DeMarsh, 1923 - 2010, was born, Pierre Louis DeMarsh, in New York in the roaring 20's, son of John DeMarsh of New York and Jeanne Pierre DeMarsh of France. The family then moved to Canada during the Great Depression . Such was the tone of his entire life, a series of remarkable events in time. As soon as he was allowed he joined the U.S. Army Air Force as a pilot in World War II, seeing action in North Africa and Europe. He also served our country in the Korean War. Although he was born in New York, he always considered himself a Southerner. After the war, he attended Rice University in Houston and became an engineer in the oil industry. This lead to a lifetime of traveling and working all over the world but he always considered the South as his home and lived in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi for the past 70 years. Pierre was also an inventor with a multitude of patents to his name. As an entrepreneur, he started and managed several companies. He is the founder and director of Demex International, Inc., an explosive service company that has been a worldwide industry leader for 38 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. His love of education was well known as he always encouraged our young to excel in life by bettering themselves. He was generous not only financially, but with his time to all around him. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Harrison DeMarsh of Diamondhead, Miss.; his son, Gary L. DeMarsh; daughters, Paula K. DeMarsh and Beth E. Ashker; nephew, Michael Butts; grandchildren David and Darren Ashker and great-grandchild, Andrew Ashker. He also leaves behind a network of friends in the U.S.A. and around the world whose lives have been enriched by his life and experiences. Celebration of life services were held yesterday, at the First United Methodist Church of Picayune. The Rev. Jim Biendenham officiated. Arrangements are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to his care-givers, Hope Fricke and Jody Murphy who made his final time comfortable. His friends' and neighbors' offers of help and love have helped the family more than words can express. ===================
