Edward was a U.S. Navy veteran from 1944 - 1946. His passion was baseball and he maintained a .500 batting average while serving in the Navy. Edward retired with 32 years of service in 1986 as an electronic engineer for the U.S. Government Federal Aviation Air Communications. Edward was a native of Mandeville and was survived by his five children, Becky Maestri, Gary Messick, Melba Fields, Camme Miller, and Bruce Messick; brother Alvin Messick; sister Peggy Messick Hamilton; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was the son of the late Edward Bennett Messick Sr. and Anne Bordelon Messick of Marksville. He was also preceded in death by his sister Lilly Glodt. The funeral service was held yesterday at Chauvin Funeral Home, Houma. Burial was in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. ===================
