Beloved husband of Ornella Braccaioli Barras. Father of Karen Day, Kim Zornes (Michael), Sabrina Short (Craig) and Kristina Haley. Proud grandfather of Bianca Day, Cristian Day, Sofia Day, Donovan Zornes, Brock Zornes, Leila Zornes, Luke Short, Alexandra Haley and Olivia Haley. Brother of Glenn Barras, Sr., Dorothy Zimmer and the late Charles Barras, Jr. and Raymond Barras. Brother-in-law of Ottavio Braccaioli (Paola), Iole Cagliari (Paolo), Eva Anzanello (Franco), Inez Barras, Anna Barras and the late Clarence Zimmer and Dot Barras. Aged 74 years. A native of New Orleans, a longtime resident of Chalmette and a resident of Mandeville, LA for the past 5 years. He was a 42 year veteran of the US Air Force and LA Air National Guard. An avid golfer and fisherman. He loved Italy where he met the love of his life and loved to visit his friends and family there. He will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 11:00 AM from E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433. Visitation on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until service time. Private interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Food Bank of Covington, 840 N.
