought many wayward souls to Christ and changed many lives.

Deacon James Britton peacefully departed this life at home, Thursday March 11, 
2010.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted caregiver, Ruth White, his church, 
family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

James was born Jan. 17, 1917, to the late John and Mary Britton in Hattiesburg, 
Miss. He attended school in the Hattiesburg area. Upon finishing school, he 
enlisted in the U.S. Army.

With an honorable discharge, James returned home to work for some time in New 
Orleans at various jobs. From New Orleans, he moved to Folsom. Here he worked 
diligently taking care of animals on a local farm. At an early age, he gave his 
life to the Lord serving as a longstanding member of the Folsom Church of God in 
Christ Church under the leadership of elders, the Revs. Watts Selmon, Freddie 
Drummond and Harold G. Moore. He was ordained a deacon and served until his 
death.

Some 23 years ago, James became ill, and he had to have an inhome care provider. 
The late Deacon Alfred White and Ruth White accepted James into their home. They 
became his caregivers and loved the responsibility God had given them. After the 
passing of Deacon White, Ruth White continued to care for and show loving 
kindness, support and hospitality to Britton.

James truly loved the Lord and liked to sing to his Lord and Savior. His 
favorite song was "99 ? Won't Do."

"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I 
have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith."
-II Timothy 4:6-7

Lorena Margaret Schouest Ciko, 90, of Slidell, passed away Monday, March 15, 
2010.

She was the beloved wife of the late Michael A. Ciko, Sr.; mother of Michael A. 
Ciko, Jr., Larry J. Ciko and Wayne C. Ciko and wife, Pamela; daughter of the 
late Fred and Linda Schouest; sister of the late Helen Saucier and Dave 
Schouest; grandmother of Rebecca Voss, Marcus Ciko, Lisa Ponti, and the late 
Laurie Leigh Ciko and great-grandmother to Glendon Voss.

She was a native of Lafourche Crossing in Lafourche Parish and a resident of 
Slidell since the 1930's. Ciko graduated from Slidell High School in 1937 and 
retired in 1982 as the administrator of finance for the city of Slidell where 
she served for 18 years. She was an active member of the "50 Year Club" of 
Slidell High School, a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church where she 
served on the Alter Society and Financial Administration for over 40 years. In 
1992, Ciko was awarded with the Order of St. Louis Medal from the Archdiocese of 
New Orleans. She was a founding member and former assistant administrator for 
the Guardians of Slidell History, a founding member of the Slidell Women's Civic 
Club and an active Cub Scout den mother.

Funeral services were held yesterday at Honaker Funeral Home, Slidell. Interment 
was in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Slidell.

David M. Darby passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Slidell Memorial 
Hospital. He was a resident of Pearl River, for the past 45 years, who worked as 
a pile driver in the construction business and was a member of Honey Island Coon 
Hunters Association for many years.

He is survived by two daughters, Tanya Morgan and Sonya Ducote and their 
husbands, Alton Morgan and Shane Ducote; two brothers, Manuel and Sidney Darby; 
five grandchildren, Natasha and Mitchell Clements, Reva Morgan, Savannah Ducote 
and Shane Ducote Jr.; and great-grandchild, Morgan "MoJo" Clements.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rossie Darby, whom he was married to for 
44 years before her death in 2008; his parents, Archie and Myra Darby; a sister, 
Evelyn Vaughn; and two brothers, Johnny Richard Darby and Aubrey Darby and 
grandchild, Alicia Morgan.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at D.T. Williams Funeral Home, in 
Hickory Memorial Gardens, 67525 Louisiana Highway 41, Pearl River, with 
visitation from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment to follow in Parker 
Cemetery, Talisheek.

He was the beloved husband of Evelyn Domangue Labourdette; son of the late Alma

Dawn Labourdette Barberio, Owen M. Labourdette and Eric C. Labourdette; father-

the late Lois Labourdette Bossier. He is also survived by seven grandchildren

retired court reporter for the Civil District Court in New Orleans.

David Montero, Jr. passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010.

He is survived by a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Bratcher; a son, David Bratcher; a 
sister Elizabeth Montero; a brother, Sidney Montero; four grandchildren, a niece

Age 61 years, he was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of 
Donaldsonville, LA. He was a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the United States 
Army. He was a member of the Donaldsonville American Legion Post 98 and the 
Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Beloved husband of 55 years to LaVerne McCannon Kidd; loving father of Melani K.

her husband Melvin; grandfather to Lacie Lee, Magen, Chad, Rebecca (Becky), 
Brittney, Courtney, Jameson, Christopher and Ian. He was also survived by nine 
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Mays Kidd, his 
father, Willie Kidd, and two brothers, William and Wiley Kidd.

Age 75 years, he was a native of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and a resident of Folsom, LA 
for the past 26 years. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in the 
82nd Airborne.

Ralph R. "Jack" Spilmann, 81, of Slidell, passed away Friday, March 19, 2010, at 
his home in Slidell. 

He was the beloved husband of the late Rose Spilmann; father of Robert J. 
Spilmann, Jackie Dupont and husband Gerard, Jr., Robin Zeringue and husband 
Stanley, Richard R. Spilmann and wife Dawna and James J. Spilmann; son of the 
late Ralph and Mary Spilmann and brother of Alberta Cramer and Lawrence and 
Bobby Spilmann and the late Joseph, Geraldine and Gary Spilmann. He is also 
survived by nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and 
nephews.

He was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell since the 1950's, Mr. 
Spilmann was a retired locomotive engineer for the New Orleans Public Belt for 
44 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and 
after his retirement he was a volunteer at Slidell Memorial Hospital.

Eunice McGilvra Rusch, 85, a retired chemist and homemaker, died on March 22, 
2010. She was born on November 11, 1924 in Elroy, Wisconsin. She graduated from 
Baraboo High School and at the University of Wisconsin was the only female 
chemistry graduate in the Class of 1946. After graduation, she was an organic 
chemist with Pittsburgh Plate Glass and a model for Evinrude Outboard Motors, 
Link-Belt Equipment and Pittsburgh Plastics. In 1951, she married her high 
school sweetheart, John H. Rusch, Jr. and they moved to New Orleans. In New 
Orleans, she was an organic chemist with the USDA Southern Regional Research 
Lab.

She was a member of the St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church; President of the 
P.E.O., Chapter "Q"; President of the Lady Golfers Association of Metairie 
County Club; and President of the St. Martin's Mother's Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents Esther Alwin McGilvra and Lawrence D. 
McGilvra. She is survived by her husband John H. Rusch, Jr.; and four children, 
David William Rusch (Donna), Richard Lawrence Rusch (Louise), James Allen Rusch 
(Catherine) and Nancy Rusch Wenzel (Clinton). She is also survived by her 
grandchildren, Robert William Rusch, Margaret Reed Rusch, Christopher David 
Smelt, Justina Simmons Rusch, Robert Creswell Rusch, John Clinton Wenzel IV, and 
Lauren Rusch Wenzel.

He was a U.S. Army WW II veteran, retired Boat Captain and a Police sergeant for the Orleans Levee District. He was a charter member of Flotilla 49 U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary since 1960 from which he retired after 44 years. He was a native of New Orleans where he attended S.J. Peters High School and Magnolia Business College, lived in Marrero and moved to Ponchatoula.

He was a native of Chase, Kan., and a resident of Slidell since 1963. He served 
his country in the American, Asian Pacific and European Theatres with the U.S. 
Coast Guard during World War II. He received a degree in architecture from 
Kansas State University and he retired from both Boeing and Martin Marietta as a 
Facilities Engineer. He was a parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 
in Slidell where he was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and the 
Slidell Noon Lions Club.

a.m. tomorrow at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 365 Westchester Place,

Mary Elizabeth Matthews Jones passed away in her home at Christwood Retirement 
Community in Covington, Louisiana on Thursday, March 25, 2010. She was the 
beloved wife of Louis M. Jones and the mother of Jane Reed Meyer and the late 
Gilpin Lyman Reed.

Mrs. Jones was born June 21, 1918 in Buford, Missouri and she was a graduate of 
Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She lived all of her adult life in New 
Orleans, Louisiana. She was a member and president of the Orleans Club, a 
charter member of the Stuart Clan, a member of the New Orleans Fine Arts Society 
and was active in many civic affairs.

During her lifetime in New Orleans, Mrs. Jones was a member of Christ Church 
Cathedral. She transferred her membership to Christ Church Covington when she 
moved to Christwood Retirement Community in 1996.

There will be a private burial at the Garden of Memories in New Orleans.

She was a waitress at Ole Hickory CafŽ and was well known in the community of

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ronald "Nick" Hyman, mother, Cora 
Ranlett Blankenship Beach, Son, Ron and Lisa Hyman, and their three sons, 
Nicholas, Blake and Ronnie. Eleanor also leaves behind four siblings, Semmes 
Blankenship, Cora Macormic, Lynn Mahoney, and Barbara Ferguson.

Petie will be remembered for efforts in the many civic organizations; Hancock 
County Tourism, Dunwoody North Garden Club, Pass Christian Garden Club, Bay 
Waveland Garden Club and Gather Ye Rosebuds.

Jacob Calvin Lamarque, born July 6, 1991, 18, died peacefully at University 
Hospital in Birmingham, Ala., Monday, March 22, 2010. 

Thank you to all doctors, nurses and staff and UAB that took care of Jacob.

He is survived by his parents, Jeff C. Lamarque and Justine McElroy Lamarque, 
his sister Valerie, his dog Jacy; maternal grandparents, Jake and Pat McElroy; 
paternal grandfather, John C. Lamarque Sr.; and by many loving uncles, aunts and 
cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Joey Carr Lamarque.

A lifelong resident of Slidell, he recently graduated from Slidell High School, 
Class of 2009 the 100th graduating class at SHS. Jacob's future plan was to 
become a pediatric cardiac nurse to help other children with heart disease. 
Jacob was an organ recipient of a heart in July 2006 and kidney in June 2009. 
Jacob was a member of First Baptist Church, Slidell. He was honored as Grand 
Marshall of the Krewe of Dionysus 2010. Jacob loved fishing, bowling, LSU and 
Saints football, and was an avid movie watcher. Jacob attended Camp Bon Coeur a 
heart camp for children with congenital heart defects from age 8 to 16.

He will be greatly missed by his family and everyone that knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation from 5-9 p.m. today 
at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd., W., Slidell, and the funeral at 11 
a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 4141 Pontchartrain Drive, Slidell, with

Delores Alfano Leinbaugh, 66, of Picayune, Miss., passed away Tuesday, March 23, 
2010, at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans.

Delores, a native of Independence, moved here from Slidell 32 years ago. She was 
a teacher at Calvary Baptist School in Slidell.

She is survived by her husband, Michael T. Leinbaugh of Picayune; one son, 
Thomas Matthew Leinbaugh of Michigan; two daughters, Melissa Leinbaugh of 
Picayune and Donna Toler of Alabama; one brother, Edward Vincent Alfano of 
Nevada; one sister, Joan Stafford of Satsuma; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Matthew Thomas Leinbaugh.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Picayune Funeral Home, with 
the Rev. Charles Starnes officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Interment

William Edward Armington, 63, of Slidell, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010, 
at Slidell Memorial Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Maureen James Armington; father of Wendy Michelle 
Armington and Erica C. James Kitchen; son of the late Fred D. and Dorothy 
Armington; brother of David Lee Armington, Thomas Kenneth Armington and Frances 
Geneva Armington Yeakey.

He was a native of Des Moines, Iowa, a resident of New Orleans for 40 years and 
a resident of Slidell for the past 18 years.

A memorial service was held yesterday at Peace Lutheran Church, Slidell with the 
Rev. Barbara Simmers presiding. Interment will be at a later date in Biloxi 
National Cemetery in Biloxi Miss.

respected plumber in the community. He enjoyed working in his yard and watching 
his grandchildren grow up. His fun loving nature and silly jokes always put a 
smile on your face. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 3061 
and the St. Paul Athletic Association. A veteran of the U.S. Army.

Age 73 years. A native of Metairie, LA and a resident of Covington, LA for the 
past 46 years.

Elizabeth Catherine Dubea Flautt, 79, a native of Marksville, resident of New 
Orleans for 29 years, resident of St. Bernard Parish for 32 years, resident of 
Picayune, Miss., for three years and a resident of Lacombe for the past 15 
years, died Thursday, March 25, 2010.

She is survived by children, Caron Lynn Flautt Codina, and husband Julian, and 
William Brian Flautt, and wife Jennifer; two grandchildren, Matthew Michael 
Flautt and Andrea Elizabeth Flautt; four brothers, Arthur, George, Raymond and 
Alan Dubea; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years William Herbert 
Flautt Wednesday, March 10, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 
Lionel Dubea and Lessie Wall Dubea; two brothers and one sister.

Liz had a varied and progressively responsible career during her lifetime, 
working as an AT&T switchboard operator, medical receptionist, BNO bank 
secretary and officer, Mary Kay representative and supervisor with USDA NFC. 
Upon her retirement from NFC, Liz and Bill volunteered at Lakeview Regional 
Medical Center in Covington.

Liz dearly loved her family and home and had a flair for decorating. She enjoyed 
reading, cooking, gardening, dancing and sewing. In the early years of their 
marriage, Liz and Bill enjoyed fishing with family and friends. They were active 
socially and enjoyed entertaining.

of Carl Redmon, Lulamae Walker, the late Clyde Redmon, Julia Dora Woldrich, Alma 
Lee Cuellar, Clifton Redmon and Hettie Lane. She is also survived by her 
grandchildren, Brittany, Meagan, Michael, Kristina, Emily, Eddie, Bryan, Corey, 
Julie and Colin; her stepgrandchildren, Heath and Heather; and numerous great-
grandchildren.

She was a native of Pike County, Miss., and a long time resident of Slidell.

She graduated from Baptist Hospital Nursing School and was a registered nurse at 
Touro Clinic in New Orleans for many years. Funeral services were held Friday at 
Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell. Interment was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

after being in a coma for 3 1Ú2 years, at the age of 73. 

Lena is survived by her husband Bob, her son Bobby, Jr., his wife Paula and 
grandsons Zachary, Travis, Jean-Paul and her daughter Joan Fraychineaud Dorman 
and her husband Tim. Daughter of the late Anthony and Philippine DiGiovanni and 
sister of Theresa Allen. Also survived by a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-
law, nieces, and nephews. Lena and Bob lived their entire lives in New Orleans 
until Katrina, when they relocated to Shreveport. Lena will be terribly missed 
by her husband of 55 years, and 2 1Ú2 years as high school sweethearts. We pray

loving family.

preceded in death by her parents, Anne Freret and Walter Judson Ferguson, and

Trufant wife of David Stockton Trufant. Ibsie was a loving sister to Cleon 
Ferguson Gomila and Indie Ferguson Buhler. She is survived by nine 
grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Geraldine "Gerry" Standige Hewson passed away on March 29, 2010. 

She was born January 23, 1931 in New Orleans to the late Paul and Augusta 
Weathers Standige and has been a resident of Covington since 1980.

The beloved wife of William Vincent Hewson, Jr., she is survived by her son, 
Gregory William Hewson and wife Nita Walker Hewson; one grandson, Jacob Walker 
Hewson; her sister, Shirley S. Delatte and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by seven sisters: Ruth Dampier, Anna Mae McCarthy, 
Ethel Duke, Theresa Hand, Catherine Sanders, Rita Lowe, Sophie Wallace; two 
brothers, Frank and Paul Standige and her sister-in-law, Althea Hewson Lemons 
Stire.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 
12:00 Noon on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at St. Jane de Chantel Church, 72040 
Maple St., Abita Springs, LA 70420.

Visiting hours AT THE CHURCH will begin Wednesday at 10:00 AM.

Interment at the Abita Springs Cemetery will immediately follow mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jane de Chantel Catholic 
Church.

Daniel McCollough Martin, Sr. passed away on March 29, 2010. He was born June 2, 
1944 in Columbia, SC to the late Neze and Ruth Drawdy Martin and has been a 
resident of Madisonville since 1986.

The beloved husband of Judith Wallis Martin, he is survived by two daughters, 
Christal Martin Hopkins and Michelle Martin Wagner; his son, Daniel M. Martin, 
Jr.; two step-daughters, Melissa Hill Gemeinhardt and Elizabeth Hill Eagle; four 
nieces: Margaret Martin Ross, Donna Martin Rutherford, Marie Martin Brunning and 
Bridget Belcher Bryan; three nephews, Donald Martin, Charles Belcher, Jr. and 
Russell Belcher, and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two siblings, 
Ann M. Belcher and Donald M. Martin.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend memorial services at 
11:00 AM on Monday, April 5, 2010 at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 306 St. Mary 
St., Madisonville, LA 70447.

Visiting will precede the memorial beginning at 10 AM at the church.

Interment at Covington Cemetery #1 will immediately follow services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Anselm Church Building 
Fund.

Dr. Kelvin Paul McDaniel, 50, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2010, surrounded 
by family and friends at his Covington home. He was born in La Ceiba, Honduras 
and has been a resident of the New Orleans area for the past 34 years.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Suzanne "Suzy" Guichard McDaniel, sons 
Kelvin "Paul" McDaniel Jr., Michael Ross McDaniel and daughter Kristen Elizabeth 
McDaniel. He is the beloved son of Gloria Boesch and Alfred Dan McDaniel of 
Slidell, and brother of Alfred D. McDaniel, Gary D. McDaniel and identical twin 
brother, Kenneth P. McDaniel. He is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews and 
many cousins.

Dr. McDaniel attended Mazapan High School in La Ceiba, Honduras before 
graduating from Archbishop Rummel High School in 1978. He received a BS in 
Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University in 1982 and his MD from Tulane 
School of Medicine in 1986. He completed a five year residency in Radiology at 
Tulane in 1991 and a fellowship in body imaging from the MD Anderson Cancer 
Research Center, Houston, TX in 1992. Dr. McDaniel joined Northlake Radiology 
and practiced at Slidell Memorial Hospital, Highland Hospital in Picayune, MS, 
Southern Surgical Hospital, and the Louisiana Heart Hospital in addition to 
handling outpatient duties of MDI in Slidell. He practiced medicine in St. 
Tammany parish for 18 years and was an active member of Support Our War Heroes 
Dr. McDaniel was revered and respected by colleagues and patients alike. In June 
2009 he became ill and was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease) and bravely 
and stoically battled the disease up until the time of his death. He will be 
remembered by family, friends, colleagues, and patients as a gentle, dignified 
and caring man.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a funeral mass at 2:00 
pm on Monday April 5, 2010 from the church at St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River 
Road, Covington, LA 70435.

A wake is scheduled for Sunday, April 4, 2010 from 7-9:00 PM at E.J. Fielding 
Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433.

Visiting hours Monday at the Abbey church will begin 12:30 PM.

Interment at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery immediately following mass.

Michael Frank Provenzano, 86, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010.

He was the beloved husband of the late Gloria Persica Provenzano and the beloved 
lifetime partner of Merrielee LeBlanc; beloved father of Michael D. Provenzano, 
Myrlon M. Scott, Maylyn P. Geissler, Marc N. Provenzano and Marti M. Provenzano; 
stepfather of Staphanie L. Sullivan (Matthew) and Stanley LeBlanc (Lessie); 
father-in-law of Debi Provenzano, Keith Desselle, Eddie Geissler and Tina 
Provenzano. He was the grandfather of Jennifer, Jessica, Megan, Matthew, Maury, 
Marcus, Mandi, Misti, Michael, Mitchell, Micah, Chantell, Marc, Paul, Michael, 
Kenneth, Mia, Micaiah, Matthew Sullivan, Logan LeBlanc and Luke Leblanc and 
great-grandfather to Marcus, Meredith, Mason, Brett, Jules, Madison, Benny, 
Myah, Marly, Macey, Laila and Brady.

He was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Slidell. He was a 
World War II veteran who fought with the U.S. Army in the Philippines. He was 
employed by Krauss Co. for 35 years.

Family and friends are invited to the funeral at 1 p.m. April 2 at St. Margaret 
Mary Catholic Church, 1050 Robert Blvd., Slidell. Visitation will be from noon 
to 1 p.m.

Shirley Neuwirth Singleton passed away on Monday, March 29, 2010.

Beloved wife of the late Sidney Singleton. Mother of Steven Singleton and Stacey 
S. Baker. Sister of Betty Lou Heiby. Also survived grandchildren and great-
grandchildren.

Age 90 years. A native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Covington, LA for 
the past 10 years.

Wanda Louise Pflieger Huyser passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010.

Beloved mother of Tracey Huyser Murphy and her husband Michael, and Christine Huyser Costanza and her husband Ronald; and loving grandmother of Ashley Costanza. She was preceded in death by her husband, General Robert E. Huyser; her mother, Winnie Scales Pflieger; and her husband, Robert Dewey Pflieger.

Age 86 years, she was a native of Telluride, Colorado and a resident of Mandeville, Louisiana for the past 13 years.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend graveside service at Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday, February 14, 2010 at 10:00 AM. The family would prefer donations to the charity of ones choice.

ADAMS

Philip Adams Sr., 80, passed away Friday, March 26, 2010.

Adams was born in Kearn, Miss., grew up in Holly Bluff, Miss., and was a 
resident of Slidell, where he was a longtime member of Grace Memorial Baptist 
Church.

He did maintenance work at Grace Memorial Baptist Church after retiring from 
Kaiser Aluminum, where he worked as a mechanic.

He is survived by four children, Phil Adams Jr., Gale Funck, Billy Adams, David 
Adams; son-in-law, Sidney Funck; a brother, John Adams; seven grandchildren, 
Daryl, Bryan and Jamie Adams, Erica Shipp, Joshua Funck, Beth Adams and Emily 
Adams; and two great-grandkids, Devon Adams and Bryleigh Perrine. He was 
preceded in death by his wife of 56 years before her death May 8, 2009, Dorothy 
June Adams; his parents, Otis Alfred Adams, Sr. and Hazel Yankee Adams, and two 
brothers, Otis Adams, Jr. and Thomas Adams.

Funeral services were held Monday at Grace Memorial Baptist Church, 58516 Pearl 
Acres Road, Slidell, with the Rev. Bob Huestess officiating. Arrangements are 
under the direction of D.T. Williams Funeral Home of Pearl River.

CRADDOCK

Dalton "Dat" Craddock, 80, passed away Monday, March 29, 2010, at his residence 
in Pearl River.

He was a deputy with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriffs Office before working as an 
investigator with the St. Tammany Parish District Attorney's Office, where he 
retired. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his family, working 
in his yard and he also was a collector of clocks.

Dat is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lois Davis Craddock, four children, 
Dalton Steve Craddock, Jeannie Trainor, Kathy Willis, and Melania Gwynne; a 
brother, Dudley (Boots) Craddock and a sister, Opal Jean Alsobrooks. He is also 
survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; family friend, 
Vicky Provost and special niece Nita Hunt, along with a host of other relatives 
and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Gertrude 
Craddock and two brothers, Nig (Lindy) Craddock and Dennis Craddock.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 
Louisiana Highway. 41, Pearl River. Interment will follow at Austin Cemetery, 
Pearl River.
