Matthew "River Rebel Medicine Man" Broom, 55, of Slidell, passed away Saturday 
June 26, 2010. 

He is survived by his mother Edith Penton; and two children, Angie Schutte 
(David) and Joshua Broom. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Kristin 
Broom, Alyssa Schutte, Cheyanne Schutte, Joshua Matthew Broom and Gabriel Broom; 
and his brothers and sister, James Broom, Judith Broom Gardner and Herman Broom 
Jr.

He was preceded in death by his father Herman Broom Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. today at D. T. Williams Funeral Home 
67525 Louisiana Highway 41, Pearl River. Visitation will be from 6-10 p.m. The 
Rev. Pat Calahan will officiate. 

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Williams Funeral Home to help 
with funeral expenses.
