Beloved husband of 63 years to the late Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Schaus; father of Daniel R. Schaus and the late Leeann Schaus Fluegel; grandfather to Richard Jason Schaus, John Bradley Schaus and his wife Monica and Whitney Schaus; step grandfather to Matthew Neal, and his wife Kira; great-grandfather to twins, Daniel and Madelyn Schaus; and step great-grandfather to Kaya Neal. Besides his wife and daughter, he was preceded in death by his mother, Mable Stokes Schaus; and his father, Victor Schaus. Age 85 years, he was a native of Newport, RI and a resident of Mandeville, LA for the past eleven years. He attended San Diego State College and was a World War II Veteran having served in the United States Navy, where he served on the USS Marshall and volunteered as a Rescue Swimmer. He was employed with Teledyne Ryan Aeronautical Company from 1950 to 1972; with Spartan Aviation until 1974; and with Dresser Industries from 1974 until his retirement in 1991, having retired as Executive Vice-President and General Manager. While with Dresser Industries, he was recognized as a Charter Member of The National Management Association, Dresser-Alexandria Chapter. In 1985 he was selected as an Honorary Economic Development Ambassador in the State of Louisiana. He served on the Board of Directors of Rapides General Hospital, Rapides Bank and Trust and First Commerce Corporation all of Alexandria, LA. A founding member of Northcross United Methodist Church, he was also an honorary lifetime member of the Rotary Club of Mandeville, where he is a Paul Harris Fellow. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Northcross United Methodist Church, 311 Hwy 21, Madisonville, LA 70447. Visitation AT THE CHURCH on Monday will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to St. Tammany Memorial Cancer Fund, 1125 N. Causeway Blvd., Ste.2, Mandeville, LA 70471. ===================
