JOHANNESEN, INGARD O (RET) April 21, 1922 - February 28, 2010 A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2010, in New Orleans, LA. U. S. Magistrate Ingard Olai Johannesen (Ret) 87, died at Ollie Steele Burden Manor in Baton Rouge, LA on Sunday, February 28, 2010. He was a native of New Orleans, LA, and resided in Bush, LA for over twenty years. He was born April 21, 1922 to Ingarbright and Inger Johannesen of Haugesund, Norway. Ingard retired as U. S. Magistrate for the Eastern District of Louisiana, was a World War II, D-Day, and U.S. Army Veteran and was a recipient of the Bronze Star for Bravery. He landed June 6, 1944, on Normandy Beach as a 1st Lieutenant with the 453rd D.U.C.W. (Ducks) Transportation Battalion. Ingard was a graduate of S. J. Peters High School and Tulane University's School of Law. He was a member of the Norwegian Seamen's Church on Prytania Street in New Orleans, LA. Preceeded in death by his first wife Adele Marie Mahan Johannesen. Survived by his former wife Betty K. Sells. Loving father of Helen Inger Johannesen and her fiancŽ William "Bill" Lang, Jr. and James Ingard Johannesen, Sr. and his wife Linda P. Johannesen. Grandfather of James Ingard Johannesen, Jr., Erik Leif Johannesen, and Nikolle Adele Johannesen. Stepfather of Frank and Michael Kuzma. Son of the late Ingarbright and Inger Johannesen. Brother of the late Ingeborg, Brieta, Johannes, Jenny, Borghilde, Asta, and Inger. Ingard is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins, both here in the United States and in Norway. He was born June 22, 1937 in New Orleans to the late Virgil and Loretta Fenerty Elsensohn and has been a resident of Covington since 1963. The beloved husband of the late Sylvia Ann Simoneaux Elsensohn, he is survived by one son, Lawrence E., Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Wendi Roberts Elsensohn; his step-mother, Rebecca Elsensohn; two brothers, Ronald and Virgil Elsensohn; two step-sisters, Judy Reilly and Faye Elsensohn; four grandchildren: Troy and Willie Roberts, Laura Roberts, Chelsei S. Dunlap and five great-grandsons. Mr. Elsensohn was the seventh of nine generations to serve on the New Orleans Police Department and was awarded the Medal of Valor for his dedication to law enforcement. After 23 years he retired from the NOPD and joined ranks with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's office for an additional 13 years. Coach Larry was co-founder and first president of both the Lee Road Youth Recreation Association and the West St. Tammany football program, which organized the baseball, basketball and football programs for all Lee Rd. residents. Coach Larry touched the lives of so many as he nicknamed every kid on the field. Also, he and his wife Sylvia rode their Gold Wing for many miles and had countless adventures as riders with the Slidell F-Troop and The Blue Knights. Nephew of Shirley Buckley McCaffery and Stewart J. Buckley. Michael graduated from Holy Cross High School and attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam War Veteran earning a purple heart. He was the owner and operator of Buckley International, Inc. and Michael's, A Coffee Bar, in the French Quarter. He was a member of Green Coffee Association, Southern Coffee Association, and the New Orleans Board of Trade Association. He was also a former member of Tally Ho Club and Little Lake Club. Along with being a coffee-cupping expert, Michael was a gourmet chef at heart, an appreciator of fine art, an aspiring music producer and manager, an avid hunter and fisherman, and a teller of incessantly bad jokes. Michael was quite the individualist, but he touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity, all while maintaining his sharp brand of humor. He will be greatly missed. He was the beloved husband of Rosa Lee Bailey Ezell and by the first marriage to the late Marcell Craddock Ezell; father of Clyde M. Ezell Jr., Barbara E. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, the New Orleans Geological Society, and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He was a loyal supporter of Tulane football and baseball, as well as a proud Saints fan who attended the first home game in Tulane stadium and lived to see them fulfill their dream. A lifelong geologist, he enjoyed rock hunting, traveling, sailing, running, and spending time with his extended family and many close friends. Dirk was born in Utrecht, Holland, to the late Wilhemina Lepair and Wilhelm Egge. He was a marine engineer by trade. Dirk sailed all over the world for Chevron for many years. Dirk emigrated to the United States in 1979 and became a marine surveyor and consultant. At the time of his death, he was employed as a marine consultant by Linea Peninsula in Panama City, Fla. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. His zest for life and humor will be deeply missed by many of us. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elisabeth Egge; daughter Angelique Daigle and son in law Neal Daigle, daughter Monique Stiegler and son in law Scott Stiegler; and son, Jeroen Egge. He was the beloved husband for the past 31 years of Grace Cortazzo Hutson; devoted father of Robert D. Hutson Jr., "J" Forest Hutson II, Christopher A. Hutson and the late Thomas Edward Hutson and granddad of Dan, Bailee, Brandi, Brittany and Cameron Hutson. Bob served his country for 20 years with the U.S. Coast Guard and retired as a chief storekeeper. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Bob was called into the ministry late in life and served as a minister in the United Methodist Church. After his retirement from the UMC, he continued to serve the Lord in many local churches, and was a current member and Deacon of Community Christian Church. He was a member of the USCG Chief Petty Officers Association, Disabled American Veterans and the Louisiana Wildfowl Carvers and Collectors Guild. Pat was born and raised in New Orleans, one of five children born to the late Edward and Zoe Rita Walsh and was the beloved husband of Tere Mares for 32 years. He was a loving father to his children, Christen Roberts, her husband Jeff and the late Matthew Patrick Walsh. He was also a very loving grandfather to Carolina Joy Roberts and his granddog Yaeger. Pat will forever be remembered by his brothers Michael, Timothy and Charles, his loving sister Patricia Walsh, as well as his numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him. Pat graduated from Loyola University New Orleans with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in 1978 and a master's degree in criminal justice in 2002. In 2006, he also earned his doctorate in the administration of justice from the University of Southern Mississippi. He was an assistant professor at Loyola University New Orleans in the Department of Criminal Justice and was recently awarded the position of Associate Chair for the department. He was a forensic criminologist having over 25 years experience in the private security and loss prevention sectors, specializing in internal theft, robberies and the thought process of robbery offenders. He was also a state-licensed private investigator, a graduate of the Reid Interview & Interrogation School and a former licensed polygraph examiner. Pat was a member of the Academy of Criminal Justice Science, the American Society of Criminology, the European Society of Criminology, the Homicide Research Working Group and the International Association of Investigative Psychology. He was a published author of over 20 articles in journals, textbooks and encyclopedias relative to his professional career. Pat loved to entertain family and friends with his many stories and crazy antics. He was full of endless knowledge and was forever putting others' needs ahead of his own. He inspired so many by his enthusiastic teaching style; his willingness to go the extra mile for anyone with a desire to learn or to better themselves. He was deeply passionate about law enforcement, ethics, history, football and his number one role, that of family man. For many years, he coached his children's baseball, softball and soccer teams; volunteered at school events; and could always be relied upon to "make it happen." Pat touched the lives of many people with his kindness and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. "Vic" Vicroy, 86, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010, at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Eileen Y. Brother of Dorothy Vicroy and Jane Ricciardelli. He was born in Philadelphia and raised in Honolulu. Vic traveled extensively in his adult life. Vic's 42 years in government was divided between military and civilian service. Vic was at Pearl Harbor with his dad, who was a U.S. Navy submariner, on the morning of Dec. 7, 1941, and soon after joined the Army Air Corps. He flew in B-17s in the European Theater during World War II as a navigator/bombardier, and remained in the service after VE Day. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Air Sea Rescue and in the Air Weather Service, retiring after 21 years of service in 1964 as a Lt Colonel. Vic's civilian career was marked with two major achievements. First the opening and operation of the Slidell River Forecast Office in the early 1970s and second, being selected to lead one of the most complex National Weather Service forecast offices in 1983. Recipient of many awards, including the Dept. of Commerce Silver Medal Award for scientific achievement, he retired from civil service in 1985. Vic and Eileen chose Slidell in which to retire and they worked diligently to help build their church. Vic felt his greatest accomplishment was becoming a deacon in the Catholic Church and serving at St. Margaret Mary from 1983 to 1997. Vic was a volunteer deputy sheriff, amateur radio operator and aspiring cook. He also enjoyed traveling, classical music and reading. She was born March 17, 1913, in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony Ferrera and Maria Louise Lucha; her brother, Cesar Lucha of Ocala, Fla.; her sisters, Delores F Galich of Guatemala City, Guatemala, and Rosario Gallardo of San Pedro Sula. She was the beloved wife of the late Phillip Francis Duignan who died on Nov. 23, 2004. Their longtime home and all its contents were destroyed in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina. After a brief period in California with her great nephew, she insisted on returning to Slidell, to be near the interment of her husband with thoughts of being buried beside him when God called to her. She is survived by a nephew, Will Arnoldo Gallardo Lucha of San Pedro Sula; and great-nephews, Will Gallardo of California and Manfredo Gallardo of San Pedro Sula; and by great-great nieces and great nephews. She had resided at Live Oak Village for the last five years, blessing the residents and staff with her lively personality and kindness. Pat will be missed by her many close friends. All of whom received a bounty of birthday and holiday cards she constantly mailed out each year. Pat was blessed with the ability to make lifelong friends and will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have known her; she was kind, loyal, and had a highly developed sense of humor. Born in Rantoul, Ill., she was the daughter of Edna Lorraine Williams Watson and the late Robert Wray Watson. She was the wife and best friend of Eric Meindl. Meindl graduated from Jackson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Miami Fla., in 1973. She was a registered nurse who specialized in obstetrical and newborn nursing services. She was a staff nurse at Tampa General Hospital in Florida and Women's Hospital in Baton Rouge. She was a neonatal intensive care nurse at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaksa, and coordinator of the Alaska Newborn Transport Team. She was a full time Ob/Gyn staff nurse and weekend house supervisor at Slidell Memorial Hospital in Slidell and maternal/ child nursing director and patient quality assurance officer/HIPPA privacy officer at Hancock Medical Center in Bay St. Louis, Miss. Meindl enjoyed traveling, especially trans-Atlantic ocean cruises, the performing arts and was a Peace Center "Peacekeeper" along with her husband.She loved to read, enjoyed jewelry making and briefly owned a small business, "Victoria's Cottage" in Waveland, Miss. She loved small children and helping people who needed assistance in hard times, loved animals and, with her husband, was a volunteer transporting cats from the Greenville Humane Society shelter to no-kill facilities in North Carolina. He was the beloved fiancŽ of Elaine Brown; father of Paul Dusek (Amanda) and Robert Dusek; son of Camille Brady Dusek and the late Robert Dusek; brother of Debbie Haylett, Claudia Mercer, Anthony Dusek, Marilyn Hukill and the late Sibyl O'Dette Dusek. Pat was born in New Orleans and lived in Covington for the past thirty-eight ddyears. Pat is predeceased by her father and mother, Alfred William Webster and Marietta Lafaso Webster. She is survived by her beloved husband of forty-seven years, Bob, and her children and their spouses: Allyson Sigerson and her fiancŽ Les Miller, Marietta and Greg Davis, and Richard and Jennifer Sigerson. The love and joy of Pat's life were her two grandchildren, Ryan Sigerson and Riley Claire Sigerson. In addition to her children and grandchildren she is survived by her sisters and their spouses, Marilyn and Matt Lanasa and Darleen and Jack Christiansen, seven nieces and numerous cousins. Pat graduated from Warren Easton high school in 1956 and attended Loyola University. She married Bob on July 16, 1963. After her family, Pat's great passion was ballet. She began dancing at the age of eight and never stopped living and loving the ballet. For over fifty years, children of all ages in New Orleans and on the North Shore studied classical ballet under Miss Pat's watchful eye. Pat remained an avid supporter of ballet companies in New Orleans and Houston. In her last years she enjoyed nothing more than taking her grandchildren to the Houston Ballet's Nutcracker every Christmas. After retiring from ballet, Pat was active in her community. She volunteered for Hospice and was an active member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Pat had many friends, some of whom she'd known for decades and others whom she met in recent years. They all meant the world to her. She felt blessed to have them and took great comfort in their company. The family would like to thank all of them for their presence in Pat's life. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends of Oakland, Calif., who Linda had touched in some small way throughout her residence in Oakland. She was the fifth child born to Eola Lott and the late Houston Barnes in New Orleans, Feb. 14, 1948. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memories, son, Michael Anthony Barnes and his wife Shawana M. Barnes; two granddaughters, Gabraielle B. Barnes and Mikayla R. Barnes; her mother, Eola Lott of Abita Springs; two sisters, Jackie B. L. Jackson and Dora L. Powell both of Abita Springs; one brother, Zebedee "Mike" Lott of Abita Springs; 34 nieces and nephews and many, many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Bobbie Jean Barnes and Betty Ann Barnes Batiste; and three brothers, Houston Jerome Barnes, Prince Albert Hogans and Ronnie Wayne Hogans. Linda's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her gently smile brought so much joy to our family. She attended school at Covington Rosenwald, St. Tammany Parish, and Covington and relocated to New Orleans in 1964, at 16. During this time she was employed as a food service technician and later she worked as a sales associate. Linda lived in New Orleans for 28 years to return to the Northshore where she resided in Abita Springs and Bogalusa. In 2008, Linda decided to relocate to Oakland. Her interests included family, sewing and reading. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother. Although she was away in another state, she gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. She loved to rock and swing. She could spend hours rocking in her favorite chair while cuddling close to those she loved so much. She enjoyed music and reading. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted caregiver, Ruth White, his church, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. James was born Jan. 17, 1917, to the late John and Mary Britton in Hattiesburg, Miss. He attended school in the Hattiesburg area. Upon finishing school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. With an honorable discharge, James returned home to work for some time in New Orleans at various jobs. From New Orleans, he moved to Folsom. Here he worked diligently taking care of animals on a local farm. At an early age, he gave his life to the Lord serving as a longstanding member of the Folsom Church of God in Christ Church under the leadership of elders, the Revs. Watts Selmon, Freddie Drummond and Harold G. Moore. He was ordained a deacon and served until his death. Some 23 years ago, James became ill, and he had to have an inhome care provider. The late Deacon Alfred White and Ruth White accepted James into their home. They became his caregivers and loved the responsibility God had given them. After the passing of Deacon White, Ruth White continued to care for and show loving kindness, support and hospitality to Britton. James truly loved the Lord and liked to sing to his Lord and Savior. His favorite song was "99 ? Won't Do." "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. Ciko and wife, Pamela; daughter of the late Fred and Linda Schouest; sister of the late Helen Saucier and Dave Schouest; grandmother of Rebecca Voss, Marcus Ciko, Lisa Ponti, and the late Laurie Leigh Ciko and great-grandmother to Glendon Voss. She was a native of Lafourche Crossing in Lafourche Parish and a resident of Slidell since the 1930's. Ciko graduated from Slidell High School in 1937 and retired in 1982 as the administrator of finance for the city of Slidell where she served for 18 years. She was an active member of the "50 Year Club" of Slidell High School, a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church where she served on the Alter Society and Financial Administration for over 40 years. In 1992, Ciko was awarded with the Order of St. Louis Medal from the Archdiocese of New Orleans. She was a founding member and former assistant administrator for the Guardians of Slidell History, a founding member of the Slidell Women's Civic Club and an active Cub Scout den mother. He was born in La Ceiba, Honduras and has been a resident of the New Orleans area for the past 34 years. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Suzanne "Suzy" Guichard McDaniel, sons Kelvin "Paul" McDaniel Jr., Michael Ross McDaniel and daughter Kristen Elizabeth McDaniel. He is the beloved son of Gloria Boesch and Alfred Dan McDaniel of Slidell, and brother of Alfred D. McDaniel, Gary D. McDaniel and identical twin brother, Kenneth P. McDaniel. He is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews and many cousins. Dr. McDaniel attended Mazapan High School in La Ceiba, Honduras before graduating from Archbishop Rummel High School in 1978. He received a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University in 1982 and his MD from Tulane School of Medicine in 1986. He completed a five year residency in Radiology at Tulane in 1991 and a fellowship in body imaging from the MD Anderson Cancer Research Center, Houston, TX in 1992. Dr. McDaniel joined Northlake Radiology and practiced at Slidell Memorial Hospital, Highland Hospital in Picayune, MS, Southern Surgical Hospital, and the Louisiana Heart Hospital in addition to handling outpatient duties of MDI in Slidell. He practiced medicine in St. Tammany parish for 18 years and was an active member of Support Our War Heroes Dr. McDaniel was revered and respected by colleagues and patients alike. In June 2009 he became ill and was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease) and bravely and stoically battled the disease up until the time of his death. He will be remembered by family, friends, colleagues, and patients as a gentle, dignified and caring man. Age 86 years, she was a native of Telluride, Colorado and a resident of Mandeville, Louisiana for the past 13 years. Adams was born in Kearn, Miss., grew up in Holly Bluff, Miss., and was a resident of Slidell, where he was a longtime member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church. He did maintenance work at Grace Memorial Baptist Church after retiring from Kaiser Aluminum, where he worked as a mechanic. He is survived by four children, Phil Adams Jr., Gale Funck, Billy Adams, David Adams; son-in-law, Sidney Funck; a brother, John Adams; seven grandchildren, Daryl, Bryan and Jamie Adams, Erica Shipp, Joshua Funck, Beth Adams and Emily Adams; and two great-grandkids, Devon Adams and Bryleigh Perrine. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years before her death May 8, 2009, Dorothy June Adams; his parents, Otis Alfred Adams, Sr. and Hazel Yankee Adams, and two brothers, Otis Adams, Jr. and Thomas Adams. He was a deputy with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriffs Office before working as an investigator with the St. Tammany Parish District Attorney's Office, where he retired. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his family, working in his yard and he also was a collector of clocks. Dat is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lois Davis Craddock, four children, Dalton Steve Craddock, Jeannie Trainor, Kathy Willis, and Melania Gwynne; a brother, Dudley (Boots) Craddock and a sister, Opal Jean Alsobrooks. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; family friend, Vicky Provost and special niece Nita Hunt, along with a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Gertrude Craddock and two brothers, Nig (Lindy) Craddock and Dennis Craddock. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at D.T.
