Mr. Leach was born on Aug. 3, 1926, in New Eagle, Pa., the son of the late James and Virginia Leach. With the outbreak of World War II, Mr. Leach volunteered to serve his country, joined the U.S. Army and defended our liberty in Germany. Mr. Leach returned from action in Europe a decorated veteran. Following the war, Mr. Leach married the love of his life, Martha Jakubisn, and began his career as a project engineer for the space division of Chrysler Corporation in Detroit, Mich. Following the birth of his two children, Kenneth and Karen, Mr. Leach's career took him and his family to Italy, Ala., finally settling in Slidell in 1963. Mr. Leach retired from General Dynamics in 1988. He remained active in the Slidell community through his involvement with the Slidell Senior Center and the Eden Isles Homeowners Association. Mr. Leach is survived by his wife of 62 years Martha; his son Kenneth Leach; daughter Karen Patterson; son-in-law Randall Patterson; grandsons Kevin and Jason Leach and great-granddaughter Valerie and great- grandson Ethan. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial services at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow at the First United Methodist Church 433 Erlanger Street, Slidell. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the American Heart Association or to the charity of your choice. ===================
