Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2011/st1102.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Seymour Cambias, Jr., a native of New Orleans and resident of Tchefuncta Club Estates in Covington, LA, passed away February 9, 2011 at the age of 87. He was the son of the late Seymour Cambias, Sr. and Margaret Bartholomew Cambias. Mr. Cambias graduated in Engineering from Tulane University. He was a U S Navy Veteran, serving as an Officer in both WWII and the Korean War (as Chief Engineer of the USS Hunt). He was Head of the Electrical Engineering Department of New Orleans Public Service and Vice President of ITE Imperial Corporation and Gould-Brown Bouveri of Springhouse, PA from 1973 until he retired to Covington in 1985. Mr. Cambias was a member of Eta Kappa Nu, a Fellow and Chartered Member of the British Institution of Electrical Engineers and served as Expert Advisor for CIGRE. He was Chairman of Edison Electrical Institute Power Plant Design, served as Vice President and Board Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), and a Life Member of the Louisiana Engineering Society. He was an author of numerous articles in Naval and Engineering publications and Four IEEE Transactions Papers. He served as District Vice President for the Boy Scouts of America, President of the PTA, and Elder of the Madisonville Presbyterian Church. Mr. Cambias is survived by his wife of 65 years, Myrl Lenfant Cambias, and his four children, Cynthia Furnish, Richard Cambias, Barbara Clark, and Jacqueline Peer, five grandchildren, William Furnish, Kristin Minutti, Heather Norman, Lindsay Clark, Jillian Clark, and five great-grandchildren, Samantha, Veronica, Calvin Furnish and Nicholas and Daniel Minutti. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 10am at the Madisonville Presbyterian Church, 701 Pine St., Madisonville, LA, with Visitation at 9:00 am. Interment will follow in Cypress Grove Cemetery in New Orleans. Donations may be made to Madisonville Presbyterian Church. ===================
