Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2010/st1008.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Marcella Barnes Illing died peacefully at the age of 90 after a long illness on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at her residence in Christwood Retirement Community of Covington, LA. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-seven years, Warren John Illing; parents Benjamin F. Barnes and Maurine Grove Barnes; sisters, Bonnie Barnes Pruit and Kate Barnes Patterson. Survived by her sister, Colleen Barnes Lozano, brother-in-law Carl Illing (Tina), and by her four children: Maurine "Bunnie" Illing Olivere (Joseph); Kathleen Illing Taranto (A.J.); Warren John Illing II (Kathy Knott); and Scott Patrick Illing (Susan Rathe). Also survived by 13 grandchildren: Dr. Joseph Olivere II (Yvonne); Ashley Olivere Wooldridge (Wesley); Jaimee Olivere Cooley (Aaron); Beth Bahan Rollman; Melanie Bahan Watts (Chris); Kristen Bahan Taranto (Michael); Mark Bahan, Jr. (Lori); Warren "Trip" John Illing III; Brett Illing; Von Illing; Garrett Illing; Olivia Illing; and Maxwell "Max" Illing. Also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and a host of loving nephews and nieces. Marcella was born on July 31, 1920 in Hoxie, Arkansas, lived for many years in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of Covington, LA for 53 years. She attended Ursuline Academy, graduated from LSU in 1943 with a degree in Secondary Education. While at LSU, she was a member of Beta Omicron Sigma, a Gumbo Beauty for 2 years and was active in many plays. She continued her acting career at Le Petite in New Orleans and Playmakers in Covington. An avid bridge player; she was also a member of the American Association of University Women and the Republican Women's Club. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM from E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433. Visitation on Friday from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
