Rainer III, 69, died Sunday, June 27, 2010, at his home of pulmonary hypertension, surrounded by his family and friends. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retiree of Shell Oil Co. A resident of St. Tammany Parish, he was previously a long time resident of New Orleans and Mobile Ala. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Louise and John K. Rainer Jr. Survivors are his sister, Mary Ann Funderburk and brother-in-law and friend, Jason J. Funderburk of Melbourne, Fla.; nieces Karen Leigh Bailey (Joey) and Mary Katherine Galle (Bron) of Mobile; nephew Clayton Rainer Tracy (Michelle) of Melbourne; great nieces Mary Lauren Bailey, Maya Bella Tracy, Sage Piper Tracy; great nephews Joseph Griffin Bailey, Hunter Scott Galle, Blaine Alexander Galle and long time companion and friends Michael A. Durocher of Covington and Wayne E. Smith of Mobile. Funeral arrangements will be private. Per his specific request, there will be no visitation or memorial service of any kind. In lieu of the usual remembrances, make donations to the St. Francis Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Box 677, Abita Springs, LA 70420.
