Edward Martensson) ended his two year battle with cancer on Monday evening, 9 August 2010. Born in Galveston, Texas, J. Edward Martensson was the son of the late Dolores R. and Nils H. Martensson of Pearl River, Louisiana. An avid sportsman, Ed loved bass fishing and deer hunting. He also enjoyed falconry (catching, training and hunting with hawks). People from the New Orleans area knew him as "Ed Marten" the original Action Reporter and News Anchor from WVUE Channel 8 and WWL Channel 4 in New Orleans, respectfully. What many didn't know was that he began his career as an Air Traffic Controller at age 19 in the U.S. Air Force and transitioned into Radio. He began his TV News career in Monroe, Louisiana in 1963. Having worked at many television stations in Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana, Mr. Marten truly enjoyed his 40+ year Radio and Television career and retired to a family Jewelry business (Ed Marten's Fine Jewelry) in Slidell, Louisiana. J. Edward Martensson "Ed Marten" is survived by his wife, Molly Holman Martensson; daughter, Julie Martensson Clements and son-in-law, John W. Clements; Son, J. Edward Martensson Jr. and daughter-in-law, Tracie C. Martensson and five grandsons: J. Edward Martensson III, Cannon Martensson, Ethan Martensson, Hunter Martensson and Nicholas Martensson; Son, Clint Russell Martensson all of Pearl River, Louisiana. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Services at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Friday evening, August 13, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. Visitation on Friday after 5:00 P.M. until funeral time. ===================
