Beloved Wife of 52 years to the late James Birney Garrett. Daughter of the late Lela Stockstill Sylvest and John M. Sylvest. Mother of Jay Birney Garrett of Slidell and Jill Ann Garrett Hollowell of Denham Springs, La. Mother-in-law of Terry Hollowell. Sister of Ed Sylvest, Elva DiVincenti and the late Hilton Sylvest. Also survived by her two precious grandchildren, Kylie Faith and Tyler Garrett, numerous nieces, nephews and her canine buddy, T-bone. She was a 1954 graduate of Covington High School. She played the organ and piano for several different churches in Slidell and was a charter member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church where she was also the church secretary for several years. She enjoyed cooking, decorating cakes for family and friends and was an avid gardener with a special interest in daylilies, with her husband. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. Interment in FOREST LAWN CEMETERY. Visitation on Monday after 11:00 A.M. until funeral time. In lieu of flowers, it is preferred that you contribute to the church or hospice program of your choice ===================
