Beloved husband of 72 years to Mae Kahl Rauber. Father of Darryl, Ronald and Gary Rauber. Son of the late Wilhelmina and Henry Rauber. Brother of the late Frank, Marie, Adele, Elvira and John. Grandfather of five, one deceased. Also survived by four great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. He was a native of New Orleans where he was Deputy Director of Administration for the Port of New Orleans and retired after 50 years of service, retired as a Lt. Colonel for the Army Reserve and was a resident of Covington for the past 25 years. Mr. Rauber was the first elected employee member of the Louisiana Civil Service Commission and was a recipient of the Charles E. Dunbar, Jr. Career Service Award. He was past president of the 377th Transportation Terminal Command Chapter Reserve Officers Assoc. and a longtime member and past chairman of the Delta Safety Society. He was past president of the Louisiana Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development, Veterans of Safety and the Louisiana Chapter of the International Personnel Management Assoc. He was also a board member of numerous other personnel and safety organizations. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Funeral Mass on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of E.J. FIELDING FUNERAL HOME, 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433 with visitation on Monday beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
