Harry Julius Tymkiw, 86, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Slidell Memorial 
Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Mildred Tymkiw for 53 years; father of Dennis 
Tymkiw (Cissy), Denise deAlminana (Wayne) and Douglas Tymkiw (Michele); loving 
Pop-Pop to Matthew and Andrew deAlminana and Alexis, Nicholas and Michael 
Tymkiw.

A native of Detroit and a graduate of the University of Michigan, he was an 
electrical engineer with Westinghouse, Chrysler and Martin Marietta. He helped 
develop the Saturn V rockets and the Space Shuttle booster rockets. In 
retirement, he devoted his time to gardening, swimming, crossword puzzles, 
computers and his grandchildren.

His body will be donated to LSU's Health Sciences Center to aid in medical 
teaching and research. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made 
to the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today 
at Church of Christ, 994 Old Spanish Trail, Slidell.
