Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2010/st1006.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Walter Russell Young, 64, of Waldron, Ark., died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Mercy Hospital of Scott County in Waldron from metastatic malignant melanoma. He was born Jan. 27, 1946, in Bogalusa, to Walter Louis and Hazel Taylor Young. He was a member of the Dayton Church of Christ and a 1963 graduate of Covington High School. He graduated in 1967 from LSU with a degree in chemical engineering, and graduated in 1975 from LSU Medical School with a M.D. degree. He began a private practice in family medicine at Brookhaven, Miss., in July 1976. He moved to Waldron in 1983 and remained in private practice until March 19, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; daughter, Christy Long and husband, James of Waldron; three stepsons, Stan Rose of Greenwood, Ark., Stuart Rose and wife, Teresa of Greenwood, and Steve Rose and wife, Tammie of Waldron; six grandchildren, Zach Rose of Greenwood, Leah and Justin Long of Waldron, Allison Rose of Greenwood, and Kaylin and Ashlin Rose of Waldron; a sister, Darlene Palliser and husband, Tommy of Covington; two brothers, Earl Young of Bush, and Jim Young and wife, Joan of San Antonio. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at the Dayton Church of Christ, 2230 E. Hwy. 252, Huntington, Ark., with interment at Parks Cemetery, Hwy. 28 E., Gravelly, Ark., under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Larry Bridges and Jack Sorrells will be officiating; song leader will be Lowell Ashley. Pallbearers will be Chris and David Young, Larry Davis, Dr. Nathan Bennett, Steve Hattabaugh and Terry Plumber. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Laster, Doug Graves and Larry Owen. In lieu of flowers the family has requested you make a donation to the W. Russell Young, M.D. Scholarship Fund at P.O.
