Phillip Larry Johnson passed away Sept. 8, 2010, in Fresno, Calif., at the age 
of 62. He was a resident of Reedley, Calif.

Mr. Johnson was born Aug. 11, 1948 in Lecompte, La. He was a 1966 graduate of 
Pine Prairie High School in Pine Prairie, La. He joined the U.S. Air Force to 
serve his country in 1967 and earned the rank of sergeant. He served in Biloxi, 
Miss., Thailand and at Travis Air Force Base in California. He attended college 
at Fresno State University in Fresno, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree. 
He served as a basic fire fighter in the summers while attending college. He 
taught high school social studies and economics at Parlier High School in 
Parlier, Calif., for 31 years. He also was an assistant coach for the high 
school baseball team.

He is survived by two brothers, Frank Norman Johnson of Vicksburg, Miss., and 
David Dwight Johnson of Slidell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jessie Mae Johnson; one 
brother, Ronald Johnson and one sister, Mary Jeaneane Russell.

A memorial service will be held Oct. 16, 2010 in Room 150 of the First Baptist 
Church, 4141 Pontchartrain Drive, Slidell. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. 
Burial will be in the Port Hudson National Military Cemetery in Zachary.
