OERTEL
On Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010 Carl Jacob Oertel, III passed away at Slidell Memorial 
Hospital at the age of 74.

He was a retired locomotive engineer with CSX Railroad.

Mr. Oertel is survived by his wife of 30 years, Charmaine Burtchaell Oertel, 
three children, Carl James Oertel, Charles Joseph Oertel and Julie Oertel 
Benitez Watson; two sisters, Carol Ann Boasso and Carla Ray Snelting; five 
grandchildren, William, Stephen and Kenneth Benitez, and Jamie & Christy Oertel; 
three great-grandchildren, Andrew Benitez, Harrison Benitz, and Gabriel Oertel. 

He is also survived by his dog, Stormy.

The family of Mr. Oertel would like to acknowledge his dear friends at the 
District 1 Fire Deptartment in Slidell.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carl Oertel, II and Anna Mae and Raymond 
Snelting and his mother and father in law, Doris Burtchaell and Peter J. 
Burtchaell, Sr.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. tomorrow at Village Church in Lacombe, 
La.

D.T. Williams Funeral Home of Pearl River in charge of arrangements.
