Oalmann Miley, age 91 and a resident of Waldheim died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Robert "Bob" Miley and two of her children, Robert Earl Miley and Joy Lynn M. Foxworth. She is survived by her two remaining children, son Gary Miley, daughter Gertrude M. Burkart and by ten (10) grandchildren, eleven (11) great grandchildren, and one (1) great great-grandchild. As one time owner of three concurrent local businesses operations, The Fashion Shop, The Dixie Queen and Miley's Glass Works, Vera and her husband, were prominent business owners in the community for more than 30 years. Vera was a graduate of Lyon High School and dedicated her life to the betterment of her family and community. For many years, Vera was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary No. 16 and, as a member of the First Baptist Church of Covington for more than sixty (60) years. Following her business career, Vera was an active as an avid golfer and always remained very active in her church and in the local community. Through the church, Vera was an active and long time member of the First Baptist Church of Covington's Senior ministry "Young at Heart" and, in the community, Vera was a frequent volunteer at the Covington Food Bank. In honoring of her wishes, any in lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Young at Heart with the First Baptist Church of Covington, 16333 Hwy 1085, Covington, LA 70433. Friends are invited to visit from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433 with the funeral service being held at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow thereafter in the Pinecrest Memorial Gardens adjacent to the funeral home. ==========================
