He was born in Ruleville, Miss., Dec. 29, 1956. Ruleville is a small town in north Mississippi. Wayne loved sports and the outdoors growing up in Ruleville. He lettered in football, baseball and track in high school at the North Sunflower Academy. After high school he opened a Sonic Drive-in with his father in Bogalusa, where he met the mother of his children. They moved to Slidell where he opened the Burger Hop on Pontchartrain Drive. Wayne then became an insurance salesman for New England Life. He stayed with them for many years until deciding to work for himself. Wayne loved the game of golf. He would practice or play as often as possible. He also enjoyed playing softball with his fellow church members at Calvary Baptist Church. Wayne lived in Slidell most of his life, and enjoyed working as a self-employed contractor. He liked living by his own set of rules. He was an unselfish man with a huge heart. He would take anyone off the streets and did so many times. He had one grandchild as well, Mia Paige Fogarty. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Irene Pratt. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. tomorrow at the Calvary Baptist church, 1615 Old Spanish Trail, Slidell. Burial will be held at a later date in the Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville, Miss.
