Dr. Wilhelm Hendrik Johan van Deventer passed away peacefully at home on Friday, 
February 4, 2011 at the age of 80. 

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jeanne; sons, Hank and Paul; daughters-
in-law, Mary Lynn and Janie; and four grandchildren, Will, Leland, Anna and 
Ashton.

Dr. van Deventer was born in The Hague, Holland in 1930. After the war, he 
completed his medical school education before coming to the U.S. He pursued his 
education in Worcester, Mass and later in Portland, Maine ultimately becoming an 
Anesthesiologist.

He spent the next 40 years in the service of his many patients in Brunswick, 
Maine and later in Meridian, Mississippi. He spent his retirement years in 
Mandeville, LA with his family.

The family would like to thank all of those who cared so greatly for him over 
the past 3 years. We give special thanks to Joyce Wiley whose loving care meant 
so much to us.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at St. Timothy 
United Methodist Church, 335 Asbury Drive, Mandeville, LA 70471 on Wednesday, 
February 9, 2011 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held at church from 10:00 am 
until service time.
